What's a better weapon than a wand? Nothing, eh? Well, Lauren would have to disagree. Held firmly in her left hand was a gun that wore the color of an obnoxiously bright green. It was cold, hard, erm, plastic? Yes, even better than a real gun - a water gun. Only problem with this was that she had been long out of amo. Dry.
In the armour gallery, for reasons Lauren can't explain, her weapon beat against the tin so that she could be entertained with the dull sounds made. And when the word beat is used, it means more that Lauren purposely brushed against the armour just so much that the plastic tickled the tin.
Amusement was slipping away from her, and now Lauren saw she was alone. Raising her left arm she made a constant beat on the armour. Ahh, the joys of music. Ha, if you want to call that music, I guess. Perhaps it was more entertaining with a song in your head, such as there was in Lauren's. Words past her lips as she lost herself in the beat.
Now, when using a muggle toy like a water gun, you shouldn't use it as an instrument. One, if you get caught in the act, you look stupid, and two, it's not what it's made for. But we live in a world of sin, so it's not the first time someone use an object in a way that it was not made for. In fact, it was pure improvisation. However, the suits of armour probably didn't enjoy being used as drums. But, then again, suits of armour don't have feelings, do they?

Daniel had barely even been at school a day and already he found himself so bored he could have duct taped himself to a wall. How he possibly found that entertaining was beyond the minds of many, but Daniel found it quite funny. Then again, he was easily influenced by the muggle movie/TV show called "Jackass", so that really explained everything.
Sauntering down the hall of the...second floor? Third? Merlin, he had no idea. He was just lost, but he'd wander out and find something he knew eventually. However, in the distance, Daniel heard something. It sounded like metal being hit, but he had no idea whatsoever of where it could possibly be coming from. He'd heard there were ghosts in the castle. Was it one of them? Daniel hoped so. That would just be so cool.
Unfortunately, when Daniel found the source of the noise it was nothing more than a red-headed girl banging on a suit of armour. The way he thought it in his head made it seem like no big deal, but the longer he watched, the more intrigued he became. There seemed to be a pattern to it all, but Daniel had no idea what the girl was thinking. So he leaned against the door frame and watched for a while before he mad himself known.
"You know," he called over the noise, "That gives a whole new meaning to 'heavy metal' music. Inventive, I must say."

sh--.
Lauren had been caught. Hmm, what to do. She could've just gone on like she hadn't heard. It was a logical explanation. Maybe give them that Slytherin attitude, or something like that. No, she couldn't keep that up for too long. She could just walk away. No, that's too much of a punk move. Lauren clutched her pathetic toy gun in both hands and found where the voice came from, point the gun at them.
Peaking over,
"Smart mouth." That was all she said. Of course she must have looked absolutely ridiculous, holding out a water gun in a threatening way. What was she to do, drown him, in the water that ran out long ago? Oh yeah, great plan. But for some reason, she stood there, much more enthusiastic than she had been in past months. Maybe it was the room, or the month, or something, but Lauren didn't know.
"I am creative. Genius, if you'd be so bold," the red-head gave him a look over. "Which you must be for walking in on my, erm, session." Finally she got tired of holding out the ruddy gun, and put it back down at her side, after giving the closest suit of armour a tink on the way back to her side.

Daniel couldn't help but laugh at her as she threatened him and he just went a long with it, holding his arms up as if really being held at gun-point. "Don't shoot," he joked, but the girl soon lowered it and he was no more a victim. Daniel flashed the girl a friendly smile and stepped a little closer, getting a better look at the red-head. He couldn't deny that she was pretty, and he was actually quite impressed. He'd never peg a girl that looked like that to be firing water guns and playing music on suits of armour. Cool.
"Well, genius" he started cheekily, crossing his arms in front of his body, "You could start a band and create a new music scene. Innovative. I liked it." Daniel chuckled again and got a little closer to her, tapping lightly on the suit nearest to him. Unfortunately, it seemed to be angered and jumped to life. With a quick flash, Daniel heard the creaking of metal and an arm swooped out and clocked him in the side of the head. It knocked him down, but he didn't even feel it. Oh joy. How was he going to explain this? Immediately, Daniel groaned and acted like it hurt. Over the years, he'd gotten quite good at faking it, rarely overplaying. He opened one eye cautiously to see her reaction. He knew he should have groaned earlier and if she was smart, she'd pick up on the delayed reaction. Crap.

