"If you're sure...Episkey, yeah?" she asked, bracing herself to perform the spell.
"OK, OK...Here goes nothing." Keagan lifted her wand and, though keeping her eyes on him to make sure the spell hit its mark, she turned her head so that she could hide if she screwed up.
"Episkey!" The Gryffindor closed her eyes and winced after the spell had been cast. "It work?"

Finn's nose immediately felt better as soon as Keagan said the word. He opened one eye to see that she was looking away and closing her eyes. He couldn't help but chuckle at the fact that she was more nervous about it than he was. Tapping her lightly on the shoulder, Finn scrunched his face up and wiggled his nose to show it was in perfect working order.
"Good job," he told her, clapping for the Gryffindor again, "Have you ever thought about being a Healer?" Keagan seemed like she had the personality and smarts to pull off a Healer quite nicely. It was something she should definitely consider, in Finn's opinion.

Keagan opened her eyes again when Finn tapped her on the shoulder and she didn't hear any more painful noises coming from him. Seeing him make the face and appearing to be in perfect condition once again, her features lit up and, without thinking, she yelled "Yay!" and threw her arms around him. She pulled away quickly, though.
"A Healer? You think?" she asked, pondering the occupation before frowning. "Nah, I blew too many OWLs to be a Healer."

Finn was in the process of hugging Keagan back when she pulled away quickly. He knew he'd blown his chances now that he'd completely frozen twice when Keagan tried to be nice. Why she was still there was beyond him, because he figured she thought he was a jerk for being like that. However, he just couldn't help that he froze when it happened. He wished he knew himself.
Pushing it aside, Finn flashed Keagan a smile, still testing out his nose. "Yeah, I think you'd be great," he told her truthfully, "You fixed me up quite nicely. I still have no idea what I'm gonna do with my life." Finn drifted off in thought for a moment before speaking again. "Any ideas?" he asked with a chuckle.

Keagan, oblivious as always, beamed right back at Finn.
"I don't have much of an idea, either. Way I see it, I'm not really qualified for much." There weren't many days that went by without Keagan regretting her OWL scores.
"Ideas? For you?" she asked, already beginning to ponder the question though she waited to make sure that was what he was asking.

"Yeah, what do you think I could do?" he asked, shifting his seat on the stairs to get more comfortable, "And don't say 'clown' because that's the answer I get all the time." He frowned, thinking about how many times he'd actually been told to go to a Muggle clown college. At first it had been funny, but now it was just mean.
"I'd like to be a professor, but I pretty much bombed my OWLs. I'm thinkin' clown might be the only way to go," Finn said thoughtfully, regretting how much he'd procrastinated.

"I'm pretty sure you did a lot better than I did. They've only given me two classes that I can still take," Keagan retorted, turning and leaning against the stair she sat upon, facing down the staircase and forgetting about the hour for the moment.
"I was going to say professor!" she exclaimed with a laugh. "I think teaching would be a good thing for you, and as long as you want to teach something you've done well in, it should all work out, shouldn't it?"

Finn blushed again, scratching the back of his head nervously. "Yeah well, I really want to teach Defense Against the Dark Arts, but I didn't really do so hot on that OWL..." he said, his voice drifting off slightly. Taking a tip from Keagan, Finn leaned back against the step too, resting on his elbows and looking up at the ceiling. He sighed, seeing all the staircases they were going to have to climb, but right now, he was content with just sitting there.
Leaning his head on his shoulder, Finn looked at Keagan again, just looking at her without saying anything. He opened his mouth to speak, but the words got lost and he closed it again. What was he going to say? He feared that if he opened his mouth right now, something might spill out that he didn't want Keagan to know. And there were plenty of things like that.

"Me neither," Keagan said quietly as she looked all around her, watching the movement of the enchanted staircases and marvelling for the millionth time at the way in which Hogwarts castle seemed to be a living entity itself. Sensing Finn's eyes upon her, Keagan glanced over to him and smiled shyly before looking away again, watching her feet sway side to side.

Finn looked away quickly as Keagan caught him looking at her and he cursed himself silently. Taking a deep breath, Finn turned back to Keagan. He was just going to do it and whatever happened, happened. He at least had to try.
"Say Keagan," he said quietly, looking down at his shoes again, "If you're not, you know, busy or whatever, I was wondering you umm...maybe wanted to like, do...something. Maybe? With me? Like, tomorrow, or, the next day or, whenever you're not busy?" OK, so not as articulate as he would have liked, but at least Finn got it out. Partially. He bit his lip as he waited for an answer.

Keagan looked at Finn for a few moments, thinking about his question - or rather, string of questions. She wasn't quite sure the depth to which the question went. Was he referring to something...like a date?
"Well, what did you have in mind?" she asked slowly, testing the waters.

Finn sort of chuckled nervously as his question was only answered with another question. He hadn't actually thought that far ahead, so he didn't have anything planned. He would have started planning the moment she said yes, but now Finn's mind was blank.
"I, uhh...I-I don't know," he stuttered, trying to find the words and trying to figure out why he was so damn awkward, "We could just like, hang out? Picnic...at the Lake?"

"A picnic," Keagan asked, her voice becoming slightly higher pitched. "You mean...like a date?"
Keagan wasn't sure that a date so soon so soon after her breakup was such a good idea, but she couldn't help the way she wanted to say yes. Such a dilemma.

Finn felt his cheeks flush such a mad red and he couldn't look up, only keeping his eyes straight on the floor. His palms were getting all sweaty, just at the mentioning of a simple word: date. He guessed that it would kind of be a date, and he really wanted one, but he hoped it would just pass as hanging out. Evidently, that wasn't happening. Super.
"I-I-I, uhh...well, no?" Finn said, his voice raising at the end like a question, "Well, not if you don't want it to be. I mean, we can like, hang out, right? Friends, hang out? Because you don't have to if you don't want to, I just thought uh...maybe you'd..erm..want...to." Finn stopped himself before it got out of hand.

Though Finn refused to look at her, Keagan's gaze was focused on him, despite her own blush.
Her voice was quiet as she spoke. "It's not necessarily that I don't want to." she started. "It's just...I don't know if it's a real good idea for it to be anything more than hanging out. Right now. I just broke up with someone."
At least Finn wasn't the only nervous one now.
