Breakfast and a letters from home (Open)

[Jason Williams]

Jason walked into the great hall, it was already filled with students having breakfast and laughing with one another. He smiled and sat down at the Ravenclaw table and helped himself to some bacon and eggs. just then and owl dropped to letters in front of him and landed on the table as well. Jason picked up the two letters and looked at them for a moment. The owl hooted loudly and Jason looked over at it "What?" he said with a grin "you wanna piece of bacon?" he said tossing the owl a slice of his bacon. the owl grabbed it and flew off. He laughed and turned back to the letters. One from mom and one from Kaylee.

Just wanted to drop you a line and see how you are handling you last year at Hogwarts. Dad and I will be in Seattle for Christmas so your on your own if you come home for the holidays, I hope you don't mind but I haven't seen Grandpa in a while and I would like to very much. Anyway Kaylee has some good news but I will let her tell you since the other letter you got is from her. Hope to here from you soon. love you.

Jason raised one eyebrow. "O boy" he said opening the other letter.

JASON!!!
O MY GOD YOUR NOT GONNA BELIEVE THIS!!!! I GOT ACCEPTED TO OXFORD IN LONDON ON A FULL ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP. Aunt Inara and Uncle Malcolm said I could live with you guys in London while I go to school. Isn't that great!! Write me back soon i cant wait to hear from you.

[Matilda Wentworth]

Matty grumbled to herself as she entered the hall. It was bustling with people, something she hadn't been hoping for on this morning in particular. Of course, every morning it was like this, but considering the teenager had slept in late, and she was hoping that by some twist of fate, the hall would be less crowed this particular morning. Matty had rushed to dress in her uniform at least, which consisted of the usual black slip ons, her gray pleated skirt, white button up shirt, tie, and a light gray cardigan with the buttons down the front undone. Her wavy black hair was left as it was since she had risen from her bed, one of her fellow sixth year girls coaxing Matty out of the sleep she had been in.

Slouching as she reached a chair at the busy Hufflepuff table, the teen stifled a yawn, before picking out her Quidditch Captain badge from her pocket, pinning it onto her school shirt, thought it ended up twisted to a weird angle, and upside-down at that. Matty looked at the remains of food in front of her. She couldn't find a paper anywhere, nor could she locate the plate of bagels that was generally full in the earlier morning. All she could see was a half eaten one, and another two that looked to have mustard or something on it. Time for some scavenging.

The girl turned and headed to the Ravenclaw table, before spotting a boy sitting reading a letter. He seemed to be the only one not deeply involved in some sort of conversation - not yet, anyway. She approached him, slipping into the seat opposite the boy, faintly recognizing him, but not by name. "Hey, um," pausing for a moment, the girl smiled sleepily. "Do you mind if I borrow a paper and a bagel from your table? My house seemed to consume all of ours." a sheepish grin made it onto her expression, as the teenager looked up hopefully to the Ravenclaw boy.

Jason looked over both letters again and smiled. Kaylee coming to live with them meant that Jason would never have a dull moment at home anymore. He was very proud of Kaylee, even know she was his cousin he always looked at her more as a sister then a cousin. As for his parents ditching him for the holidays, it was nothing new. just meant he would go home and spent it alone or stay at the school and just hang with the others that were going to stay as well.

"Hey, um," pausing for a moment, the girl smiled sleepily. "Do you mind if I borrow a paper and a bagel from your table? My house seemed to consume all of ours."

Jason snapped back to reality and looked up at the Hufflepuff student, "Hmm... O yeah sure help yourself" He said passing the paper next to him to her. He paused for a moment he recognized her, but he couldn't remember where. Then it hit him, "Hey your Tiannes friend Matty right?" He asked handing her the plate of bagels.

The teenager waited patiently, until finally the Raven looked up at her, before replying to her request. The muscles in her body relaxed when he did answer her, before handing Matty the paper, of which she accepted with thanks. "Cheers." she said honestly, before flipping it out so it wasn't doubled up any more. The front page had a large story about some sort of Dragon escape in China, as well as some Quidditch statistics down further to wards the bottom. "Your Tiannes friend Matty, right?" the Hufflepuff looked up, just in time to accept the plate of bagels, all the while she nodded to his question. "Thanks. And yeah, we're friends. Some say we're joined at the hip, apparently." Matty paused to smile at him. "I'm assuming you two know each other? No doubt, from your house of course. Are you guys friends?" the teen felt a little guilty not being able to return knowing the boy's name, but perhaps if he classified where he stood with Tee, Matty's own known best friend, it might occur to her. But for the time being, the sixth year took a ham and melted cheese bagel from the plate, and took a reasonable bite out of it, glancing from the boy, to the letter in his hand, and back to his familiar face again as she chewed the food.

Jason put the letters back in the envelopes they came in and went back to his own breakfast. He looked at them for a moment and shook his head with a smile. Kaylee always got over exited about things. He hated the fact that his mom called him by his full name Jason Athrun Drove him nuts but what could he do She even put it on the envelope in big bold letters.

Thanks. And yeah, we're friends. Some say we're joined at the hip, apparently." Matty paused to smile at him. "I'm assuming you two know each other? No doubt, from your house of course. Are you guys friends?"

Jason laughed "I thought so" He said with a smile sitting up
"Yeah I know her, and yeah her and I are good friends" he said. "My name is Jason by the way"

Matty gave a nod, and another smile at the boy's mention of him and Tianne being friends. It was a little weird, considering generally those who were mates with Tee, were along friends with Matty. But she didn't mind, because after all, the Ravenclaw girl didn't know all of the Hufflepuff's friends, though she wouldn't have doubted that they both knew each other's mates pretty well - even if they didn't know them on a personal level like the other did. "Thats awesome. Nice to meet you, Jason. How did you guys meet?" she asked him curiously, taking another bite of her bagel, and letting the paper drop to the table, as she wasn't paying much attention to it. He seemed like a nice guy, someone Matty expected Tee to be friends with, at the least.

Jason paused for a moment, thats a good question, he thought to himself. He had known Tianne since his second year but he couldn't remember how. Jason felt really stupid now. He took a bite of bacon and then turned back to Matilda, "I just we just met because we were in the same house, to be completely honest i don't remember" Jason said grabbing a plain bagel for himself. He tore a piece off and popped it in his mouth. He took a bite of eggs and looked over at his letters. He picked up the one form Kaylee, "well next years gonna be a whole lotta fun." he said to himself quietly,
