It had been ages since Tianne had made her way down to the kitchens. It surprised the girl, considering it used to be a weekly habit of hers to do so, but with the added pressure of homework assignments and much needed relaxation and rest, she just hadn't found the time. Tianne had been tired most of the time, but when she wasn't she was busy. Dang classes, dang sleeping, dang everything! It was starting to take its effect on the girl, the skipping of meals and the forgetting of snacks, Tianne's iron levels were way, way down. She wasn't getting skinnier, no, but her energy levels were depleting, and with her OWLs coming up, she couldn't afford to lose any more studying time.
To be truthful and honest, Tianne had been stressing herself out much more than was needed. In fact, in her own opinion, making this 'desperately needed' trip for food was a waste of precious study time. At the moment, Tianne was the exact definition of NERD, in fact, when looking up, a picture of Tianne would appear next to it. Though she believed that she was doing this for her own academic performance, it was stupid. Full stop.
It seemed like a long time since Tianne had even ventured out of her dorm and common room, willingly at least. Classes, well, that was out of her hands, and meals were necessary, but willingly leaving her post to get extra food, it gave Tianne goosebumps when she finally did it. The corridors were so big, so cold, yet so warming. It actually joyed her to be out here, what are the odds? Basically running down the staircases, a skip evident in her step, Tianne had a big grin on her face. Ten minutes ago, she never would have thought that this would bring her happiness, but she didn't care. She was all for contradictions.
Although her outfit would be frowned upon by some of the people she had made acquaintances with, Tianne didn't give a rats. A pair of green track pants, one leg rolled up to the knee teamed with a pair of dark green converses, Tianne was comfortable. A grey teeshirt that bore the Good-Shirt symbol consisting of a rainbow and a cloud, Tianne's shirt was finally reflecting her feelings.
Reaching the dungeons, still bearing the unconditional smile upon her face, Tianne stopped dead in her tracks. Why was she lost, in the place that the snakes called home? Where was that ruddy kitchen?!?

She found herself in the common room, and bored. She was always bored. Though Delilah did her best in each class, they didn't seem to challenge her, and she was always looking for extra things to fill her time up with. It was sad really. Everyone one else was freaking out over O.W.L.'s, or N.E.W.T.'s, or something but oh no, not Delilah, the care free Slytherin that did what she could just to get by in classes, in life really. It could get quite lonely for her. Not that she never made friends, just that she was always constantly stabbed in the back by them. So much for friends. She sighed, staring into the fire that kept the common room warm. She could only imagine how cold it would get down here if it wasn't for this magnificent fire.
Delilah sighed yet again, and looked down at herself. "Nice..." She thought, pulling at her own clothes. She was wearing pj bottoms and a big baggy green hoodie. She was barefoot, and when she tried to run her fingers through her own hair, they got stuck in the brown curly mess. She huffed, wishing she had something to do. Maybe it was time to groom. Nah, what fun was that? Time to explore. "Change first perhaps?" A small voice in the back of her head said, trying to plead with her. Nah.
The only thing she could resort to, was leaving her own common room. She stepped out and heard... was that skipping? She watched from afar as another girl came into view. She looked positively happy. Or insane. Delilah watched with interest as her face suddenly fell and she looked around. She looked lost. Delilah wasn't as harsh and nasty as most other Slytherins, seeing as her dad was from Hufflepuff, she could be quite kind and caring. Trying to prove this, she approached this girl now, and gave her a once over. "Well, aren't we a sight..." She said, trying not to laugh at how stupid they both looked.

Wished that intelligence had come easily and naturally to the girl, Tianne was bummed out. The studying had gotten the better of her, and she was quite sick of it. Tianne was smart, but she was nothing special in her own house, as they were basically renowned for being intelligent. She didn't want to be known as the 'geeky' girl, or the 'nerdy' girl, but Tianne believed that the 'smart' girl had nothing to do with either of the previous names. The Ravenclaw fifth year wasn't special at anything, she wasn't the best quidditch player, she wasn't the best soccer player, and she definitely wasn't the prettiest, so Tianne felt that she needed something.
Wandering aimlessly through the dank surroundings of the dungeons, Tianne had to plead stupidity. Firstly, how could she become lost in a place that she called her home? Secondly, why did she have to get lost in the dungeons, a place that she found almost as intimidating as some of the students that too residence there? And lastly, how did she manage to get herself lost in the middle of the dungeons, without realising that she'd never been this hungry in her ENTIRE - she could not emphasise this enough - life?
Getting quite a shock when the girl that she didn't know approached her, Tianne had no idea that there had even been a person there before she came into plain sight. What was with Tianne and meeting people in odd places? "There's no need to get dressed up, hey." She grinned, noticing that the girl had taken the same casual and comfortable front to getting dressed that day. "Tianne." She said, extending her hand out for the girl to shake, as Tianne had taken quite a liking to the formal greetings that she had been offered many a times before.

