Luce knew what she had to do that day. She didn't know whether or not she'd be able to do it, but she hoped that she could. It wasn't a matter of them letting her try; she had made an appointment, but could she pull this off? It may seem to be a little late in the life to be trying, although the girl was only twenty years old, but most people passed just after their seventeenth birthday, when they were legally adults in the magical world. But Luce had failed, once, twice, three times, and had never tried again. Her failed attempts made the girl fear what could happen, and she didn't want to be humiliated.
Thats right; Luce was looking to get her Apparation License. She had promised herself that she would do so as she rebuilt her life, muggle transport was just boring, and she couldn't afford, both money and time wise, to travel by the floo network all the time. Her parents hadn't forced her to do it, she had just decided that it was time for her to mature, bite her tongue, and get it over with. Heck, if she failed she'd probably never ever try again ever, but Luce was willing to overlook that possibility and try once again.
Waking up to her usual alarm, Luce stretched and stood up, yawning. She was going to follow the same pattern that she did every day, just with a few different things. Instead of scrubs, she was dressing normally, instead of going to St Mungo's, she was going to the Ministry of Magic. Having dressed, Luce grabbed her toast and was out the door; if she didn't leve then, she probably never would have. Catching the bus to the heart of London, Luce for off at her usual stop, but instead walked just that bit further to the ministry of magic.
Luce always felt out of place when she came into the building. Perhaps it was what everybody else was wearing, perhaps it wasn;t the girl's foreign language, perhaps it was the busy, hectic feeling that it gave you, Luce didn't know. Standing there in her muggle clothes, Luce hated herself for not picking something more appropriate. Muttering to herself in French, Luce would have looked strange to any passersby, but no-one seemed to care, or at least, no one stopped.

Rollo Winner only lived a total of 7 minutes walking distance from the Ministry of Magic, 10 tops if he took the time to enjoy the scenery although there really wasn't any. Despite this he always managed to be late but this was most likely because of the hour long detox showers Rollo was now taking every other morning. They helped or at least that's what he told himself as he was trying to steam out the toxins Frank Sinatra and the Rat pack style. He'd read it was what they did after a night of swinging although Rollo wasn't swinging just getting drunk at home or the Leaky Cauldron. As Rollo sat there in the shower the hot water pounding against his body he thought about things. About the conversation he had with Andrew Thorton the day before, how his father wanted to now meet the boy, and more importantly how he'd gotten nothing done on his first day of his new position. Actually had someone burst into the room at that moment Rollo probably wouldn't have moved as he lay there in the tub the shower pounding away at his body. He was that deep in thought and somewhere between those thoughts and the shower he was making an odd connection and was humming and whispering quietly. At that moment it was the only real sign that he wasn't dead to be honest so from that standpoint it had to be good....right?
"Fly me to the moon and let me sing among those stars. Let me see what spring is like on Jupiter and Mars. In other words hold my hand. In other words baby kiss me."
While the connection was a simple one Rollo would never be able to make it. The song was in fact something his mother had sang to him as a child and even more important the only thing his father Darrin had sang to her. Rollo could not make this connection as he finished purging the evil from his body. Climbing out of the tub Rollo examined himself for a brief moment. The scars only spared his face as his arms, chest, and legs all looked some what similar. His legs in fact weren't that bad but they both held to long vertical scars that had been given to him by the same werewolf who graced him with the one across his chest. That's why he had started drinking or at least that was what he told himself at that moment. Drying off he made his way into his bedroom and looked at his futon. It like usual had not been slept in the covers still perfectly folded while it was in coach mode and as he pulled on a pair of jeans he felt his face and let out a small groan. It had finally happened and Rollo had known it would eventually, he had gotten piano face from sleeping on the keys. It wasn't much and would most likely be gone by the time he arrived at the office but it was still bothersome and if it lasted he'd make sure to have his door locked at least for the first hour of the day. Pulling his usual v-neck t-shirt on Rollo stuck his head out the window for a brief moment to gauge the temperature. It was moderately windy and with that he grabbed the only scarf he owned, wool and solid blue, and wrapped it around his neck. Rollo didn't need his bag today as yesterday had yielded little but a false report and today proper work would begin. He'd apparate back instead of walking with whatever paperwork he may or may not have had with him. It was just a simple decision to travel light today. With that Rollo secured his wand in his pocket and headed out the door lighting a cigarette on the way.
