Allegra smiled and bounced her heels against the rock she was sitting on. She still knew a few people around the school, but with her brother's class leaving, she was now going to know fewer. Even so it wasn't like Allegra really hung out with many of the seventh years. They were all her brother's friends.
But getting to know Felicity would be nice. Maybe she'd have someone to hang out with and possibly they wouldn't miss Drew so much.
"It's going to be different once the seventh years are gone," she sighed, looking over at the Gryffindor with a crooked little smile. "I've seen Drew around for so long, it's going to be weird not having him around so close by."

"It's going to be different once the seventh years are gone"
Those words struck a chord with Felicity. It was going to be different. Terribly different. Felicity was awfully close to a number of the seventh years, Caleb, Lucas, Alexander, not to mention she knew so many others, though most of those she considered as Drew's friends, not hers. And of course Drew was leaving, and what Allegra had to say next made her feel a little depressed. Drew was leaving.
Almost since day one he was there for her to see. While at first it wasn't that she looked for him everywhere in the castle, she had enjoyed running into him when she did, and not to mention she liked being able to round corners and randomly run into the blue-eyed Ravenclaw. And now, well, now she was used to having him extremely close by. It was rare she didn't search him out of a crowd, and now that he was going to be gone she would have more time to spend with her other friends, not that he kept her from doing so, but by choice she choose to spend time with him over others.
"I think so, too," the blonde mumbled carefully, not sounding upset about the thought, but at the same time fearing what would happen without him so near. "Allegra?" she started quietly. "Why didn't you leave Hogwarts?"
Perhaps a little forward, but she was curious. No one else stayed on that she was aware of, so why did Drew's sister?

The question caught her off guard and while she didn't usually go around explaining her reasons, she somehow felt comfortable enough with the Gryffindor to be able to admit the truth to her.
"I was scared to go," she answered with an embarrassed shrug. "I've been here for so long that the thought of being anywhere else made me nervous. The funny thing is I was the one who wanted to come here in the first place. See new places and have new adventures. Now the thought of being all grown up and in the big world is just really frightening."
"Drew said you were thinking about studying animals in Kenya," she said, looking over at Felicity. The thought of going that far was something Allegra couldn't even consider.

It made sense, her answer. Being frightened of what was to come in an unpredictable future. Allegra knew Hogwarts, had for years, she knew what to expect even after graduating, but if she liked adventure, wasn't she settling? Or did Hogwarts still provide that much adventure to the girl? Felicity thought Hogwarts was an exciting, adventurous place, but she hadn't ever been outside of public schooling in London, nor had she ever been on her own like this before either. Everything was new to her, the magical aspect, the freedom, Drew.
A slow smile crept across her face in answer, a nod followed. "Erumpents," she told the older Thornton. "I'd like to study Erumpents, but I'm still not completely sure about it. I mean, it's really far from my family, and from Drew, but he and I talked about stuff and he seems to think it's a good idea, what we talked about, but I know my dad isn't going to like it. Nor my mum, but she'd be more understanding about it all. It's just, it'd be a great opportunity if I could do it, but I don't know..."

"Erumpents would be cool," Allegra agreed, though she understood the qualms about leaving family to go so far away. The older girl also couldn't help but notice Felicity mentioned Drew in there as well. Allegra knew he was concerned about her being so far, but like the Gryffindor had said, he seemed pretty sure that it was the right thing to do.
"I think parents are always concerned about when their kids want to go so far away," Allegra said with a sympathetic smile. "My mom especially keeps trying to get me and Drew to move back home. She kind of relaxed a little when my aunt and uncle moved to London, but now she's talking about it again because Drew is done with school."

"You have no idea," Felicity muttered under her breath in response to Allegra's comment about parents. Felicity's dad still made sure someone walked with her everywhere, which was why she was ecstatic when her dad worked days she had off because her mum would let her go out alone somewhere, not often, but often enough. When she was younger, she understood why her dad was so protective, but she didn't fully understand why he was now. She could handle herself in most cases, just not when it came down to using magic a whole lot, but her dad didn't seem to be entirely interested in the magic stuff, so she didn't bother telling him too much of that, just that she was a little behind and Drew often helped her so she could catch up.
Lowering her gaze, Felicity wondered why Mrs. Thornton didn't just move out to the U.K. If Allegra was out there, and Drew seemed content in staying out there, and she didn't want them to, why didn't she and Mr. Thornton just move? After all, there was a sister involved who had a husband and family in London area, so why not move out to all of them? Of course, she wouldn't suggest that to either Drew, and most definitely not Allegra, but she did wonder. Especially since she had heard the Deva was more prominent in the USA than the UK.
"Do you think he would, once he's done with auror training?" Felicity asked off-handedly. While she and Drew discussed the subject and he was noncommittal about definite plans after auror training (other than those to be with her if that's where life lead them), she wondered if he'd be happier in the United States of America where his parents and grandmum were, as well as the ocean he loved so much.

Allegra had a good idea, but from what Drew had said, their mother had nothing on Felicity's dad when it came to over protectiveness. Mrs. Thornton had never been thrilled over the idea of her children going to school abroad, but had allowed it to happen. And there had been times when she had threatened to move to London, almost as many times as she had threatened to pull her children out of school, but she had always agreed that Hogwarts was the best option.
Until two summers ago. Allegra had already gotten her job at school and had insisted that she could not back out. Their mother had argued forcefully, concerned about the safety at the school, demanding that both Allegra and Drew stay in the states, but it had been Drew who had made her back down. He had agreed that she had the right to keep him out of school, but he had made it clear that as soon as he turned 17, he'd be back at Hogwarts.
"He seems pretty set on staying over here permanently," Allegra answered with a small smile and a shake of her head. Drew had talked about staying in the UK even before he met Felicity, but now it seemed much more definite and not just a probability. Mrs. Thornton still tried to convince them both to move back home, but Allegra knew her mom was pretty proud Drew was set on becoming an Auror.