Delilah nodded and smiled. Still laughing at herself at how goofy they both looked. If anyone was visiting the castle and saw them dressed as such, they'd think the school was full of kooks. The Slytherin sixth year grinned at her response. "Delilah, at your service,'' she said, mocking herself in her own way, "nice to meet you Tianne." She said the girl's name only to lock it into place of her own memory. She hated forgetting names and honestly, was quite good at doing so. But now that she had a name with the face, it'd be harder to forget.
She looked up and down the Dungeons. For some reason or other, Delilah had a keen sense on where she was and hardly ever got lost. She had gotten herself to a different part of the castle by mistake, but that only got added to the map inside her head, and she had new places to go to. Huzzah. Delilah looked back to Tianne, and judging by the girl's face, she looked a little bit lost. Afterall, she wasn't in Slytherin, why was she down here? Delilah knew had it been any other Slytherin, she'd be getting made fun of right about now, and more often than not, their words were harsh.
"So, you look lost..." She started, seeing as if she was wrong, then she could stand corrected. But if she was right, she could proceed in helping the girl find where she needed to go. Delilah suddenly felt a pain in her stomach. The kind of pain that feels like your stomach is literally eating itself to death, and at some point, you stop feeling the pain because your stomach has now eaten itself. Delilah secretly hoped that maybe the girl was looking for the kitchen... Who knew?

Tianne found it amusing the way that they were dressed, the way that comfort had played a large role, and that the girl too found it to be funny. Goofy was exactly the word to describe them, but Tianne only hoped that she wasn't being laughed at. Did the girl find it funny how they were both dressed, or just how the younger ravenclaw had? It was confusing, but Tianne decided that she'd simply move her insecurities to the side, and settle on the choice that they were both being laughed at. She didn't feel like debating with herself, not when there was someone to at least converse with.
Unlike her companion, Tianne got lost easily. In the grounds was one of the main places, which was the exact reason that Tianne didn't go venturing through the forbidden forest, she just knew that if she went in, she'd need to be rescued. She didn't care what was in there, the rules that forebode it from usage, or the stories that she had heard from older students, the getting lost part topped it all easily. But that wasn't what Tianne was doing today, and she sure had no reason to even think about it.
Smiling at the girl, Tianne nodded. "My intuition is playing up." She joked, forgetting that she didn't actually know the girl, or anything about her. Remembering the past words that had been spoken, Tianne smiled once again. She liked the name Delilah, it always reminded her of butterflies and flowers. "I'm actually heading to the, well... I'm not sure. I used to know where they were ... Oh, I'm sorry. The kitchens, I'm headed to the kitchens." She smiled, flushing a color of red her face had not seen recently.

Delilah was getting the impression that Tianne was a bit flustered. She grinned, "I could probably help you get there." She offered. Delilah was glad to be of service, and seeing as she was lacking in the friends department, she might've secretly been hoping to make a new friends. Or acquaintance at the very least. "I'm a bit hungry myself." Delilah added, hoping the rumbling her stomach was making wasn't too noticeable.
Delilah hadn't been to the Kitchens in such a long time. Last time she went, the elves were in a bit of a pickle. Someone had been climbing a ladder and was about to fall, and no one noticed. No one except Delilah, so of course, she caught the very grateful house elf, and instantly became their friend. She knew that once they got to the Kitchens (that was assuming that they would venture off that way) she'd be welcome with open arms. And probably be harassed for not visiting more often.
The small Slytherin girl looked to Tianne, "Freaking out over N.E.W.T.'s?" She asked quite calmly. She wasn't too worried about them. Actually, she wasn't worried about them at all. She honestly couldn't, she was too afraid that if she got wrapped up in worrying about them, she wouldn't be able to focus on anything but. Delilah smiled warmly now, hoping she was giving off a good vibe. A trust worthy Slytherin was something rare indeed, but Delilah liked to think, that maybe, someone would eventually see the diamond in the rough.

