His first impression upon seeing Hogwarts was that it was quite large. It didn't succeed in overshadowing Durmstrang by any means, but it did posess it's own sense of historical ambiance. The Troy man was slightly impressed at the looming outline of the castle set against a midmorning sky with shades of blues. His eyes scanned the grounds, taking in his temporary ' home. ' He straightened his robes methodically as the carriage bumped this way and that, carried by the ominous black winged horses.
Evan grew impatient quickly and was thankful to be rid of the creatures at the end of the drive. He exited the vehicle and levitated it behind him as he walked towards the castle doors, looking at people passing as he went. Students were spread out across the grounds, lounging the Saturday morning away with their idle chatting. Pupils whom he would soon have to teach. A knowing smirk tugged at the man's features as this amusing thought crossed his mind. He was quick to stifle the smirk with a look of placid indifference as he let himself into the castle, gently pushing open the large door and bringing in his luggage behind him.
He let the door fall closed behind him and halted his walking, soaking up the new environment slowly. Another sign of the students day off was noticeable as he spotted several groups of young adults mulling about. Several of the faces looked familiar, Evan was easily able to see the students whose parents he knew or associated with. He had seen them around at socials and events, remembering most faces. It was best to remember, as he always said.
Evan glanced around, looking for one particular face amongst the crowds of young people. A face that would resemble his own, with eyes that would look like his wife's. It wasn't long before he spotted the boy he had been looking for. With him was a young woman. The Troy man raised an eyebrow as he watched them interact, not making himself known yet.

" Matty! Heeey Matty! " Emeric was practically screaming down the hallway to get his girlfriend's attention. Before she could respond he started into a jog and met her halfway. " Hi, love. Heading in for late breakfast? Mind if I join you? " It was Saturday morning and Em had spent some time lounging around the Slytherin Common Room before he made his way up and out of the dungeons to go to brunch. He was glad he had seen the girl, there was nothing worse than eating in the Great Hall alone with a couple of younger housemates staring at him awkwardly.
Emeric wrapped an arm around the Hufflepuff girl and planted a light kiss on the girl. He smiled, happy to see her. Saturday mornings were generally for quidditch practice or homework. But as both things were scheduled for later that weekend Em made a mental note to later ask Matty if she would like to spend the day doing... whatever it was she wanted to do with him.
" I'm hungry... " He mumbled to her as he felt his stomach grumbling, a small grin on his face as he gently tugged the girl's hand, attempting to lead her to the hall, and eventually food. He liked food, and he liked her, so it was natural that the two things would come together sooner or later.

Matty hadn't been paying much attention to her surroundings. She had slept in, after staying up late last night to get through all of her homework, in order to have a free weekend. With things as they were, both her and Emeric had slipped into a routine that generally allowed them to spend most of the weekend together. In order to keep it that way, she hadn't minded staying up late to finish her work, which meant sleeping in on Saturday was something she could enjoy. Since getting up she had changed into [click] a more presentable outfit. As she made her way to the Great Hall alone, the sudden yelling of her name became apparently. "Matty! Heeey Matty!" his voice immediately made her smile, as the Hufflepuff turned to meet the sight of her boyfriend jogging to where she was. He looked good, as always, having been raised from a family that must have had good taste in presentation. Matty was just glad that she had a sense in style too, or so she thought so anyway. "Of course Em, you don't seriously think I would pass up an opportunity like that, do you?" she replied, meeting his kiss with a smile. Feeling a tug on her hand out of eagerness, the teenager proceeded to pull his arm so it was around her waist, slipping her own arm around his, despite their slight height difference. Matty may have been older, but Emeric could definitely pass for the same age as her, if not older. "You boys and your food..." she teased, in mock whine, glancing up to him with a grin.

Emeric grinned at her initial response, knowing that she was glad to see him but still happy to be reminded of that fact. She looked wonderful, of course, as she always did, and he felt the need to voice that. " That would just be terrible. You look lovely dear. " He smiled down at the girl, slipping his arm as she tugged it around her waist. He pulled her a little closer and kissed the top of her head. He wasn't really sure what had gotten him into such a good mood, but he was happy.
" Well I have to eat so I can get big and strong. " He chuckled at the small joke, though his easy going grin stopped in it's tracks as he turned and spotted a familiar face. A little too familiar. " Merlin... " His eyes widened and he stopped making his way towards the Great Hall, standing still instead. He tried to remember somethign that would have told him of his father's arrival at the school. What was he there for? Visiting? Em hadn't any clue why the man would make the trip to the school when he lived in Ireland and worked in the Ministry.
" M-my dad. " He choked out, confusion building up inside of him.

