Anna grinned a bit when Talia asked her what her costume was. "I'm not telling." she laughed. "You'll just have to find out when you see me at the dance. I hope it won't be too hard to recognize me." Now that she said that she wouldn't tell her until the dance, Anna felt pretty sure that Talia wouldn't her her costume. "Is there someone you're going to the ball with?"

Verina's eyebrows pinched slightly in puzzlement as she entered her Defense Against the Dark Arts class to find that all the desks had been removed. Decideing she'd find out in a moment she spotted their professor, "Hi Professor," she smiled brightly, "I'm Verina Alvarez, new transfer."
After having introduced herself she noticed all of the portraits around the classroom and their apparant bickering. Verina smiled as she crossed the room to a pair of portraits. She'd always liked talking to the portraits she came in contact with she knew that was a little odd but she didn't really care.

He walked in the DADA classroom. This was his older brother's favorite class. But now, all Logan knew that his brother was a professional Quidditch Chaser for the Falmouth Falcons. He knew they we're doing good this season and that his brother scored atleast 20 goals this season, new record. He saw some of his classmates. He then walked by Talia and saw her talking to Anna. He then scoot back three spaces so he wouldn't interupt, he then walked by a wall that had some stuff on it. He was 'observing it'.

Ash clicked her tongue as she leaned against the wall, waiting for everyone to get here and the lesson to begin.
Her eyes set onto a owl, flying behind the DADA classroom's window. Ash heaved a sigh, when was her mother ever going to owl? It had been months since they've seen eachother, it was really abnormal for her to just 'forget' about Ash Her birthday and Winter break was coming up, she at least expected a small greeting by mail. Although, Ash wouldn't hold it against her mother, she was a busy woman, but the question was, what was she so busy doing? Shaking it off her mind, she finally gave a small wave to Professor Raynor, "Hello..."

Talia grinned at Anna. Now she wanted to know what, or who, the girl was going as, but she wasn't going to press it any further. She let out a small laugh at her next question, a playfull smirk spread across her face. "Well, you'll just have to wait and see now, won't you?" She said. It was her turn to be a little mysterious. She stole a glance at Logan and smiled, wondering if he caught it or not. She turned back to Anna and grinned, "I won't even bother asking who you're going with." She said, wondering if what she just said made any sense what so ever...

The class had been given enough time to get settled. The door to the Defense classroom slammed shut. She had nodded to those that greeted her, giving a murmur of a reply in return here or there. But nothing drastic.
At last, the Professor stirred, stretching slightly. "Welcome back, fourth years, I can sincerely say that as I have not seen any of you since the Sorting Feast, and we all know how that went. Now, Mr. Thornton kindly played the role of a Professor's aid for me during my absence and he said you had made considerable distance."
She paused, waiting for an uproar if this was not true, or perhaps any sudden backlashes or outbursts that might follow. Drew was an excellent student, but wasn't sure if he had his sister's tutoring talents.
"If you have not made as much progress as was said, don't worry. You can play catch-up for the next week or so as we will still be covering this topic. Any questions on what you have been taught by Mr. Thornton that needs clarification?"

Jack knew that the class must be starting when the classroom door slammed shut and the Deputy began to speak. He had to smile at what she had said remembering clearly how the sorting feast had gone and the events that happened in it.
He was a bit disappointed to hear that they wouldn’t be moving on to something different and would still be working on Patronus Charm, but he couldn’t say that he didn’t need the extra practice or information on the charm. So far he had only been able to produce a sliver blob that had minimal form to it, even though he had given the charm a bit of practice outside of class. Drew had done a pretty good job on explaining what they had to do to get the charm to work, or so Jack thought he did, and Jack couldn’t think of anything that he needed to be clarified. So he just sat there quietly waiting to see if anyone else had any questions.

Pat had been standing near the wall, mainly just waiting for class to start, giving signs of greeting every time someone walked in, but mostly remaining quiet and to the side, having pretty much nothing to contribute to the individual conversations going on.
The shutting (or rather, slamming) of the door signaled the start of class. It seemed that they were still working on the Patronus Charm, which suited Pat fine. He had no problem with Patronuses. True, they were difficult, and rather draining, and no-one had made much progress, but the subject was alright.
When Raynor asked if anyone had any questions, Pat hesitated for a moment, then raised his hand. "I got one. Just how rare is it for someone to be able to do a Patronus at Drew's age?" Not a terribly urgent or important question, true, but it was a question about the material, and Pat wanted to know.

