Regent's Park
Brenton had kept in touch with Jeremy all summer, after having gotten his address, and finally after a number of weeks, they were able to make a time to meet up together. No, they weren't meeting at Diagon, but Brenton was kind of looking forward to being in the park, as historical as it was it would make him feel even more at home as the Prince he was. His mammee had agreed to dropping him off early in the morning before going to the spoon-packing factory to begin her first shift and he was to find his own way home. He figured with the few coins in his pocket he'd just take a train home, and he still had a few left over to get a bite to eat. Brenton had checked the prices at the train station the day before, he figured going from London to home wouldn't be too much more if not the same price.
Thankfully he hadn't grown any that summer, so his mammee didn't have to spend money buying him robes, he hoped to maybe save ths money she'd give him, he didn't know what he'd do with it, but he'd find something. His newt had made itself at home under his bed, and his broom was in his closet, where all of his Hogwarts stuff was located.
He got to the park at 7 that morning, but since it didn't open til 9, he just hung out on the bench by the park, waiting for Jeremy or the park to open. Didn't matter which, he was just hoping one of them would happen soon, he was kind of sick listening to the old lady go on about her passed husband.
Swinging his feet, which barely scraped the sidewalk, he looked down at his old shorts, his t-shirt that stretched too far, old shoes which were almost ready to be tossed, and then looked up and around. Where was his friend? He was just glad the weather looked like it was going to hold out that day.

Jeremy thought there might be hope for himself yet. He had grown all of five inches over the summer and while he was still the shortest person in his family after his little sister, he thought that maybe one day he just might catch up to his cousins.
On top of that, he was meeting his best friend for a play date. While he was kind of cranky that his mother insisted on coming along, she had promised to let the boys go off alone as long as Brenton's mother agreed and they promised to check in regularly. Jeremy agreed to the arrangement, though he was pretty sure that if Brenton wanted to not check in, Jeremy would be spending the rest of the summer vacation grounded from doing anything.
"Why did we have to bring her?" Jeremy grumbled as he glared at his little sister. Sarah was six and such a slow-poke. The blonde little girl wanted to stop at every bush and tree to look for fairies and butterflies. Jeremy had tried to explain there would be lots of places to search at the park, but Sarah was determined not to miss any of the delicate creatures.
"Sarah, pick it up," Mrs. Taylor prompted, pulling her younger child away from the hedges she was poking through. "Jeremy's friend is waiting and we're almost there."
"I saw one!" the little girl cried out, though Jeremy was sure it had only been a dead leaf. The way she was fussing, she would scare off anything that might be flitting around.
"I see Brenton!" Jeremy cried out pointing excitedly before running towards the open front gates. He had only gone a few feet before he turned back around and ran back to his mom to give her a quick kiss. "I'll meet you at the playground at lunch time!" he told her before hugging his sister for good measure. Then, turning back towards the entrance, he resumed his sprint. It took him a few moments to realize he probably looked like a stupid little kid and he slowed down as he approached Brenton, trying to look cool and collected like he had play dates with his many friends all the time.
"Hey," he called out to the Slytherin as he got closer.

Jeremy was taking forever! Brenton began to wonder if maybe he had the wrong date, knowing his mammee wouldn't be able to bring him in the next day if he was wrong. Or what if Jeremy had decided to bail? Well then, Brenton was just going to have to have his bravest knight beat the living bloody hell out of him. No one bailed on Brenton. And as he fidgeted in his seat, he tried his best to ignore the woman next to him, now talking about a cat or something like that. Honestly, he didn't care about her husband or her cat, or anything about her. Rather, he was more interested on the boy coming his way.
Jumping off of the bench, Brent quickly tried to straighten his outfit, and wipe the bit of sleep from his eyes that had accumulated in the last couple of hours during his wait. The Slytherin wasn't sure if he was supposed to be meeting Jeremy's mammee or not, knowing his own wasn't anywhere around and wouldn't be home until real late, the reason he had to get home on his own. Thankfully the trains didn't take too long to get from London to his town.
"Hiya Jeremy!" Brenton called out when the boy was closer. His brown eyes took in the newly gained inches on his best mate, wishing he'd grown taller too. But, he reminded himself, it was in his heritage to be smaller, if he was any bigger, then he'd be taken from the royal court. Being small was important to be a family heir in his royal line. "How're ya?"

Jeremy skipped slightly as he reached the spot where Brenton waited. The Ravenclaw's mother thankfully held back but was obviously watching the two carefully. Jeremy was sure she noticed that Brenton hadn't brought his mother. Maybe she'd leave them alone when she realized Brenton wasn't being treated like a little kid.
"Where are we going? What are we going to do?" Jeremy asked the other boy by way of answering Brenton's question. He'd be fine as soon as he was out of his mother's sight.