Rollo hated the entranceway with a passion. It wasn't so much that he knew he was at work, although that was part of it, it was more that it meant the end of what he thought was a lovely walk and when standing in it for too long Rollo felt extremely out of place. There were quite a few reasons for this and they were in essence simple ones. He was probably the only wizard who worked in the ministry who didn't wear robes so he stuck out like a sore thumb and furthermore Rollo highly doubted that any other wizards smoked let alone did it in the entranceway to the ministry. But there Rollo stood staring at the ceiling as he walked already on his second cigarette of the day. He wasn't addicted as his personality was not that of a habit forming one but the cigarette kept his mind off other things which at this point in his life were stretching him to the breaking point. It was at this moment that as Rollo walked he first heard a yelp of pain which was followed by a distinct feeling in his body that told him he had just run into well a person. Rollo in all his awkward shyness immediately went into apologizing and grabbed her arm checking for the possibly burn mark. His soft voice hurried and apologetic.
"Oh my goodness I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to, I mean I just wasn't looking where I was walking......I'm really sorry."
If Rollo Winner had disliked anything more then himself at that moment he would loved to have known what or who it was. He had managed in one fell swoop to possibly burn someone and run into them at the same time. This someone also happened to be a very attractive girl. Cursing under his breath Rollo had no clue on what to do, what move he should make, or if he should say anything else. When it came to work Rollo had an answer, he could even stand up for himself, and hell as he witnessed yesterday he could manage to talk casually. This wasn't business though this was a random encounter and Rollo had no idea what to do. So Rollo stood smoking his cigarette and hoping that the piano keys were no longer imprinted on his face.

Luce really didn't know what to do, or how to act. She knew she would have to bite down and do this eventually; how could she further herself in her career if she relied on muggle transportation, healers were usually needed on the spot, or at events that she wouldn't even be able to get to; but that only made it more nerve racking. Although she was kind of happy that her nerves were stopping her from moving, no matter how much she wanted to, she was too scared to back out, but too scared to move in forward. People seemed to be avoiding her, treating her like she was muggle, even though she knew that muggle's would never be able to get in, but there was a definite bubble surrounding her. Luce had never felt more different from anyone else in her life. She had always fit in, admittedly she had stood out in her school years, but for all the right reasons, and she found herself just wishing that she had brought a spare pair of clothes, robes preferably. Wearing a blue denim, highwaisted skirt with a white singlet tucket into it, Luce matched her shoes and her bracelets to the beads that hung around her neck. With a coloured bag that had been her mothers when she was young, it wasn't just the design of the outfit that made her stand out, it was the bright colours. Just as the girl decided that this was not the right time, that she was going to leave, Luce felt a familiar feeling. She had been bumped into before, she was not estranged to it, but she was scared of the situation that may arise. Some of these people that worked at the Ministry they were scary, and usually angry. Luce didn't react to the pain that it caused her, as it was rather mild, but the girl just wanted to see who it was that had pushed her. She wasn't angry, no, she was in the wrong, she was just... curious. Turning around, adjusting herself so her clothes sat right, Luce smiled towards the man as he grabbed at her arm, checking for something that Luce guessed was the consequences of his cigarette on her arm. Shaking her head, as words refused to come out of her mouth, Luce cursed herself for still speaking French as her first language. When she was nervous, she always confused her languages, forgetting that most other people did not speak French. "Oh non, non. Ce n'était pas vous, qui était ma faute." Luce spoke, trying to sound casual, although the boy probably had no idea what she was talking about. Shaking her head, as if angry with herself, Luce smiled nervously, feeling the colour and heat in her cheeks rise. "That, um, was my fault?" Luce said, in a questioning tone, not sure if she was using the right words. She spoke English fluently, but with all new languages there was possiblility for doubt.

Rollo wanted to smack himself for his absent mindedness on his walk in the entranceway. It was not like him to be this careless and bump into people or anything of that sort. Finishing the cigarette he watched the girls movements and felt overwhelmed due to the whole situation. Rollo was not a people person for one and this required social skills those oh so dreaded social skills. He was even more distraught when at first when she began speaking in French. Rollo recognized the language but had no idea what she was saying and now his deepest fear was that he had hurt and possibly insulted some sort of ambassador or something of that sort. In short Rollo was freaking out until she spoke the first few words of English which immediately put him at some kind of ease. Not at total ease now though as she was now trying to blame herself and Rollo would not have that. If his father taught him one good thing in life it was how to treat women in general.
"No it's my fault not yours at all, I wasn't looking and I'm sorry I really didn't mean to. It's not like I bump into people with cigarettes to start conversation."
