For the most part, Maya tried to ignore the worried whispers of the other students that were crowding around, but when she heard Beau frantically calling her name she looked up. Embaressment washed through her, causing her cheeks that were slightly pale with cold turn pink, but releif was close to follow. Maya was posative that she was too cold to make herself move toward the warmth of the castle, and while she was sure that one of the strangers that was milling about would have eventually gotten her there she was happy that it was Beau, someone she knew and liked, who was claiming the responsibility.
The shirt he draped around her enveloped her tiny frame and she snuggled into it. Even if it didn't do much against her soaking clothes, at least it was something. Maya attempted to smile up at Beau's anxious face, nodding to whatever he was telling her, but she wasn't sure if her frozen lips complied. As Beau lifted her off the ground, Maya's small hands clutched his shirt in an effort to stop their trembling, and buried her face into the warmth of his shoulder. "I'm re-really s-s-s-sorry," Maya mumbled through chattering teeth as her body instinctively huddled against the warmth of his chest. "I was ha-ha-having fun," she said before she closed her eyes and tried to focus on Beau's arms around her instead of how cold she was.

' Okay. I can do this. ' Beau didn't know why he needed to pep-talk himself, but he tried to keep this positive attitude going while he was secretly freaking out in the back of his mind. He hoped nothing happened to Maya, this was only their first date... He could hardly stand if she was hurt or worse.
" Don't be sorry, it's not your fault, really. I should've been paying more attention. " He offered up a smile but didn't know if she was even looking at him, his eyes were set ahead as he pushed past a couple of people in attempts to move into the castle quickly. " Do you want to go to the hospital or just somewhere warm? " He glanced down to the girl's shivering form and pulled her a little bit closer to his body, wanting for her to be warm. " Move, please. " His voice was soft yet demanding as he maneuvered past some kids who were just standing around doing nothing. He moved quickly, forgetting the broomsticks altogether.

The hoarse chuckle that sounded from Maya's pale lips sounded more like wheezing than laughter. "Fine," Maya said as she tilted her head back so she could see Beau's face, "I won't be s-sorry if you s-stop be-being silly. It wasn't your f-falt, just a stu-stupid bird." Maya rested her icy cheek against Beau's warm chest, and listned to the reasuring sound of his steady heartbeat. Stupid bird... Maya thought in a grumpy mood, How ironic. It was chance small talk about freedom, birds, and flight that had led to this moment. Dispite the cold, Maya was starting to feel rather comfortable, cradled like a kitten in Beau's arms.
"Just some place warm, not the hospital wing." A small smile touched her lips as she recalled another memory from their first meeting. "Maybe the kitchens? Its warm in there...I promise ne-next t-time I'll try not be a k-klutz." She looked up again to give Beau an apoligetic smile.

They were nearing the castle now and Beau had settled into a fast paced walk, which was somewhat difficult as he was conflicted between wanting to walk slowly and carefully and between walking as fast as he could to get to the castle. He smiled somewhat distractedly, wanting not to worry Maya as much as possible. " A bird, eh? Maybe I'll just have to keep you away from everything potentially dangerous. Ledges, heights, birds... I've a terribly difficult job ahead of me. " He joked the best he could, his smile still in place.
Beau nodded his head, " Yeah, the kitchens sound good. " He disregarded her comment about being a klutz but chuckled along with it instead. " Food, how does food sound? " Had he not been so rushed to get into the castle he knew he would be blushing. He would have had time to think about being so close to the Hufflepuff girl that he had grown fond of. But as it was, he didn't think of those things, only quickly walking up the steps and to the front doors. " Thanks, " he uttered quietly to a random kid who held the door for them, a concerned look on his bewildered face.
It was warmer in the castle already and he hoped that Maya could tell the difference as well.

"I'm not usually this high matenence," Maya defended herself halfheartedly, "I guess you just bring out the good and the bad in me. I hope you're up for it." Maya absently flicked a strand of her wet auburn bangs from her face as she watched the ground Beau was quickly covering change from grass to stone. A soft sigh of relief escaped her lips as she felt the warm air hit her cold damp skin. Maya didn't even glance at the dumbstruck boy how kindly held the door opened for them, she was too busy thinking about what she had just said. Was Beau up for it? Or had one too many freak accidents scared him off? A small crease appeared between Maya's brows and her full lower lip pouted slightly as she considered this rather unpleasant turn of events. Maya enjoyed spending time with Beau. He wasn't difficult to talk to and he didn't seem to judge her, not to mention he was easy on the eyes. The thought that she might have scared him off was not a happy one for her to think about.
"What?" she asked startled back from her gloomy thoughts, "oh food. Yeah, I'm always hungry after a swim," she joked, but she was still to lost in thought for any real amusement to show in her voice. She was now frowning at her tiny fists that were still clenched tightly on the front of Beau's shirt...that she now realized was rather wet. "Oops," she said releasing the fabric from her death grip at once, "I got your shirt all wet." She was about to say she was sorry again when she glanced up at Beau's face, smiled slightly, and decided against it.

Beau continued on, making sure to avoid the students that were walking by peering curiously at him and Maya who was still cradled in his arms. He varied his gaze from the Hufflepuff girl's mahogany colored eyes to his destination which was steadily getting closer and closer. ' I'm not usually this high maintenance. ' He cracked a grin at that comment, shaking his head slightly as he listened to the following words. " I think I can manage. " A small blush rose to his face and he whoped that she wouldn't really notice it. He didn't know what she meant, but he assumed he had handled it decently. He tried not to worry about it too much.
His chest rumbled with a low chuckle and a crooked smile lifted his lips. " Yeah, I've heard you should wait a while to eat after a swim, but I think we can make an exception, " he laughed again, stopping in front of the portrait of brightly colored fruit. " Huh? Oh, nah, it's okay. I was too... dry anyway. " He wasn't sure how to spin it so Maya didn't feel bad about it, so that was all he could come up with. " Would you do the honors? " He motioned to the pear, offering for her to tickle it and give them entry to the kitchens. " My hands are a bit full at the moment, " he joked with a small smile.