Matty glanced up at Em as he complimented her on looking nice. It never ceased to make her stomach do a small flip whenever he passed such a comment, something so simple that seemed to make her feel good about herself. The Slytherin had the ability to do that. "Thank you sweetheart, you don't look so bad yourself." it was a usual jest, but Matty knew her boyfriend would see the kindness behind it. Feeling a kiss on the top of her head, the teenager also couldn't deny the fact that her boy was in a rather affectionate mood this morning. It was nearing close to a year that they had been together, and the difference between then and now seemed like an entire lifetime ago.
"Big and strong, hey? Well, good thing it's working. Who else would protect me?" she provoked, grinning all the same, feeling safe and comfortable walking next to his built figure. Emeric wasn't a gym junkie sort of guy, but she did know he took care of himself. If need be, he would be able to defend himself, or her even, physically or magically, even mentally. He wasn't all brawn after all. It did come as a surprise though, when the Slytherin lad stopped walking altogether, his eyes fixed on something in the Entrance Hall.
When shifting her view to try and see what he was looking at, Em spoke. His dad? It couldn't be. Matty glanced around rather feverishly, when finally, her green eyes fixed on a man that was a spinning image of the boy beside her. His build, his looks, even the way in which he presented himself screamed Emeric Troy. But the confusion in her boyfriend's voice made it obvious that the Troy son had not been expecting his father. Matty immediately took on the toll of worrying, thinking perhaps something had happened to do with his mother or brother perhaps. She had no idea what was going through the boy's mind, though.
"Em," she uttered, giving him a gentle push with the back of her arm. "Go, go on." she whispered to him, trying to usher him into approaching the man. "Do you want me to just meet you inside?" she questioned kindly, not wanting to give her first impressions on Emeric's dad if it was something serious. But if he wanted her there, she wouldn't leave him either. But all the same, it was too late to reverse any hopes of actually introducing herself as Em's girlfriend - that fact was already pretty obvious, Matty assumed.

He didn't really know what to think. One part of him jumped to conclusions, assuming that he had done something wrong in the past twenty four hours that would make his father want to visit Hogwarts, a school he had always bashed, having attended Durmstrang Institute. Another part of him wondered if he was here on ministry business, but nothing he could thinkg of about his father's job had to do with Hogwarts. He dealt with international affairs... maybe Hogwarts would be hosting an event... he hoped.
' Do you want me to meet you inside? ' Emeric stood frozen, unsure. " No. Yes... I don't know. He's already seen us. " His chocolate brown eyes latched onto the dark blue ones of his father and he knew he had been caught.
He looked down, away from his father's slightly terrifying gaze. The man was a powerhouse, made to control and Em felt himself weekening under his scrutiny. " Maybe we should just go and... talk to him. " He didn't much like that idea, really, but he knew he would be punished in some way if he didn't at least acknowledge his father's presence. He didn't like this and began once again running through a list of things he could have done. Nothing came to mind, as he had been doing well in lessons and socially... Fear lingered in the boy's eyes as he gazed at the ground.

Matty knew that the relationship between Emeric and his fathered different from that of her own. He had grown us as his fathers son, and from what the girl knew, their bond was based on allot of tradition and respect for your parents. Not only that, but the Troy's were a proud family, they took pride in the fact that they were so pure, professional, polite and raised well. At least, that was part of what Matilda had heard from the rare times in which Em did speak of his family. In many ways, the teenager admired the respect her boyfriend maintained for his father, though she knew he also had allot to live up to.
It seemed that with his increasing nerves, the Slytherin's emotions washed over to the Hufflepuff. She was beginning to feel nervous, too. Mr Troy knew nothing of who she was. Emeric had explained that he told his parents of her, but they weren't to know her name or background, it was the safest way they could continue to date without further prying from his family. But how would his father reaction to seeing Em with some 'random' girl? He knew nothing of her family, her background, her blood line, her house, even her name or age. Matilda could only assume he wouldn't approve of this lack of knowledge, even thought both her and Em had been fine with it since the beginning, deception was probably not a high trait of her boyfriend's father's list.
The teen stood there for another moment in silence, clinging herself tight to the taller, broader figure. "Okay... but if you want me to leave, just give me some sort of sign, alright?" she murmured to him, before freeing up her seemingly anchored feet to allow Emeric to lead her to his father. All the while her nerves were running higher and higher.

