Perhaps the most curious thing the 5th year's had ever seen sat upon their tables today. Upon every desk in the history of magic classroom sat an apple. Just an ordinary, everyday apple. All a nice golden red colour. It was enough to remind any (if they knew the story of course) of Snow White and the seven dwarves and perhaps stir up thoughts of a 'poisened apple'. Upon the black board these words were written: Yellow djinn with opal eyes, I call thee by thy proper name, And to this apple in my hand, I bind thee to the same! Marvin himself sat upon his desk at the front of the room. Upon his head sat a hat that looked like a turban crossed with a mexican sombrero. It had the round part of the turban but the point of a mexiscan hat and at the front was a large jewel stuck to the bottum of a blue feather. Upon the walls of the classroom hung large carpets and on small spindle legged tables stood exotic vases, all enchanted with a non breakable charm by Marvin himself. He knew what students were like. The door was wide open and Marvin happily awaited his 5th year class.

Cellina was the first to enter. History of Magic was one of her least favorite classes. Being the fact that she rarely raised her hand, nor did she ever volunteer herself for anything, she almost dreaded being the first one in the class. Why point herself out to Professor Atwood. Quietly she walked in saying a quick and soft 'Hello' before scattering over to a table in the back of the classroom. On the desks were apples, and because she had unintentionally skipped breakfast it almost looked good enough to eat. She refrained, however. Seeing the effects of eating anything in one of these classes many times before she just let her tummy grumble, hoping that she'd be able to make it to lunch.

Ash made her way to History of Magic a few moments after Celina had. She glanced around curiously, "Eh? No Jack Roarbitz around, that's a surprise.." He usually was the first to make it to class, but it seemed Celina had done his job today. She waved to Professor Atwood, a rather nutty professor, and smiled. She never understood the man but he did make History of Magic a whole lot entertaining than it was meant to be.
"Yellow djinn with opal eyes, I call thee by thy proper name, and to this apple in my hand, I bind thee to the same..." Ash mumbled to herself as she took a seat next to the only other student in the room. "Wonder what that's supposed to mean.."

Ash had taken a seat next to Celina. Celina didn't mind. It looked as if events from nights ago might have actually worked in her favor when it came to making a friend afterall. No help from Drew of course, Celina thought as she rolled her eyes at the thought of the boy. She still just was not sure how to deal with him in regular circumstanes and other than the occasional comment that he or she had made toward one another, they had mainly been keeping away from one another.
"Wonder what that's supposed to mean..."
Celina had been pondering that as well, as if to take her mind off of eating the delictable apple that sat in front of her and the Ravenclaw House just in general for a while. "I'm not sure," Celina said. "I've been trying to figure that out as well."

Anna entered the history of magic classroom to find not only apples on everyone's desk but their crazy professor in another one of his costumes. However she wasn't in the mood to asking why he was wearing it. Is that some kind of incantation on the board? the gryffie thought looking from the board to the apple.
"So I'm guessing we don't eat the apples?" Anna said taking a seat.

Again, hyper and happy, Felicity rambunctiously entered the room at a pace that would have rivaled that of a greyhound. No, she wasn't necessarily looking forward to the class, but at least she didn't need a wand in this one. No wand meant a good time, or at least the brown-eyed Gryffindor hoped that's what it meant. Allowing her eyes to drift over the items in the room, they paused on the apples.
So hungry, she thought to herself. While she had eaten a lovely meal not only an hour before, the sight of food made her hunger persist, even in the fruit was mysteriously added to each desk. Having caught the Gryffindor's comment though, she shot down the thought of actually eating one. Now that she thought about it, each one looked a lot like the one from the muggle cartoon her nieces liked to watch so much.
"You know Professor," she started not really having learned the man's name as of yet, a grin teasing her lips. "Students are the ones that are supposed to give the teacher apples, not the other way around." Felicity chose her seat next to the Ravenclaw she hadn't a name to, but surely wasn't the crazy one.

Rebecca walked into the classroom. She looked around. Apples on desks , vases on tables and an odd riddle on the black board. Rebecca wasn't even going to attempt to comprehend it. Riddles made her head hurt. Rebecca wondered whether or not she should sit down. Perhaps the desk was for the apple. Everyone else seemed fine but in a magical school nothing is what it seems. Rebecca had a fear that the moment she sat down the apple would try to bite her. Rebecca picked up the apple carefully and examined it. It seemed to be an ordinary apple. No teeth , no odd magical symbols carved into it's flesh. Still there was that riddle on the board about eyes and binding. Rebecca wasn't entirely sure she trusted this apple. She must of looked like a real idiot standing up , staring at an apple. Suddenly Rebecca had an incredible impulse to throw the apple at the black board. Rebecca mistook this for some evil charm and hastily placed the apple back on the table.

