Before she had gotten a chance to pull out her books for the class, the professor was already next to her. She abandoned reaching for her parchment to look up at the man, who seemed friendly enough. He asked for her name, which took her a few seconds to register with her. Her mind was still on the half-man, half-horse that had given her quite a scare. "Um... Izzy," she responded. "Huntington." She wasn't too fond of her full name, so she always opted to be called Izzy. Even her parents called her by her nickname. The only time Isabella was used was when she was in trouble. Which wasn't too often, but it did happen occasionally.
Izzy was silent as she listened to the professor explain that the figure that had raced around the room had been a projection. That did little to comfort her, as it wasn't so much the creature itself that had surprised her, but because she hadn't been expecting it. However, she didn't tell him that and instead continued to listen to what he had to say. He handed her a worksheet that was filled with notes, and then sat down in the desk next to her. He mentioned the projection of the giant wars, which Izzy didn't quite realize were actually Giant wars, until she looked at the projection and saw actual Giants. Both of her eyebrows raised as she watched the wild creatures fighting.
And then he gave her a choice - sit with him over on one side of the room, or join the rest of the class, all of which were second years, on the other side. She knew that he had good intentions and was only trying to make her feel more comfortable, but how old did he think she was? Six? Izzy wasn't afraid of the second years.
"I'll sit with the others," she said, grabbing her bag and slowly standing up. "I can handle it."
Then he mentioned the house points, which she had forgotten about sometime during the overload of information she had gotten from the professor. She let out a sigh of relief, thankful that he wasn't going to take any housepoints from her. "Thanks," she said gratefully, then added, "I'm sorry about the tardiness. I thought that I was on time."

Oh, Hannah had questions all right, but they weren't about what they were actually learning. Okay, so she had some, but most were about those tomes. The Ravenclaw girl thought that they were some really cool form of magic, she was fascinated by the smoke moving centaurs and giants and the different smoke, and she so wanted one of those tome things.
Hannah saw the new Gryffindor walk in and she was surprised they were actually combined with the first years. The young Ravenclaw wasn't too happy about that, but Hannah gave the new firstie a smile, remembering what it was like for her as a first year. Lost, confused, but even as a second year, she was still lost and plenty confused. Giving her head a quick shake to get her out of the past, Hannah concentrated on the future... er, past that was going around the room.
"Professor? How did you actually recreate the past into those tome things?" Hannah inquired, thinking it must be incredibly advanced magic. The young Ravenclaw knew that they were supposed to be learning about the History of Magic, but she didn't think she could until she knew how the past got into those little things.

Alex smiled at Izzy "Alright Izzy" he said, standing up as well. He then walked over to his table and added "It's alright Izzy, atleast you came and didn't skip the lesson" he then picked up a rather small tome. Alex then walked over to Hannah and said "Well... if you really want to know, I can give you this empty projection tome. If you look closely at my tomes there, you'll see words. We make then come to life through smoke illusions, it takes a lot of time and a few potions and wand waving here and there. Now this little book is already made as one, I have ten of these empty little books and I will give each one of you and teach you how to use it. You can do all sorts of things with these" he said.
Alex then waved his wand and the Giant's continued fighting, then he vanished the smoke centaurs. "The tome will only go for a few minutes more and by the time it's finished you'll know everything about Giants, both tomes only last 15 minutes or so. I have plenty of time to teach you how to use the projector journals" he said, then he sat back down and then he started chaning the journal's color to think of something that Hannah would like. He hadn't done this in a while and he was finding it fun, "You guys taught me more than what I can teach you" he muttered. These students have made him like teaching again, he was greatful for that.

Hannah heard the words the Professor had muttered and began to wonder what he meant by it. The young Raven couldn't really see how she had taught the Professor anything, she was just excited about those projection tome things. It was the first time the girl's brown eyes had ever came across something like that, and she was eager to learn all about them. While Hannah knew that she was there for History of Magic, those tome things were just more interesting to her.
Watching the smoke illusions fight about, the girl was taking it in only slightly, figuring that the Giants had fought with the Centaurs way back when she wasn't alive. The only thing was, Hannah couldn't figure out which side won, but she figured the centaurs would, only because they were smarter and had better magic than what the giants held. It was only then Hannah realized she was actually learning something in her History of Magic class, besides on how to make a mess of her life.
Hannah's brown eyes grew wide as the Professor came over to her, and offered her one of those projector tomes for her own. "Really?" Hannah asked the Professor, feeling like she was being singled out, but really wanting one of those tomes things. "You won't mind?" Brown eyes looking up to the Professor and then over to his own Projector tomes things that held the History lesson. Sure enough, Hannah could make out the writing on them. Hannah looked back to the Professor, listening on how to make the little books come to life, the young Ravenclaw was itching to try it out for herself.