Lauren wouldn't shoot, even if she'd have the chance. There were much better things she could do with a water gun at Hogwarts school. Lauren was not the prankster, not at all, but there were many at school. And like pranksters do, they retaliate. Most hate being challenged, and Lauren could've done much more productive things with that advantage.
"I could." Secret; Lauren can't carry a tune even if it placed itself in her arms and held on with all its might. And she was lucky to carry a beat, but she could head bang, oh boy, could she do that.
Perhaps it was her devilish good looks, but the suits of armour seemed to like her better. After all, they let her beat on them. In fact, they were probably too amused by the fact was using a water gun as a drum stick. However, the boy wasn't as lucky. Actually, he was in quite a predicament. But Lauren couldn't help that, and she wasn't bothered by the suit of armour. She found it somewhat amusing, to be straight forward. However, good first impressions aren't accomplished by laughing at someone's pain. So, Lauren merely hid her smirk.
When he went down, she grimaced. That wasn't good. But another millisecond longer and Lauren might have sworn he didn't even notice he got hit. Perhaps he was to distracted by Lauren's water gun, and forgot he got hit. Makes perfect sense, eh? But she overlooked it, actually she didn't. She gave him a short glare, but softened her features. Who was she to judge how he dealt with his pain. If it were Lauren, she probably be on the floor crying. But, factoring in that she was so bloody proud, she'd suck it up.
"You okay?" She asked blankly, extending her hand to him.

Daniel looked up when she heard the girl's voice again and saw her hand extended. His eyes were a little blurry, but that was about it. He reached out his hand and took hers, helping himself up. As he stood Daniel wobbled slightly. He guessed that meant he should be in pain and he automatically rubbing his head again. "Okay? Yeah I'm fin-- I mean...uhh," Daniel stuttered, "I guess I'm..uhh..okay."
Blowing it, you're blowing it! Daniel scolded himself. He should be better at this. He'd had years of practice, years of his parents telling him what should hurt, and now it was all going out the window because it had happened in front of a pretty girl. He was pathetic. Still, he tried to get back into it. "Didn't realize they like to spring to life like that," Daniel said with a chuckle, still rubbing the spot where he'd been hit, "Maybe we should, uhh...leave them."

Lauren only nodded.
It struck her as odd, that the boy seemed to not know whether or not he was hurt. Perhaps on a rare occasion that could happen. The pain was so great you couldn't recognize it and you had this numb tingling. But, she was just fishing here. I mean, it's rather an obvious thing as to whether or not you are hurt. Maybe it was just some macho pride thing, that he was putting on. A good portion of guys did that, especially in front of girls. They couldn't imagine being seen as weak, but whatever it was, Lauren wasn't the one with the problem.
Truth be told, Lauren didn't know they sprung to life either. So for her to beat on one of them again, after that display, would be o so foolish. Honestly, she was somewhat spooked and in helping up the boy, she manage to slide farther over away from the line of metal suits. It would be tragic to walk into the Hospital Wing, if she could manage, and say she got beat up by a hunk of metal. Embarrassing?, yes.
"Yeah, some of them do that. Probably hit it in the wrong spot or something," she tried to act as if she knew what she was talking about, though she had no clue. And Lauren had no problem with leaving the suits of armour and perhaps enjoying a view of the weapons they used, the ones that were safely locked away in cases. "A little blow to the head, and you are ready to leave?"
Well, that sounded meaner aloud than it did in her head. Perhaps she should offer to rephrase that. No, with her luck, her stash of wit would be as dry as her water gun and she'd end up rambling like a loon. She'd prefer otherwise. Tucking her long hair behind her ears, Lauren took off past the long line of armour, only assuming that he followed.
"The name's Lauren, if you were ever to wonder," she said glancing back, and rolling the small plastic form between her fingers. Not very smooth, and many times she nearly lost it, but she was in front of him, so he didn't notice, right?

"A little blow?" he repeated, "It knocked me down. I doubt that's a little blow." Daniel chuckled and tried to act normal. Had he overplayed it again? Oh hell, he probably had, but whatever. She didn't really seem to concerned about it anyways, so it didn't really matter. Soon after however, the girl started to leave and Daniel followed obediently. He chuckled as she introduced himself, and he realized that it had been quite rude of him to not do so before.
"Apologies," he said, walking along behind her and following the blaze of red hair out of the sea of armour, "I'm Daniel. Fifth year Slytherin. And yourself?"

"Aah, Slytherin." Lauren repeated the house name. Being Slytherin as well, she was somewhat pleased. It had been a long while since they'd gotten a new Slytherin, or at least one that showed their face. Anyway, Slytherin wasn't what it used to be. It was much smaller and the personalities seemed to have changed. One thing that people recognized Slytherin for was Reina, though Lauren hadn't seen her in a while.
Lauren hadn't seen most of her friends in a while, not saying that Reina was her friend. She had seen Ash a bit over break, but nothing to excessive. She hadn't received an owl from Noah in a while, and this somewhat saddened her. She hated him for leaving to Beauxbatons, and she had to gain more friends, now.
"Well, since we are being formal, Slytherin fourth year. I haven't seen you around the common room, so you must be new, eh? I've been living in the common room lately, unfortunately." Lauren admitted, which wasn't something she needed to do.

