So, this was it. Delilah had been in her own little hole lately. No one new where she was any more, in fact, she wondered if anyone even knew who she was. It'd been a little over a month since her dad had passed away from a heart attack, and she had been falling behind in her studies, and wasn't acting like her usual bubbly self. She hadn't the time for luxuries like friends, and now she didn't have something to rely on, like a family.
Making trips down to the lake happened more often than not, and Delilah couldn't sit still for very long. She was hoping that maybe one of these days, the Giant Squid would break through the ice and get her and she wouldn't have to sit with herself and her thoughts any longer. The girl had worn her ragged black sweats and her dad's old grey hoodie, which still smelt like him. Or so she thought. She wasn't sure if it was still him, or the fact that she hadn't washed it since he... passed on...
Delilah sighed as she made her way to the lake, not making eye contact with anyone because she didn't want anyone to ask if she was ok. She hadn't been ok in a very long time... Being ok would be an enormous step up from the state she was in. Delilah finally reached her favorite spot. A rock that overlooked the lake, but wasn't too high that one wouldn't be able to climb a top it. Once she reached the top, she stretched a little, breathed in deeply, and sat down with a thump, letting silent tears stream down her face as she gazed across the open Lake. It was beautiful, and usually took her mind off of her harsh reality.
Open.