The UK was Felicity's home, she couldn't really think about leaving it for a lengthy period of time; visits were going to be a requirement no matter where she ended up later in life. While Drew came from the United States, she often wondered how he could stand to be away from it for so long. Schooling, his job over the past summer, and he only spent one week at home even though his parents were in Europe for a little while. The UK was what Felicity knew, she knew how to live there peacefully (or at least somewhat so) and even though she'd told Drew she would be willing to consider another place, with him, she knew she'd be visiting as often as possible.
"Even after training?" she asked, looking at Allegra intensely. Sure, Drew had told her multiple times the UK had the best Auror program, but that didn't mean he'd have to stay afterward. And what if she didn't return to live in the UK, what then?

Allegra looked a little worried, not sure how to answer. Drew had seemed pretty set on staying, but Felicity didn't seem so sure about it. Maybe she had assumed too much about her brother and his girlfriend.
"I... I think so," Allegra answered, figuring Felicity probably had better information that she did. Of course, Drew had been talking about staying in London even before he met the pretty blonde Gryffindor. He had been talking about staying in London even as far back as Alhana. "Did he... say he wasn't?"

"No," Felicity answered quickly, shaking her head in the process. "Well, I mean, he's said that he's willing to move..." and then she paused. What if Drew didn't want Allegra to know what he'd told Felicity about being willing to move where she was so they could be together? Though she was more than willing to move where he wanted to be, just to be with him. "But he's never said he didn't want to be in the U.K.
"I just...well, I mean, he and I talked about things, but I'm just worried that he might change his mind and not want to leave, and if I don't come back..." Then it was never meant to be, and Felicity couldn't think of it like that. It had to be meant to be, she loved him so much, and he loved her, right? So it had to be meant to be.

"He doesn't change his mind very easily," Allegra answered, though she wasn't sure if that was a good thing or a bad thing in this case. The older Thornton knew her brother had been planning to stay in the UK and be an Auror for a long time and she couldn't imagine him switching his decision this late in the game.
On the other hand, she knew how much he liked Felicity. If she went to Kenya, would he still want to stay in London? "What do you mean you guys talked about it?" she asked. Maybe things with her brother and Felicity were more serious than even Allegra believed.

And that was something Felicity knew, something she was slightly afraid of. If Drew had his heart set on staying in the UK, how could she think he would be willing to uproot his plan and be with her if she didn't return? The plan was to wait out the three years, let him do this Auror training for the next three years, giving her time to finish school and spend a couple of years in Kenya deciding what she wanted to do. They'd agreed to talk it out afterwards, but she couldn't help but wonder the what if's.
"Well, we talked," Felicity shrugged, wondering how much she'd said that she shouldn't have. Drew probably hadn't wanted her to know, otherwise she would've know, right? "I mean, we talked about him and the academy, and me and Kenya."
Drew was going to be upset with her for going to Allegra about this, she knew it.

"Yeah, that's what he said," Allegra answered, not exactly sure how Felicity would feel about her knowing so much. Drew would tell her a lot of things, sometimes getting awfully mushy about how much he liked the Gryffindor girl (Allegra actually thought it was kind of cute), but didn't go into intimate details.
But how much was he exactly supposed to tell her? Allegra hoped Felicity wouldn't get mad at her for knowing so much, not when they seemed to be getting along so well. "He said you were going to be in Kenya while he finished training... but then after he's done?" Allegra knew an Auror trained in London could pretty much write his own ticket. Would Drew move to Africa?

It didn't really phase Felicity that Allegra mentioned that Drew had said something to her. Felicity figured, being siblings they must have talked, at least a little bit, and it didn't bother her that she knew about what they had spoken about. It was Drew's life as well, and he couldn't keep his plans secret from his family.
Nodding absentmindedly, Felicity and Drew had agreed to wait it out. While he was in the academy, she'd finish school and go to Kenya if she was hired. They would see each other as much as possible, she was hoping for at least once a month if not more, knowing she would miss him something terrible if she couldn't see him for a long period of time. Even if she got a weekend off a month and it didn't coincide with him having time off, she could still go to the UK to see him, and her family, but hopefully him first. If he had his own apartment, she could even stay with him maybe, just to spend a little bit of time with him. They could spend time together, and while he was at work, she could spend time with her family. Maybe, it was something they had yet to discuss and she didn't think they would until next summer, when she was done with school.
"I don't know..." Felicity trailed off, looking over at the older girl. "We decided to leave our options open, and see what happens between now and then."

"Oh..." Allegra answered, not sure if that was a good thing or a bad one. Leaving options open sounded like it could mean anything. It covered the expanse between finding a new job, living in a different place, or being with a different person. Allegra knew her brother well enough to know he wouldn't be too happy about any of those options.
"A lot can happen in a few years," she said, biting into her sandwich. She chewed and swallowed before taking a sip of tea. All she needed was to speak with food stuck to her teeth. Then again, she was about to be awfully forward and perhaps the distraction would serve to soften her bluntness. "What... are you hoping to happen?"