"Yeah, pretty new," Daniel agreed, "I just arrived yesterday, actually. Already found my way to the kitchens, but that's about it." They were almost at the door now and the new Slytherin looked over his shoulder at the suits of armour. The one that hit him was standing still once again, but its arm moved slightly and it's hand waved at him. Daniel stopped in his tracks and looked at it. He blinked quickly and it was perfectly still again. Weird.
Continuing with the conversation, Daniel was intrigued by why she'd been in the Common Room so much. "Any reason why you've taken refuge in the Common Room lately?" he inquired curiously.
(Sorry these are getting shorter every time. I'm runnin out of ideas)

"Well, it's pretty easy to get settled in, I must say." A pause. "People here are boringly predictable. When someone new comes, they greet them happily and warmly. But when you get settled in, most likely, you won't ever talk to that person again, unless you are lucky or amoung those rare few. You can make a lot of acquaintances here, if that's what you are looking for. Good luck with friends."
Probably not the most encouraging thing to say, but Lauren was speaking from experience. The one and first friend she had, she lost touch with for reasons she didn't know. Then she sort of started over in the friend department and became good friends with someone who transferred over to Beauxbatons, and another who was having family trouble and she hadn't seen in a while. And then, like she had said, she had made quite a few acquaintances, and one sort of enemy. Maybe two, but who knows.
"No," Lauren said coldly. She didn't mean to, but that's just how it came out. Of course, Lauren had a hunch why she did. Perhaps it was because she had been semi depressed lately. She didn't exactly have a good break. Then again, perhaps she just missed the common room over break. "You ought to stay there sometime, it's rather exciting," slight sarcasm rang in her voice, but she tried to hide it.
Now, she assumed she was safe from the armour that had not attacked her, and took her toy gun and began tapping on the wall. Never in her life had she ever witnessed a wall coming to life and attacking.

Well, this was a cheerful conversation so far. Not only had Daniel been cracked in the head by an enraged suit of armour, but he was not being told that he wouldn't make any friends and that he should stay in the Common Room. Maybe Hogwarts wasn't the dream paradise he had hoped. He though that maybe, just maybe, he'd actually make a friend or two that didn't run at the sight of him or call him a freak for what he was. But now Lauren was confidently squashing the last bit of hope right out of him. Perhaps the Common Room was the best place to be.
"Oh," he said, slightly downtrodden now, "Well then. It would appear I've overstayed my welcome in your presence, princess." Now it was Daniel's turn to be sarcastic. He nodded to Lauren and then turned and began to walk in the opposite direction. "Have fun with your music!" he called over his shoulder, but then muttered only to himself, "Bloody Slytherin." OK, so what. He was in Slytherin too, but that didn't mean he was like that as well.

Princess? Lauren had been challenged, and not only that, she hated being called something that was not her name. She barely allowed Noah to call her Stone, because it was her last name. She couldn't help it if she was telling him the truth, and it wasn't like it was her fault. Hey, he was a wimp if he couldn't take it. It's not that big of a deal, really. Lauren didn't say he was some loon whose dreams of surviving at the school made him an even bigger loon. No. She was reflecting on how she settled in. Granted, she wasn't that perky on the subject.
Perhaps she was being rude.
"Hey," she called after him. "I'm sorry," she grimaced at the words. "I was just reflecting on how I settled in okay. Just chill," Lauren took a breath, trying to think of something to say. "You know, it is rather fun. You should try," she said in a brighter tone, holding out her water gun. "We could get you one with water in it, and just jam, eh?"

Oh how he regretted that, mere seconds after the words were out of his mouth. Princess? He was a moron. A dead moron at that. Hell hath no fury on a Slytherin called 'princess'. Daniel sighed and turned around as he heard her call for him, and she actually apologized. That was not what he had expected. Still, he turned swiftly and walked back towards her, leaning against the wall as he stopped and spoke.
"Where are we supposed to get another one?" he asked casually, ignoring the fact that they had been bickering moments before. It was just easier.

Was he ignoring her apology. Oh Merlin knows that Lauren hated that. It was hard enough for Lauren to apologize, just to protect someone's feelings. Honestly, some people just needed to toughen up in someways. But to have it ignored, was beyond what Lauren could comprehend. Couldn't he have acknowledged that he had overreacted, because it was clear he had. He was being a moody teenage boy, that was all. Lauren should put him out of his misery, and stash him away in the of the suits of armour. Well, now maybe she was overreacting.
He was probably just trying to ignore tension, or whatever.
"How should I know? It's not my fault you've been cursed without the privilege of having a water gun. Such lovely muggle objects are hard to come by. You don't expect me to just pull them out of my magic hat do you?" To tell whether Lauren was being smart, sarcastic, rude, or just hardheaded was difficult to tell. It was a perfect blend a vague emotion.
She held out her gun,
"Let's see what you got."
