[/size] Matty sighed with a smile as she closed the page she was reading of her potions text book. Well, wasn't that going to be a new challenge for this year ahead. To be quite frank, the teenager hadn't passed with marks that allowed her to continue the course in potions; a hurdle that potentially would have stopped the girl from pursing her career as a healer or mediwizard. Therefore, she had to seek out the help of her own head of house, and potions mistress, and ask for guidance and assistance. The alternative had been provided, that being that Matilda study extra hard, and volunteer as a student aid for a younger year. Heck, she could manage a Quidditch team, how hard could assisting a class be? The girl accepted with many thanks, grateful for the chance she had been given to improve this year. It wasn't that she hadn't passed in the first place, even, it was just that her mark didn't cut it for the class, and therefore, her over all career path for the future. And so, the teen had taken out a section of her weekend to study up on what would be classified as revision for her, and new material for the class she was helping the Potions Mistress with on Monday. Really, the Hufflepuff didn't mind. After all, she could think of worse things she may have had to do to get extra credit. Something along the lines of cleaning out storage jars of ingredient wasn't got something the girl was keen on doing in her spare time. Even so, after an hour of learning her facts inside and out, as well as completing her own homework, the youth was starved for some relaxing. She stood up, and brushed off the fragments of lint from her navy dress that reached her knees, stretching after doing so. The girl then proceeded to slipping on a pair of black flats, whilst grabbing her camera from the coffee table. Once outside of the castle, the teenager realized how beautiful the grounds were at this hour. The sun was barely setting, the sky now being a chalkboard full of rich colours that seemed to warm up the late September air. With a smile, the short yet slim sixth year ventured down to the lake side, collapsing on the ground among a path of soft grass mixed with wild flowers. Matilda took the cap of the lens, before holding the magical camera to her eye level. Facing the lake, clicked once down, surveying the image for a few moments, before clicking it again to finish the shot. She flopped back, her knees arching up, as the girl held the camera to her eye once more. Again, she began to focus it on the colours of the sky, only to have a shadow fall into her light.

[emmy? guh. ] The day was long and the sun was bright, meaning that Emeric would most likely be found in one of two places. The first option, simply due to the nice weather, would be outside. The second option however, referred only to the length of the day, and the boy would be found inside, working on the mounds of homework he had only just recently acquired. Being a fifth year, as he was discovering, wasn't a picnic that he would like to be in attendance at. He had finally begun to understand what Matty had been talking about last year, and it wasn't even that far into the term. Procrastination did the world wonders, however, and Emeric decided that on this particular Saturday, he would practice some Quidditch. Try outs were going to be held soon and he needed to be back on his a-game. The fifteen year old adolescent shouldered his broom as he made his way down to the team locker rooms and changed into a pair of running shorts and a plain tshirt. His practice was a short one, as there wasn't much he could do alone, and he didn't really feel like asking the Captain, Manning, for some extra help. The guy was alright, but due to the fact that he held some power over Emeric at all, the younger boy thought the older one was a bit of a git. The sun shone brightly above the pitch as Em headed to the lockers once again for a shower and quickly changed back into a pair of black board shorts and a plain deep green shirt. He slipped his shoes back on left the pitch, wondering if it had been a waste of time to come down at all. Em was left without an agenda once again, so he began to wander around, first moving about a couple of trees on the grounds, and then proceeding to head to the lake. He didn't feel much like swimming, but the lake had always provided him with a peaceful place to just sit and think when he wanted to. Just out of the corner of his eye, Em spotted something, or rather, someone that looked awfully familiar looking to him. Without a thought, a smile broke out onto his face, lighting up his features in an instant. He wondered what she was doing, laying on the ground as she was with that... funny thing... in her hand. What was it called again? Cam'rah? Something to that effect. He knew they had talked about them once or twice before, just in passing. Walking closer to the girl, Em sidelined his broomstick, leaving it several yards away from the lake, just in case. He waited until he was standing right over Matty before he said anything at all. " You know... it's not very lady like to lay on the ground and take... pictures, unless a gentleman is with you. " He left the comment open for jabs on her part, and he preferred it that way. Light traces of a smirk mingled with his smile as he continued to gaze down at Matty.

