Cole found himself sitting on a bench pondering how he had gotten himself into a part of life like this. It felt like it had been weeks since he had been out for his own pleasure. He missed everything that he had been going through before he had hit his slump. He missed laughing and being out with people, he missed writing his lyrics, he missed pulling pranks, but most of all he missed one girl. He hadn't seen his best friend in what felt like forever and he really wished that this hadn't been the case. Wearing his robes he slumped himself in the bench silently being angry with the world. It wasn't just the world but it was also himself. As soon as something is going good I go and screw it up...Cole thought angrily. As he realized the truth in his statement he started to feel the urge to break down and cry. He hung his head and put his hands over his face. Just his straight hair could be seen if you would look at him from any angle aside from underneath his face.
How he hoped that she would come. All he wanted was someone he liked to talk with and catch up with. The school year started off looking so great but it was slowly falling apart before his very eyes. Cole didn't know why but he hadn't made near enough effort as he had meant to. Everything started to go downhill once he lost contact with Delilah and now he felt like a complete fool for ever thinking she might like him. He finally brought his head back up and realized that tears were beginning to form. Cole quickly hung his head down again not wanting anyone to see him.
Cole began to hear footsteps coming toward him. All he could hear was the deafening click of shoes on the marble floor. He did his best to ignore the sounds but they just kept coming. Slowly nearing him. Getting louder and louder, eventually they stopped right beside him. He could feel the eyes on him. Guessing this wasn't someone he knew Cole just continued to hold his position. He intended to until the person here left. But to his surprise he felt the person sit beside him. He felt the weight change on the bench as the person made themselves comfortable. Wondering who this was Cole took a quick look from the cover of his hair.

For no apparent reason, Delilah decided she would get a little bit dressed up before she went about the castle today. Yes, even Hogwarts students had their days off, and because they didn't have to wear robes today, Delilah thought that perhaps she could put a little bit of effort into how she looked today. For someone who usually wore sweats and a hoodie, this small girl looked great in black kitten heels, black dress pants, and long sleeved yellow shirt, with a green scarf around her neck. Delilah couldn't help but feel cute as she left her dorm room, and proceeded to walk around the castle.
She was planning on going outside for a walk, and to get there she had to go through the entrance. Delilah sighed, she was missing Cole a lot, but seeing as he was never around, she did her best to push the thought of him from her mind, however, every now and then she thought of him, and thought that he's come out from some hole sooner or later. She missed him terribly, but perhaps he didn't feel the same way about her as she did about him, but everyone had free will, and she couldn't make someone like her back. She knew one thing for certain though, and that is that boys are dumb. Neither Cole or Jason had been around as of late.
She had enough problems without those boys any how. Thoughts of her dad on his death bed were still fresh in her memory and no one knew, because she hid it quite well and didn't want to be a burden on anyone. Her dad was still alive, but he was literallly on his death bed, and because he was one of her best friends, she felt pretty depressed at the idea of her dad passing away. Delilah left her thoughts behind as she continued on with a smile on her face.
As she passed through the hall, she noticed someone... with long brown hair... sitting glumly, with his head down. Delilah couldn't help but smile broadly, there wasn't anyone else in the entire castle who looked like that, it had to be Cole. She approached him, heels clicking, and she tried not to screetch from excitement. Delilah grinned as she stood in front of him for a moment, and frowned when he didn't look up. She knew that he knew someone was there though, she couldn't sneak around in heels to save her life. After much to long a pause, she finally sat down next to him, still with a smile on her face, and it only got brighter when Cole finally decided to look up. She gave him a small quick wave and the best smile she'd given anyone in a very long time, "Hey stranger." She said simply, secretly wanting to hug him, but a wave would have to suffice for now.

