Xander nodded, "Yes, a Griffin caller. That's why it's called a Griffin horn. My family used it for generations to call on Griffins, we actually use them as the one's to guard our house. And... no, not all of our family's objects are dark, but most of them are now classified as dark. It's actually not dark, it's just sensitive. Dakr and Sensitive are not alike, dark are classified as dark because of the illegal ways of using them. While sensitive artifacts are those that are really old and not used to the weather changes and some not being able to be used by other's because of it's strong magical property." he explained, then he remembered something. He had showed them to his 3rd to 5th year students and he could show it to Drew. "There are the artifacts that can only be handled by the heirs of those who made them. Like the Eye of Rah, but it's blood died down over the centuries and no one can hold it properly anymore, let alone use it." he said, pointing at the cloth covered object in the shelf.

"Oh..." Drew answered as it suddenly made more sense. "Kind of like a dog whistle or a duck call... but for griffins." He had never heard of such a thing, but then again, his family didn't use beasts as guards, relying mostly on charms to keep unwanted Muggles from discovering the Thornton secrets.
Drew had studied long and hard on the subject of Dark Arts and knew exactly what would and would not be classified as a Dark object. As much as Griffiths tried to explain it, the man was still describing objects created to do some sort of harm to others. It didn't matter if it wasn't meant to hurt those that bore the family name or not. It had been created to hurt someone for some reason, somehow, somewhere. The problem with these artifacts, like this Eye of Rah that the professor mentioned, was that eventually it got to a point where no one could use it safely. Not only was it meant as a protection for the family, it was usually a protection for the blood that flowed through their veins as well.
"But why are they here?" he asked again, still certain that objects so volitile in nature should not be in a school. Most families with name... and wealth... had estates to keep such things in. They would never be allowed out of the family home.

"My brothers and my only sister are squibs, and even if their kids are magical, it's not safe to put things in a house run by squibs with little wizards and witches running around. Magic like that and little kids don't mix, Drew." he explained. Ofcourse, his family was a bit weird. Usually they wouldn't let the family heirlooms to go anywhere, but with little monsters(kids) running around freely in the house, they had to have someone to keep them. Since Xander was always never in the house, he was to keep the artifacts.
"The Griffiths are not really fond of following traditions, especially when it meant that the kids could reach them. With me, nothing can really disturb it. Only the weather can." he muttered, looking at the shelf, instead of Drew.

Drew narrowed his eyes at the man, wondering if Griffiths had actually heard what he had said. The ironic thing was the man sounded as if he were almost chiding Drew, his tone implying that the seventh year should know better than to mix dangerous items and children.
"So... you thought holding them in a school was more appropriate?" the Ravenclaw asked. Again, Drew couldn't help but think that most people who kept dangerous materials knew how to keep them out of the reach of children. Most Muggles knew well enough to lock up guns and things and Wizards were usually competent enough to set spells and things. Couldn't Griffiths have set precautions in his own home? Were there not places that even the children could not reach? Could they not be taught about these family heirlooms and learn not to play with them?
And if not, there was always Gringotts. How many kids in the Griffiths house compared to the numbers that were here? Students who might come looking for their History Professor and happen across an item they might not recognize as dangerous? It seemed as foolish as asking a class of NEWT students to play dress up. Drew was slightly disgusted with the lack of attention this man paid his students, but said nothing more. As Griffiths faced the shelves, Drew went back to sorting tomes. He'd be mentioning this to someone, though he wasn't exactly sure who yet.

"Drew, those artifacts have to be a secret. If anyone finds out, I swear you'll be the one that I'll be punishing, more than a few months of detention and hosue points" he said, warning Drew as he looked back at the boy. He didn't want anyone knowing, "If anyone knew about this, I won't just be introuble with the school or historians everywhere, but I'll be disowned." he added, looking back at the artifacts. That was the other dangers of the artifacts, the fact that it would cause him his job for him to refuse them, and for him to leave them. Xander sighed and slowly stood up, then he limped over to the shelf and then to his desk.
He was gonna start writing to his colleagues, he hated to admit it. But it really was a danger here, and with a student knowing already, he was in even more danger. "You better send a few more owls back..." he muttered, starting to write something in a hurried scrawl.

