Ah, Autumn. The smell of change littered the air, colored the trees, and curdled the waters. Ok, so things weren't too different, but if felt as if October was just stretching further and further and further on. It used to be one of his favorite months, never felt short with a flurry of activity, but he honestly couldn't wait for November to come, and that was one of his least favorite months. The difference was the Hogsmeade trip, he was finally old enough to go! How cool was that? He'd get to explore the candy shop and the joke shop everyone was always coming back with armloads from. Even if he didn't have a whole lot of money, it'd be awesome nonetheless. Him and Jeremy were going to rule the village for the day!
Unfortunately, the trip was toward the end of the month and he still had a few weeks left to go through, but it couldn't be nearly as bad as October feeling like three months gone by. Seriously, what was with that?
Sitting down on a plot of, thankfully, dry grass, Brenton stretched his short legs out in front of him and leaned back on his elbows. He saw a lot of people do this, and it just looked so cool, so he had to try it. There didn't seem to be much going on from what he could see, and thought a few times about changing his spot, but it was a good spot, right in the sun and dry. Seriously, he needed jesters to boss around, he'd have to think about getting himself some.

G had been taking to the grounds more and more frequently as the Autumn progressed. Not only did she love the crispness of the air and the colors of Autumn but she wanted to enjoy the outdoors as much as possible before they turned into the cold wet mess that was winter. Today the grounds were alive with movement so she decided to take a different path as she walked around the grounds. It was because she had chosen to stray away from where she usually walked close to the lake shore that she came across a boy sitting on the grass quite on his own.
She studied him as she drew nearer. He was leaning back in a way the made him look quite relaxed and at ease, but G knew from experience that this particular pose could be quite uncomfortable on the elbows; for her at least. She considered going up and talking to the boy but he seemed rather content on his own so instead of going up and talking to him, she simply smiled as she walked past in front of him.

The scene was so dull! What was wrong with people? Couldn't they enjoy a nice day outdoors like he was trying to do? Ugh! It disgusted him that no one was in front of him for amusement. Certainly he'd be able to find a few that would have nothing better to do with their lives than devote themselves to him? Where was Jeremy when he needed him? Probably with someone else. It was about time he constructed another plan to make sure he and the Ravenclaw were still buddies.
As he gazed about, thinking of changing his position to one where he could see more, a girl walked right into his view. Or, he thought it was a girl, he couldn't really be sure without his glasses which were tucked faithfully in his back pocket as always. A Prince didn't not where such things, and to think anyone would try to tell him otherwise. Of course he'd had them beheaded.
But then the strangest thing happened, it smiled at him. Looking sideways, the boy searched for another sole nearby, but wasn't able to find one. Him? Who was this person who dared...well, whoever it was was passing right on by him and he had to stop it. "Hey!"
