Times had changed. Mainly allot of her past year. Boys had come and gone, painfully at that, friends had been made and lost, passions had started and finished, but the memories the girl had still remained. Matty, still was left with nothing to say to Jynx these days. A few weeks ago in the Common Room they had seemed to be on good terms, and that had been more than Matty could have ever dreamed for. She had made a decision, one that was going to influence her life for the next year, hopefully more. The Fourth Year appeared to be peaceful at this stage, her homework had ended, as the break had started a couple of ago, so there wasn't stress about work. For now, the Hufflepuff had been chillin' out, relaxing before she was to head home. At this very moment however, if you were to walk through the Sixth Floor corridor, you would find a girl, sitting with her back up to one side of a large window frame, just seated there.
The sun was setting, the golden light leaping out of the clouds that covered over the sun. It was breath-taking, really, as the golden light spun into mixes of reds, pinks, purples and oranges. The sky was an amazing mix of pale to bright colours, a massive array casting beautiful lights all over Hogwarts, and onto this girl's peachy face. Matty was clad in a pair of dark gray skinny jeans, a white V-neck singlet top under a deep purple V-neck jumper with a small hood at the back. Her hair was in a loose pony tail, stated high but drooping due to it had been like that all day. Her green eyes gazed out at the view from her window place, as her hand lightly traced over a small, round green stone, being brightly shone upon by the light, one of which was lying on her neck via a silver chain. Memories, they were there forever.

Jynx was out for one of his walks around the castle. He did that every now and then when he was bored and had nothing else to do. It was almost time for him to go home for the holidays and he wanted to get one last walk about before he actually went. He enjoyed all of the secret corridors and rooms that he would come upon. They always came in handy later on when he was hiding or trying to make a fast route somewhere.
Venturing onto the sixth floor he rounded one of the corners. He didn't notice right away, but halfway down the hall she came into focus. There was someone, who looked a lot like a certain Huffle, looking out the window on the far end. It was a weird feeling to see her so close to Christmas. After all it had been just the Christmas prior that they had spent together. Both their families over at his house for the holidays. It was fun why it lasted, and so much time had passed that he now just took the good memories with him. He was no longer bitter, well maybe a little, but not noticably, and he was actually getting use to being around her. They had gotten along quite well as of late and it was a good thing in his opinion. At least maybe there was hope they could go back to being friends. He had decided to put what had happened between them in the past, and now all she had to do was make her move. He certainly wasn't going to be the first one to approach the subject of being friends, even if he was open to that as a possibility.

Matty was still oblivious to the fact that someone had come into the corridor she was placed in. Her thoughts just kept running, going over the experiences she had gone through with Jynx. It was too, on her mind, that it was coming to Christmas, her previous one being the best Christmas the girl had every had. Well, it was right up there with spending Christmas with Daniel or her mum, so Jynx's Christmas had meant allot to the girl. She was glad that they could both accept being in the same presence as each other, and there was that strong beam of hope wanting to be his friend again. She wanted to make things right.
But suddenly, at the sound of faint footsteps, the Hufflepuff turned her head rather quickly to the other end of the corridor. There he was, the boy she had once loved, then hated, and now was confused about. Where did they stand these days? Well, there was only one way to find out. "Hey Jynx." she said with a smile, swiveling her legs to hang over the side of the sill.

"Hey," Jynx said with a small smile as he approached where Matty was sitting. He was now just far enough away to lean up against the wall next to where she was sitting on the window sill. It wasn't like he was uncomfortable being this close to her again, but he hadn't really had a proper conversation with her since the last one by the lake, and even then that wasn't exactly a proper conversation now was it? So he wasn't quite sure what to say. I mean what did you say to someone that tore your heart out, even if you were over it as of right now. "So how have you been?" he asked rather lamely, finding those to be the only words he could think of at the moment.