Rollo was no longer off kilter with the ordeal and had straightened himself back up. Fixing his scarf he smoothed out his t-shirt and made sure he hadn't lost his wand. Everything was there and he now turned his full attention to the girl in front of him. Immediately Rollo wished he had just watched where he was walking. It was as if he was at Hogwarts again and the only time or chance he seemed to talk to girls was in situations like this and per usual the girl he had managed to run into was gorgeous. Also per usual Rollo was managing to make himself look like an idiot and doing so with far greater ease then any other human being could most likely manage. Sighing he scratched his head somewhat aimlessly and hopelessly seeing as an awkward silence had now settled over the two of them as they stood there. They both stuck out like sore thumbs in the middle of the bustling ministry entranceway as they were the only two not wearing wizard robes. Deciding to bite the bullet Rollo figured he mine as well attempt to be friendly in his usual odd and shy manor.
"Hey look is their anything I can do to make this up to you at all. I mean anything at all I feel really bad even if I didn't burn your arm off or anything."
Burn her arm off! What in Merlin's name was he saying just there. It was a cigarette it was as if he was carrying around a blow torch or a new born Hungarian Horntail on a leash. Christ what was he thinking at that moment. Rollo wanted badly to lit a cigarette using it to give him at least some sort of poise or pose to stand there with so he didn't seem so awkward. That was what had gotten him into this mess in the first place was a bloody cigarette. Had they not relieved so much tension Rollo would have probably kicked the habit right then and there but he wasn't that inclined by the incident to do so. He wanted to apologize again but decided that this most likely was a bad idea and would only make him seem like he was over eager or he had been looking to make it happen so he could talk to her or something.
Rollo wanted to scream as the thoughts raced through his head. He didn't know what he was going to do at that exact moment and the more he thought about it it confused him. Sighing he cleared his thoughts and decided to not open his mouth again. He would just ride this out and see where it lead for him. Rollo was just hoping that he hadn't made to huge of a fool out of himself because he knew somehow he'd be hearing about it later from someone. This someone was most likely Rollo's father which is why he dreaded him finding out even more. Sighing Rollo debated running but thought that would look far to shifty and shady so he just stood there. Not moving, staring at the floor, and barely breathing Rollo Winner waited to see what would be the outcome of this encounter for him. He could only really hope that it would all work out for the best.

Rocking back and forth on her heels, Luce smiled childishly. She had embarrassed herself more in the last thirty seconds than she had in her whole life. It killed her just to think that this boy was more than likely going to crack up as soon as she took her gaze off him, thinking about how stupid this blonde girl was, and how she lived up to the stereotype that she had fought so hard to break down. Luce felt stupid, and she was totally oblivious to the fact that the boy must have felt this way too; she was way too busy contemplating ways that she could get herself out of this sticky mess, not that she didn't want to talk to the boy.
As weird as it may have sounded, Luce was glad that of all people to bump into her, this guy was the lucky one. Not that she had planned on a conversation starting after a collision, no, but if it was to happy, this kid was the best person. He was obviously nice, and despite almost burning her, Luce could see that he meant well. She was just glad that he hadn't gone off his nut at her for disrupting his entrance into his workplace, to creating a disturbance that everybody could have done without; something that she had expected off a ministy worker. That and the fact that he looked around her age, and he wasn't some 60 year old guy.
"I'm sure everything would 'ave been easier 'ad i not been standing in the middle of where everyone was walking." Luce grinned with a shrug. "I'm sorry if i don't make much sense, when I get really nervous, I get mixed up with my languages."
Shrugging once again, nervously gesturing with her hands to indicated the mixing up, Luce continued to rock back and forth, a habit that she had developed over the years to stop her from going insane, though it may have looked like she was. Luce was never the person that cared what people think; growing up as the popular girl, most things that people thought were either expected or nice; but as she turned nineteen, she felt herself become a lot more self conscious, something that again happened when she celebrated her twentieth.
"Not unless you could think of anything?" Luce shrugged innocently, smiling towards the boy. She knew if she told the boy about her plans for the day, what with the Apparation Test Center in need of being found, there were two possibilities; he would either laugh, or he would give her the directions, one would be humiliating, and the other would get rid of the chance to give it the miss.

