The blackboard of the cavernous History of Magic lecture hall was again, stuffed to the gills with mischellaneous notes about some nuance of magical history that Professor Doggerel found valuable for the best and brightest of the school to take note. The chalked in notes slowly writhed and shifted, vying for top billing on the expansive, floor-to-ceiling blackboard. The dates constantly quarrelled with location names, and lists kept re-arranging themselves. This time, it was Cornelius Agrippa, a 16th century wizard who enjoyed making ripples. Doggerel himself was marking essays at the desk on the main floor. [All History of Magic NEWT students should begin posting here between April 4 & 5.]

Rael walked into the classroom and found a seat toward the back. While she waited for the other students to arrive, she read the board. Cornelius Agrippa? she thought. Interesting, he seemed to be quite accomplished. Rael took out her book to look over while she continued to wait.

As he walked into the classroom, Kellen gave a glance at the board and almost wished he had a camera with him. Taking a picture of all the information, alongside the drawing would be a fantastic way to remember it all, and would save his hand from cramping.
He immediately realized what a geeky idea this was, and vowed not to tell anyone as he took his seat and rummaged through his knapsack to grab note parchment and a quill.

"Hmm...." Beni said from her view at the door to the information. Walking up to Kellen, she finished her thought. "This really makes me want to write notes now." Sitting down next to him, she put a grin on. "Though I'm just as happy to be here! And here I thought I would miss out on--" she glanced up at the board briefly to catch a name, any name, "--The Heimlech bloke."

Allegra strolled into the class, took a look at the board and smiled. Agrippa... not too bad she thought as she found her seat. She immediately got her things out and started taking notes, knowing that much information would take a while to get down... And Doggerel was prone to bouts of unreasonable expectations. Better to be safe than sorry.

"How could you even think of missing History!" Kellen exclaimed to Beni with mock surprise. He kept his tone down, though, in case the professor should overhear him. Doggerel was a bit nutters, and Kellen didn't want to risk getting detention or worse with him. "It's simply too good to miss out on. Really. It is. Ignore the monotone, uninspiring voice you're hearing. It's fantastic."

Brittany very reluctantly walked into the History of Magic classroom. In her opinion, this was the worst class that she had on her entire schedule with the worst professor. A sigh of relief escaped from her lips as she realized the man wasn't in the room yet. Walking to an empty seat in the very back, she began to take down the notes on the board. Not the most exciting stuff that she had ever read before, but then again the history of magic had no real exciting points. At least none that they would learn in this class since most of her years, not all but certainly most, had been basic note-taking skills 101. As she scribbled down the notes she thought of different ways that a professor could make this class interesting. There weren't many, a reenactment would be interesting or a debate of some sorts with teams. Finishing the notes, she placed her quill on her desk and awaited the arrival of their professor.

"Five from Gryffindor for not noticing me," Elliot said to Brittany Garland without looking up. The girl seemed to have selective sight. She was a bit pretentious, though, wasn't she? But back to the essays - it was a real stinker, this one. What was it with females and their complete inability to use commas? They were't sprinkles, for Merlin's sake, they didn't belong in the margins. F.
"I suppose the rest of you are ready to begin," he said as he stood up and shoved the scrolls roughly into a leather atache case. With a glance over his shoulder he noticed that Heinrich Cornelius Agrippa's name was trying to take up the whole upper half. Elliot snatched up a long pointer and gave the chalked words a whack. They fell back in line.
"Cornelius Agrippa," he said rather grandly. "Late 15th Century to early 15th century. How old was he when he died?"

Daniel squinting at the board quickly did the math in his head before saying promptly groggily, "49 years old sir..." As he said this, he raised his hand before quickly lowering it down. Thinking about it, he tilted his head. The man hadn't lived quite long, but then again, that might have been a ripe age. Daniel locked his dark orbs on the teacher and leaned back casually in the chair. He had obviously learned his lesson for arriving late into class last lesson.

Allegra raised her hand promptly. "Fourty-eight, sir," she corrected Daniel, taking note of not just the year, but the months as well. She too, thought it was rather young, especially considering he was a wizard.

Elliot couldn't hide a smile and waggered a finger at his ward, "Not quite Mr Jackson, Thornton's got the money. A fiver to her... Although I'm afraid you've both been duped. But after all, I did lie to you. Cornelius Agrippa's death was never literally confirmed. He was last seen in the house of the Governer of Grenoble having been exiled from France by Charles V for heresy and divinations. It was a small boon though as he had originally been sentenced to death at the behest of the Dominicans."
He opened his mouth to continue on but shut it. Slowly he spoke, "Any theories why the sentence was lifted to exile?"

Daniel had paid no attention the the month factor, and felt quite embarrased. Maybe he could have worked on it about a minute longer and gotten the right answer. No use crying over split person though, neither was it any good to be a seer. Shrugging silently to himself, he copied down the writing on the board, which was quite hard for the letters kept moving on him.... He ignored the statement however for he was writing.

Kellen raised a hand tenatively. "Maybe they couldn't kill him?" he suggested. "There are several cases on record of wizards evading Muggle death sentances using simple, or complex, charms to protect themselves," he added, explaining his suggestion a bit more.

Doggerel's lips rounded into a pleased O. "Ooh, yes. Not been reading Spritely, have you? According to Benedictus Spritely," he cautioned the class, "Agrippa could dodge bullets. Absurd, of course, considering the man would have had to have been blindfolded in an execution. But well done, McCrea: a good answer. "
"I'm afraid that Charles's change of heart is still a mystery. But honestly, if I ever find any of you withing fifteen feet of a Spritely work, I'll shoot you myself," he said mildly. "Most professors like a reading list - I like a forboden list myself. Stay away from Spritely, he's a first class hack and a dirty cricket player."
"Not going to delay this too much longer, but I'll need your essays about now."

Allegra added that tidbit to her notes: Spritely-> hack- dirty cricket player She drew a box around it to make sure it didn't get lost in the other information, agreeing that anyone who would cheat in sports should not be trusted. That done, she pulled her essay (done precisely to directions given of course) out of her bag and passed it forward.