Matty returned his smile with a comfortable one of her own. She felt a little awkward talking with Jynx like this, casual and all, but it was a change for the better, rather than being scared what to say, or just not saying anything at all. The girl watched him as he leaned against the wall near where she was sitting, her green eyes observing him. He looked well, but different. This was because she looked with him through different eyes now, before, as someone she could consider as her boyfriend, now, almost a friend. Looking down at her lap for a moment as he asked her how she was, the Hufflepuff considered her options to answer.
Had she been good? Yes, really? But a month or so ago her answer would have been quite different. There was something swelling in her chest, wanting to emerge, wanting to tell something by Jynx. It was well hidden now, but maybe at the right time Matty would be able to speak what as inside of her. "I've been pretty good. How about you?" she asked, also feeling a bit lame considering these were the only words she could manage.

"Good," Jynx said with a shrug and then just keeping to small talk added, "I ran into our old friend Davenport a couple of weeks ago. She asked where you were at." He remembered the first time they had gotten caught out of bed, that was a great night, and the detention hadn't been half bad either. "Apparently I have aweful luck when it comes to being out past curfew." he said with a small laugh and a crooked smile. He wasn't quite sure what made him say it, but he did so that was that. He guessed it was just more comfortable to say something rather than nothing.

Matty grinned and bit her lower lip slightly as Jynx mentioned Davenport. It was nice how he had said 'our old friend' it made her feel like there was a friendship there, well, beginning anyway. Once the girl then registered him stating that Davenport had wondered where the about of Matty was while she had found Jynx, the Fourth Year looked up from her lap. Her eyes played lightly in the haze of glowing light, falling upon Jynx's face. "Really now? Well, it's surprising that she didn't get the gist that we weren't together anymore... but lets not talk about that."she quickly said, before adding "And what pray tell were you doing out past curfew again?" the girl asked in a kind tone, smiling and still looking at Jynx.
It was amazing to think that they had once been like this before going out.

"Yeah it is," he said with a small laugh as he thought back to that time. It was true Davenport had been there when it all went down, but knowing her she probably just forgot that little run in. Well that detail anyways, after all she was known to be a little forgetful at times. I mean she completely forgot to come to a detention, how could anyone forget that? Although her memory was a wonder because she sure didn't forget just how many times out of bed he had actually been caught. Maybe it was some kind of weird selective memory or something. Who really knew?
"I was just out with some of the guys having a little fun is all." he said with a mischievious smile after she had asked him. Purposely leaving out all of the little details. She didn't need to know that they had 'borrowed' Norbrook's fourwheelers and such. That would just make him look worse, and besides this way there was still a little mystery to it.

Matty returned his laugh with a small giggle of her own, knowing that the event that had happened that night was now in their past. The whole Davenport catching them out thing had been a custom for Jynx had Matty, the first time it had happened resulted in a quite enjoyable detention, and to this day the girl had never forgotten what adventures she had gone through with Jynx. Her green eyes shifted slightly, now looking at the ground as a rather large grin broke onto her face. "Is that all huh?"she asked in a matching mischievous tone in comparison to Jynx's smile. "Well at least you were having fun. What was her punishment?" Matty asked out of curiosity. There was still something in side of the girl that she wanted to tell Jynx, but right now she was just building up on how comfortable she felt around him.

It was amazing how comfortable Jynx felt just from a simple memories in their past. Of course it wasn’t the same as it had been in the past, but at least it wasn’t the awkward silence that filled them when they ran into each other during the past couple of months. Jynx just smiled when she asked if that was all. No it wasn’t all of what happened, but it was all he was saying at the moment. “You mean because it was my third time out past curfew?” Jynx asked with a smile as he mimicked Davenports voice the best he could towards the end of his sentence. Then deciding to just tell her he added, “Well she did suggest something about using the robe binding curse to keep me in during curfew. I thought that was a bit harsh for just having a bit of fun, but of course it was a ploy. We just ended up having to replace the sod and a couple of other things along with that.” he said with a smile.

