It was the wrong time of year, and the wrong season for it, but the wind outside screamed ‘perfection’. Vanessa smiled brightly as she tried to untangle the thread from a very unique unicorn kite that she had just gotten in the mail that day from her parents. It was something she’d sent home for, and was excited to get it without one question as to why she would want the old thing. Oh yes, this would be so much fun, and over the Great Lake, Vanessa figured would be the most wind she would ever be able to find without going out the window of one of the towers.
Vanessa had already done that much too literally, so decided to skip that option all together.
Finally getting the knots undone, she smiled brightly as she backed away from the water’s edge to try to run to get the kite airborn. Unfortunately, all she looked like was an idiot dragging a cat toy behind her. Getting the kite into the air was never her strongest ability. Normally, her father helped and then she hung on to it as if she’d done it. But that was years ago…
Running around the lake, like a crup with its tail just cut of, Vanessa finally had to stop and catch her breath. There was no way that by herself, she was getting that thing up in the air. It wasn’t until a moment later she thought about how foolish she was. She was a witch! She could levitate it up into the air to catch the wind. Groaning, she laid back on the ground sprawled out.
“When will I ever learn…” said the poor excuse for a pureblooded hufflepuff.