"Uh," Brenton started, not really sure what they were doing. They were going into the park, he knew that much, but...what were they going to do? Of course, the park was huge and they could do anything they wanted to, he just wasn't sure what to do exactly. Brenton had only been to the park once before, and it was fluke when he'd gone there, but there had to be lots of stuff for them to do there. Right?
"Well, we could check ou' the spor's they've go' going t'day." He thought maybe they had tennis and cricket tournaments that day. "Or we could go t' the zoo, the theater's open today, but I think i's some boring play they're doing in there. Sometimes I think they have puppe' shows and stuff like tha'. Really, we could jus' abou' anything you wanna do, mate."
Looking back at the younger girl and the older woman Jeremy brought with him, he glanced back at the other boy. "They with you? I mean, if they plan on tagging along we could go t' the zoo or look a' the gardens or something like tha'."

"Okay," Jeremy answered, thinking any of it sounded good as long as it's what Brenton wanted to do. Jeremy wasn't a huge fan of sports and his mom and sister were probably going to visit the zoo, but if that's what his best friend wanted to do, that's what he wanted to do too. The puppet show sounded baby, but good thing Brenton didn't sound to excited about going to the theater.
As the other boy looked over towards Mrs. Taylor and Sarah, Jeremy tried to keep his eyes focused on something totally different. He actually liked his mom a lot and his sister wasn't all that bad, but he didn't want Brenton to think he was a baby bringing his mommy along. "They're doing something else," Jeremy said vaguely, figuring that even if they all ended up at the zoo, he could avoid his mom and sister in such a big area.

"So tha's your mammee?" Brenton asked, completely unaware of Jeremy's sudden interest in anything but the two that he'd come with. Brenton didn't think much of him bringing them along, at least they could afford to. His mammee was back to working night and day again, lucky if she had a bit of time off after a twelve day stretch. Though he was glad for the cash flow that came a little at a time, he wouldn't have minded her being home a bit more since Mrs. Fortune wasn't next door anymore.
"Well then, le's ge' goin', shall we? There's go' t' be somethin' we can fin' t' do. The zoo's pret'y cool, bu' doesn' open for another hour or so. We could jus' walk around a bit and then head tha' way, if i's alrigh' with your mammee." The Slytherin didn't want to get his best mate in any trouble, and definitely didn't want to get in any trouble with her either. After all, if they got in trouble, maybe his mammee wouldn't let them spend time together anymore which wouldn't be any good. This was the first, and likely the only, time they'd gotten together that summer. Maybe shopping for their stuff in Diagon later on since they were taking a lot of the same classes still, but other than that, there wasn't much meeting up since Brenton wasn't from London.

Jeremy would have laughed at how Brenton referred to his mother if he hadn't been so surprised. The young Ravenclaw sometimes still slipped and called her mommy, but was trying to remember that she was his mum. He didn't think anyone else his age still used the baby term.
He nodded seriously, waiting for the tease to come. If Brenton ripped on him form bringing his mommy, Jeremy would rip right back for Brenton using the term Mammee. But the tease didn't come and Jeremy decided to let it go.
"She's okay with it," he answered, wondering if the ribbing would come when he mentioned checking in. "She just expects me to meet her at lunch..." he said, shrugging it off like it really wasn't a big deal if he disobeyed and skipped out on the check in time.

"Okay," he nodded and shrugged. If his mammee wanted them to check in with her for lunch he was fine with that. A noble lady had to keep an eye on her off-spring anyway, just to make sure they hadn't gone missing. And as her son was going to be with a Prince, well, she really had to make sure they weren't kidnapped and prince-napped. While he knew his mammee wouldn't ever really be able to pay any form of ransom, he knew his real family would come forward and do so and then take him back to their castle where he would live happily-ever-after...after he found Hannah again.
"Le's go then," Brenton told Jeremy, taking a few steps and wondering if they were going to be tagged or if his mammee would really leave them alone. Glancing back at the lady, he wondered if maybe he should introduce himself, but then decided not to since they'd be meeting up for lunch. "Do you know where she wan's to mee'? I's a really big place and lo's of places t' ea' really."

Jeremy nodded back with a look of (what he hoped was) superior knowledge. He had been to the park a few times and while he hadn't ever been allowed to go off alone, he knew his way around pretty well. "There's a playground by the zoo and a place to eat near there," Jeremy answered already thinking of the sausage sandwich he wanted.
Brenton started moving and Jeremy followed, not exactly sure where they were going, but knowing Brenton always had some sort of neat idea.