Rollo could not believe the mess that he had landed himself in now. Why had he opened his mouth past an apology? He wasn't equipped to deal with the girl who was in front of him especially socially. He was lost and had no idea what he was thinking but couldn't help but chuckle for a moment as she attempted to take the blame again. He understood her perfectly and that wasn't the issue it was more a less that Rollo just thought he was completely at fault. If he hadn't been moseying, because that was really the only word for it, through and paying attention to something other then the ceiling they wouldn't be having this problem. After all he had almost burned the girl how could she blame herself it was all puzzling to Rollo but he let it go as he attempted to work up words to say what he wanted to say now. His mind wasn't work she had stunned him with this encounter and Rollo's social experiences didn't exist outside of a bar or his office. Maybe this was good for him but why did it have to be this earlier in the morning that he was being blown away by this girl.
"No I've understand everything, well not that French bit, but other then that I've gotten what your saying. Lets just say it's both of our faults I wasn't paying attention and you weren't moving it was bound to happen I suppose. I'd still really like to make it up to you."
His mind screamed no at that moment and he wondered why he had put himself in that position again. After all what did he have to offer her and furthermore she was probably just being nice at this point. He was awkward which was extremely noticeable and on top of that she probably had much better things to do then waste her time on him. This though was all thrown out the window though when she smiled at him. The simple parting of her lips caused Rollo to melt as she exposed her perfect teeth and his mind was racing for what to say next. He was lost complete oblivious as to what normal people did to make things up to each other. Drinks were out of the question seeing as that was the last thing he wanted was for the girl to see him full of piss. His office was even more out of the question as it smelled of smoke, vodka and whiskey. Rollo was actually amazed at how well he was thinking of all this at the moment and then another thought struck him. Someone this beautiful could not be alone there had to be a boyfriend. There was no where there wasn't and Rollo sighed heavily at the thought. He decided on going for it none the less. As a small sheepish smile crept over his face Rollo shrugged and spoke softly.
"I insist let me take you to lunch or something after your done with your business here. I feel really bad."
God what was he doing Rollo could not believe the hole he was digging himself into. Caving to the need for a distraction he lit another cigarette and the gravity of how odd the must look in the middle of the floor came to him. They both stood in muggle clothes not moving and blocking a majority of the traffic that was coming through. One small stubby witch across the way he noticed was glaring at him intensely but he supposed that was because of the cigarette in his hand. Taking another drag he examined the girl again and realized she seemed nervous and a bit on edge. He doubted it was about him and figured it was about whatever business she had to take care of here. Sighing Rollo shifted the position of his feet and waited to see what she would do and say. At the moment he was just trying to figure out how he had gotten himself into this mess in the first place.

To any one the passers that had actually been paying attention to the two, it probably would have been incredibly funny. They were both acting really awkward, one kept mumbling in French and the other well... He didn't exactly seem to be having the time of his life. Luce felt bad, had she had realised the stupidity of even going to the ministry to attempt to get her Apparation licence, something that she'd probably wasn't going to go through with, or at least not parked herself right in the middle of everything, the boy probably would be in his office by now, and the girl probably would have been... in a cafe or something, trying to talk herself into giving it just one more try.
Nodding in agreement to the boys suggestion, Luce gave a giggle. "Good idea." She said, brushing a loose curl behind her ear. She didn't really know what to do; was she stopping this guy from getting to work? Hopefully he wasn't going to be late. Luce didn't really care if she made her appointment or not, she could live without it. Her parents would probably kill her if she didn't try, but she was willing to go through that, just so she wasn't humiliated in front of so many people, when she moved half her body to another place, or something like that.
"No, it's fine. There's no need. Seriously." She said replying not to the invitation to lunch, but to the boy's comment about having to make it up to her and how he felt bad, reaching out to touch the boys arm just momentarily, before using it to adjust her bag on her shoulder. Smiling genuinely, Luce rocked back on her heels, waiting to see where else the conversation wandered. All they had talked about was how he felt bad, how it was both of their faults, and that was pretty much it.
Nodding as the boy invited her out to lunch, Luce grinned. "Don't feel obliged... But that sounds great. But don't feel bad." She said, with a grin. Holding out her left hand for the boy to shake, Luce smiled all the more. "I'm Luce." The girl hadn't even realised that they were yet to exchange pleasantries; when she met a person it was usually the first thing that she did. But nevertheless, now was as good a time as any.

Rollo felt a sinking feeling as she continued to insist it wasn't his fault. All he hoped was that she didn't blame herself and he couldn't help but feel surprised that she agreed to the lunch. She wanted him to not feel bad though and this was a first for Rollo seeing as for the most part he had only ever gotten yelled at by the such people before in his life. He wasn't used to people being so nice to him and this girl, this lovely girl, was doing just that. Rollo didn't know how to deal with it, which of course he blamed himself for, other then apologizing. It was probably one of his bigger character flaws and it was a glaring one at that. For the most part Rollo took everything on the chin and blamed himself. The scars, his awkwardness, his misinterpreted words, and just overall himself were all things Rollo constantly found himself apologizing about himself to everyone he encountered. Maybe this was why he didn't have friends or maybe that was just because Rollo didn't talk much and engage people in conversation. Either way it left him in an awkward situation her as he was trying to actually have a conversation. Looking up
"I want to take you to lunch, it isn't because of some awkward messed up inner blame I have. I promise."