Cole looked up with a smile instantly recognizing the voice that had spoken to him. Quickly wiping away the tears and the hair that were plastered on his face he turned to her and said "Hey...I was just thinking about you....it's been to long since I've seen you...I haven't really been out for pleasure in a really really long time." He was so glad to see that beautiful smile that he had missed so much in the past weeks. Knowing he probably looked like he had been crying he took the time to take in how Delilah looked. Cole honestly stopped breathing for a few seconds and couldn't take his eyes off of her. I should have cared about what I wore for once... Cole thought. "You look really cute today." Cole blurted out not really thinking about it to much before he said it.
Suddenly turning really red he realized what he had said. "I'm sorry...that was a little blunt." Cole said. He once again had made himself feel like a complete idiot in front of Delilah. "I'm also sorry I haven't been around a lot lately...I really screwed up and yeah I'm sorry...I've just been caught up with a lot of stuff and haven't thought about it so much...I'm sorry I haven't been a great friend." Cole added to his first apology. I have a lot to catch up on, and a lot to be forgiven for... He thought. He hoped very much so that Delilah was in a forgiving mood at the moment.

Delilah wasn't too sure if her eyes were playing tricks on her or not, but she thought she saw Mr. Cole Bartlet wipe away something from his face before looking at her. Had he been crying? Concern flooded the small girls face, she couldn't help but worry about her best friend. She was upset that he hadn't been around as of late, but that didn't mean she didn't care for him. Delilah smiled when Cole said that he had been thinking about her... Was it she that was making him cry? "I've been thinking about you too Cole." Delilah continued to listen to him, she just hoped that from now on, he would come out of his hole more often.
Delilah blushed like mad when he said she looked cute. Evidently, he was embarassed too. She laughed, "Blunt is good." She said simply, just happy to be around him, and still a little baffled that he would call her cute. Maybe I should dress up more often... She said, smiling to herself, glad that her efforts didn't go to waste. Besides, if anyone was going to see her all dressed up, her choice would be Cole. Delilah looked down when he apologized. "Yeah, so what have you been up to?" She asked, a little sad that he wasn't around when she needed him most, but she wasn't mad at him for it. She didn't even know why he hadn't been around as of late, but hopefully it wasn't something stupid. "We do have a lot to catch up on." She added, looking back up at him. "And Cole," she said, placing a warm gentle hand on his knee, "you're forgiven."

Cole smiled one of the smiles that had been rare in his life when Delilah told him she had been thinking of him too. "Thinking of me too? You mind if I ask what you were thinking? I hope it wasn't anything bad." Cole said jokingly. He continued to look at Delilah so she could tell how much attention he was paying to her. "I just really wish that I came out to be with people more." He said to her. Wow have I missed her... Cole thought. "So what have you been keeping yourself busy with?" He asked. For some reason Cole really felt like he was still really close with Delilah. To him it was like they had never skipped a beat. This struck his thoughts and he realized that this is how it should be between best friends.
When he saw her blush from how blunt he had been his grin became all the wider. She seemed to laugh it off and said simply to Cole "Blunt is good." Instantly he decided that Delilah hadn't much room to argue it. He didn't mind at least it left room for him to state his mind even if it did make it awkward at times. When she asked him what he had been up to he couldn't help but feel like his explanation was pitiful. "Honestly...I hate to say this but I haven't really been up to anything, like I've been really busy with the work from the classes, but I just kind of hit a hole and had no will to go out. Like I just got wicked sad and stuff, but like I didn't have much of a reason to, and honestly I probably would have been happier if I had come out more." Cole said quietly. He looked back to her after she put her hand on his knee and forgave him. "Thank you Delilah."