Of all the people that sh could have run into in the dungeons, whether they be happy characters, or just suspicious snakes, Tianne was more than happy that she had met up with Delilah. She was offering to help the girl, as Tianne was hopelessly lost, and she couldn't be more grateful for that. She didn't know whether the girl was doing this because she was actually going to the kitchens, or whether it was because she wanted to help the younger ravenclaw, but Tianne didn't care much for that. She was helping, and that put her straight in the good books, no questions asked.
The last time that Tianne had gone to the kitchens, it had been early morning, before curfew had been broken. She wasn't going to be able to attend to breakfast, as to her study schedule, so she decided that she'd stock up on food from the kitchens. The houseelves had been slightly bitter towards her, as they couldn't understand why she couldn't go to breakfast, but Tianne was no longer worrying over that. The majority of the time they were as sweet as pie, it was just a one off thing.
"NEWTs? No, I have my OWLs coming up. Fifth year is so... stupid, isn't it?" She asked, more rhetorically than not. She wasn't trying to be negative, but when it came to studying, was positive even allowed to be associated with that? "Do you have your NEWTs coming up?" She asked nicely, trying to forget the negativity.

Delilah began walking, hoping Tianne would follow and they'd be in the Kitchen in no time. Delilah also wondered why someone would trust a snake. Not in the literal sense of course, but most wouldn't even dare cross a Slytherin's path, why take it? Delilah was extremely happy that she as being trusted though, because she wasn't a threat to anyone, she simply just wanted to help. And that helpfulness, was genuine. She wanted to make friends, and misleading people probably wasn't the best way to do it, so she'd try this.
Delilah was actually looking forward to being in the Kitchen once again, seeing the little elves and what not. They were always friendly to her, and she loved the company. Not having many friends herself, she was glad she could rely on somebody to make her day, even if they weren't of the human variety.
D felt herself flush a bit, she wasn't sure what year Tianne was in, so she ventured on a guess, she was wrong though, and when wrong, she got a little flustered with herself. Delilah nodded, tests and exams were stupid, and she didn't believe that they really tested how well you knew the subject. She was more hands on, and tests, never showed how much she really knew. "It is stupid... OWLs and NEWTs..." She said, hoping she'd do better than she did last year.

As Delilah began to walk, Tianne automatically followed. She wasn't sure if she was meant to, but Tianne hadn't really put much thought into the whole thing, she prefered to just act on her first intuition. Tianne had always been impulsive and spontaneous, and by now, things just came naturally to that, she didn't even bother arguing with herself. Tianne was the kind of person that debated with herself over nothing, and oddly, as she wasn't sure about how, she never really won. Being absorbed in her thoughts wasn't the best thing to be doing now, as she had just met up with someone new, and Tianne really didn't want to seem rude.
Shaking her head, ridding herself of the floated feeling that incapacitated Tianne when she began thinking, the clouds that fogged up her sense of decency and politeness, Tianne gave the girl a confused grin, and hoped that she hadn't said anything whilst Tianne had been in her daze.
"I'm not too happy with how I'm going, and when I do that, then I don't know why, I get heaps stressed out, and sick, and I study all the time. I know I shouldn't, but... So, I'm taking a break!" She smiled catching up with the gitl so she could walk next to the girl.

The small snake nodded, wondering how long and hard this girl had truly been studying for. There was a small flight of steps ahead of them, they weren't big steps, but the ones that were close together. Delilah had to consciously be aware of them so as to not trip and make a fool of herself. She often wondered if they weren't just normal stairs, she saw plenty of people trip. If you took your eyes off the steps, that's all it took before you found yourself face down in hard floor. Delilah smiled, it was meant for Tianne but she was still looking down, "Watch yourself on these steps." She cautioned. "A break never hurt anyone," she said finally in respone to Tianne's comment before, "I've never heard anyone on their death bed wishing they had studied more... Why not enjoy lfie?" Delilah said, finally at the top of their little flight of steps. She looked around, hoping the other girl hadn't fallen, or gotten hurt.

