A laugh escaped her at that. Had Drew come any more out of that seat of his, he would have been on the floor. The tea finished itself and settled in front of them. A tea presented itself to either occupant and the pot placed itself in the middle of the table, a few inches from the surface, all of the add-ons rushing out in their wake.
"Yes, Mr. Thornton, 'really'," she chuckled, "Corrion was on the force before I even entered training. Perhaps the year of, I can't remember. I fear I was always green in his eyes. Had a nickname from him that suggested such at least. But, he'll be more than happy to have you tail him, will have fun. You might not, but I daresay he will."
She shook her head. Now, how to break it to him that the rookie was calling in a favor? Aramis perhaps? The old bird still had spunk to him.

Drew grinned back, not quite sure any Auror would actually be 'more than happy' to have a fifteen year old kid tailing him. Still, the way she described him made the guy sound okay.
"Nickname, huh?" Drew asked as he settled back in his chair with his teacup. "This I gotta hear."

"Oh, no doubt you will," the Professor stated, a tad bit sour. But the sourness was not aimed at the student before her. "But I'll leave that up to Jacob to tell you. I rather hang onto my pride as long as possible."
The fact was, the nickname was not a horrid one. It was placed on most newcomers to the force. But when it had been continued to be used even after twelve years of service? When she had held a title as a senior auror? And to have callow greenies call her by it? Yes, there was to be a fair amount of payback there. All in due time.
"You two will get along nicely I think," she added mildly, taking a sip from her tea. Just as long as Corrion kept any embarrassing stories of her first year as an actual auror to himself that is.

"Nicely, huh?" Drew echoed, giving her a suspicious look. "One of us is going to drive the other nuts, aren't we?" he asked, having a pretty good idea who was expected to do the driving. Not that Drew would do it on purpose. It was just the nature of who he was. "So I'm kind of like payback for him messing with you, huh?" He was taking it with enough good humor if it was true.

That actually did provoke a laugh from Raynor. Oh, Corrion was going to be nowhere was pleased as she made it out that he was going to be. But yes, one way or another, he would agree. And was there a little bit of spite there over the nickname...?
"Well, I cannot say that revenge is not a very sweet thing, Drew," she replied informally, offering the boy a wink. Enough humor in her own voice to purpose the jest. "But he is the best."
Rubbing her chin in the cup between thumb and index finger, her laughter died down to a chuckle as she actually considered what he said.
"Oh, for sure. Heads may clash, but I assure you Jacob Corrion is a big teddy bear... deep, deep......... deep down."

"So he'll be cool with it if I just want to randomly hug him?" Drew asked with a serious face, but a slight sparkle in his eye. Drew was hardly the type to just hug strange people out of the blue (though he probably would have hugged Raynor at her offer of help had they not had the desk between them) and the way he was picturing this man, he doubted the affection would have been appreciated. Drew would probably end up cursed half way to Egypt if he tried.

"You could try," she said, "but he might be a little less than enthusiastic if you did." And that was putting it lightly. Though the mental image of such would have been amusing, if it had not been accompanied by the certainty of Drew being tossed into the Hospital Wing for it.
"I can meet with him later today. Perhaps after dinner." That would give her enough time to return to the baby and Banks. Do what mothers needed to do, feed Leah, make sure both husband and child were settled, and return for the meeting. Plenty of time, actually.
"If you wish, you can meet us here around that same time."

"Okay," Drew answered with an enthusiastic grin as he stood from his seat, feeling like this particular meeting was coming to a close. With any luck, he'd finally get to see some real Auror action. Well... aside from the couple of times he had disobeyed Raynor, snuck out of school, and followed her on a mission.
But it brought up another concern. He knew Raynor could be very pursuasive, but had really only seen her use those skills against students. There was that one time she fought to keep him from getting expelled, but other than that...
"But, what if he says no?" Drew asked, his smile faltering slightly at the possibility. And if Corrion were already faced with his charge, it would be harder to deny, but it would make the whole situation all that more tense. Drew knew the guy would probably not be that thrilled about having a tag-along. To be ganged up on might make it all the worse.

"If he says no?" She asked, considering the question and the slight falter of enthusiasm on the boys face. "It is doubtful that he will. Oh, he might be reluctant about it, but he would agree. If not for one reason, than for another." And that 'another' was a more political notion that she herself would make sure the man remembered, but no need to tell Drew that.
"I doubt he will say no. But, just to be on the safe side, lets not give him the chance to." She gave him a wink and pulled out a bottle of ink, a quill, and parchment. "I can write him the note now and he should be here around the previously mentioned time. I'll send you a patronus when we're ready for you, as I'm sure Aramis will be exhausted and a house elf is unconventional."
One might be amused at how a patronus seemed more unconventional than a house elf or other form of calling. But it was also give another edge against Corrion.

"Excellent. Thanks Professor Raynor," he said, relieved, excited, nervous, all mixed up in one emotion. His grin resurfaced and he backed his way towards the door, debating in his mind as to whether he should tell someone or keep it all to himself... kind of like a secret mission. Maybe he'd just tell Alhana. "I promise. I won't screw this up."

"I have every faith in you, Drew," The professor replied, dripping her quill into the ink bottle. She looked up at him when she said it so that he wouldn't be lured into believing it was just a meaningless farewell to the meeting.
"You will make a great auror one day, and Merlin knows we need them. Hogwarts hasn't produced any in years and those whom recently came on the job... well, not the best of the crops." Which was one of the reason she wanted to see him suceed... the only reason she would admit out loud anyhow.
Finally, as he started to back away, she arched an eyebrow at him. Expression set in the very familiar inquiry. "Well, off with you then. I'm sure you'll have to beat out some of that excitement before tonight."

Drew smiled back at her words. He took her compliments as well as her scoldings to heart, having learned a while ago that they weren't just empty words used to placate a silly kid. If she said it, she meant it and he would do everythin in his power not to let her down.
She shooed him off and his standard wide grin returned. "I"ll see you tonight Professor!" he answered back before running off to find Alhana.
