Jason Walked out of the common room, He had woken up and ran earlier in the morning. After getting a shower, he got dressed and walked down to the great hall. He walked in and saw a bunch of students eating and talking. He sat at a table and helped himself to some eggs and toast. He took a bite of his toast and grabbed a copy of the Daily Prophet. He began to read when an owl droped a letter infont of him. "Thanks" he said sarcastically when the owl flew away. Jason Open the letter and began to read. Jason We just got to Dutch Harbor and I Figuerd I would drop you a line. The season is going well, so far were at 300,000 pounds of crab with alot more to go. I have some bad news though earlyer this week the F/V Norhthern Wind sunk about 120 miles from Dutch. Mac was the only one that dident survive it. I know you him were friends so I figuerd I would tell you before you got out here this summer. We hope you are well. Aunt Zoey P.S. Kaylee says that she gona kill you for not coming home for christmas
Jason Finished the letter and closed it "aww Mac" he said quietly He put the letter down when someone sat down acrossed form him.

Tianne had been dying to eat breakfast, ever since, well, ever since she had arisen from her cave earlier than she'd thought she would ever get up. She had nothing to do the previous night, and her mind had turned completely against studying, so she went to bed at eight, and awoken at four in the morning. She hadn't been bothered to go for her run, although later on she knew that she'd regret that, and instead, she'd decided to read a book that she had been planning to for years. The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time, a winner of the whitbread book of the year, written by Mark Haddon had been sitting in the girls drawers for months, but she had never had the chance.
Dog-earring her page at 88, Tianne decided that it was breakfast time, and left the common room to go downstairs to the great hall. Today, for some reason, maybe it was the extended time that she had to get ready, Tianne looked different, a lot older, dressed in nicer things than her laundry usually allowed her. A pair of dress-blue skinny jeans, with her hair left curly, and planted on a bun on the side of her head, Tianne didn't have the tired look that she usually had when going down to breakfast. She looked, well, nice.
Seeing Jason, a fellow ravenclaw, although a year older than the girl, already sitting there, Tianne made her way over to him, taking a seat. Offering the boy a sweet grin as she reached for a piece of jam toast, Tianne took a bite and placed her book on the table next to her. Today was the day she was expecting her care package from her family, and they were always more fun to open with people there. "Hey Jason." She grinned again, her mouth full of the sweet taste of strawberry. "How ya doin'?" She said, defying her cute look and speaking with her mouth full. Someone really had to teach this girl a lesson.

Jason put the letter on the table and rubbed his forehead. Jason couldn't believe that his friend was dead. Jason put the letter on the table. When Tianne sat acrossed form him he smiled weakly. "Hey you whats up" He asked her grabbing some more bacon. Jason eyeballed the letter one more time then turned back to Tianne who was stuffing her face with strawberry's.
Jason Smiled again and laughed weakly. "I can tell you this much, your doing better than i am" He said "Enjoying those" he said puffing his cheeks to poke fun at her.

Tianne, in her delightfully good mood, a mood that nothing could spoil, was totally oblivious to the fact that the boy actually had things going on in his life, something that she could not even imagine happening to her. Of course, the girl would have physically taken it a lot harder than the boy, but female emotions and how they were expressed were much, much different to the way that the males expressed theirs. It was something that Tianne didn't fully understand, but she also didn't care too much, and she didn't bother trying to either. They were different, simple as that.
Swallowing the mouthful that had current incapacitation the girl from talking properly, Tianne poked her tongue out at the boy, before adding a cheeky smile to the end of it. "I sure was, until you busted my party." She joked, giving a chuckle before finding herself something else to eat. She sure was hungry, and there was anything in the world that was suppress that feeling. "What brings you down to the hall, on this fine lovely morning?" She smiled politely, taking a bite, much smaller, mind you, to her last one. Putting the half of the strawberry that she didn't eat in her first bite down onto the plate, Tianne smiled. "Oh, you got a letter!" She smiled, gesturing towards the letter that sat in front of the boy, not knowing what it contained.

Jason smiled when Tianne stuck her her tongue out at him. He look a bite of bacon and turned back to Tianne
Jason laughed a little, "what brings me down here every morning" he said holding up a piece of bacon. Jason took a bite of the bacon and grabbed another piece. "Breakfast" When Tianne mentioned the letter Jason's happy expression was gone. He looked over at it for a minuet. He picked it up and Handed it to Tianne to read.

Although one might have said that Tianne was immature for her age, she was just teasing. Tianne always teased people like this, it was her special way of getting the conversation started, and the awkwardness broken. Grinning at the boy with his reply, Tianne shrugged. It was pretty obvious why he was down here, with his letter and the breakfast that he had sitting on the table in front of him, as well as the time of day, but she hadn't put two and two together; it was too early to think logically.
"Good point." She said, grabbing a piece of toast, and taking a bite off the corner. When handed the letter, Tianne was a little surprised that Jason would trust her to read his won personal letter, but she wasn't going to turn down his offer. Skimming through the letter as she muttered it to herself, the last part really was the only part that she read properly. "We just got to Dutch Harbor ... The season is going well ... I have some bad news though earlier this week ... Mac was the only one that didn't survive it. I know you him were friends so I figured I would tell you before you got out here this summer."
Wiping the smile of her face, and replacing it with a thoughtful look, Tianne looked up at Jason. "I'm... I'm so sorry." She said, her voice quieter than she had wanted it to be. Jason would have been able to hear her, but only just.

Jason didn't say anything, he took a bite of his toast. He still found it hard to believe that Mac was gone. Every summer Mac and Jason would run around Seattle and hang out. It was Macs first year out on the crab boat, and the Bearing sea took him. Jason wondered when the funeral was, and maybe Raynor would let him leave for a week to go. Jason looked over at Tianne and smiled, he herd her say she was sorry. "Its okay, Alaskan crab is the deadliest job in the world, and well things happen" Jason looked back at his toast and took a bite. "he died doing what he wanted to do"

Sitting as still as she probably ever done so, Tianne didn't know what to do, nor what she was supposed to say. She felt guilty, for coming in with such a strong spirit, a high happiness level, when the boy must have been as down as the daisies. Okay, so that wasn't a good simile, but she knew that Jason must have been upset. Offering the boy a sympathetic smile, Tianne couldn't be empathetic, she had never really gone through anything like that. No one close to the girl had died, her father had been sent to prison, but that was whens she was eight, and she felt nothing towards him.
"Jason. Are you okay?" She smiled, although it was as forced and as contrived as the girl had ever been. "Still, its unfair to see anyone go." Tianne spoke quietly, looking down at the table. Man, did she feel bad now.