"Nah," Brenton answered just as the new professor followed in answering. The Princess couldn't ever be late, nothing ever started until a Princess was ready anyway. That's what it said in his book at least and he believed it. Nothing important ever happened unless the Princess was present, and Cinderella was only kind of a fluke. She wasn't a Princess when the balls started, she was still a servant-like girl so the balls could begin without her.
"Brenton Douglas," the Slytherin kid answered when the Professor asked for their names. He had no problems telling the professor, just trolls like Jeremy's cousin. Trying to eat fairies and make Brenton believe that all he was doing was trying to hang lights. Like he didn't know the different between a fairy and a light.
Turning his attention to see what the professor was talking about, he realized he had no idea, whatsoever. Brenton couldn't make out the figures very well without his glasses and there was no way he was breaking them out. Princes didn't wear glasses and he wasn't going to humiliate himself in class because of it. He'd just read about the... Giant Wars? Was that what they were learning about? He thought so. He'd read about them later.
Seeing the redheaded Gryffindor, Brenton smiled at her and waved her over to where he was sitting. There was still a seat on his side and Hannah was on Jeremy's other side. There was room for her too. Besides, she seemed alright when they'd met in the library. And he noticed Hannah seemed awfully excited and happy, at least someone was.

Maddy didn't really know what to expect with her lesson. With a new professor, of which Maddy didn't really know, she was slightly scared, as she wanted to make sure she was on the good side of him, and he didn't hate her for all of eternity. The young girl got herself ready slightly earlier, as to avoid being late, but there was nothing the girl could really do, once Bindi decided to get into a fight with who knows what. Her kitten was covered in scratches, but they were basically invisible, as to the mud that was all over the cat's back and stomach..
Straight away, the girl had run a bath for her kitty-cat, as Maddy nicknamed it. She put Bindi down into the bath, but of course, the hot water stung at the cats wounds, leaving her agitated and fidgety, and there was no way that the cat wasn't going to put up a fight. Finally finishing bathing her cat, she smiled, as she held a wet cloth to her neck, as the cat had struck Maddy on her neck. There was four red lines going down her neck, one for each of the claws on her cats left hand.
"Ouch." She said, making her way up to the second floor, and entering her History of Magic class. "Am I late Professor? If so, I apologize, as there was a bit of a dilemma." Maddy told, motioning to her neck. "Oh um, Maddy Cross." She said, taking her seat next to Jethro Stevens, her best friend in the school. "Hi." She whispered, making sure no one noticed her do so. She really didn't want to be too late, but sometimes there was nothing that she could do about it.

Alex smiled at Hannah "OFcourse I don't mind, I've got plenty of them and I'm actually planning on giving them to each one of you" he said, Alex then looked at the door as another student came in. He just smiled at her and then watched the projection, it was close to finishing. Alex stood up as the smoke started to vanish, "Now children, that was the end of Giant wars. As you see, by the end of it, only one leader and a few Giants were left. That is the reason Giants are scarce now a days. They kill eachother off" he explained, standing in the middle to where the tome still lay open.
Alex crouched down and closed the tome, then he opened the other one and it now showed moving projections of wizards agreeing on the plans about the statue of magical secrecy, on the sidelines there are figures of goblins rebelling. Alex stood up and put the tome on the table, then he conjured a chair beside hannah's chair and he sat there. "on the side there, you see the goblin rebellion and there, the wizard government are planning on the making of the statue. This projection will end at the finish of muggle persecution, and the building of the statue. It is short and after that, I will teach you how to use these projestion journals. They don't make this big images, just enough to fit the little journals." he said, showing then the baby blue journal and then putting it down infront of Hannah. Alex then winked at her and whispered "That's for you" he then turned to the projection and watched along with his students.

Whatever Sydney had been expecting, it definitely wasn't this. Professor Griffiths seemed to be at ease among the various students. Sydney wondered what else she could expect from this class. The projection was still on, and it fascinated Sydney. She had definitely expected this class to be one of the most boring lessons on the term. Who really could make history interesting? Well it seemed that the Headmistress had known what she was doing when she'd hired Professor Griffiths. At least he wouldn't be boring them with lectures. Sydney glanced at her classmates. She saw a few faces, but she really didn't remember the names that went with them. Hopefully, throughout this term, she'd remember the names of her classmates.

Jeremy was still confused, so he opened his book and tired to follow along. He sure didn't want to take one of those projection things from the professor. Just his luck, he'd need to cast a spell to work it properly and then the man would know for sure that he wasn't a real wizard but only a halfer. Jeremy let out another cough and added a sneeze just for good measure, all the while eying the professor cautiously as he took a seat next to Hannah. Jeremy really didn't want that vampire to get her either.