Over the period of time that Matty had had this camera, she hadn't used it as much as she would have liked. There was the first day - or rather morning - that she had taken up to the towers and captured sets of the rising sun. That morning she had also bumped into Professor Griffiths, and they had talked about a whole series of things. School. Life beyond school. A bit about their own past, even. In a way, it was nice to be able to have a real conversation with a Professor such as himself, but in another way, the girl knew that relationships like that weren't widely approved, despite the fact that Matilda Wentworth wasn't one to restrict her friends to her own age group.
The next time had been at home, when the girl had been unpacking her bag. Alright, so you weren't allowed to use magic outside of school, but it wasn't as if Matty was using her wand. Heck, she hadn't even brewed a potion, or used a potion to develop them - that had waited until school. And when they had been developed, the teenager found a whole range of pictures of herself and her brother. Those photo's now lay dormant, or not really dormant, considering they moved, in a photo albumn in one of the girl's draws. So really, today was only the third time that the girl had taken out the camera to muck around with. And she didn't even mind when interrupted by someone who always managed to bring a smile to her face.
The teen didn't stop what she was doing when Emeric's face came into view of the camera view-seeker. She merely snapped the shutter, holding it for a while, before clicking it again. Come to think, this was probably the first photo she had taken of Em since they started dating. And in that, a realization came to mind; they had been together for close to, or around about ten months now. It brought an even bigger smile to her face as Matilda lowered the camera to the ground beside her. "Well then, I'll have to excuse you then Emeric, I've best be going to find a gentleman to help me out." the girl grinned up at him, sitting up, yet keeping her head tilted up to the boy.

Emeric was tempted to just flop on the ground next to the girl and used the small amount of self control he had to not do so. He waited until she had finished taking his picture once, then twice. He didn't have to think about smiling for the photograph, just seeing Matty brought that annoying, goofy smile to his face. She looked nice today, her blond hair looking as if it captured the sunlight and reflected it as well. She looked beautiful as always, and Emeric was disappointed in himself to say that he hadn't told her that lately. Then again, he hadn't really seen Matty all that much lately. They hung out a couple of times throughout the summer, and they had seen one another at the feast, but this would be the first time that they got to truly hang out this year.
' Well then, I'll have to excuse you then Emeric, I've best be going to find a gentleman to help me out. '
Within a milisecond, his smirk was quick to return. He couldn't help it with a remark such as that one. He looked around a bit, glancing to a group of people gathered a ways away before looking back to Matty. " Ah well, unfortunately for you I don't see any gentlemen around, so I'll just have to suffice. " He lowered himself to the ground, turning his body so he was facing the girl now. She looked even prettier up close, if that was possible.

Despite the long amount of time the two had been together, out in the open now, Matty still found it a small challenge to adjust. The teen had gotten herself into such a routine of making sure no one was around when they spent time together alone, or when she would bump past him after class, just to sneak in a small, innocent appear brush of his hand - just to know that the girl could bear another few hours before being able to be with him again. These days it wasn't hardly as much a problem. They were as free and open with their relationship in public, as any couple was really. But even so, there was always that sensor in the back of her mind, just in case.
When Emeric spoke, Matty's smile broadened into a grin. Even just looking at them, one from afar could see the kind of love the girl felt for the boy. He was more than just her best friend, he was a big part of her life now. It scared her, to know that someone meant that close, and yet, could be taken away if something went wrong. But at the same time, it was comforting to know that she was a part of Em's life, and that she would be there for him through and through. The girl had semi-zoned out to what he was saying, but the comment eventually sunk in. She moved so she closer to the Slytherin, letting her free hands lay gently over his legs.
"Mmm, I suppose you will do. After all, even if you aren't the most gentleman-like, you're defiantly the most handsome of them all." she said, her words playful, yet honest at the same time. It was true - Em was most gorgeous guy she knew, on the inside and the out. When they first met, the girl had been slightly intimidated by his looks; so proper, so perfect. Now that they had known each other for well over a year, the girl had come to love his goofy smile, and those moments when he really broke out from his usual smirk like smile. She really did love him.

Emeric's hands immediately went down to cover hers, parting her fingers slightly and replacing the empty space with his own. He felt suddenly warm, his entire body flushing slightly just from being close to her. The boy had assumed that eventually, that feeling would wear off slightly, but he found that it was just the same as it always had been when he was in the girl's presence. His usually pale cheeks shone with color as he laughed at her comment, finding everything to be so... easy. He had also assumed that the ease would go away eventually, but it never had. There had been stressful times in the beginning of the relationship before they were out in the open, but Emeric found that things were still rather easygoing between them.
" Ah, well I suppose I'd have to thank you for your latter comment. But really, not the most gentleman like? I'm the most gentlemanly guy I know. " He was playing himself up a bit he supposed, but he doubted even half of the guys at Hogwarts would know how to conduct themselves at a proper party, or know how to court a lady. Emeric was glad that Matty didn't come from the same background as him, it would have made things different from the get-go, and he was perfectly fine with the way things were now. His parents knew he had a girlfriend, but they surprisingly didn't pry too much about who she was.
He glanced up to Matty, his joking teasing smile in place and leaned forward slightly, placing a soft kiss on the girl. It was the same as it had been since he had first kissed her, a little exciting, and a little unnerving. He didn't think he could love any feeling more. " I missed you, you know? "

