17 Febuary 2008 Noon
Out of the frying pan and into the fire, the saying went. Raynor was sure she had just made a flying leap into that suicidal dive. It was done. Contracts were filled, important legal documents were filed both in the Head Office and at the Ministry. Now she had Alfonz Jedynak under her nose whether she wanted him or not. Soon the press would get wind of it, and the papers would be crawling with the news.
The Headmistress had to get to Celina Jedynak before that happened, and before the majority of the school started to notice that they had one of the most acclaimed Quidditch Professionals on campus (Raynor had particularly warned the young man about the likes of Charlie Jones). In other words, Raynor had to get to the Ravenclaw before the media means did. It was only polite to inform her in private of her brother's presence... and she didn't want the girl swooning in shock. Tamis did not think she would, but she wasn't sure she wouldn't.
She wanted this to be inconspicuous. So, the note she had sent the girl was addressed for this office, on the second floor rather than her private tower. And during lunch. Usually she tried not to take students from their meals, but she doubted the girl would mind. At least she hoped. In substitution, she had the house elves bring a small feast in its own right to the small, cramped room.
Her desk had been turned into a buffet, plates unceremoniously, and rather precariously placed on piles of parchment that layered its already cluttered surface. Hopefully, they had brought at least something that Celina would like.
The professor herself stood in the middle of the room, hands clasped behind her back, looking a serene calm that she under no means felt. She didn't understand why she felt so jittery about this. She was just informing a student that her brother had been employed at the school. That was all. It need not go any farther than that.
But she didn't feel that way. Did Celina know the truth about her brother? Did she know he was Deva? And if she did, how would she feel. Nonsense. Utter nonsense. They were siblings.
And now she just had to wait for the younger of the two to arrive.

And to think, she had thought she had gotten everything in line. Celina had started focusing on school to take her mind off of what was bothering her, she had avoided most of the people that she were friends with the last half of the year, and her grades were improving. And all of that had happened within the last couple of weeks, all she had needed was some advice from a professor here and there and some guidance from her one and only true friend, Emerald.
But now, everything was wrong and the letter from Headmistress Raynor only proved that. A vague owl sent to her, sending for her to be spoken with, shook the very core of whom Celina was. She knew it was too soon to see any of her hard work paying off in any sort of honor kind of way, but she couldn’t fathom anything good coming out of this meeting. She had focused so hard to only have her knees clattering together in fear of the discipline she was sure to follow.
Maybe she was finally getting into trouble for the pain she had caused to Felicity. At least that much she deserved, but Celina would have argued that she had had enough punishment from it…that was, if she argued with authoritative figures at all.
She didn’t want to stand where she was standing and Celina thought nothing of how Raynor had sent her to her second floor office instead of the Headmistress’ office. This is where Celina had known her to be since she had first arrived at Hogwarts, why would it have changed now? Celina still hadn’t really registered that the position she now held was any different. If she had, she would have been even more terrified.
Celina had no idea the nature of this visit, and only her speculations were there to torture her mind as she stood still, frozen, in front of the door to the office. She had been there for about ten minutes, almost in tears at what could be behind them waiting for her. She had wanted to be early, to make a good impression, but freezing when she had gotten to the door wasn’t apart of the plan. Finally, she rose her hand and tried to knock on the door without her shakes proving it to be difficult.
Knock, knock, knock…
Celina held her breath, and waited in silence.

Thrice knocked, and thrice Raynor winced.
It might not have her so self-conscious if she knew anything beyond the fact that Celina was in her house, had Drew for a friend, and was overall one of the more typical and studious Ravenclaws than what actually comprised the house. She knew nothing of the girl's personality beyond the classroom. This was not like meeting one on one with a student she had known intimately out of the classroom, the girl was overall a mystery. She could see the conversation now: Oh, why did I hire your brother, and create an occupation so that I could do so? Because I want to get inside the oppositions head, and if worse comes to worse, your dangling over his head to make sure he cooperates. Somehow, no matter what the Ravenclaw's personality, Tamis could not foresee that boding well.
She still had the student waiting on the other side of her door, patiently awaiting entrance.
Since she was already standing, the Headmistress opened the door, instead of allowing the person to let him or herself in as she usually did. Placing her hand on the nob, Raynor twisted the handle and came face to face with the fifth year she had been expecting. Everyone else would be at lunch. Food was a top priority among teenagers, if it had been another than the one she had called for, she would have suggested the Hospital Wing instead.
Silence ensued as Tamis took the brief interlude between the action of opening the door and greeting the girl to allow for a quick assessment. She looked nervous, perhaps even a little nauseated. Did she perhaps all ready know? The gave Raynor pause for consideration. Of course, in lieu of recent events, it never did cross the woman's mind that the girl was still distressed over the actions Robert took against Felicity Hjort.
A broad, closed-mouth smile warmed the Professor's countenance as she looked up at the girl -- as she had to do with most students over their first year.
"Miss Jedynak, I'm glad that you could make it. Please, come in." She stood aside to allow the girl to follow through with the request. "I apologize for depriving you of your lunch, the house elves have brought a couple things here if you wish to console your no doubt grumbling stomach."

