Oh, the joys of the youth.
Roxanne herself was recalling what it had felt like to be a first year student. It was quite a while ago, of course, and she didn't particuarly recall every detail down to the whim of it all. What she could remember was that Charms had been her favorite class, thanks in large part to the professor that had taught it. She had made the class truly enjoyable, and Roxy only hoped that she could do the same for the first years that were going to be headed in the door at any moment.
A second later, after her mind pulled away from these thoughts, she realized that she had completely forgotten what in Merlin's name she was supossed to be teaching. Looking at her unorganized teaching planner thing that lies on her desk and honestly doesn't serve much of a purpose to Roxanne, she had it scribbled in the corner -not on the date, mind you- that she was planning to teach the first years the difference between Alohomora vs. Colloportus. Oh, fun! She gets to teach the youngest kids two of the most harmless spells in the world and which were quite easy for Roxy to get the hang of long ago, and she'd be done in time for tea. Ah, life was good.
Settling down in her chair, she awaited the arrival of the first year students.

Michea entered the Charms classroom and noticed to her complete amazement that she was the first student to arrive. She really was getting the hang of all the twists and turns and changing stairwells and trick doors of the castle. Feeling like this was a good omen, she allowed a small smile to form as she headed to her seat near the front of the class.
When she reached her desk, she dropped her backpack on the desktop and pulled out the Charms book, some parchment and her pen. She frowned at the parchment in annoyance. She was getting tired of parchment quite frankly. It was rougher than the paper she was used to writing on and it didn't have pre-measured lines that made writing so much easier. Michea seemed to naturally write with a bit of a slant and by the time she reached the end of a sheet of parchment, her lines were seriously drooping to one side.
She made up her mind, she was going to write home for some notebooks with college ruled paper in them and that was that. Having made that decision, Michea pulled the syllabus out of her pack to discover what they'd be covering today and sat down. She nodded towards the Professor and said, "Hello Professor Ashford."

Declan hurtled down the last of the stairs and into the Charms classroom, nearly stumbling over his own feet. He looked up and saw there was already a girl sitting in the class and the professor, so he knew he wasn't late. He began to walk to a seat, when his head snapped back around at the professor. The professor was a woman, and she was very pretty. Declan stared for a moment, then realized his mouth was hanging open. He shut it quickly and walked to a seat near the back of the room.

As Taryn entered the Charms classroom, she realized with a smile that getting back into what she lovingly described as "the class schedule-thing" was going to be a breeze. She had made it to all of her classes on time so far, which was truly a blessing that she had not counted on.
There were only two students and the professor in the classroom, so the Ravenclaw debated whether she would sit with one of the two other first-years or sit in an empty desk. After a moment, Taryn walked to the desk where a Gryffindor boy she recognized from Potions was sitting. "Hi," she offered as a greeting. "Can I sit here, or do you have a friend coming?"

Samuel walked in and loved Charms with a passion and he thought he could really ace this class. He saw three other students, three other people, then he looked around seeing as if he was the fourth person to come.
"Hello, Professor," he said to her with a smile and took an empty desk upfront and couldn't wait until class started, since he loved this class and wished he could learn Charms all the time. He usually has a dream to teach Charms when he grows up, but he thinks he is too young to think of that right as of now.

"YAH TO CHARMS!" Carina randomly exclaimed as she walked in with a smile. Finally, a class she had actually been looking forward to, and a class that she was actually half-decent in. Instead of walking over to her merchandise (a.k.a. Declan), she walked over to a really small mouse-like Ravenclaw bloke whom she was yet to meet. She blurted out pretty fast as she took a seat, "I'm Carina. Fellow first year, however in Gryffindor." She noticed his badge, but she wasn't done quite yet, "Are you looking forwards to this class? I'm looking forwards to this class, because its my favourite subject. Whats your favourite subject? What'cha say your name was?"

"I'd be careful of that one, mate," Jase pipped up to an unknown Gryffindor boy as he entered the classroom, an unlucky soul who had been approached by Carina. He had pretty much mastered the halls of Hogwarts By now, the delayed to Charms only for having forgotten to skip a missing step in the staircase and having had to be fished out by an upperclassman. "She'll talk your ear off if yah let her."
He recalled the Yule Ball all too well. Love potion or no love potion, that ordeal had just proved his theories on the opposite gender; tricky, not understandable, and not to be trusted. Amen.
Stepping widely around the two, he seated himself in the dead middle of the room. It was a new Professor after all, and not knowing how she ruled the room, it was the safest position to take. Not too far back, not too far forward.

She entered at a slow walk, her eyes quickly scanning the room finding both her House Head and Jase to already be present, no Abi. Well, one was better than none as she tried to slink her wya into a seat near the Ravenclaw without drawin too much attention to herself.
Mainly because the fact that her Head was teaching, it just made her feel, well, nervous. Very nervous.