Alex smiled at the students and watched the projection, then he thought of an idea. He then tapped Hannah's journal and winked at her, "All you have to do now is write and the projections will show, be creative about it hannah" he said. Alex then stood up and tapped each of the books after he changed there colors to green and silver, red and black, yellow, pink and black and so on.
He then took a stack of them and started distributing it, he gave one to sydney, one to izzy, one to brenton, one to maddison, and one to everyone of his students. "All you have to do there si write it and then after you finished writing the projections will show, it will stop short to where you finished writing though. It is easy to rewind, these small versions just need a small tap and say your name, and it is rewinded." he said, then he put the remaining one's back to his desk and returned to his seat beside Hannah and turned to watch the projection again. "Have fun with those kids" he said, smiling. He was still looking at the projection though.

There was definitely no excuse for walking in right now, other than the twins just really hadn’t thought of the time when they were getting ready for class. The showers didn’t seem made for two people…let alone a pair of legs with two upper bodies. Then the stairs from the dungeons liked to bite it seemed, and they were only going up to the first floor? Oh, dear Merlin. Chandra knew they were in really big trouble and almost wondered if skipping the class would have been better. Selene was all up for that, but Chandra felt guilty every time Selene thought something was a good idea. She couldn’t help it. Her sister never thought anything productive was a good idea…so Chandra knew they had to go.
“Here’s the door…” Chandra said, gulping ever so slightly. They were in so much trouble. Selene rolled her eyes and sighed. “What? Don’t you think we’re in trouble?” She asked her sister softly as to not be heard from the other side of the door.

Selene was annoyed. They had had a rough start and now, of all things, they had to go to class on the first floor and they couldn’t even make it on time to that one. Just peachy. “Oh, yes. I think we’re in loads of trouble,” Selene said but then smirked. Chandra knew that smirk and again, she gulped. “But sis…look at us?” Selene gestured to their body and two legs, their four arms, and two heads and snorted. “We’ll pull the ‘we’re disabled’ card. Works every time…remember?” She was sure it would work again, for it wasn’t a complete lie. Chandra hated it, but at this point she nodded her head and the two of them began to walk in.
As Selene let Chandra lead them into the classroom this time, their sway was a bit more noticeable than normal and both Selene tried to put the most uncomfortable face on her expression as possible. Sure, the stairs were killers just in general, but for their class only being on the first floor…this was a tad over exaggerated.
Both girls smiled sweetly at the professor, still making it seem as though it was forced through pain and as Chandra looked for a place to sit, Selene kept her eyes on the professor. “Sorry, prof. We underestimated the amount of time it would take us to climb all the way up here from the dungeons.” Again she smiled sweetly, though even more so it was forced than before. Selene wasn’t sweet.
As she felt her body being lead somewhere and when she looked, Chandra was making them take the seat next to a girl (Sydney) whom had helped them just days before from a fall they had had in the swampy mess some older students had made. Selene didn’t care where they sat, and it wasn’t as if she was the one sitting next to the other girl, Chandra’s half was. Selene propped her elbows up on the desk and rested her head in her hands. At least they had gotten to class…

Alex looked amused at the acting sisters "You two are conjoined, not forced to be joined twins. Drop the act you two, I don't give detention or take away house points" he said, shaking his head a bit. Alex then took two identical pink and black journal, he walked over to the twins and gave them the journals. "PRojection journals, I've already activated the charm, all you have to do is write at it and watch the ptojections, when you want to rewind it... just tap it with your wand and say your name. Here, so it won't be too difficult to know which one's which" he said, he tapped the journals and each of the twin's names were written across Each journal. "Watch the projection, that's all we're doing. After this, I'll allow you guys some fun" he said.
Alex then looked at the tome and saw that the wizards have already finished building the statue, Alex smiled and closed the tome. He then picked it up and put it on his desk, then he took his notes. "According to my notes, your supposed to get an assignemnt... Sadly, I didn't make one. Never liked to give Assignments at the first lesson, I'll leave the assignment giving next lesson" he said, winking at his students. "So... After the rather amusing entrance of the conjoined 1st year twins, let's move on to other things" he said, then he threw the botes to his table. "Time to have fun" he added, walking over to the middle. "I'd rather want to see how you guys do with those journals, if you'll make them into your own story book or something else. If you guys can do it good, I'll show you something far beyond first years and second years" he said, winking at them.
Alex then walked over to his bag and took out a black journal, then he opened it to a random song and his voice filled the air with projections of when he was young with his friends, his sister and with Annemarie. "A song called angel's wings, this is the affect when you write a song" he said, then he tapped it and said "XAnder" the projection stopped and the book closed. He then showed them the exampled of a poem, which recited the poem and another of his memories, a story, which was narrated by his own voice and showed the characters which were drawn to the side of it, then lastly his life story or to others a daily journal, it turned into him and what he's been doing in that particular date and time. "Now, you've seen it, you can now start" he said, he rewinded the journal and closed it. Alex then placed it back in his bag and sat on his desk, looking at the students.