If Delilah had known how long that Tianne had studied for, and the amount of effort that was put into her work, she would not have believed her. Tianne's study levels had increased dramatically, they were off the chart. No, Delilah had no idea how important this was to Tianne, if she failed her OWLs, she was going to be pulled out of Hogwarts. It was a discussion that she'd had with her over-working, competitive mother over the summer, and Tianne knew that Hogwarts was the one place in the world that she'd want to spend her life in.
Tripping slightly over the step, Tianne was glad to have re caught her balance, and she hadn't humiliated the girl that she was trying so hard to make a good impression on. "Fortunately, I don't think I'm dying in the near future." Tianne joked, knowing that if she was on her death bed, after just failing her OWLs, she would care about it. It was stupid, but these were the building bricks of her world. "But it is great to have a break. My eyes were getting tired, and my brain was getting bored. I swear I read the same sentence ten times just before I stopped for my break." She smiled, following the girl to the top.

Delilah's family life was pretty well non-existent. Had she known about Tianne, she would have been understanding, but she didn't. Her mother cared somewhat, but knew that if Delilah did not care about her own studies, there was nothing her mother could do about it. And her father was always going to be happy for her no matter what. Delilah always thought she was lucky in that perspective. One parent did not care, and the other was always going to be by her side no matter what. Of course Delilah had her own standards, and knew she would have to work for things she really wanted, and of course, she did. But schooling wasn't always her favorite thing to be trying her best at. Now Quidditch, that was a different story.
The Slytherin girl let out a small laugh, "One never knows what the future holds." She said, continuing on their path towards the Kitchens. She was slightly impressed with herself. That actually sounded a bit philosophical to her. "I swear I read the same sentence ten times just before I stopped for my break." Delilah laughed a little harder. "Wow tell me about it! I hate re-reading the same sentence over and over." She said. Sometimes, it was easy to get sidetracked, and even if you didn't, some times the eyes don't want to work properly.

[ Gaaah, sorry for the delay :$ ]
Tianne kind of wished that she wasn't so much in touch with her parents, but up[on thinking it over, she wouldn't have it any other way. Family life is, was and always will be important to the girl, and Tianne wasn't really sure if she'd be able to cope without contact. Sure, pretty immense pressure was put onto the girl to perform, but now that she was fifteen, she had grown used to it. She didn't want to hate contact, so she had learnt to like it, something that her sister had told her to do.
Of course, John wasn't Tianne's real father, but she thought of him as one. She didn't want to, nor was she allowed, to keep in contact with her paternal father, but he didn't mean anything to her. He had hurt Tianne's mother in more than one way, so he had been dropped off the map for all that Tianne cared. Shaking her head, the thing she did to almost rid the thoughts from her mind, Tianne gave a smile to the girl.
"And aren't I glad at that." Tianne laughed, in response to the girls comment, One never knows what the future holds. "It's so frustrating! Sometimes I swear I get close to throwing the book across the room. I like reading when I want to, not when I have to."

(aw, no worries at all =) )
For the Slytherin girl, there were moments with her family that made her who she was. She was kind and bubbly because of the quirkiness she saw in her dad, and in turn, she practiced. But she was also harsh and sarcastic and this came from her mother's witty remarks when Delilah ever asked her a question. These extreme polar opposites in her parents, often made her wonder why they were together... But when the young girl saw her parents together, the love between them was phenomenal, and often times, she wished she could find that, but she of course would reveal that to no one. But these moments of quirkiness, wittiness, and love, made her who she was, and although life wasn't always happy, any hardships, were always worth it.
Delilah was wondering what Tianne was thinking about, and wondered if their thoughts were at all related. She smiled back at the Eagle... it seemed like they both had something to hide. Then again, who didn't?
Pretty soon, Delilah was excited, and the next statement she said, showed it, "Ya I know! It's the same thing with writing. I hate having to write papers and essays... But I'll write in my journal every day without complaint." She said, grinning. It was nice being able to relate to someone. Seems like the two girls were having a good beginning.

Tianne hadn't really thought about what her family had made her, how they had changed the way she was, how they had influenced her. She hadn't felt that she was different to what she was before she came to Hogwarts, but she was definitely more out there, and less quiet, then she was when she was at home with her parents and family. She missed them, and she resented not being able to spend any time with her brother, whose first birthday was fast approaching. Her family made her feel safe, and secured, protected and loved. She couldn't live without her family; no way.
Offering the girl a smile in exchange for the one that Tianne had received, she was quite glad that she had met up with this girl. Of all the Slytherins that Tianne had come into contact with, she was by far the nicest, and most personable. "I wish I had a journal that I wrote in like that. Reading is my godsend, but I'd love to be able to willingly write, to express stuff. I just can't write, I'm too much of a perfectionist, i guess!" Tianne lauged.
