Well, she was here at least. That was something she could say. She doubted that Professor Raynor could tell her what owls to take, could even help her at all with anything. Adults were no good most of the time. She hoped to be able to kill a couple birds with one stone. The last time she had met with Professor Raynor, nothing had really been accomplished. She was here now though, that was a start.
She passed back and forth in front of the door. She was early and she knew it. Although she would rather late than early be. Finally, biting down on her lip hard, she reached up and knocked on the door, still two minutes early. She would do this she could. She stood firm and waited for the door to open.

It was the little caboose that could all over again. She could resist the mustard. She could resist the mustard. She will resist the mustard. If Tamis had hated the sauce before, she would abhor it with all the more passion after these horrid nine months were over with.
The last and final Career Advice meeting was about to take place with one Lillian Tasando, the end of the line with the Ravenclaw Fifth Years. It was not exactly that the Professor did not wish to sit through these meetings, she loved that, but she was glad that the task was almost over.
Two minutes early, a knock resounded on her door and the Deputy sat back in her chair. She could resist the mustard.
"Come in, Miss Tasando," she called, knowing perfectly well that was who had to be on the opposite side of the door. Very punctual at the least.

Lily didn't want to come in though. She would if she must though. She knew it was what she had to do. There was still time to run. She was at least two minutes early. She could run and just fall and then say she had been in the hospital wing or something and that whoever it was that had knocked had just "ding-dong ditched."
But no, she musn't do that. She had responsibilities to fufill and things she had been trying to ask Professor Raynor for a while. She wondered though, if Professor Raynor could even tell her what classes she needed to take.
Sighing, she put her hand on the door knob and opened it. "How did you know it was me?" Was the first thing out of her mouth. Her face showing none of what she had been feeling outside, or at least, trying not to show it.

A rather successful effort it would appear, for Tamis Raynor not only had a knack for voiding her own face of emotion, but reading that of others as well. When the door opened to reveal Lily, she could tell nothing more than indifference with a touch of nervousness. But the latter was to be expected of course. Ravenclaws were studious creatures, bend on succeeding academically and that probably meant most were bent on the future. She had not been. But most had in her time.
"You do have an appointment, Miss Tasando, and as this is only two minutes shy of the actual time, it was an obvious guess," the schools clock reverberated throughout the school, "and now exactly on time."
Oblivious to the questions worrying at the girls brain or her extensive apprehension the Professor beckoned her forward, "Well, come Miss Tasando, you may take a seat. Unless... you want to hold the session from the doorway," she stated in a cheerful manner.

"No, no," Lily answered. "I'll sit. I have more than one thing to talk to you about today." And that was probably what worried her the most. She was not only here to talk about her career, but to talk about many other things as well.
She took a seat in the chair, and tucked her legs up under her, for that was the position in which she was most comfortable. She leaned back a bit nervously. "So, well, umm, how do we start this thing?"

More than one question, hmm? Well so much for wishing to end the last of the Career Counseling quickly and painlessly. That was not entirely fair to Lillian, true, but Tamis had sat through over a good fifteen of these horrid things by now. Ah well, she would not exchange the job for any other in the world.
"Well, Miss Tasando, I believe I begin by asking if you have any future careers in mind, and if not, any particular things that hold your fancy. You do not particularly have to be good at it, but have interest in it," the Head of House responded.
The Professor sipped at a cup of tea that she had previously poured. An entire pot still remained on the desk, along with a heaping plate of cookies, as there had been with all previous meetings.

"Well umm," Lily twisted her hands about. "What I want to do . . . isn't exactly the most conventional job for a witch. And . . .I'm not sure that you can exactly study for a job such as this. Or . . .that you'll even know what to tell me to take." She really didn't like this at all. Adults had never put her very much at ease.
But she was going to tell Professor Raynor, really she was. "Well you see I . . .um . . .I want to work with troubled teens, like a psychiatrist, for muggles or magical. I just want to help people in that way. Take my experiences and turn them into something good for someone else."
((If I can make it at least two paragraphs the whole way though can I have a cookie? lol))

((lol. You can have the whole batch.))
Well, to say the least, that had indeed been quite unexpected. Most fifth years came into her office wanting to be an auror, or a healer, or a curse-breaker, even an Oblivator or two. In her years as a Head of House, Professor Raynor could not quite say that she had heard of this occupation requested.
She did not know what she meant by experiences and the Deputy was not sure that she wanted to.
"Quite a unique career path, Miss Tasando, and you are quite right that I am not sure exactly what to recommend. However, the Law Enforcement Department does offer something such as this. Physiologists and lawyers for delinquent children, though I do not believe that is what you mean."