Evan watched them squander, fumbling over one another. It was a little pathetic, really, so he looked elsewhere. Blue eyes wandered to another group of students, glancing to them instead. Occasionally he would look back over to his son and the young woman, noticing after a few short seconds that they pair had begun to walk toward him. Eyebrows lifted in a curious manner, he hadn't thought it possible for his son to walk up to him as a man, address his concerns. Interesting indeed.
He watched as they neared him, noticing the small exchanges between them. There was no doubt in the man's mind that this was the girl who had stolen Emeric's attention. And why not? She was good looking, well groomed. Probably popular and well known throughout the school. It was always the same with these girls, they would take his son's attention for a month or two, he would get bored and move on, leaving a trail of hearts behind him. A shame.
" Son, who is this lovely lady on your arm? "
He spoke first, addressing his son so the youth could respond accordingly without putting his feet in his mouth as he usually did.

" A sign... as in... run for your life? Ha... " Emeric tried to be witty, he tried to be funny even, made the attempt but it was a definite no-go. It was like he was frozen to the spot, no place to go and nothing to see. The fifth year didn't know who to look at, his father whose eyes were boring into him? Or his girlfriend, who looked like she needed a bit of reassurance? He wasn't sure, but as he was much more fond of Matty he looked up and met her eyes with his own.
" You'll be fine. " He nodded with a hesitant smile. I'll be fine. He reassured himself as well... He thought he needed it. He managed to unglue his own feet from the floor and started walking, his fingers intertwined with Matty's, giving him some sort of power to get mobile.
' Son, who is this lovely lady on your arm? '
Em cleared his throat before he spoke, giving the Hufflepuff's hand a light squeeze as he talked. " This is Matilda Wentworth, sixth year Captain of the Quidditch team. And my girlfriend. " He somehow was able to keep his voice from shaking, and glanced between Matty and his father as he spoke once more. " Matty, this is my father, Evan Troy. "

As much as Matty suspected Emeric had tried to put a light edge on the situation, for both his and her sake, it hadn't worked all that well. She could tell he was nervous, or confused, or something along the lines of not knowing just why on earth his father was here. But she had to put on a brave face, perhaps the situation wasn't as bad as they were thinking it through to be, and Matilda didn't want to be worrying and sending Em into a reel of nerves if it wasn't at all the case. However, his reassurance made her feel slightly more at ease, even the hesitant smile seemed to make her feel more confident before a man of which she knew so little about.
The teenager walked along side him, staying close, but not too clingy. "This is Matilda Wentworth, sixth year Captain of the Quidditch team. And my girlfriend." Emeric's reply to his father's question would have generally made her blush, but at the moment, she kept the feeling to herself. To be honest, the two hadn't had much practice of introducing each other as 'my girlfriend' or 'my boyfriend'. At least not in a formal matter, that is.
And as the introduction to his father was spoken by Em, Matilda reached out her free hand and extended it to the man to shake. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Mr Troy." she said politely, finding surprisingly a gentle smile was able to grace her young face. In return, she gave the boy's hand a small squeeze too, a response to knowing they were both doing okay.

Nothing went unnoticed by the man, every small gesture, fleeting glance, exasperated sigh coming primarily from his son. Nothing. The girl, though, reacted a little differently to him.
She didn't seem to want to cower and run off as much as Emeric did... a sign of bravery, or her just being foolish? Quite possibly a combination of the two he assumed. It was also logical to think that she was merely putting on a brave face for the two of them. Interesting indeed.
Evan, too, extended his arm and shook the girl's hand gently. Best not to break her.
" Just as it is a pleasure to meet you, Matilda. " While his son had addressed the girl by both Matilda as well as Matty he decided it was best to keep up the formalities, especially if the girl wanted to remain on his best side. He reflected lightly on his son's word, sixth year. A year older than him, that was something... and the Quidditch Captain of a house team... although the girl wasn't dressed in school robes to reflect her house, he was almost positive that she didn't belong to Slytherin House. Maybe something more fluffy such as Gryffindor or Hufflepuff. It was no matter to him, really...
Evan dropped his hand back to his side after a polite shaking and said, " Now where are you two off to this morning? Shouldn't you be tending to your studies? " The second question was directed more so at his son than the young lady standing next to him.
She was polite, that was true as well. And obviously established in some sort of way if she was sixth year and the Captain of the quidditch team. Usually that position was reserved for seventh years. Luckily for the two adolescents standing before him, he hadn't quite made up his mind yet on whether or not this ' arrangement ' was acceptable. He would have to see.
