Accepted! Welcome to Hogwarts!
[Full Character Name: ] Violetta Gianna Lumley
[ Character Gender: ] Female
[ Country of Citizenship: ] England
[ Physical Character Description: ] Vi's been in trouble with the muggle law before and has heard these facts through and through: "A female, 5 feet, with long, blonde hair has just escaped the scene. Small build and really speedy for a rotten teenager." According to police files, she's not yet old enough to be placed in a juvenile hall but old enough to know better. She usually can access wherever she needs to be, for she always seems to look older than she truly is. Her bright blue eyes seem to sparkle intensely when a wicked idea hits, or when she causes chaos. She's pretty perfectly proportioned and extremely flexible, ideal when she's making a break for it or when she just needs to get in/out of a tight spot. Her skin is ivory, almost hauntingly white. Her make-up is usually pretty natural, as she has no time to make a fuss.
As for her style, appearances had never been more deceiving. When she isn't roaming the streets or hanging with her friends, she wears pastel-colored dresses, feminine cut tops, and lovely skirts, along with a pair of charming flats. She finds that by dressing this way people put more trust into her, foolishly, of course. When she's out with the boys, though, she's wearing dark hoodies and skin tight jeans, along with a pair of Converse shoes. Her Converse shoes are the pride of her closet. She owns as many colors and designs as possible, her favorite pair being a silver metallic pair.
[ Personality Character Description: ] Vi's a strong person and has been known to shake off emotion before she can care about anyone else's. She's ruthless and is hell-bent on living life the way that she sees fit: having fun regardless of anything and anyone. She's rebellious and can be egotistical at times. Vi's definitely a hedonist and isn't afraid to butt heads when something conflicts with her personal beliefs. To everyone else, she seems like a bold and crazy girl, but she shows fierce loyalty and compassion to those who show her the same. It's not difficult for Vi to make friends, but it is difficult for her to keep them. It seems that people make her out to be a sweet and caring girl but are surprised to find that appearances can be deceiving. In her life, Vi realized that the truth, no matter how hurtful it seems, is much better than lies. She hides nothing from no one and always is up front with people, brutally honest in her relationships. When it comes to authority, however, Vi's a world-champ liar and can alter her emotions and gestures to fit whatever alibi she makes up. She isn't shy at all and can be loud, oftentimes obnoxiously so.
[ History: ] Violetta Gianna Lumley was born to Patrick and Sadie Lumley as a brunette. Patrick and Sadie were both practiced in wizardry/witchcraft, both Hogwarts alumni, and both only 19. They were married, but not happily. Back at Hogwarts they thought that their love was meant to be, the stuff of fairy-tales and legends. After struggling at a low-budget ministry job and caring for a hopeless, crying baby, the two were hit with the reality of life outside of the Hogwarts Castle. They had tried to keep the relationship together for the sake of their daughter Violetta and their newborn daughter Zooey Ava Lumley, but found that they were just too different people, different from who they were at the beginning of their marriage.
It was a rainy August night, the sky black velvet and not a star to be found. Under the cover of darkness Patrick fled from this complicated life, leaving his wife and his daughters behind. He left both of his daughters a silver locket with their initials engraved on the front, and left a letter and some money for his ex-wife. Little Vi woke up the next morning, a tender child, told that her father was gone to parts unknown. Her mother Sadie tried her best to raise the girls, but fell into a bout of alcoholism after working 3 jobs tirelessly day in and day out. Vi was basically left to raise her sister in the grimy apartment complex, only one year ahead of her in life experience. It was tough, but Vi showed unending support and love for her sister, something that neighbors found to be heart-warming.
It wasn't until the age of 7, however, when Vi found out that with her mother away at work (or passed out), she had unlimited freedom to do what she pleased. Vi was so young when this limitless liberty hit her, and she took more than she could handle. She dyed her hair blonde, changed her clothing style, and began to act rebellious in muggle grade school. She would act out in class and purposely cause trouble, realizing that her dear old mum would be too tired to care or worry. She took advantage of a delicate situation. It was at this time when Vi truly understood what her father had done to her family, jeopardizing her mother's health, her sister's education, and most importantly everyone's well-being. She took her mother's wand one night and began to smack the locket she once held so dear. She had never been so furious in her lifetime, her blue eyes intense, filling to the brim with tears. She found herself still hitting the locket, but it was slowly levitating off of the table it had been set on, acting like some strange punching bag. It glowed a fierce orange color, and blue sparks were emitting from the wand. She dropped the wand and the locket fell from suspension. Vi took the locket and ran outdoors to the town water-tower and dropped it from the very top.