Delilah laughed lightly and shook her head, looking at him with a little sparkle in her eye. "No, nothing bad." She said, her look turning a bit more serious now, "I was pretty worried about you... I missed having you around." She said, smiling once again, and for once not feeling bashful about being honest when it came to how she felt about Cole. Delilah took note of how intensely Cole was looking at her, and hoped that he was listening and not just spacing out. Delilah shrugged when he asked her waht she had been up to, because honestly she hadn't really been doing anything, it seemed that most stayed cooped up in the small dormitories, which never made sense to her because there was so much more to see that just one room. "Well you know, I have my Head Girl duties..." She said ending it with a forced smile, because she wasn't ready to admit that she just strolled around and did a whole lot of nothing.
Once Delilah realized that Cole hadn't really reacted to her small gesture, she pulled her hand away and simply smiled at him. Maybe he'd been gone to long and had forgotten about her. "You're welcome." She added finally, not really sure what to say after that though, because she had nothiing to say about someone being cooped up in their dorm all the time, for no reason. Didn't he have at least one problem to be sad about like she did? Maybe she shouldn't share her problems with him... Afterall it seemed as though he had enough "drama" going on.
She blinked a couple times trying not to feel upset and stood up slowly, looking down, then to Cole and smiled slightly, "I think that Connor's shift is up now actually..." She lied, looking away from Cole as she started to walk away. Maybe he just didn't feel like that about her... maybe he just was too wallowed up in self pity to remember the friends who cared deeply about him. Maybe he really didn't need her.

"Head girl duties hey?" Cole said with a mischevous tone. I wish I had been out here with her... Cole thought. "I missed you a lot too..." Cole said gently. He kept looking at her and just wishing he hadn't been the one who had broke his own heart. He found himself becoming really aware of everything around him, especially the deafening silence. If only he had left his rooom once in awhile. There was nothing he wanted more than to hug her in that moment but he knew he had to wait. The silence was killing him and he felt very relieved when he heard Delilah's voice again.
Cole felt Delilah's hand come off of his leg. Instictivly he started to reach for it to hold but then realized that this wasn't what Delilah wanted. Instead he just stared deep into here eyes and fought not to start crying again. I've lost the best friend I've ever had... Cole thought sadly. He just felt like in that moment she had no will to be there with him. To be honest he didn't blame her for that at all. Some man I am... Cole thought.
As Delilah started to walk away and say that she had to go Cole could tell she was lying. What really tipped him off was the fact that she was dressed in her relaxing clothes, the ones she would wear on a day off. Why is she lying to me? Cole thought. He sat there for a few seconds trying to decide if he should go after her or not. He got up and walked after her quickly. He grabbed her by the arm gently and whispered into her ear "Delilah don't go...I need you here...I need you now...I don't know what to do andymore...I have nobody but you. Delilah...I didn't really want to tell you why I got so sad but its because I wasn't around you...you are one of those people that keep me going, and I want you to know just how much I need you." As tears formed in his eyes he let go of her arm and just hoped that she would stay.

Delilah nodded, "Yeah, it's not like it's a huge burden, but things do have to be kept straight around here." She said, wondering if Cole was honestly interested in her duties, or if he was more interested in how he could get away with things. She wasn't going to lie to herself though, she'd probably let him get away with staying out late... So long as he was with her of course.
Delilah hated that he hadn't been out in so long, because now they didn't really have anything to talk about. She was upset with him and there really wasn't any way for him to know that. Delilah hadn't noticed Cole reaching for her hand, she only noticed that he hadn't taken note of the affection she was trying to give him in the first place. She was having a rough time even looking at him, she felt like she was losing him. What happened to the boy that went on late walks with her, and shared his thoughts with her? Had she broken his trust some how? Had she not tried hard enough to be there for him? Was she being too moody?
The small girl, crossed her arms in front of her as she was walking away, wondering if Cole was going to stop her like he always did, and as she wondered all of these things, a gentle hand had caught her by the arm and begged her to stop and wait for him. Delilah stopped, relieved that Cole was still acting like the Cole she knew. She stopped to listen to Cole's plea, and she felt the care and affection she had for him return. She turned to face him and wrapped her arms around his neck hugging him tightly, "Cole, I care about you, but I can't be a friend to someone who doesn't leave their own dorm..." She said, being truthful and honest, but still loving.
Delilah was really touched though, did he really need her around? "If you want me around, you have to let me in, you have to tell me if I mean anything to you." She said, stepping back now, looking into Cole's eyes. There were tears in her own, she couldn't help it, after everything that was going on (or rather, lack of things) this moment really meant a lot to her.