"I didn't think you would know." Lily said quietly. "Part of the reason I was so apprehensive about coming here today." She was quiet for a bit, running her fingers up and down the chair thinking to herself. Would the professor yell at her for having such thoughts as this?
"People, people my age need someone to talk to, someone they can trust. I want to be that someone. I want to show them that they can trust the world again. I want to help them when they have probelms, probelms up here," she tapped the side of her head. "I've actually been thinking about going to muggle school and getting a degree in it. But I don't know how that would work. If they would accept my transcript even. But it does seem like it would be a waste to my magical ability. Surely I am not the only witch or wizard whoever wanted to do such a thing like this? To be someone to help the hurting someones." She fell silent again.

The perusing silence was uncomfortable, to say the least. Lillian looked as if she expected Raynor to lunge up and eat her one the spot. Preposterous, but judging by some rumors she heard, not unbelievable by most of the student population. Apprehensive?
Face expressing sincere bewilderment, the Professor considered the girl before her for a long moment.
"Well, Miss Tasando, I am not going to scold you for such a career choice, if that is what you are waiting for. It is honorable enough, and whether it is a waste of your magical talent, well, I am afraid that is up for you to decide." Another pause. "There are quite a few witches and wizards whom have chosen such paths. The only courses I can suggest to you are Muggle Studies and Arithmancy, the former for obvious reasons and the latter as muggles seem to find such important. As for transcripts, Hogwarts and the Ministry can see to that, you can't very well put down Hogwarts, it would breech magical security."

"But professor," Lily said. "I haven't even taken muggle studies at all. I come from a muggle background so I thought that quite useless. Is it even possible to sit an owl in a class you have never taken? I think I would pass, there's no doubt about that. I'm a muggleborn you see professor, and it's not that I don't love my magic, it's just the way I was raised you see."
Lily sighed and closed her eyes. She felt so strange and abnormal. She didn't know if anyone requested a position such as this before, but yet they must have. She was positive she couldn't have been the only one. "And Professor," she said again. "If I choose a muggle career and to live in muggle society does that mean I have to give up my magic?"

Well that did present a problem, but then again if she was muggle born, maybe not. Professor Raynor, herself, was a pureblood, she did not understand muggles at all and automatically assumed everyone was the same way.
"You might not need the score then, Miss Tasando, if you can recall everything about muggle life. But you can sit the O.W.L if you wish, there is nothing saying you cannot, its usually just suicide for someone who has not taken the course they are testing in. However, you're case is an exception of sorts."
She had to think carefully, very, very carefully about the proposition Lily gave her. It was an iffy answer.
"In a way, Miss Tasando, yes. You will be allowed to keep your wand of course, but living among muggles, your magical uses will be very limited. You could only use some magic and only inside your house away from windows. The Ministry would go through it with you. You of course, would still be welcome in wizarding locations."

"So I'll have to sit the owl then?" Lily asked. "I'm fine with that and everything, but am I going to have to pass the NEWT and this is all so confusing and I should have stuck with something simpler, but no, but anyways I think I got it and I think I will sit the owl. It's not that hard. I mean muggle studies would just be like wizard study to you Professor."
"But anyways, moving on," Lily said quickly. If she was going to get anything accomplished she'd have to move quick. That and her writer keeps forgetting everything that Lily wants to ask Raynor about. "Professor, how would one go about changing their last name?"

Wizard study? What a preposterous concept. Why would one need to take a class on Wizard Study, to even have that available? It was unconceivable in the eyes of Tamis Raynor, however, the point was made.
"As I said, if you can pass it without the class, there are no rules against it, however, yes, it would be a good idea --"
She cut off as Lily turned gears, attacking another subject that came to mind. Change last name? Again, it was hard to resist the urge to inquiry further.
"Well, it is a simple legal process at the Ministry of Magic, I did it when I married Professor Gallaudet. Its a manner of a couple of official forms and a few mediocre procedures."

Lily nodded. "You wouldn't happen to be able to get me some of these forms would you?" She asked. "I'd much appreciate it. I want to go to my mum's maiden name and drop my dad's last name. I can't stand it that I have to carry his name." She said the word with disgust, as though it were dirty.
"And for another thing," Lily began. She had told the professor there was a lot she wanted to discuss. "You know I am emancipated right? Drew helped me last year. But anyways, if I am technically no longer under my parents, does that mean I can sign my own Hogsmeade permission form? Because I'd really like to go."
