At long last, the door in the back of the classroom closed on its own accord. Waiting until she had heard the click that signaled the door was locked, Raynor nodded. It would need a decent locking. Especially since the clean-up after this lesson was going to be bad enough. But to have it escape the room? A shiver.
"Settle down now," she said once, waiting until the class had complied to her wishes. A smile was perking on her lips. Never a good sign as it meant that she was particularly excited over a lesson. The Deputy excited usually meant the class would be horrified.
"Gather your things and move to the perimeter of the room, please." She informed them. "Don't leave anything behind that you are going to wish to keep."
(( Class has begun. Note that the door is locked. If you post yourself late, you're going to be stuck outside the classroom. ))

She didn't bother answering Ty because she knew talking while the Professor was talking led to bad things. Already sitting against the wall, the perimeter of the room, Abby pulled her bag onto her lap and wrapped her arms around it tightly; she didn't want anything inside it getting ruined. The second year was now fully awake from her daydream and focused on the lesson, which was definately a good thing considering Raynor's enthusiasm.

Matty felt a sharp jolt in her eye before looking over to Jynx, who must have thrown it. She heaved up her bag walking over to where he and the other thrid years were. She then waited untill the Deputy had finished taking before saying, "No need for throwing Jynx" she said a half playful, half stern voice. When she had leaned agaist the wall, not sitting down but making sure that her bag was not relvied to whatever they were dealing with she gazed back to Jynx. "Hello, sorry i didn't answer before, had something else on my mind" shruging and looking back over to the Deputy Headmistress and smiling.

"Just wanted to get your attention. I didn't mean for it to hit you in the eye." Jynx said half smiling. He was a bit taken back by the professors announcement that they should move all their things to the perimeter. He moved his bag out of the way so that Matty could sit down storing it behind himself so that it would be safe from whatever the professor was going to unleash. "That's ok I just wanted you to know that I was sitting over here. So when you were done with your conversation you could join me." he said smiling at her and hoping that his crumbled up piece of parchment hadn't hurt when it made contact. He noway wanted to hit her in the eye.

Misaki turned around to listen to whatever Professor Raynor was talking about. When she began to talk, why did Misaki have a really bad feeling developing in the pit of her stomach? Who knows, guess she would have to find out. Anyway, following the professor's instructions, she moved her things out of the way and put her bag around the perimiter of the room. Now to find out what they were going to do for class.

Once everyone had indeed moved away from the middle of the room, the Professor picked up the tank and moved out of the way herself. Then, she reached into her pocket and retrieved a small object. Any student who was familiar with the WWW would have recognized it for what it was. Turning it over to read the back, Raynor once again made sure that you could apply dimensions to it.
Once assured, she threw it into the middle of the classroom. It exploded when it hit the floor, and... grew. That was the only way to describe it. Fog filled the room, and the floor grew mud and mush, before long, they had a complete bog in the middle of the room. An 'Instant Bog' at that, part of the same line of the 'Instant Swamps'. But it was carefully retained in the majority of the room, coming close, but not touching the students sitting or standing along the wall.
Anything left behind would have been so incredibly slim covered that not even the best cleaning charm would have been able to repair it.
"Today we are continuing our discovery with Dark Creatures. More importantly with a dark creature commonly referred to as a 'Hinkypunk'. Anyone know what they are?" The tank was still at her feet, but it was beginning to jostle dangerously. The Professor stepped on top of it to keep it from tipping.

Jynx watched as the professor threw the something into the middle of the room. He was suprised to see that it turned into an instant bog, that was definately not what he was expecting and was even more glad that he had taken her advice and moved his bag behind him. Hearing the question he raised his hand and said, "The Hinkypunk is a creature that lures travelers into bogs with the light that it carries. "

Misaki stared at the bog forming on the floor in amazement. "Wicked..." she muttered. When the professor asked a question, Misaki immediatly came up with an answer, but Jynx beat her to it. Hearing his answer, it sounded like what she was going to say but she couldn't help but add a little bit of the information she knew about them. Raising her hand she added, "Hinkypunks also look like they are made of smoke and have only one leg."

Ty watched as the instant bog formed right in front of his eyes. Cool, I'm just glad that I don't have to clean this place up after were done here. he thought as he saw the mess that it made in the room. He didn't have any idea of what they would need a bog for since he really had no clue what a Hinkypunk was. All he knew was that he didn't really want to go and test the bog out, because of how dirty his clothes would be if he did. He hoped that the professor didn't expect them to wade through it or anything like that.