Marvin smiled around at the class so far, he had watched every one of the students walk in and thought it was interesting that so far, there were only girls in the classroom. He had heard the murmering of the words on the board and the curious questions of what the words meant through out the girls but Marvin didn't show any sign that he had heard them talking he just sat and waited calmly upon his desk. He even chose not to answer the question about eating the apple. However his grin grew a little wider as he had heard it.
It wasn't until a perky, happy gryffindor spoke up that Marvin made any sign of being able to hear them. He picked up on the teasing note in her tone and turned to look at her as she spoke. He sat and smiled at her for a moment, he knew he hadn't met her before, she must have been a new transfer. However a quick glance to the list that sat next to him crossing names off itself when the students entered told him her name. "Ah but miss Hjort" Marvin said with a smile to the gryffindor "If you had ever been to one of my classes you would notice that things here are generally not how they would normally be" Marvin gave the girl a smile and a wink and returned to stairing at the door. However in his periphial vision he was watching the students. He enjoyed watching the confusion of finding something they didn't understand and how superstiscious some got over such things.

Smiling back, she decided she might actually enjoy the man's class. If things in the class were not how they generally were supposed to be, that spelled out interesting, even in a history course; and he had to be an interesting person himself, especially feeling comfortable to wear such a hat. However, time would tell on that as she hadn't had a class with the man. Leaving her backpack to rest on the floor, completely untouched, she turned her attention to the apple in front of her. Why was it she had to be hungry when there was food in front of her?
Glancing sideways at the Ravenclaw girls, she wondered if either of them would warn her beforehand about something drastic happening if she were to succumb to her hunger. Picking the apple off the desk, she rolled it around in her hands. It was a very nice apple, rich in color, smooth in texture. If only she knew enough not to eat something that was offered in front of her from the wizarding world, she would have sunk her pearly-whites into the fruit.
Not putting the piece of fruit down, she continued to roll it in her hands, thinking. What harm could really come from eating an apple, after all the cartoon was a fairytale, not real life. But then again the one who offered the apple was an evil witch, not that Felicity thought her professor was evil, but he could still perform magic.

Nico honestly couldn't remember the last time he'd eaten. To be frank he hadn't even realized how hungry he was until he'd spotted all the jucy, ripe, red apples on all the desks. Licking his lips he heard his stomach give a loud grumble of protest at its lack of contents. Not only did he feel starved but his clothes and hair were in disarray, his hair standing at odd ends here and there atop his head.
His eyes fixed pointedly on a rather large and plump red apple he didn't even notice the writing on the board or the fact that the class was in fact not empty. Finding his way to the desk he picked up the apple and took one good bite out of it causing a rather loud crunch. With a statisfied smile playing on his lips he sat in his seat. Content with his companion. Said apple.

He was glad he was in this class. It was his second favorite. Cool enough that his professor was his Head of House. He walked in with a smile as always. "Hello, professor," he said as he walked by. Reading what everything said around the classroom he looked about the black board again to see what was written. All of sudden, he was hungry. He heard his stomach growling. It was pretty loud but hopefully no one heard it.

She couldn't help the surprise that had come to her face at all the apples on all the desks. She wasn't sure what the professor was up to but considering who he was he had to be up to no good. "Hey Everyone," Verina said to the whole class as a whole since their were quite a few people she'd never seen before and she was in a rather good mood so far so why not pass it around so to speak.
Her mouth dropped slightly as she reached Nick who happened to be chewing on an apple, "Are you crazy you don't even know what could be wrong with it," she shook her head slightly at him but couldn't help the amusement she also felt.

Jack walked into the classroom just in time to see Nico walk up to the front desk and take an apple off of it, biting it. Well he wasn't sure that that was the best of ideas, but what did he really care. It wasn't him that was going to be in trouble and maybe if Raven was lucky Gryffindor would lose a couple house points. Merlin knew that the needed the other houses to lose some, because he had a feeling the firsties were going to take a dent out of Ravenclaws points.
"How's the apple?" he asked with a smile taking a seat in the middle of the room. Then hearing Verina he smiled and said, "I don't think it even crossed his mind that something could be wrong with it." He couldn't believe that Nic had actually just taken an apple, off the teachers desk, and right in front of their professor's face. "But I highly doubt it was posioned, though, will find out shortly." He continued with a little laugh. He was just messing with Nic. He didn't actually think that anything would happen to him or that the apple would be posioned.

Derek walked into the room at the tailend of Jack's words to Verina. "Exactly I doubt he even bothered looking at the board to even see what the lesson was about," he said with a slight smirk of his lips. "And sadly i'd have to agree with you on that second point too. Though... such a shame that most likely their isn't anything wrong with the apple," he said giving a put-on sigh of disappointment that hinted at him only partly being truly disappointed.

Gail walked into the classroom, a few students were mingling here and there. Adjusting the strap of her red messenger bag, she gave the professor a nod and headed over to the Hufflepuff table. Seating herself down, she dumped her bag on the floor beside the chair and raised her eyebrows at the glossy red apple in-front of her. Maybe it's about the history of apples? Snow White? How to eat an apple? With Professor Atwood...anything is possible. Pulling her fringe behind her ear, she looked up at the board which had the words: Yellow djinn with opal eyes, I call thee by thy proper name, And to this apple in my hand, I bind thee to the same! Gail repeated it to herself quietly. Interesting and well-written. This I will like. While waiting for the class to begin, she lightly tapped her long fingers on the surface of the wooden table as she looked around the classroom.