A smile lit up Matty's as soon as she felt Emeric's hand slip between her own. It seemed that whenever she was with her boyfriend, a smile seemed to grace her face. It was impossible to stop it, in all honesty. To be honest, he was one of, if not the main reason she did smile. To this day, they had never even had a fight that kept them apart. Sure, there may have been the are argument that lasted no longer than a minute or so, but Matilda couldn't recall anything else.
"I'm sure I could find a guy, or girl even, thats more gentlemanly than yourself. Take me for example," the Hufflepuff shot him a playful look, before sliding her hands out form his, pacing them on her hips, and puffing up her chest. She tilted her head up, and pouted her lips. "My dear Master Troy. I'm afraid that you have been out-gentleman-ized by a girl. What a disappointment that is." the comment was immediately followed by laughter, as Matilda deflated both her body, and her ego. "See? Not that hard at all." she stated, her hands dropping back to Em's own, just in time to lean forward and meet his kiss.
The feeling she felt during, and after that were the sorts of comfort, warmth, and happiness. She kept her head close to his after they broke, his comment reaching her ears softly. "Only half as much as I missed you." she confessed, while one of her hands reached up and gently rested around the back of his neck. Matty filled in the space between them with another heart-felt kiss, and not being able to resist smiling while doing so.

Emeric swiveled his head to the left, glancing up a tree's rustling leaves just up the way. It was slightly distracting, as were all of the other outside influences like the people walking by the lake and the birds chirping on and off. He wasn't sure why they were distracting him at that moment, but he turned his attention back to Matty. They were never really alone, which was a bit of something that bugged him. He didn't have devious intentions in mind, but he knew it would be rather nice to spend some time completely alone with the girl, like their camping night last fall. He reminded himself to ask Matty about doing something like that again... He wondered if she'd be up for it.
He pouted just slightly as Matty withdrew her hands from his own to put up a show. He watched her little act, a somewhat smug smile holding on his lips. " Are you trying to insinuate that I'm a disappointment, Miss Wentworth? " Their joking was all for the sake of fun, so the teen didn't let it shake up his ego too much.
' Only half as much as I missed you. ' He smiled in a somewhat shy manner, keeping his forehead lightly pressed against hers as his right hand reached for her left. He met her halfway for the kiss, turning his head slightly as his left hand reached up and gently caressed the girl's cheek. He broke the kiss, his thumb trailing softly against her skin. A smile was one his face and his voice felt small as he replied. " I'm not so sure that's possible, love. "

"Well, I surely hope thats not what you're implying, Mister Troy. After all," Matty paused for a moment, a grin displaying her playfulness, while she also did so for dramatic effect. "I'm not quite sure I'd like to be seen with someone who others think to be a failure. You better get your head in the game, love." okay, so the latter part of her comment had been pretty... silly sounding, in her posh voice and all, but the girl was almost certain it would make Em crack a larger smile, even a laugh. Even in doing, Matilda had been carefully to set herself limits in the past, when it came to things like pride (in any case) with her boyfriend. She didn't want to offend him, knowing that the boy had allot of self-worth for himself, and his family. Not that she would offend him on purpose anyway, but it was better safe than sorry, right?
As Emeric's hand reach for her own, the girl linked her fingers with his. The feeling of his hand gently grazing across her skin sent small shivers throughout Matty's body; a reaction to this type of touch that was yet to die out for the teenager. A smile graced her features as she look at Em, his words greeting her ears softly. "Either way, classes aren't the same without you." she made direct eye contact with him, to add to the point that she had really missed his company, even in classes. "So how has everything been? We've hardly spoken since the beginning of this term. Everything well? Your family too?" she asked, her words soft, yet tender.

It was indeed a fine line that Emeric walked between finding himself insulted by her jests or letting it slide off as the jokes they were. It had taken him a while to grow accustomed to Matty poking fun at his pride, he was used to it now, but before he had met the girl he wouldn't have taken so kindly to the jabs at him. He grinned, knowing that he didn't think himself a failure or anything close to it. " Darling, I don't know if you know this, but it's my game. " He winked at her as he reference her whole ' get your head in the game ' thing. He hadn't any idea where it came from in the conversation but found that it fit irregardless.
He nodded his head, thinking along the same lines, that classes weren't the same without Matty around. He even found himself missing the other former fifth years. Now that the whole group had gone on and were taking NEWT classes, it left Emeric to fend for himself when it came to lessons. " Maybe I'll actually do something this year... you won't be around to distract me. " He muttered to her with a sly smile. It was a good theory, anyway. He paused, thinking of what to answer. " Well, things have been good. Still getting back into things... Family is good. I suppose. " He shrugged his shoulders because there wasn't much to say about his family. They were still the same as they always had been.
" And you? How's being a big bad sixth year and all? "
