Fourth and Fifth Years Potions Lesson 2

Late morning after the rain had subsided just a bit, the dungeons were mighty cold still. The room was warm enough to wear only two sweaters to her three she'd had on only an hour or so ago. With the temperatures slowly dropping outdoors, the woman hoped she'd get used to it quicker than normal so she wouldn't have to brew up a pretty nasty potion for aching joints that came with the cold for her.

Three tables, each sitting four per table, were set out and up front. The professor was in the backroom pulling down some extra ingredients for her students, praying she wouldn't be short as she couldn't find the store she'd bought that summer. Perhaps she should enlighten her mind for such things and actually remember where she placed everything.

On the board was written:

[Tianne Webster-Barrett]

Tianne was really happy to be going to potions. Being ojne of her better subjects, she was happy that there was something that she would enjoy in her day, with the rest of her subjects being just alright ones. The professor for potions was quite nice, and, although she was the hufflepuff head of house, she didn't seem to make favourites, as other professors did, and Tianne respected that. The young girl made her way to potions rather quickly, hoping that she was one of th first there.

Tianne walked into the the almost empty classroom grinning. "Hey Prof-" The girl started to say, before realising that Professor Tapia wasn't actually there. Perhaps she was getting supplies, but it didn't really matter. She'd get there soon enough, as there was stuff already written on the board. Tianne took a seat, and got out her supplies. When was Matty going to get there? Soon, or else Tianne would be by herself for ages.

[Beau Hopkins]

It was growing more and more chilly as of late, and Beau had taken to wearing a sweater along with his normal attire consisting of his uniform and robes. And seeing as how his next lesson was in the dungeons, Beau took special care to put on his sweater and a scarf round his neck. If the professor objected he would merely take the scarf off, but he hoped it wouldn't come to that. The cold just didn't agree with Beau.

Beau walked into the classroom feeling warmer due to his extra layers. He noticed that only one other student was there and took a seat at one of the tables, noticing there was room for three more people at the table he was sitting at. His sister and... one other person if necessary. He propped his head up on his hand, his elbow sitting on the table.

[Autumn McLoughlin]

Autumn made sure she got up early as to give herself time to get lost before finally finding her potions classroom. Luckily today she found her class easy. Before stepping into the classroom she tried to fix her hair and uniform, hoping she didn't look like a hot mess. After a few calming breaths and a look through her bag as to check if she had everything she stepped into the classroom, peering around at the rest of the students.

As she took a few steps into the classroom she noticed Beau, the boy she met whilst playing in the mud. She didn't really know anyone in her year, or even in her house so she decided it would be nice to sit with someone she knew. She walked over to the empty chair on his right and sat down. Turning to him she smiled saying, "Well hello there."

[Layla Jimenez]

Each time time Layla descended into the dungeons, she heard the little siren of panic go off in her head. It didn't matter if she was going to her own N.E.W.T.S. lesson or back for a second time in one day to fulfil her duties as T.A. It had been a few weeks since Professor Tapia had offered her the spot and Layla sometimes thought she was making the progress the older woman was looking for, but she still felt her nerves get to her when she approached the Potions classroom. Layla was pleasantly surprised to learn that the dreadful feeling would go away after they had started on the lesson, but until then she let the Professor lead her into her role.

Shifting the strap of her bag on her shoulder, she stepped into the room smiling timidly at the students that were already there. "Hey guys," she offered. She still wasn't sure what they thought of her being there during their lessons, but just tried to focus on why she was there. She saw that the Potions Mistress was not in the room, but noticed that the door to the back room was open. Smiling as she passed the younger students, she dropped her bag next to the Professor's desk and walked to the back room. She announced herself with a small knock on the frame of the door, seeing if the older woman needed any help.

[Matilda Wentworth]

Matty hated being sick. She hated it even more in the colder months. It sucked. The teenager had become ill over the weekend, and now she was paying for it. Sure, it was just a common cold, but because she had to go to several classes a day, some inside, some not, that was the worst part. Even if she did rest up in the evening, Matty still had to go through her classes the next day, which didn't do her any good. The Hufflepuff was dressed in her warm layers, plus an extra sweater, scarf and even a beanie. She sniffed and rubbed her eyes as she walked through the Dungeons, and entered the Potions classroom. The Huffle offered a smile to an older student in the room, heck, she had no idea who she was, or why she was there, but that didn't matter.

Matty flashed a meek smile to Beau and another Ravenclaw, who's name she was pretty sure was Autumn, before taking her seat next to Tianne. "Hey," she said with a slightly larger smile. The girl sniffled again, before removing her house beanie and shoving it in her bag. The girl then fished out the rest of her gear. "I hate being sick." she mumbled, before letting out a small exhausted laugh. The teenager then crossed her arms on the desk, and rested her head on them, however so her face was looking at her best mate. At least she wasn't all alone in this class.

[Abigail Scott]

Another day, another class. It all just seemed the same now. Abby had enjoyed her free time but now the work in classes seemed to be piling up. The Gryffindor girl didn't really mind school work, she actually enjoyed school. It was just that the work kept piling up and piling up. Every time she finished one assignment, there were two more looming over her head and it was starting to get irritating. The lack of sleep it cause had also really added to her sunny disposition. Not. It made her cranky and aggravated, which didn't really benefit anyone. And running on four hours of sleep, Abby trudged herself to the dungeons for Potions class, only to find that she was still ridiculously early. She could have been using this time to sleep.