Taking a drag from his cigarette he realized he didn't even want to smoke around the girl. She seemed so pure and sure about things. He had no idea if this was actually the case but she made him and his habits feel dirty. Even if this lead no where besides an awkward lunch he needed to see her or have her image near him it would make it easier not to go the bottle. She was everything he wasn't and it was refreshing to finally meet someone who was. She touched his arms and he felt chills run down his spine not because of some odd sense that he had been touched by some divine being but because people didn't touch Rollo. Besides his parents and the occasional handshake Rollo's physical contact with the human species was nil. He felt bad she had touched his arm probably felt his scars and who wouldn't find that disgusting? Shaking his head he brought himself back and heard her name. Luce he would commit it to memory which wouldn't be hard seeing as his contact with females was next to none. After all his departments weren't teeming with those interested in dealing with dragons or werewolves and even if they were Rollo ignored everyone around him while working it was probably a good habit but he wouldn't know otherwise.
"I'm Rollo Winner a pleasure to meet you Luce."
Reaching out hesitantly Rollo shook her hand. It felt smooth and warm unlike his rough and cold hands. His scars were in full view now and Rollo couldn't help but sigh as he looked at them. All they did was make him question why he put up with his father anymore. Quickly though he realized it was because of his mother and the fact that he knew he wouldn't be able to see the better half of the two should he cut ties with them. Looking up at the ceiling all Rollo could think of was how much he didn't want to go to his office. How he didn't want to sit down and deal with the paperwork and possibly getting his first field assignment. At least he was interested in examining dragons where as with werewolves he would have much rather kept his distance. Now instead of scratches he'd have burns and maybe a missing limb or two. Shaking his head he decided he was going to ditch work and would send an owl into the office as soon as one was near. Looking at the girl Rollo could help but smile sheepishly.
"So when do you want to do this lunch thing. I'd hate to impose on whatever your appointment is so I'll let you get to that but I suppose we should make plans and what not you know?"
Rollo hoped she did because he surely didn't, after all what experience did he have in this area? Shaking his head at himself he took a drag off his neglected cigarette. Maybe he would go to the office after all just to get some quick work done and head out early for the day. That was it he'd go in handle what he had to and then leave. Rollo looked up at the ceiling again knowing if he didn't it would probably appear that he was staring. That was the last thing he needed to do now was appear obvious.

It wasn't that she was blaming herself for the incident, no, she was just willing to forget what had happened. She had never had a collision as the conversation in which acquainted her with whoever it was that was the other party involved, but she had already decided that she'd never like to have one again. Luce had always been the kind of person that pawned the guilt off, that blamed someone else for her mistakes. She called this confidence, whereas some other people called it arrogance. But this changed Luce, that had been around suspiciously since her nineteenth birthday, she was willing to take anything.
"Okay." She said simply, nodding her head in acceptance of what the boy had said. She felt happy that he actually wanted to take her out, but she couldn't get rid of the nagging voice of Sebastian at the back of her head. Sure, they had broken up, and she wasn't really speaking to him, but it had been so long since she'd been... alone. It felt weird to not be commited to anyone, a feeling that Luce wasn't that fond of. It wasn't loneliness, heck, they had only been broken up a couple of weeks, but Luce didn't like the feeling of not being tied down.
Choosing to ignore the boys obvious scarring, as she wasn't sure what he'd think of her passing her judgement of them, Luce shook the boys hand, before returning it to her side, sweeping her fringe out of her eyes with her wrist as she did so. Of all things that could have distracted her from this appointment, she was glad that it was this boy. There was an air of coolness to him, maybe it was the cigarette, but Luce couldn't help but compare him to what the guys were like in high school.
"The pleasures all mine." She grinned politely, as the boy looked up the ceiling. Adjusting her footing, Luce smiled, before opening her bag to reveal her diary. "Well, uh, today is my only day off for the rest of eternity." She joked, although she knew that her days off were scarce, and that she usually had plans for those few aswell. "But, I guess I have lunch breaks?" She asked, to make up for the write off that she may have provided with the first statement. She didn't know, but it did no harm.

