New Years Day, January first, 9:00 pm
Recovering from an illness such as Dragon Pox took time. It took time, effort and energy, none of which Ellie really had to spare.
She was too busy to really focus on getting better like Beau was, she was too tired to think about much of anything else besides the studying she needed to do. So it wasn't much of a surprise, then, that Ellie was wearing herself down. Not only did she feel tired, she looked it. To anyone looking closely enough it was obvious to see that the girl needed a break. Sure, O.W.L.'s were important to her academic wizarding career, but certainly her health was worth a little bit more. It would take some convincing, though, as Ellie was determined to go ahead with her studying and homework schedule she had devised some time ago in the company of Celina, one of the older Ravenclaws. Shuffling slowly down the many flights of stairs, Ellie held this schedule in her hand as she entered the Kitchens by way of scratching the pear just right until it giggled.
Ellie wasn't dressed much for company, she still had one her flannel pink and blue pajamas pants, her blue slippers, and a plain old blue shirt. Over her shirt she had on a black hoodie. Her hair was pulled up into a slightly messy bun, but she wasn't focused on her appearance as much as she was focused on her hunger. It was of the gnawing variety, and the worst kind in Ell's opinion.
As she made to sit at one of the side tables in a little room just off the kitchens she folded her studying schedule and put it into the pocket of her hoodie, thinking that she'd look it over later. For now, though, she just wanted some food. In an effort to finally get some rest the girl had decided to take a nap before dinner and unfortunately hadn't woken up until just fifteen minutes ago. She had slept through dinner, leaving her very hungry as well as very groggy. She attempted a smile as a small house elf walked over, wiping its hands on a little towel it held. " Miss! What can I help you with? " Ellie turned her head slightly, thinking of what sounded good enough for her to eat but wouldn't make her want to throw up. " Toast, please. " An odd request, toast, but Ell knew it wouldn't disrupt her stomach too much and would satisfy her hunger.
As she sunk into one of the more comfy chairs, Ellie could hear the sound of footsteps coming from the entrance of the kitchens. They were heavy, not the light pitter pattering of elves feet, but the slightly louder sounds of a person walking into the kitchens.

It was times like these that Josh wished he'd thought ahead and packed some munchies in his trunk before leaving home. It was fairly late and already way past dinner, but the boy was still hungry. His excuse was that he was a growing boy who needed to eat, but other days he just felt like a pig. Not that it ever showed really because Josh was just one of those kids that never seemed to gain any weight. He was a tall, scraggly thing and it bothered him sometimes. Josh knew there really wasn't anything he could do about it, but that didn't stop him from complaining to himself.
Clad in a grey hooded sweatshirt, black t-shirt and green and blue checkered flannel pajama bottoms, Josh wasn't too concerned with how he looked. His copper hair was sporting the wind-blown look as always as he trotted with his hands in his pockets down the stairs. The walk from the Hufflepuff common room had been a quiet and lonely one, just how Josh liked it. But now he was nearing the dungeons, where quiet wasn't exactly the best thing to have. Looking around him carefully, Josh made his way toward the kitchens. As he neared the entrance. Josh looked around for the portrait. He tickled the pear and watched it giggle and squirm while the door swung open, revealing someone else already in there.
"Oh," Josh greeted the girl who was seat in one of the chairs, "Hello." He flashed her a friendly smile as an elf came scurrying over to him. He told the elf what he wanted (just some chips) and it hurried off to fetch it. "I'm Josh," he introduced himself.

Ell drew her legs up into the comfy armchair, forming herself into more of a ball than the figure of a girl. She lifted her hood up to cover her head in an effort to hide from the person, whoever they were. She sniffled slightly, and feeling a little bit too pathetic to talk, only nodded her greeting to the person. The top of the hood came down over Ellie's forehead, impairing her vision a bit so she could just barely make out the boy's figure. As a small little house elf walked over and delivered Ellie's toast, it also made its way to the boy, handing him a plateful of chips.
It looked like her new companion was here to stay regardless of whether or not Ellie would invite him to, so Ellie straightened up slightly on the chair and said, " Hi. Care to sit down? " As she finally lowered her hood she recognized the sixth year, had run into him once before. " Hi... " She repeated again, registering that she should probably say who she was, perhaps as a reminder if nothing else. " I'm Ellie. I think we've met before? " She said, allowing a small smile to cross her features.
Ellie looked down to the plate of toast perching precariously on the arm of the chair, poking at it lightly with a finger. Somehow, the elf must have read her mind and put cinnamon on it without her having to ask. She smiled once again, wondering how elves were so thoughtful. " Hungry? " She asked, glancing back to Josh.