Instead, Abby walked into the classroom and passed everyone in there. They were all seated at the same table and there wasn't really room for another. Abby took a seat at a table near the back, dropping her bag and hauling the sleeve of her robes back up onto her shoulder. She hated being little because nothing ever really fit. Once she'd adjusted herself, the girl plopped down into the seat and took out her notebook and pen, writing "Aging Potion" at the top of her page.

Ellie gave off the appearance of distracted happiness as she descended the two flights of stairs in preparation for her potions lesson. She had been studying in the library and was a little bit later than she anticipated leaving. She was pleased with her work done, though, but quickly made her way into the potions room for fear of being late.

Her eyes quickly scanned the room and she noticed the words written on the chalk board. The aging potion, it sounded rather interesting to Ellie. She had heard of it before and knew that, as the name hinted, when someone drank it, it caused them to age much faster than would normally happen. Ellie caught sight of her brother sitting with another girl. Her already present smile increased slightly as she slipped into her seat on the other side of her brother. She flashed a grin to the girl, wondering who she was. Ellie dropped her bag lightly on the ground and smoothed out her skirt as she waited for the lesson to begin.

[Autumn McLoughlin]

Right after Autumn sat down with Beau another girl sat down. For a second she was a little miffed that someone would sit down with them but once she thought about it and really looked at the girl she noticed the similarities between Beau and the girl and summed up that she was his twin sister Ellie. She gave the girl a grin back, hoping she didn't look sour a few seconds ago.

"Hey, I'm Autumn." She said, sticking her hand out to the girl she assumed to be Ellie. She was really pretty. Prettier then most she thought. She also looked really nice, like her twin. yet another think that made Autumn happy. If she was anything like Beau she was in luck. Someone nice in her dorm room, someone to talk about all the happenings that well...happened.

Tianne smiled at the boy as he entered in the room and sat down. "I don't think we've met..." Tianne said, more to herself than to the boy, but in the tone of her voice, that was no evident. "I'm Tianne." She said to him, no matter how far away he was. She was always up for meeting new people. As other people, one she knew as Autumn, the other as Ellie entered, she gave each a nice smile and that was that.

Smiling over at her sick friend, Tianne giggled. "It's a great day, to just smell and breathe through your nose, isn't it?" The young girl joked, still smiling and giggling. She enjoyed teasing Matty, as she knew that the hufflepuff wouldn't take anythin offensively. "I'm so pumped to make a potion! I just so want to do this!" Tianne laughed. She was still happy and hyper from her 'little treat' that she had been sent from her parents.

[Tallulah Skeffington]

Potions class. Her best when she was at Beauxbaton. With a smug smirk she got out of bed and got ready. Even though she had to wear her uniform it didn't mean she couldn't look prim doing it. Her entire outfit was pressed and looked perfect. The last touch was a green bow she placed in her brown hair. The only makeup she put on was her trademark bright red lipstick. With a final glance she walked out of her room, ready for class.

Finding her way there was easy. She went up the stairs and a few lefts and rights later she was there. She checked herself in her pocket mirror before entering. Everything in place she walked in, scanning the room. Her smirk turned into a pout. No one she'd care to see. With a sigh she walked in, the low heels on her shoes clicking on the floor. She picked a seat near everyone, but not too near as to show she wanted to know any of them. After she sat down she took out her pocket mirror again. She checked her reflection yet again. For a girl of only fifteen she was quite vain.

Hearing the soft knocking, Desideria turned to see who was at her door, a little surprised that it was Miss. Jimenez. "Oh, deary me, is it late?" she asked, hoping she hadn't not heard the bell toll. It would be her luck the class needed nearly the whole class period in order to create this potion and she would be required to hold them back for a few moments to finish up. Lovely, just lovely. However, it was only a moment later she heard the toll of the bell, letting all know classes were to start at that exact moment. "Oh my. Layla, dear, would you mind looking in this area for one of the ingredients I need?" she asked the young woman, not having thought herself about just using Accio to call the ingredient to her. It was in the room, she was sure of it.

Telling Layla what she needed, Desideria left the storage and entered the class with a smile.

"'Ello class," she started off, greeting all. "Today we'll be learning about the aging potion, can anyone tell me about it?" Points were always a given in this class, even just for effort. It was her own personal opinion that if a student was willing to speak up then they should be awarded accordingly.

Class has begun. You may post as already being present or as being tardy, but consequences await the late

[Layla Jimenez]

Layla was left in the small back room,unable to reply by the Professor and one of her knowing, mischevious smiles. This particular smile, she had seen on her Professor several times. Sometimes she knew it was because she was being tested and it made her nervous, and sometimes she just couldn't quite figure it out. Perhaps it didn't mean much other than the impulse to smile. She never really knew, so Layla tried her best to take is as encouragement and faced the stacked shelves of bottles, jars and other containers with various potions.

Layla took the shelf farthest to her left and quickly lead her green eyes through a scan of the rows on ingredients, brushing her hand on each container. She listened to the Professor start the class outside and tried to remember what chapter in one of her older books was on that day's lesson.

[Tianne Webster-Barrett]

Tianne smiled at her professor as she entered. She was still semi-hyper from the chocolates, but it was good to be alert for such a good subject. It was one of her best, and she wanted to make sure that she paid attention, and gave the teacher the respect that she deserved. Potions wasn't easy, in fact, it was quite difficult. Everything had to be precise, they couldn't stuff up, and they couldn't muck around either. Tianne actually liked being in that sort of environment, even if it meant she couldn't talk with her friends, and muck around. It was good enough that the subject was so fun.

Raising her hand, Tianne began to speak, without being pointed to or acknowledged. "Well, the aging potion makes a person age, well, obviously. The more one drinks, the more they age." Tianne said, remembering it from when she read it in her encyclopedia.