Rollo was glad she didn't seem to notice the scarring. This girl was different from the ones he had encountered at Hogwarts although he assumed she mostly likely went there. Even without the scarring then the girls had pointed at him and whispered and by their rushed whispers and actions he knew that it was not at all in a flattering manner that they did this to Rollo. He was odd he knew it and for the most part he avoided contact with his classmates and other students. They didn't interest him or intrigue him in the least. That and Rollo never quite had the courage to talk to any of them to find out otherwise. Looking down Rollo continued to analyze all his faults and where he had gone wrong in life until the girl pulled out her date book.
Stunned for the moment at the idea of having a date book at all Rollo tried to wrap his mind around the concept. He wasn't organized nor did he have any kind of schedule unless it was work. It was something that made him wonder if he should re-evaluate his life but then realized he should probably do that anyway. Shaking the thoughts from his head Rollo couldn't help but wonder what the girl did for a living. She obviously didn't work at the ministry for a living or at least that's what he gathered from her hesitance here in the entranceway. Rollo for the time being though would not ask her this and instead try and work something out to do lunch with her.
"To be honest I'm free whenever for lunch. I usually eat in my office alone so just name a time and place and I'll be there no problem."
God he sounded like a twit and couldn't believe he had admitted openly that he ate alone. Of course his schedule was wide open he had none to start off with and even if he had any kind of schedule he had no friends to book into it or plan to do things with. His best friends all resided in his flat or behind the bar at the Leaky Cauldron. Sighing Rollo finished the cigarette and put it out right next to the other one.
Rollo found this all a bit unbelievable though but his luck had to have some kind of upside. Up until this point his only encounters with women had been those that had lead him to a taxi or those who were telling him off at his desk for some sort of mishap that had gotten pinned on him. Rollo though at this moment couldn't help but let his smile take over his face as he waited for her response. This was easily the best day he had, had in months.
Rollo knew that tonight he wouldn't be going to the bar. That tonight he would go home and take what he could remember of this girls face and draw it. Then he would paint it in every way and angle possible. It wasn't obsessive and if it was he wouldn't know. When Rollo saw things of beauty and could remember them he would destroy canvases in attempts to try and capture them. It was the only thing he had every been good at so he thought he mine as well attempt to capture whatever she presented him with. Rollo had a feeling this girl would be good for him in some way shape or form. What way Rollo couldn't tell yet but knew that it was for the best.

ALthough she couldn't help but wonder about what had caused the scarring that was obviously something that the boy was conscious of, Luce knew that it would be wrong to ask him. She didn't want anything to come between the two, as he was the first new person that she'd met in what seemed like an eternity. Luce knew that she'd probably be insulted if the boy pointed out something about her, even if it was something little, like one of her curls was askew, or she had a stain on her clothes. It wasn't right to do that, something that Luce was incredibly aware of.
"Um. Well." Luce said with a shrug, watching a wizard and a witch eye her and the boy carefully, in a seeming angry way. Okay, so they were blocking a bit of the traffic, and it probably wasn't the best time to do that, but those people could get over themselves as far as Luce was concerned. "Please don't remind me." Luce laughed, a nervous smile forming within her features. "You wouldn't mind showing, or telling, me where the Apparation Test Center is?" She asked the boy, hoping that it wouldn't be too much trouble.
Luce was never good with directions, she always managed to get lost somewhere in the piece. That was one of the reasons that she hated muggle transportation, there were so many places that you could end up. Luce needed to bite the bullet and get on with this appointment, though she was more than happy for this boy, Rollo, to keep distracting her from that. Heck, she may have been repaying the boy, she may have been holding him back from the office, Luce didn't know. She had just assumed the boy worked here, although he may have been there for other reasons, like her.
"I see." The girl couldn't help but give a small chuckle towards the boy's honesty, though she wasn't sure how he'd take it. "Um, well. 'Ow about next Tuesday? I think I 'ave my lunch break at about 12:30. Thats for about two 'ours." The girl offered, knowing someone had to make the invitation. If Luce didn't have it planned, then it was probably never going to happen. That diary, or date book, basically ruled her life.

Rollo found himself as he would realize probably a little too elated at the thought of being able to spend more time with the girl. She was so nice and polite and it wasn't like dealing with a majority of the people in his life were he felt hostile or defensive. This was dangerous for him though to let his guard down like this though, wasn't it? At the time Rollo realized he didn't know and most likely didn't care but at the same exact time he couldn't help but feel as if what he was doing was stupid and somehow he would hurt himself with this. Rollo shook this all off though knowing he couldn't think about such things for too long before he became paranoid. Rollo turned his attention back to the question at hand though.