[[ Mind if I join? ]] It was starting to get irritating... how Zee would get sudden cravings for sweets at night. Usually, she would just ignore it and it would eventually go away, but not this time. her hunger for sweets was starting to drive her mad and she finally decided to do something about it. She quickly made her way out of the Hufflepuff Common Room, not bothering to change out of her blue and purple striped pajama pants and big black t-shirt. Once she was finally out, she regretted slipping on her shoes before she left. The ground was cold against her small bare feet, but decided against going back for some shoes. She hurried down the corridors and towards the kitchens in the dungeon. Zee had been down here once or twice, and actually enjoyed watching the house elves scurry around. They were such interesting creatures. Once Zee reached the tapestry, she scratched the pear and smiled as she watched it fidget and snicker. Soon, the door swung open and the Hufflepuff strolled in, nothing two other students already down there. She was a bit surprised at first. She hadn't really expected anyone else to be down here, but greeted them with a warm smile as a house elf scampered over to her. "Uhm... anything chocolate." She muttered to him. Immediately, the elf nodded and hurried off to grab something for her. Zee glanced back over at the two other students and slowly made her way over to them. "I guess I wasn't the only one who had a sudden late-night craving." She said, smiling, hoping she wasn't barging in on anything.

"Yeah, I think so," Josh answered truthfully with a smile. She seemed familiar and they had probably seen each other in class before. He took the seat she offered to him, plunking down in the chair opposite her. It was nice and cozy in this corner of the kitchen and Josh had been cold a moment ago in the hall but it was certainly fixing that.
When the elf returned with his chips, Josh turned to say thank you. As he did, he noticed another was joining them in the kitchens. He recognized this girl too, but from his own house as well as classes. He wasn't quite sure what her name was, but he had seen her around before. "I think we've all got the munchies tonight," Josh told her with a smile. It was odd for him to be so friendly and cheerful, but he liked it. Somehow, this place just made him feel more comfortable, but that might have something to do with the previous memory of being here. A smile graced his lips at that thought.

[ ] Ellie picked up one of her pieces of toast and folded it in half, watching as sprinkles of cinnamon and sugar fell down to the plate that now sat on her lap. She lifted the toast and took a bite, nodding her head slightly as she did so. She was almost certain she had seen him around, plus he was in the same house as her brother, so it really only made sense that she would know at least who he was. She snuggled down into the comfy chair, sighing slightly as she did so. Her head was aching something fierce and she still felt terrible, but it was nice to just sit for a little while. Ell's head turned back to the entrance of the kitchens as she heard the door open once again, bringing another person to join them. Ellie was pretty sure that she should know who this girl was. She was familiar, and the Ravenclaw girl was almost positive that she was in Hufflepuff, possibly a fifth year as well. " Hi. " She mentioned in a somewhat shy manner, dropping her toast back down lightly on her plate once again as she absently wiped several crumbs off of her lips. " Care to pull up a chair? " Ellie asked, a slightly more confident and friendly smile crossing her features. She motioned over to another chair slightly off to the side so the girl could join them.

As she got nearer, Zee began to recognize the two. One, the boy, was from her own house. The girl, she remembered, was in a few of her classes. She'd seen both of them around before, but had never bothered to say hello to either. Now would be a better time than ever.
" Care to pull up a chair? " The girl asked her.
Zee took notice of the chair and nodded, pulling the chair over and taking a seat. As she settled herself, a house elf hurried to her side with a chocolate muffin on a small plate. The hufflepuff smiled and thanked the elf before it scurried off. She pulled off a little piece and popped it into her mouth, satisfied by the taste. "I'm Zee, by the way." she said with a grin.
