When was the last time Matty had been in the Library? Ages, she assumed. It had literally been weeks since the Fifth year had entered this section of the castle, and it was kind of daunting when the Hufflepuff first stepped through into the large room. Her lush green eyes glanced around, scanning all the tall shelfs and rows of books. The teenager hitched her messenger bag up onto her shoulder, before beginning to walk down one isle, before heading to wards the back of the Library. She preferred it up there, for the younger years tended to stay away from this section, and therefore Matty didn't have a big chance of being bothered. She briefly looked along the rows, spotting a couple of people she knew, but not many. It was late afternoon, a bit after the sun at set, and so not allot of people hung out here, especially on a Friday afternoon. Matty, however, just needed to chill out and unwind at the moment.
After a little under a minute's walking the Fifth year reached a fair way down the Library, a few isles away from the restricted section. The girl wandered around for a bit, before finding a couple of tables and chair pushed up against a wall. Matty put her bag down on the table and smoothed out the invisible creases in her uniform. She had removed the black robes from her attire, and now simply wore her ballet flats, black stockings, skirt, shirt, jumper and tie. Her brown hair was rather curly today, and the teenager had pinned bangs back. To top off her 'school look' the girl wore her Quidditch Captain neatly on her chest, not bothering to remove it after she had finished her classes. Matty then proceeded to fish out an old and tattered book from her bag. She pulled out the comfy chair, that was similar to the lounge chairs in her Common Room, and pushed it's back against the wall. The teenager took a seat, getting comfy, before leaning back and opening up her book to the bookmarked place.
Catcher in the Rye, by J. D. Salinger, was one of the girls' favourite books. She had read it twice times before, and this was probably the third time running. Matty left a break between each year she read it, for every time the teenager picked up new values, and pieced together more morals in the book from the previous year. She was about halfway through it so far, and had decided to take some time out to read it. As the girl read each line, a small smirk eventually built up on her lips. "Merlin, Holden is one curious creature..." she thought to herself. It was odd in a way. After three years of reading this novel her dad had given her, the book itself being passed onto her from his youth, Matty felt that she had almost developed a relationship with the main character. It was almost as if she knew him, and there was a bond she could relate to. However she had decided that it was probably due to the ties with growing up, facing the world and losing someone you loved, that made it easy for her to relate to him.
The teenager was slowly sinking into the reading, that she didn't note the approaching footsteps. Had she, Matty probably wouldn't have paid much attention to them anyway. Odds are, it may have just been the librarian, or some firstie wanting to sneak a peek at the restricted section. It didn't matter though, because for the moment, Miss Wentworth wasn't in her world. She was in Holden's.