Matty grinned rather largely. and bit her lip to hold back the smile that was filling up her face. An image of the two, while in the early hours of the morning, while looking for their shoes popped into her head. Before that event had occurred, the two had been mucking around and talking like this, before they realised how much they did like each other. Good times. The girl glanced her green eyes up at the boy, before saying "Well I guess she would have thought you would have gotten bored of her punishments by now, maybe she wanted to spice them up." the girl said in a teasing tone. Letting out a small sigh, Matty looked back down to her lap.
"Jynx, there's been something I've been wanting to tell you." she said, sliding off her seat on the window sill and leaning up on the wall, facing Jynx. "I just want you to hear me out and please, this is not meant to hurt you, I just want to tell you the truth because you're the one that deserves to know the most." Matty said, looking the boy right in the eyes. "You're going to notice that Leto and me are gonna be spending allot of time together, I hope you catch my drift, and I want to to know that I didn't plan any of this. It's just the way that it's happened." the girl said, her eyes still glued to Jynx. Merlin, help that girl if she was being out of place.

"Maybe," Jynx said with a smile and a shrug. It could have been that, or it could have been her being serious about not wanting to see him out past curfew again. Or a combination of the two. If he had to bet on it, it was probably a combinatioin of the two.
Oh no this wasn't good. It was never good when someone started of the sentence in that way, and they had been having such a good conversation before hand, well at least it wasn't forced. But what could he do but hear her out? Nothing so he would hear what she had to say. "Alright," he said with a shrug wondering what it was going to be this time. Oh it was about Leto. Well couldn't exactly say he cared for the boy. "Umm...okay" were the only words that came out of Jynx's mouth. He really was over the shock of seeing her with another guy, but still didn't want to see her with someone like that. He just hoped that the guy was a better friend and guy for that matter than his brother Mike.

Matty looked down at the ground as Jynx managed to say something, she knew how awkward this must be for him, so the girl didn't want to push her luck. "I'm sorry I just, wanted to tell you." she said in a rushed tone, mentally kicking herself for being so stupid about saying something. "I know I shouldn't have put you in an awkward situation like that and... I'll stop now." the girl looked up and tried to smile, despite the fact that she had been rambling. "Anyway, are you going home for break?" Matty said, sliding across the wall and sitting back on her sill perch. The girl then leaned forward a bit so she could see Jynx better. Merlin, she was an idiot.

“It’s alright,” Jynx said with a shrug. “I don’t care who you are going with just as long as they treat you right.” He really didn’t mind her seeing other guys. They weren’t together any more so why would he care? He wouldn’t, so hearing the news about Leto didn’t exactly hurt him. It was just more of a shock that she would actually go with a guy like that. Jynx didn’t know the guy personally, but he knew his brother and that was enough in his opinion. Although he would never say this to her because maybe Leto wasn’t like Mike. Jynx sure hoped he wasn’t for Matty’s sake.
“Yeah,” Jynx said as he watched her slide back over to her original perch. “It’s kind of a tradition, so I will go there for the winter holidays. Well at least most of the winter holidays anyways. How about you?”

Matty couldn't help but smile as Jynx commented. She was glad he cared, because the girl knew she cared for him as a friend. Well, pretty much, despite what had happened in their past, it looked as if things were finally starting to clear. "Thanks Jynx, hopefully you're right on that matter." she stated, her green eyes twinkling in th evening light. Folding her legs up underneath herself, the girl rested her hands on her folded up knee's. Then as the girl listened contently to what Jynx confirmed about his break, she nodded. She wondered how his family was, and how they had taken the news to the two breaking up, well, thats if Jynx had told them yet.
"Yeah. I'm going for Christmas to see Dad and Daniel." she mentioned, before adding "But then I'm coming back to Hogwarts after a while. If you get the chance, wish them a Merry Christmas from me." Matty hoped she wasn't crossing any sort of line, and that Jynx's family didn't think too badly of her.