Kylie was glad that she had taken the professor's advice and had moved all of her belongings out of the middle of the class and next to the wall. She watched as a bog appeared out of nowhere and thought that it was too cool how you could just make one appear from a kit. She was a bit surprised to see the container jerk around a bit on the floor and the professor stand on it to make it stop. Hinkypunks must be a little rambunctious or they just didn't take well to being pinned up she thought to herself as she leaned back against the wall. She then listened to what Jynx and Misaki had to say about the Dark Creature they were learning about today and took notes on the things that were new to her.

Matty watched in a gaze as the swamp appeared in the middle of the room. When it had finished growing she started at it for a few seconds before looking to Jynx when he answered the Professors question. When he had finished, she then look to Misaki. When they had both finished Matty looked back to the swamp in the room. She was really glad that she had warned them to move their things. Ripping her eyes from the swamp, Matty looked back up to the Professor to see how she would answer.

Lianna too claimed her bag, that within both held her diary for the year as well as everything else for all her other classes between now and dinner, which really wasn't alot but they were important. She also, at Professor Raynor's statement moved from the center of the room until she was close to the nearest wall, but not against it. Claim your stuff meant something was either amiss, going to be loose or both, and that in turn meant get away from it.
However she couldn't escape the both rather musky and nasty smelling and looking bog that now coated the classroom floor. So much for clean shoes and socks. Up to her ankles in wet, brown, and foul smelling muck the girl fought the urge to complain. Regardless of its current state, it was still Raynor's classroom. The woman probably didn't want to hear complaing. She realized it was her fault after all, having not backed up quite far enough. Her feet made a squelching noise as she moved toward the wall, her left shoe being left to the mercy of mud and whatever else in the process.
The girl was grimacing in discontent as she stared down at the formerly white and now brown sock on her left foot. She didn't know who was near her, or for that matter, if anyone was laughing at her. The only thing she was even perhaps semi-actively listening to was Raynor, and it was probably for the better that she did so as her current embarassment level was pretty high...
A small pout wrestled its way onto her face as the girl slumped down the wall into a sitting position, her eyes remaining ever focused on the missing shoe and ruined sock. Not evne a decent cleaning charm could cure this.

Devon just kind of sat there in awe. Nothing like this would ever have happened at Wales Smithie. Devon couldn't help but let a broad smile take over his face as he became more intrigued at the professor just sort of threw something onto the floor. And it exploded. Explosions were one of Devon's favourite things, so now he was totally hooked. On the edge of his seat, Devon wouldn't have even know if someone was talking to him. He was too enthralled by the growing...thing...that had just exploded in the middle of the room.
"Cool...," Devon murmured as he watched a few students were unfortunate enough to not get out of the way quickly. He wanted to laugh, but that was just mean. Then again...it was their own fault... Devon allowed himself a chuckle. Only a small one, not loud enough to be heard, but still a chuckle. Defense Against the Dark Arts was now totally going to be his favourite subject. "That was blood brilliant, professor," Devon piped up after the others had answered her question about the Hinkypunks.

(( Thank you for your patience ))
"Correct Mr. Caffee, Miss Tsukino, five points to each of your houses. Hinkypunks are indeed a one legged creature, whom have a camouflage ability to make themselves blend with mist. They are, in fact, quite solid. But yes, their main goal is to lure the unsuspecting into bogs."
Hosting at the tank, she caught Lianna's gaze.. the way the corners of the girls eyes were wrinkled, her eyes snake like. Having never seen such a look on the presumingly angelic Hufflepuff, it had Raynor perplexed. The girl looked as if something was not quite settling with her stomach. Then she caught the slime and gunk covered sock.
Raynor quickly diverted her gaze, not wishing to embarrass the girl. Devon's sudden outburst was the perfect opportunity.
"That you, Mr. Coleman. I perform every Tuesday and Thursday, but I daresay the Starbreezes can keep you occupied the rest of the week." She replied with a slight smirk, picking up the tank.
"Hinkypunks draw their victims with the use of a light that they carry in their fist. The unsuspecting victim sees the light and tries to follow it out of the bog, only to be snagged by the hinkypunk. These victims are usually muggle who believe the light is a light-house, or a flash-light." She pronounced the two muggle words carefully. As if to make sure she had them right.
The Professor put the cage down near the beginning of the bog. "We are letting him out, so I hope all of you are not foolish to follow him in. You'll be scrubbing dishes for months if you do as that would mean I would have to go in after you."

Ty was listening to what the Professor had to say about Hinkypunks, when all of a sudden he felt some of the slime hit him in the face. It wasn't like his whole face was covered in it or anything, but it still made him mad. Turning to look he saw Jynx trying to hide his slime covered hand and knew that it must have been him who had thrown it.
Ty really not in that great of a mood anyways picked up a little of the slime in front of him and just as Professor Raynor picked up the tank launched it in Jynx's direction. Not bothering to look and see what part of Jynx he had hit Ty went back to listening to what the professor was saying just in time to catch the bit about scrubbing dishes.