"Yeah I can show you down that way, not a problem."
If it meant he would be able to spend more time with her then why not. Rollo was interested in someone and was actually able to talk to them without wanting to run and hide. Taking a breath he realized that this wasn't in fact the case though. Every time before he spoke Rollo checked himself and wanted to do exactly as he had just told himself he didn't. It was his luck that he'd say something to dig him in a hole to put him in the wrong with this girl. It wasn't something he relished doing so he would have to step carefully in this situation.
Rollo watched as she laughed at what he said about eating alone. He didn't know why she laughed and to be honest he didn't care. Being mad at her was impossible her laugh filled himself with too much joy and the delight on her face gave him far too much pleasure. It made him feel hope and happiness things that he hadn't known since he was a child. Rollo longed for it desperately now but didn't let the girl see or know because being needy wasn't in him usually and by now he was probably being far too obvious for his own good. Was wanting more of something like this bad or greedy? Either way at the moment he decided to not care. Looking down he smiled as she suggested the day. He knew it was wide open and that nothing would stop him from spending those two hours with her. Running through his head he pondered if he had off that day but it didn't matter. For the first time work wouldn't drag on insufferably for him.
"Yeah Tuesday would be great for me! Anywhere you'd like to go in particular?"
He knew he sounded far too excited about it like a kid in a candy shop or on Christmas morning but Rollo didn't care. It was odd how such simple things as this made him the happiest in the world. Granted most people probably reacted to things in this way when they first experienced them but Rollo would know nothing about it. He was late on the whole life stages path but his body and mind for the most part made him feel like he was in his mid-thirties and not his early twenties. He convinced himself it was the job and turned his attention back to the matter at hand.
Rollo was somewhat rethinking the walk to the test center. It wasn't so much that he didn't want to spend more time with Luce but that Rollo realized he may run into his father. Running into the older Winner this morning wasn't something he fancied but the more Rollo thought about it the more he thought it was worth it. He could deal with his father with her beside him; she gave him some odd sense of strength that made him feel like he could deal with today now. It was odd and refreshing at the same time. Putting his arm out as a offer Rollo turned to the girl.
"Shall we go then I think we've blocked enough traffic here for the time being."
Rollo shot her another one of his sheepish smiles and then a feeling of dread took over his face. His arm....his scarred and what she most likely found repulsive arm. Rollo frowned slight and retracted the offer as quickly as he could. The last thing he needed now was to scare her away with those accursed things.

Looking at the boy as she once again adjusted her footing, Luce couldn't help but smile. For the last two weeks she had been unhappy, with nothing to look forward to, but now, she was smiling, she was laughing, and she couldn't wait until Tuesday came. She would have suggested sooner, but Tuesday was the day that she had her longest lunch break, or at least that was what she called it. To be honest, she had two shifts that day, one ended at 12:30, the other began at 2:30. It was just easier to call it a lunch break than it was to explain.
"Thank you so much." Luce grinned, as the boy agreed to take her to the test center. It didn't really matter if he came or not, but with him there, it took away her opportunity to bail. Even with the matter at hand, the lunch invitation from the boy, she couldn't stop thinking about the possibilities, the chances, the probability that she would fail, with much embarrassment and humiliation. Knowing Luce, she'd either get it spot on, or fail hopelessly, and she really didn't like those chances.
Tucking the strand that just kept falling out behind her ear once more, Luce again grinned. "There's this really nice little fish and chip shop around the corner." Luce shrugged, knowing that she wasn't really the restaurant type. She hated sitting down to eat, she was more of a rushed person. Besides, there was nothing she loved more than to sit in a park, so if the boy didn't mind, she'd opt for that. "Good idea."
Luce said, placing her arm over the boys own, again not drawing her attention to the scarring. It really didn't matter to the girl, there was obviously a story behind it, a story that could wait for another day. Of course, curious ol' Luce would have to ask one day, but for now, she'd just let it be. "So where is it?" Luce laughed, taking a few steps towards the stairs and the big elevators.