Eyes wide as there was no answer for a few minutes, Celina almost wondered if there had been a mistake in the letter as she stood in wait for the Headmistress to answer the door. About to leave, the door handle jingled and Celina froze in place once more her eyes still as wide as ever and her face without color even more now than when she had arrived. Celina held her breath, and awaited to see the professor face to face.
The door opened slowly, or at least Celina couldn’t wait for it to be open so the woman could do whatever she was there to do with her and then allow her to leave. Celina gulped and sighed, for her body could no longer refrain itself from taking a breath, but as soon as that was done then she held her breath again.
Finally, Celina was looking straight at the Professor but avoided her eyes as much as she could. It wasn’t out of disrespect, but nervousness and habit that wouldn’t allow her to do as such. And even as the door was open, the two stood in silence for too many moments for Celina’s liking. She felt as if her heart would break out from her breast with how hard it now was beating against her rib cage. Celina sighed again hoping that it would release some of the built up pressure from the pounding.
Miss Jedynak, I'm glad that you could make it. Please, come in…I apologize for depriving you of your lunch, the house elves have brought a couple things here if you wish to console your no doubt grumbling stomach.
Professor Raynor took a step a side and allowed Celina entrance in which she reluctantly took. Walking in, she saw the desk with food and it only made her want to excuse herself to the bathroom. Food? The woman was mad to think that she would be hungry at a meeting such as this, but Celina voiced none of this out loud. “No…no thank you…” Celina stuttered, barely audible; she couldn’t even imagine eating at a time like this. There was no time that was taken for pleasure within the company of an authoritative figure.
Celina stood in the middle of the office, glancing a bit around just for a place to sit. When she was unsure of where she could Celina turned around and looked in the direction that Raynor was, but still never directly making eye contact. Celina could have cried with how uneasy she was, but she would hold her place until she knew exactly what was going on. The next this she heard was the click of the door being shut.

She knows everything.
That was the first thought that crossed Raynor's mind as she opened the door on a girl that could have traded places with a deer caught in the headlights, and no one would be the wiser. The only explanation for such a frightened aura was that her brother had already got to her, and perhaps told the girl more than she was ready for. Curse him. It was no more than she should have expected...
But it didn't help with the sudden rush of guilt.
To this fifteen year old... maybe even sixteen year old... Alfonz Jedynak was not a dangerous force that needed to be stepped cautiously around and observed from a distance. He was not a suspected -- perhaps even confirmed -- member of the enemy. He was a brother. Her flesh and blood. And if she understood the young man properly that night in the Hogs Head... the only active family she had. The one person she especially wanted to keep from emotional harm was this particular girl.
She feared that might no longer by a possibility.
The anxiety of that was carefully kept from her visage, the plains of her face schooled into nonchalance. As the ravenclaw entered the room, she closed the door softly behind her. The result left the Professor claustrophobic, realizing for the first time just how small the office really was, and how confined the two of them were in the finality of that singular motion. To lift the unease, Raynor might have reached for a goblet of pumpkin juice, just to give herself something to do, but since Celina declined the offer of refreshments, she resisted the urge. It was the aristocratic etiquette. Even one raised out of the classic setting for such "blood status" -- a despicable phrase -- such as herself, was still affected by it.
Not that anyone in their right minds would consider Raynor the personification of elegant. Dignified and graceful in her own rough-around-the-edges way perhaps, but never elegant.
"Please, take a seat -- if you wish." She added the later in to stress it as an offer instead of a command as that familiar phrase usually was. She motioned to one of the two chairs before the food covered desk.
After a moment's hesitation, the Headmistress herself took the chair adjacent to the one offered instead of her usual behind the desk. It would be beyond awkward for the poor girl to confer over the table of food.

She should have taken the food. Wasn’t it rude not to take what was offered? Especially, from someone in such a position of authority: Celina almost wondered what would have happened if her father had been there when she declined. The sudden overwhelming disgrace and worry of disrespect filled the girl with even more terror than before. She should have just taken the woman’s offer, but then again if she had eaten anything at that moment, Celina knew that her stomach wouldn’t have been able to keep it down.
Raynor shut the door softly, and yet Celina still jumped a bit, now realizing that she had absolutely nowhere to go. Celina would have whimpered a bit if her throat and mouth had not gone so dry all of a sudden, not to mention her tear ducts. Afraid to even clear her throat to help her saliva glands, Celina was glad when the Professor told…rather….requested for her to sit. Without nothing more than a small nod, Celina took the seat in front of her, and waited as the Professor sat in hers across from her.
For a minute, Celina closed her eyes again and tried her best to relax. Drew liked Raynor....had said that she was who he went to for help...and she seemed nice....right?…yet, she hadn’t talked to Drew since he had belittled her and said she needed toughening up without even knowing all of what had happened. He hadn't even been there! How could he be so rude and judgmental? Didn't he say that she was worth it? What was worth anymore? What was friendship even? First he was telling off Jax for hissing at her, pretending to be her friend...but only to have her believe him, even for a split second so that he could turn around and do the exact same thing that Jax was doing when the young girl was no longer around…why had everything changed so quickly? Just as fast as it had all started, it all ended….and then how horrible she had been as a friend...but it was her brother's life on the line....Shaw had said....what was she supposed to do.....it was her fault that Felicity….if her tear ducts hadn’t been so dry, Celina probably would have cried right then, but then again wouldn't that only show weakness in front of an authority? Not that she hadn't already done that...
She deserved everything that she was getting as punishment from the Professor…Celina opened her eyes, and sighed softly.