Lianna had spoken..er, thought..too soon. As the other Huffle first year took a seat beside Jase, Abby skipped into the classroom and towards Lianna. She was in a fantastic mood, and that was evident by her bright face and big smile. Taking a seat beside the Hufflepuff, Abigail swished her wand around and dropped her bag beside her chair. "Where'd you go to, Lianna? I couldn't find you in the common room. I found the classroom on my own, though, so be proud." She grinned and nudged the girl in the side, a new side of Abby..a more confident side..definately starting to form.

However, as Abby's confidence grew, another Hufflepuff's confidence plumetted. Taking a step into the classroom, Mark quickly counted the number of heads he saw. 9 including the teacher. Perfect. He was just about to go through another one of his little coughing fits. Without warning, he grabbed the oak pane to the door, and began his coughing. After a good minute or two, he stopped coughing, as gasped for breath. Dark circles outlined his eyes, and he was on the verge of fainting.
Mark hated these little fits. They came so suddenly, and left him gasping for air. He took the seat closest to the door and immediatly bounded down. He closed his eyes for a few seconds before looking up at the teacher in complete innocence. Truly, he was just waiting for the lecture to see 'the nurse'. He had seen enough nurses to last him a lifetime. And he had another appointment later that night. He didn't want to go thrice in one day...

She had just refocused her attention frontward when Abi seemed to appear out of nowhere next to her. "Sorry...wanted a bite to eat before class...didn't mean to leave you though." She claimed with a small, sheepish smile.
"Glad to see you made it though." She added and finished with a commending grin. This in itself would probably deserve a high-five or something, but, she was still nervous withthe whole Head of House->Teacher thing.

Abigail shrugged. "Not a big deal," she said, voice still soft despite her excitement. Abby then turned around to find the source of that long cough, only to see a boy sitting a few rows behind her. She didn't recognize him, but asked all the same, "Are you alright?"

(OOC - Congrats First Years on being the first for everyone to post! ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) ) Roxanne perked up a bit, as about eight or so students entered the room, followed by the rest of the students for that class. She counted them, simltaniously checking them off of her roster as they came in, and was quite pleased when she saw that she had a complete class. As each one came in, she greeted them. "A full house! Very nice..." Roxanne commented, as she stood up. "As some of you may already know, my name is Professor Ashford. I recognize my Hufflepuffs and most of you, but there are some that I don't know names with faces yet, so I apologize if I forget your name." she started off, trying to think of something smart to say to follow that up. "Welcome to Charms!" Alright, that was all she could manage down the whole being smart thing right at that moment. At least she wasn't trying to be organized. That would never happen. "Today, I'm going to teach you all how to use the Colloportus and Alohomora charms. What are these, you ask? Two charms that compliment one another, usually used to lock and unlock doors. Colloportus may be cancelled by an Alohomora, and vice versa. Alohomora unlocks, and Colloportus locks. Simple enough, yes?" She pulled her wand out of her pocket, and quick as lightning conjured a door into the middle of the classroom, using a silent casted spell. Checking the door to double check that it was locked, and to demonstrate to the class, of course, she flicked her wand to the handle and cast "Alohomora!", which caused the door to unlock and swing open. After a moment, she flicked her wand and cast "Colloportus!" which caused the door to shut and lock. "Simple enough, yes?" she repeated, scanning the room. "Would anyone like to try first?" ((If you have not yet posted in this lesson, please RP as you have been there this whole time, or you will be marked late))

Jakob had entered the class long before Professor Ashford had began the lesson. He had walked in and sat behind Michea, a fellow Slytherin. Truth be told, he didn't want to look out of place and thus sort of gathered with his own house, so to speak. He had watched her pull various things out of her book and had seen her frown at her parchment.
Jakob could not help but wonder what was wrong with her parchment but thought it was best not to disturb her. He really didn't want to aggravate her with silly questions. Also, Professor Ashford was here and he would rather not talk when it was the beginning of the class.
Jakob's hazel orbs watched his Charms Professor intently. Jakob watched in awe as she worked her magic, unlocking a lock and then locking it back up again.
How...interesting. Seems simple enough. However, despite its simplistic appearance there must be a degree of difficulty, Jakob said in a mental side note. His left appendage reached into the confines of his robes and pulled out his wand, placing it gently upon his table.
Oddly enough, Jakob found his hand raising into the air to volunteer. Jakob forsook his shyness in his anxious attempt to prove himself magically and academically. He awaited to be called upon by Professor Ashford or, otherwise, be beaten to it by one of his fellow first years.

Declan thrust his hand up into the air as fast as he could. He saw the boy who had just walked in put his hand up too, but Declan really wanted to be the one to try it first. This was one of the few spells his dad had taught him (before he got in trouble and wasn't allowed to teach him anymore) and he wanted to show off. Especially in front of Carina...