Drew looked up and glared at the man. "Are you threatening me, sir?" he asked clearly. Had it not been clear that house points and detentions did not matter to Drew when it came to the well-being of others? The threat alone dispelled any doubt the Head Boy might have had. As soon as he left this office, he'd be telling not only his Head of House, but the Headmistress. Maybe he'd even go so far as to write the Prophet as well.
Who gave a damn if Griffiths got disowned? He shouldn't have been stupid enough to bring heirlooms of that sort to school. Those things were dangerous and Drew would do what he could to get them out of Hogwarts. The thought of getting punished over doing the right thing AGAIN made Drew want to laugh. If no one had taken him seriously the first time, they sure as hell would this time.

"Leave... Leave before I do something even worse than what you saw me do to Jedynak." answered Xander, looking up at Drew with a dangerously blank expression. Drew had ticked him off, now he was gonna get it if he didn't leave his office right now. "Plus, your next detention will be outside with me. IF I Find out that you told anyone, Anyone at all, your really going to know how it is to cross me" he added.
(P.S. someone should interfere in this, preferably someone from the staff, but not Alfonz Jedynak)

Drew got to his feet, thinking the same thing. This detention was over. Drew had an appointment with the Professors Raynor and Kinsley.
"There is no IF, sir," Drew answered firmly. He was not some weak-minded child who could be intimidated by threats. "You have dangerous artifacts at this school... dark objects that you said yourself have no business near children. Make no mistake about it. I WILL be speaking to Headmistress. If you want to take points from me, be my guest. I'll gift wrap them for you. In fact, I'd dare say the Aurors stationed in Hogsmeade may be interested in some of these items you have here as well."
With that, he grabbed his backpack and made for the door. Griffiths had dug his own hole and from that deep there was nothing he could do to Drew that would prevent the eighteen year old from doing his duty and righting a serious wrong.

(I'd love to)
Bustle bustle bustle. It was nearly all the woman had been doing lately. What with the outbreak at its beginnings and potions needing to be brewed, not to mention ingredients being secured in order to properly brew the stage of three potions simultaneously. Her own potion, the one she'd been working on as of late was still in its own far off corner where it could continue boiling, but not quite over, while she worked on the dragon pox potions. A strand of three of them, one would think someone by now would've either managed to combine them or would've come up with a vaccination like she'd read muggles had for certain diseases.
Magic wasn't a miracle though, even if at times it felt like it. Instead, just like everything else, magic needed lots of work and extra attention in order to do something, sometimes by fluke it would work and other times by luck, the rest of the time it needed good old fashioned hard work.
However, while her mind was stuck on the so called cure, Desideria was interested in something different. The older woman was bustling still, but down the hall in search of the History of Magic Professor, she couldn't remember his name to save her life, but she knew his office was somewhere around about in this area. She wanted to ask if he had any books on the history of the Dragon Pox Disease. Something about the potions was bothering her and she wanted to read up a bit, but the library section was rather limited on the subject and what it did contain didn't appeal to what she wanted to know.
So, on her way to the Professor's office she went. And when she arrived, what did she? A rather perturbed looking Ravenclaw, that's what. Before even having a chance to knock on the door jam, she was greeted with an almost sour and angry sort of look.
"Mr. Thornton?" she called, uncertain at seeing the young man's face. He didn't look ill, which was a good fact, but he looked quite unhappy to the older woman. "Everything alright, deary?"

Xander watched Drew with narrowed eyes, he then banged his fist on the table and growled in frustration. If I'm getting fired, I don't plane on letting those artifacts go he thought, he walked over to the shelf and summoned a crate. He then undid the charms on the shelf and the artifacts started quivering, "Taci e rimanere ancora" he muttered. The artifacts stopped quivering, but some were glowing. He ignored it and started shoving them in the crate one by one, Thump for Thump, the artifacts fell on the crate.
He then waved his wand around the crate and sealed it, charmed it to be warm enough for the artifacts and for it to be as light as a feather. "La stupidità dei miei colleghi che mi ha concesso questi artefatti" he continued to mutter in italian. He was more than pissed right now, and didn't care if they understood him or not. He then limped over to his tomes and banished them to their crates, then he banished the other artifacts back to their crates as well. I don't need someone to tell me to leave, I'll leave. If I get fired, Woohoo for me. I'll get a chance to help look for my sister. he thought, looking around his office and limping towards his desk. He didn't do anything there though, he just sat down and closed his eyes. "Odio gli studenti come Andrew Thornton" he concluded
(translation:Taci e rimanere ancora - shut up and stay still La stupidità dei miei colleghi che mi ha concesso questi artefatti - the stupidity of my colleagues giving me these artifacts. Odio gli studenti come Andrew Thornton - I hate students like Andrew Thornton.)