Ash smiled a little when Professor Raynor mentioned that they were going to have to work on their Patronuses again. She had been terrible in Drew's class perhaps she could improve a little in this one? ... then again her magic was hopeless. Ash frowned and raised her hand after Pat, not hearing his question. This was pretty random but she had been wondering about this earlier and never got the chance to look it up, " Can the animal that forms from the patronus be human? ...or perhaps a magical creature of any sort?"

That was a humorous question at the least, but a fair one that Patrick had asked. "If you mean can most students Mr. Thornton's age create a patroni like his? No, they cannot. If he demonstrated for you, you saw a corporeal patronus, a full-fledged one. Even few adult wizards can create a full-fledged patronus, I happen to be one of them. Most patronus' are fuzzy around the edges, and in the case of fifteen year olds, shapes with just enough form to show what they look like if you are good."
There was no sense in sugar-coating the fact after all. It was the truth. Half the class would never create a full-fledged patronus unless they put some serious effort into aiming for the goal. The problem was that most people did not. And that was one of the reasons she had picked Drew to teach this lesson.
"Another good question, Miss Xin. Patroni usually take the form of animals, as we seem to relate more to animals than most other creatures. Some of us, Animagus, transfigure into one, and I'm sure everyone in this room has a favorite one. They are usually animals, but sometimes they can be something different. But a patronus always has some significance to the wizard, even if they don't understand what that significance is."
She gave them all a few minutes to absorb that before continuing. "If one does, however manage to create a semi to full-fledged patronus, they have other tasks than just fending off creatures like Lethifold and Dementors though that is its main purposes. They can also be used as messengers, but it seems none of you are quite at the level to approach Patronus' in that way. So, if there are no more questions, you may all continue your practice."
And the Professor could take a much needed breath.
(( I'll keep the class open a little longer so those that want to RP their practicing may do so. ))

She set her hand down, wondering if her patronus would be something stupid like what Lauren had mentioned- a worm... It probably was, I mean, she could hardly tell what her patronus was the last time she attempted to cast one- it was like a thin string of silver smoke. From all she knew it could have been a worm. She sighed, how embarrassing would that be?
Ash flicked her wand about trying to think of a happy memory. When her father had taught her how to tie her shoes? No... that wouldn't work.
The clock ticked... one, two, three, four minutes. She stared at the ceiling, remembering the time when her mother had gotten a promotion after the leave of her father and Ivy. She was so happy because she remembered the hot bowls of noodle soup and steaming dishes of fish, pork, and some sort of tofu dish. Her mouth was watering just staring at the food set out on the table. It was a lot then- at least to Ash and her mother, Ru. Barely scraping by as a single mother with the money she made, Ru had always been a hard worker and had waited years for that promotion.
She gave her wand a nice swish, " Expecto Patronum!"

Jack had heard that patronuses were hard to produce but since the last class when Drew was the teacher he had been trying to rack his brains to think of a memory that would be good enough. So far he had managed to think of a couple memories that might work but when he got around to trying them out in his spare time they didn’t seem to be strong enough or he was doing something wrong with the incantation. The best one he had managed to produce so far was a silvery substance semi shaped, but with no real definition. The only thing that he could tell was that it looked like it was some kind of a fish or something streamline.
He had decided that he would give one of the memories that he had came up with the other night a shot. Taking out his wand he echoed, " Expecto Patronum,” after Ash. The only thing that erupted out of it was exactly what had came out of it the other night, a slightly distinguishable blob. Ok so need to think of another memory, maybe.
Trying to think of another memory he remembered that they hadn’t had a chance to see Professor Raynor’s patronus and he was interested in knowing what kind of a shape that it would turn into. He hadn’t really ever thought about asking to see her patronus before because it hadn’t really ever occured to him that she would be able to produce one, but now that he thought about it she must be able to produce one. She was after all the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor. Thinking that it couldn’t hurt him to ask he raised his hand and said, “If you don’t mind me asking what form does your patronus take and would you mind showing it to us?”
