Well, if anything could get one's mind off of things for a bit, cake had to be it. At least, it was the best idea from those Arianna had suggested. Drew didn't seem particularly excited about beating someone up and neither was willing to risk another expulsion by jumping off the tower, with or without bungee cords. So, cake was the top choice today.
"Do we want just a regular old chocolate cake?" Arianna asked as she stepped past the portrait and into the kitchens. "Or do we want to do some experimenting today?"

"Experimenting is always good," Drew answered as he followed Arianna into the kitchens. Right on cue, the house elves scampered up to them, bombarding them with questions. Drwe pushed through them with minimal conversation. Sometimes the creatures were such nuisances.

"I wonder how you could make an exploding chocolate cake," Arianna mused as she moved to the tables. She always wondered if the elves secretly hated that students were always coming and going from the kitchens, making their own food instead of giving the elves something to do. The elves probably did less with students in the kitchens than they did on any normal day during break. "Like with pop rocks, only slightly bigger pops."

"We could throw some fizzing wizzbees in there," Drew suggested, thinking that was a possibility. "I've got some of those exploding bonbons they sell at Honeydukes too."

"Ooo," Arianna thought over the possibilities as she gently nudged some elves out of the way so she could dig out some pans and bowls. Sure, they were more than happy to do it for her, but Arianna didn't want to ask unless she really needed their help.
"But how would the heat in the oven affect them?" she wondered. It was worth a try. Even if they ended up only ruining an oven or two.

"We'll find out, won't we?" Drew answered, pulling out the butter and eggs. A few of the house elves scampered off and returned shortly with the flour, sugar, and baking powder and Drew accepted these without comment. Heck, it gave the little guys something to do, right?

"Of course," Arianna wandered over to the table and dumped her goods out. A pan, a few bowls, measuring spoons and cups, and a few mixing spoons all clattered onto the wooden surface. It had been a while since the girl had done any baking, but she was sure she'd gotten everything they needed.

Drew started sifting the flour and soda together as he looked over at the other things they had laid out. "We're doing this chocolate, right?" he asked her, hoping the house elves would take the cue and go get it for them.

"As far as I know," Arianna replied as she worked getting the eggs, oil, and another other wet ingredient mixed together. She was wondering if Drew might have already forgotten they'd decided on chocolate way before coming down to the kitchens. She motioned to the elves and they ran off to get the cocoa. Good thing, too, because Arianna didn't know where that particular ingredient was. "Unless you've changed your mind, of course."

"I like chocolate," Drew assured her as he took the chocolate from the helpful house elf and threw it into a makeshift double boiler to melt along with some milk and sugar. The bigger question was when would be the best time to add the exploding parts.

Arianna grinned as she mixed up all her wet stuff. She then scooched it over next to the other stuff, ready to be dumped in whenever Drew was ready.
"I really think you guys got me addicted to this stuff," she commented, motioning to the chocolate. "When I first started out here, I wouldn't eat anything but fruit. Maybe a piece of candy or chocolate on special occasions, but not as much as I do now. I think I get cake nearly every other week and some sort of candy three times as often."

"You were weird then," Drew teased, flashing her a crooked grin that had become much more rare as of late. It was kind of amazing to think of how long they had been together, where they had started, and what they had been through. A lot had changed in five years.

"Was not!" Arianna's jaw dropped in a mock attempt at anger. She reached over, though, and poked him in the side. Ticklish spot, of course. "You were pretty weird, too, you know. All tall and skinny with long arms. Oh, wait, you're still like that." she teased, sticking her tongue out at Drew.

"Hey! Cut it out!" Drew answered her with a laugh and he jumped back to avoid her fingers, knocking over the bowl he had been mixing. "No fair! You can't do that when I'm cooking, you know that, right?" In retaliation, he tossed some of the spilled flour at her before moving to guard the chocolate.

Arianna lept back to avoid the flour, but still received a handful on her shirt. She couldn't help but grab some and throw it back at Drew.
"I can do whatever I want," she claimed, flicking the white powder toward the boy. "Just don't knock the boiler over and we'll be okay....Though a chocolate covered Drew does sound good..."