Drew had barely crossed the threshold when he nearly ran into Professor Tapia. His intention had been to go straight to Raynor and tell her the whole thing, but when faced with the Potions Mistress, he ended up telling her the story instead.
"Raynor. I need to talk to Professor Raynor now," he started, his tone and demanor making it clear that no, things were not alright at all. He didn't even care she had called him 'deary' at this point. The problem was getting the Headmistress would take time and there, standing before him was a Head of House... not his, of course, but still one he thought he could trust.
It had become very clear over the past few months that even though he was of age and an adult wizard in the eyes of the law, here at Hogwarts, he had very little recourse. He was just another kid without a voice and last time he had gotten into a conflict with Griffiths, Drew felt the matter had been trivialized. If he was lucky, this time he'd get someone to hear him.
"Griffiths has a bunch of dangerous items stashed in his office," Drew continued, pointing towards the door he had just exited, his voice surprisingly calm as he spoke to the woman. The eighteen year old really didn't give a damn about what the man thought he could do to him, but Drew didn't want Griffiths to think it was okay to bully students anymore than it was okay to keep dark objects at a school. "Dangerous things that, by his own admission, shouldn't be near kids. I voiced a concern about him having them here and he said if I told anyone, he'd come after me. He said if anyone found out, it would be more than just a few points and a month of detentions for me. He said he'd do worse to me than what he did to Alfonz Jedynak."
Drew was glad he had run into Tapia. She could feed him a dose of Veritaserum if she needed convincing that this was more than some kid having a conflict with a teacher he didn't like.

Hearing the tone of his voice, Desideria focused her attention away from the thoughts of historical information on the dragon pox and put them directly on the boy. Why did he need to talk to the Headmistress? And more importantly, why did he sound the way he did? Upset, angered, frustrated, was that almost fear that lingered? The woman wasn't sure, was unable to tell, and wouldn't say a word about it. Baring the true emotions of one was hard enough, he didn't need an older woman asking too many questions when he sounded as he did.
Dark eyes widened, the Hispanic woman waited for the boy to continue, or stalk off. Either way, she'd be stuck standing in the near threshold trying to decide exactly what she was supposed to be doing. Would she continue on her quest partially and find out what was going on from the professor? Would she walk away with Mr. Thornton to Raynor's office (one of the two that she'd be likely to be in) and find out there what was going on? No, Mr. Thornton was going to stand right there and tell her. Lucky her.
As soon as the boy told her there were dangerous objects, she didn't think much of it. In her own store she had a few dangerous potions, though she wouldn't make an admittance to a student about such. They were things she was working on, dangerous because of their instability. But what he continued with, that he'd been threated, her dark orbs narrowed. A quick glance at the door, one more to the Thornton boy, and her mouth hung open slightly in awe. But what had the man done to Mr. Jedynak? True, Desideria didn't get out of the dungeons often, but she knew he was the quidditch player, after all she did attend the games to cheer on her House and students. But she hadn't noticed anything wrong with Jedynak.
"Slow down, Mr. Thornton," she advised, not wanting to get the wrong picture, but needing the full extent of it to understand. "You were threatened that if you told about certain...objects you'd be worse off than that of Mr. Jedynak? What happened to the poor man?" Not extremely observant, but she would've noticed if he had feathers poking out of his ears or something to that extent.

