7:30pm
Her footsteps echoed down the corridor as she made her way to the History of Magic Professor’s office as she had done many nights since their meeting in the Library stacks that had been rather interesting all in and of itself. Ultimately, what was found from the chance meeting was something that Annemarie never figured she’d be able to admit to herself, let alone any one else. Her stomach flipped as it had the previous nights she’d spent time with Xander, and yet tonight she felt just that much even more on edge. A surprise? She really wished he hadn’t done anything… especially it being on Christmas, Annemarie found that that usually meant something just a bit more. She sighed a shaky breath and tried not to think about it. It was nothing… and there was nothing to be worried about.
The day, however, had not been that bad. An encounter with a few students, whom she’d tried to see what exactly was happening with them, and that was pretty much her day. Annemarie had walked around the grounds trying to sort through things with herself, and above all of that, she was thinking and wondering about what on Earth, Xander could have meant when he said to meet him in his office that night for a surprise. Again, she was nervous and hoped it wasn’t anything to huge or embarrassing, even though she knew it’d only be the two of them in his office.
Sighing to herself again, she reached the door to his office and raised her fist slightly. Annemarie hesitated at first to knock, wondering if what they were doing was even right… she had to convince herself every time not to think about such things, for when did she ever have such fluttering sensations in her stomach, let alone how fast her heart seemed to beat every time she was near, or there was any mention of the man. Sister Mary Ellen said that they were good for her… that it meant she was still young at heart, and following the path God had laid out for her. Annemarie could only hope.
Knocking three times, she waited for Xander to answer. Again, she took a deep and shaky breath…