Rollo listened to Luce's choice of eatery and nodded in agreement. That was fine he would eat wherever she chose as long as he got to spend the afternoon with the beautiful girl. Watching her movements Rollo took in the reality of the situation and how lucky he was for once in his life. How for once one of his missteps and mishaps had led him to something spectacular. It puzzled him for a moment but he knew that something had to go right for him eventually, after all, his life couldn't be all bad. Something this good though was unbelievable but Rollo knew that it wouldn't last. It was just the way things went for him. Rollo wanted to be with her before he even knew her. He knew was getting ahead of himself but he didn't care. Rollo wanted to be able to tell her freely that she should just leave that strand of hair alone because it looked cute that way which was probably why it was fighting to escape from behind her ear. He wanted to be able to kiss her awkwardly and know what love really was. Rollo wanted to not be alone in his apartment and even if he couldn't sleep in his bed he wanted to be able to lay there all night just holding Luce to see her wake in the morning. Rollo stopped himself though as he knew this wouldn't happen because things like that didn't happen to him he was Rollo Winner.
"Yeah that sounds great do you want to meet up there or would you rather here?"
She thanked him for his assistance and again the hair fell. Watching he wanted to stop her hand and tell her that it was fine, that she shouldn't worry about it, but he knew that he couldn't. It would seem odd and awkward both of which qualities he'd displayed enough already hadn't he? Rollo began to walk but then he almost stumbled. He felt something on his arm which felt like another human arm but this was impossible wasn't it. Rollo's first thoughts were that he was fooling himself and it was all just a figment of his imagination but as he turned his head and looked down he saw that Luce's arm was wrapped around his. This couldn't be possible could she really not be bothered by his scarring. It was a simple act and Rollo knew that most people would not do as he was at the moment but he blushed profusely. Was this girl really not bothered by his scarring? It was a bit odd to him seeing as half his arm was covered in the accursed things but it was her judgment and for whatever reason it didn't bother her. Rollo savored the moment feeling and slightly felt that he knew this may be the only time this kind of thing could happen to him. Bringing himself back to earth though Rollo answered the girls question.
"It's on the sixth floor with the rest of the magical transport departments so it's not too far down."
That was a bit of a reality check for him as this contact and moment with her would only last for two floors. Oh how he wished it would last longer. Was this how teenagers felt when they had their first taste of............well whatever this was? Walking the girl to the elevator he had to wonder how old she was since she was going to take the test but decided not to pry. It wasn't in his nature to do so and for the most part she appeared to be about 19 or 20. As they stepped into the elevator Rollo knew he would have to press no buttons seeing as it was still relatively early and everyone was arriving and therefore going to all floors of the ministry. It didn't seem like that though as he stood with her by his side. Her arm touching his was the most personal contact he had ever had from someone who wasn't his parents. Luce made him not worry about how the rest of the people in the elevator were looking at him as he normally did, she made him not feel as if not talking at this moment was a bad thing, and she made him not want the time to go faster until the sun went down so he could go get skunked at the Cauldron and then stumble home. Rollo wanted this moment to last for as long as he could make it manage to last. Sighing he turned and watched the girl just waiting for the elevator doors to open at the sixth floor.

Luce wasn't really sure what to do. She could see herself liking this boy, but her mind wasn't yet clear. She still loved Sebastian, but she didn't know how that was going to pan out, she hadn't said a word to him since the breakup, although the missed calls on her mobile and the messages on the answering machine were starting to get to her. Sebastian was a nice guy, like she was sure Rollo was, but Luce still couldn't figure out what her brain was trying to tell her. Perhaps this boy only had a friendship in mind, something that Luce was more than happy with, but she didn't want to hurt the boy.
"Uhm. Let's meet there, say 12:30?" Luce offered, knowing that she didn't want to step foot in the ministry of magic again, especially knowng that she'd be in her scrubs; she wasn't planning on getting changed. Or maybe she would, though she'd just have to change back, and that would just eat up more of her lunch break. Sighing as she saw the few strands of hair fall over her eyes once again, Luce gave a giggle and leaned so her bag was easily opened. Digging through for a small box that she kept a few things in, Luce picked out a blonde coloured bobby pin and clipped the bit of hair over to the side.
"Thanks, I know me, I'd just get lost. And wouldn't that look great, a person lost in the Ministry, dressed in muggle clothing." Luce smiled, knowing that the pair already stood out enough without her having to ask directions from someone that would just immediately judge her by how she looked. Looking into the door of the elevators, her reflection portraying her as she tried not to look; she didn't want to seem vain, Luce took her gaze to the floor. The marble floor that Luce was rather glad didn't have a reflection, mostly because of the skirt she was wearing.
As the large doors opened, Luce smiled at the boy she was with. "Thanks, if you want to you can go to work now." She said, not wanting to boy to think that he absolutely had to take her. "I mean, you don't 'ave to, but you might be late." She shrugged, with an innocent smile, looking up at the boy.