"So it's like tuned in to us, these journal things." Sydney said, as she sat with hers, opened in front of her. If anything this was an interesting approach to class. Syd had observed the bizarre little example Professor Griffiths had provided. "Giant Wars." she stated, and watched as the projection in front of her, the smoke billowed, and two large clouds rose up. The colors, as was stated before represented the different tribes. Sydney watched, and scribbled down some notes. Then she closed the journal, and opened it again to the first page. The moment the page had been opened the projection rose once more. The differently colored clouds of smoke swayed and tottered, as if bickering back and forth. "Cool." and Sydney smiled warmly, for the first time since entering this strange classroom.
"Can we keep these?" she asked. Not sure if they'd need to be handed in at the end of each class. Sydney glanced back at the projection, and she squinted. The smoke seemed to be swirling with something. It looked like dates, and names. Sydney's brown eyes widened, and she began to write down the names and dates that swirled. Apparently the journal was informative as well. With each date that Sydney wrote, a smaller projection appeared, portraying similar events during that period. You know with the visual projections, these historical dates seemed to take on more meaning and importance.

Post by Christian Nagle on Apr 29, 2008 23:03:35 GMT -5
Chris had a one track mind at the moment. He'd crept into the classroom some time ago and witnessed all the splendiforous projectionage from Professor Griffith's journal. Now, as he sat with his own, he thought about all the Quidditch World Cups he had missed by being so inconveniently unborn at the time of their playing. He also pondered, wickedly, conjuring the reconstruction of the night, at Godric's Hollow, when Harry Potter ceased to be an infant and became The Boy Who Lived not to see it happen, but to see what Lord Voldemort looked like. The history books never showed an adequate picture.
Opening the journal, Chris whispered, "The Boy Who Lived" loud enough for the journal to hear him, soft enough to go somewhat undetected. Smoke rose from the journal and through the mist, Chris found himself watching the accelerated growth cycles of Harry Potter, from infant to muggle-clad child; from angsty teenager (in his mighty house, mind you!) to handsome seventh year; from delighted father to middle-aged wizard, wisened by years of experience beyond reckoning. The cycles repeated themselves until Chris figured he'd conjured the wrong (to his want) words. He closed the book and thought of something better to say. Opening it, the smoke still swirled thought the images were slightly blurred, Chris whispered again, "The night Lilly and James Potter died". The mist grew dark, thunder sounded, and an eerily lit house sprung up. There was a cast-iron gate containing an untamed lawn and a walkway. The knocker on the door was a lion's head, mouth opened in a roar of triumph. Through the upstairs window, Chris could see the image of a woman placing a baby in a bassinet. The words that swirled up into the mist, above the window, stated the hour and the inscription Lilly Potter Puts Son {Harold} To Bed. Chris smiled to himself, excited by this recreation. A light came on in the window downstairs, lighting the walkway, and the figure of a man appeared, looking out the window into the sky. Words swirled up from the window, once more giving the time and the inscription James Potter Is Spotted By Sirius Black. Chris frowned. Hadn't Black been pardoned of the charges?
Maybe not. The words vanished and the hair on the back of Chris' neck prickled as he caught the subtle movement in the street outside the gate. More time-telling and words: You-Know-Who Arrives At The Potter Residence, Godric's Hollow. Suddenly a green flash, like the flicker of a firefly, shot from the darkness and through the downstairs window. The words read: James Potter Is Murdered. Chris felt something swell up inside him, an invisible lump forming in his throat. He watched as the gate opened, as if by itself, and he looked to the upstairs window, where the light had come on again. He heard a woman's voice and the slamming of a door.
The words: Lilly Potter Locks Son's {Harold} Room Door.
Chris felt the anxiety of the moment fill him with an icy cold breath, gripping. He didn't want Lilly to die. He felt as if he were in the moment as it happened originally. The front door burst open.
You-Know-Who Breaks Into Potter Residence, Godric's Hollow
Chris heard the echoing footsteps on the stairs within the miniature house. He felt the classroom around him melt away into fog and gloom. The upstairs door burst open; mini-Lilly Potter screamed.
You-Know-Who Breaks Into Son {Harold} Potter's Room, Potter Residence, Godric's Hollow.
A flash of green light, similar to the one earlier.
Lilly Potter Is Murdered.
The smoke swirled, thunder crashing through the projection. Chris wondered why it didn't end there. Then he remembered he had asked for the night James and Lilly Potter died, not for the deaths of James and Lilly Potter. Another flash of green and a bloodcurdling scream that echoed long after it had ended.
Harold Potter Survives The Killing Curse
You-Know-Who Is Vanquished
After the second inscription, Chris muttered to himself "What a load of bullocks that statement turned out to be." and with that, he closed the journal, trying to think happier thoughts.