Her friends were mostly skateboarding boys who caused all sorts of problems in and around town. Vi was the only girl allowed to hang out with them because she could easily beat each and every one of them to a pulp, and could rip up a skatepark faster than the boys could catch up. She was regarded as the second in charge, right after Bane Calloway. The two were always on the verge of fighting or flirting, something that no one could understand. Bane was the only one who could keep her under control, who could almost understand her tough front. He made her feel safe and protected, and promised to never leave her if she needed him. He himself had a father who left the family early on, and grew up in similar conditions as Vi did. She always acted like Bane was only another one of the guys, but deep down he was her best friend and closest confidant.
Vi was kicked out of nearly every muggle grade school in the area, forcing her to homeschool herself. Her sister Zooey, however, did marvelous in school and had excellent grades...Vi made sure of it. One day Vi received a letter to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Her mother was relieved...she was finally going to a normal school. Zooey hugged her sister tight with tears in her eyes, telling her that she was so proud, begging her not to leave. Vi saw this letter as not only a letter but as a ticket out of her miserable life.
[ Pros and Cons : ] Vi's pros are kind of tough to dig out, but can be found. She's dedicated to whatever she puts her mind to, and loyal time and time again to those who show the same devotion. She is physically nimble and her level of focus and concentration when on a task (for good or for worse) are unparalleled. She also finds magic to be intriguing, something that no one ever exposed her to. Vi's heard things about Hogwarts from the neighbors and from her mother, stories of Hogsmeade and the Great Hall, and the Houses, but she knows that there's so much more to it than that.
The cons of Vi are almost the same as her personality: egotistical, vain, rebellious, bold, a disregard to rules and laws, and an almost cold exterior. These traits aren't always a bad thing, but can certainly cause mayhem when used at inappropriate times.
[Role Playing Example:]
Vi scrunched her nose up at the disgusting stench of the owlery. It was covered from ceiling to floor with feathers of every dull color; onyx black, dirt brown, powdery white, and she even spotted a couple speckled feathers with a culmination of the array. She searched the area for her owl, Zoom, a small mid-night black one. She need not have looked, for it dove into the room and zipped past her ear, landing on the shoulder of her white leather jacket. "God, Zoom, what took you so long?" She ripped the letter out from his clutches and then noticed the rather hurt look on his face. She half-smiled and then patted him on the head lightly. "You're a good owl. Dumb, but good." He hooted happily and flew off.
She tore the letter open, hungry for news from back home. She spied the curvy handwriting, realizing that it belonged to her sister, Zooey. She read quickly:
Hey Vi!
Home is a drag...you knew that, though! I miss you like crazy...Mom does, too. (She just won't admit it.) She finally dropped that one job at the muggle office...thank goodness! It was just horrid how she actually had to act normal and stuff...whatever. Hope Hogwarts is a blast...I hope I get in when I get old enough! Then we could hang out together!
Vi chuckled quietly at her sister's eagerness. She loved her sister Zooey more than anything she'd ever known.
I hope you haven't gotten into any trouble, Vi. The police are basically bored to death without you here!!
She smirked, remembering all the times she'd run from them, all of the chases that went for miles, how she knew every single guy (or girl) on the force by first name basis. Those were the days.
Bane's been looking for you. He really thinks that you've gone away to some uppity-private-school-institution. He's really proud, but I think he realizes that something's up. It wouldn't hurt to drop a line, doll. I've gotta go help Mom with groceries or whatever...I'm sure the food there is godly next to Mom's casserole...haha.
I'll talk to you soon.
Behave!
Love,
Zooey
Vi scanned the paper. Bane's been looking for you. She felt her heart leap, but it was a foolhardy motion. Bane was only her best friend, nothing more, but to know that he was worried made her happy. Not too happy, mind you, but happy enough to feel cared about.
She exited the owlery and walked down the tower stairs. Her silver high-top Converse shoes shone in the sun beaming from the windows above. She tossed her wavy blonde hair and glared at a passing student. The student was taken aback, and looked behind and around to see what was glare-worthy. The truth was that she had glared on a whim, adding to her tough girl stereotype. She laughed under her breath and continued down corridor, back to the Common Room.
Actually, maybe not. Maybe she would go to the Great Hall and then cause some chaos in the hallway just for kicks.
Vi went with Plan B, making her way towards the Great Hall with a dangerous look on her face, a face that could only be looking for mischief.
