If anything calmed Abigail down it was darkness. She came off with a shy demeanor, but the Gryffindor was quite the thrill seeker. Armed with only her wand she walked down the darkest dungeon in Hogwarts on the darkest most rainy night she could. The halls were clammy with condensation and the air was stuffy. Abigail loved it. If she closed her eyes she could pretend she was in some faraway castle or in the secret chamber of an evil lord trying to take over the world. In each scenario she was the hero, saving everyone else's life from said bad guy.
Abigail stopped and looked around. She was at a four way intersection. Weird, she never saw this before and she swore she knew the dungeons as well as the Weasley twins. Taking a few more steps she now stood in the middle of the four way. her back was to the way she just came. The way to the right smelled slightly like stale water and plants. She guessed it lead down to something to do with the lake. She didn't want to go there. The way to the front looked like it had a flight of steps that lead up to somewhere, probably the school. Nix that. That only left the path to her left. Nodding confidently she turned and started walking down that path.
The instant she left the four way she felt much colder, like she went outside without a jacket after standing in a cozy house all day. Pulling her jacket around her lithe form she went on. No chance of going back now. She had serious exploring to do. The walls here were wetter. They seemed to ooze water from themselves rather then drip from the ceilings as there were no stalactites. It was quite amazing down there. Most people, even ones who swore they weren't afraid of the dark would probably be on their toes whilst walking down there.
Abigail wasn't one of those people who freaked out in the dark. So when she hear some footsteps behind her she didn't scream to run to hide. Quickly and quietly she ran into a alcove and pressed herself against the wall. They didn't notice her, whoever this person was. She was in clear if it was a teacher. Even better if it was a student. Her breathing stayed normal as she waited for the body to pass her.

Maya walked slowly in the menicing darkness, her left hand brushed against the slightly damp wall, which made her shiver and sent goosebumbs up her arm, while her right hand gripped her wand with a white knuckled fist. Maya was wearing her usual green sweatpants, brown sweatshirt and a pair of thick socks, but dispite the fact that she looked rather sung, the girl was still shivering noticably. Her wand was still unlit as she wandered aimlessly in the dark, partly because she was worried about teachers and partly because if there was anythink creepy or slimy lurking nearby she felt that she would rather not know. Maya was jumpy enough as it was.
A string of curses escaped her lips, most of them in spanish, as her toe snagged on a slightly jutting cobble stone and she stumbled forward, her left hand groping at the wall for something to stop her from falling on her face. Meraculously it found one, but releif was quickly replaced by dismay as she realized that what ever she had latched on to was giving under her weight. Suddenly the think that felt like metal jerked to a stop and again her releif was subdued by loud horrible grinding sound. Maya released the object as it pulled away from her grip, and she lurched backward against the opposite wall.
She stood there breathing hard, even when the awfle grinding of stone on stone stopped, then she finally lit her wand with a softly whispered, "Lumos." Light exploded from her wand tip and Maya had to blink several times to let her eyes adjust. When she could finally see, Maya found herself looking at an open passageway that caved out from the rest of the wall. It seemed that Maya had triggered it by accidently pulling down on what she could now see was an empty torch rack. Maya could see a few yards down the passageway steps but beyond that was only darkness.
Maya didn't think of herself as curagous, but rather impulsively curious. While it had been bordom that had driven her out of bed in the late hours, it was curiosity that drove her to walked cautiously down the stairs. The part of the wall that she had opened swung shut behind her, and Maya felt her throat close in terror. Maya hated being locked in, and a wave of clostrophobia washed over her. "Don't panic, don't panic, don't panic," Maya chanted to herself as she forced her feet onward. She was almost giddy with releif when she reached what looked like a dead end, but her eyes were fixed on the empty torch rack. She rushed forward to yank it down, and her face lit up as the swung open.
Maya found herself at a four was intersection, and without pausing Maya trotted down the left passage. Maya continued along this rout for several minutes before her pace slowed and she stopped to look around. "Crap..." Maya muttered darkly under her breath as she realized that because of the secret passageway, she now had no clue where she was. She started shivering again, and she slumped against the wall to think, tapping the glowing end of her wand rythmically to her palm. Maya was quiet for a while to where all she could here was her own soft breathing and...someone else's? Maya froze, her wand tip poised an inch above her palm. Growing up in the desert, Maya learned to always be aware of even the smallest noises because you never knew when you were about to step on a sand snake.
"Knox," she breathed and the light flicked out and the darkness rushed in to greet her. "Who's there?" Maya called out softly. Maybe she was just imganing things.

Hearing someone call out 'who's there' made Abigail want to giggle. Had this person never watched a horror movie? Well, since this was Hogwarts the answer may as well been yes, but still? Who called out 'who's there?' Abigail had no idea. One part of her wanted to make them sweat in their worry. She didn't mean to be mean, but really people needed to learn not to walk around in the dark by themselves, setting themselves up for bad situations. This didn't apply to Abigail though, she was the one with the upper hand here.
Sighing quietly she pushed herself off the wall and moved at inch to look out into the hall. All she could see was a body that was small in stature and obviously female. Sighing again she took a step into the hall, but crushed her body again the wall. She didn't want to be found just yet.
Grey eyes looking to her right she felt something new. Power. She had the power to scare the living dragon dung out of this girl or say hi and only mildly scare her. Weighing her options in her mind the second seemed to have much less side effects such as hexes, trouble, and animosity. Taking one step away from the wall she coughed quietly to announce her presence. As she did this her hand went to her wand....just in case.

With every seconded of the silent darkeness that passed, Maya's heart rate increased to where it was hammering away in her chest and she had to fingt to keep her breathing even. Her ears were roaring in the pounding silence and her eyes were squeezed tightly shut, not that it made a difference, it just felt safer some how. Maya despised the horror movies that her brothers loved so much because they made her feel just like did right then, like she was trapped with an unknown evil close by.
Maya almost jumped out of skin when someone cleared their voice only a few feet away. A small shriek escaped Maya's lips but she didn't have enough air in her lungs to give it any volume. "Lumos," Maya gasped as she lurched away from the person. The light blinded her and it took a moment for Maya to find the other girl. "Abigail!" Maya cried and almost threw herself on her yearmate in releif but stopped herself in time. She sagged against the wall and whiped sweat from her forhead even though she was still shivering. "You scared me..." Maya said, giving Abigail a weak smile.