At least Tapia was willing to listen. Drew really didn't care what the hell Griffiths intended to do to him. He just wanted to make sure the man didn't go and try it on the smaller kids.
"Some of the artifacts Griffiths keeps around his office are really bad," Drew said, more than happy to give all of the details in the matter. "I mean, one like totally took a chunk out of his leg. I suggested that this might not be the best place for them. Heck, I even offered to help him pack them up and get them someplace safer."
Drew took a deep breath, trying to explain calmly and clearly. "He said he didn't want to keep them at home because there are kids there and I'm thinking, then why does he think a school is better, you know? So then he goes and says that if I tellanyone, he's going to do more than just take a few points or give me a bunch of detentions like he did when I walked out of class." Tapia had been one of the professors he had told about that incident, one he still thought he had been unduely punished for.
"I was okay with him just getting the stuff to a safer location instead of leaving it lying around his office, but when he said that, I get to thinking that maybe this stuff is a lot worse than just regular dangerous stuff, so I said there was no if I told, I was going to talk to someone," Drew continued. "That's when he threw me out, saying he was going to mess me up worse than he did to Jedynak last month if I didn't go. Griffiths slugged Jedynak when Jedynak expressed concern over Griffiths scaring some of the female students." It was whatever Alfonz had burned that had been the breaking point, but Griffiths had been acting like a jerk before then.

Bewildered about what the boy was going on about, Desideria shook her head a little, trying to clear her mind. Griffiths was keeping dangerous objects in his room, in the plain sight of students? And one had hurt the man, Andrew offered to help Griffiths pack things up. She remembered well the time he had walked from the man's classroom, he, Hjort, and Manning. Desideria had met up with the group in the Ancient Runes professor's office. But Thornton was talking about the man threatening the boy if he told about the things in his office.
"'Old on," she told Thornton, raising her hands in the air to slow the boy down for a moment at least. "Griffiths 'as objects in 'is office that are dangerous. You offered to 'elp 'im put it away, get rid of it, and 'e threatened to 'mess' you up if you told?" The potions professor was still unaware of Jedynak getting anything messed up, but Thornton was being brave for actually telling. "What does 'e 'ave in there?"
It could be a number of things, but she was curious to know exactly how dangerous it all was.

Xander stood up and walked over to his window, he could see something approaching and he remembered something. He sent a letter a few weeks before already, it was probably the reply. He opened the window and let the owl land on his shoulder, he then looked at the letter and saw that it was red. Xander gulped and quickly went out of his office and bumped into Professor Tapia and Drew, but before he acknowledged them, he quickly performed sealing spells on his office door and dodged away from Drew and Desideria to a corner where he opened the letter. It was surely from the department or his relatives. And a loud voice speaking italian burst out, Xander had to wince a bit as he listened or tried to..
Fare attenzione a quelli artefatti e rimanere vivo!"
Xander stood frozen as he heard every italian word his superior had told him, then he watched the letter disolve in ashes. He was in more trouble than before and he wasn't the only one to get fired from it, now he didn't really know what to do. Xander leaned back on the wall and slid down to the floor, shock still evident in his eyes. He sat there, shaking his head and sighing. He wasn't in the best of positions now, that was for sure. Xander was in an even worst situation, it wasn't only him in danger of it, but also his whole group. A feeling of dread and worry was coming to him as he slowly stood up and stared at the remains of the howler, he took out his wand and cleaned it. He then walked back to his office door and unsealed it, he peered inside and saw that the artifacts didn't activate. He walked back in and sighed, then he sat on the chair he had vacated earlier and didn't even acknowledge the two people outside his office. He placed his head in his hands and thought of how much he was in for now.
(translation: DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHY WE EVEN GAVE YOU THOSE ARTIFACTS!? TO KEEP THEM, NOT TO GIVE THEM BACK. SEND THEM ANYWHERE YOU WANT, BUT NOT BACK HERE!!! THOSE ARTIFACTS ARE YOUR JOB AND ALSO IT IS THE ONLY THING LETTING US STILL KEEP YOU AND YOUR GROUP WITH US AFTER WHAT HAPPENED!!! I DO NOT CARE IF IT IS ENDANGERING THE STUDENTS OR WHOEVER IN THERE, SEND IT AWAY, BUT YOU AND YOUR GROUP ARE IN TROUBLE WITH THE INTERNATIONAL HISTORIAN DEPARTMENT!! BE CAREFUL WITH THOSE ARTIFACTS AND STAY ALIVE!)
