"That might be kind of stinky, so I should probably stick with the whole Auror thing for now," he answered back with a wide smile that only grew wider when she kissed him. He didn't expect it to last very long, given her parents were just upstairs (and her dad would string him up by the toenails if he caught them), but he was going to enjoy it for as long as he was able.
Slipping one hand out of hers, he reached up to cup the side of her face not only to feel the softness of her cheek, but also to make sure he could keep that kiss going for as long as possible.

Her hand, now free, found a spot on the back of his neck where she was able to play with the bits of his hair; a motion she knew he liked, and one she quite enjoyed, too. If she could only guarantee that her parents would stay away for a little longer, she would've loved to pursue the kiss, but Felicity really didn't want anyone to get into trouble.
Breaking off before they got too involved, Felicity snuggled up against him, resting her head against his shoulder. While something like this was likely to get them in trouble also, they wouldn't be banned from seeing one another for very long either. She hated that her dad was so much like he was around Drew, and though she somewhat understood, at the same time she wished he'd understand.

As it usually happened, the kiss was over way before he was ready to end it... but he understood that it was probably for the best. Her parents were just upstairs and he really didn't want to be caught in a lip lock, losing any of the trust he had... as little as that might be.
She snuggled up to him and he leaned his head on her, feeling warm and content. He knew he'd still get yelled at for being so close to her, but when he wasn't kissing her, he could think more clearly and had a better chance of hearing her folks coming back down. He also suspected Mrs. Hjort might sound some sort of subtle warning like she often did before re-entering the room.
"I should probably owl my folks," he said, thinking they'd already be a tad upset getting the news in writing rather than hearing it from his own mouth. He still wasn't sure how his mom was going to take it all. She was still trying to talk him into moving back home.

"You're really going to owl them about this?" she asked surprised as she pulled back just slightly in order to look up at him. "Shouldn't you call? Considering the good news in it all?" While he'd told her his mum was expecting him to still return home, she also figured she'd be proud of her only son getting the chance of a lifetime. Of course, he had to pass all three years of training and vigorous training before becoming a full-fledged Auror.
"Your parents are here in Europe, aren't they? You could call them from our phone, mum won't mind and I'll pay the charges. I mean, you could use Harold, but I think it'd be better for them to here you in person talking about it rather than by letter. Do you know the number where they're staying? It doesn't matter, we could call your Aunt and ask, I'm sure she'd know and then you can call your parents."
Eagerly, Felicity started to lead him from the kitchen toward the hall where their only phone was located.

Actually, a phone call would be way better than an owl and he wasn't sure why he hadn't thought of it right away. His parents were staying at the house while in London, but his mom usually carried a cell. The only place it really didn't work was the Ministry and Diagon.
"My dad went into the office, but my mom and Allegra got an early start shopping this morning," he said, following Felicity to the hallway and digging his wallet out of his back pocket. "I think I have her cell number on me. You think that will work?"

"Shopping?" Felicity asked with interest. She liked his sister, had had a wonderful talk with her just before Hogwarts let out, and shopping could be fun, with the right people. Of course, she also realized it wasn't any of her business, so didn't say another word on the subject.
"Well, we could owl your dad and call your mum, then, right? Harold will be glad to take the letter, I would send Dustan, but he's busy delivering a letter elsewhere at the moment. And we'll make sure not to let you up the stairs..." she said cautiously, remembering what had happened the last time. Nope, this time she'd take it on her own, when her parents were present to see Drew was staying behind. Though, that likely wasn't the best option either, but it beat having him banned from her home.
"Here's the phone, feel free to call, I know mum won't mind a bit, especially over something like this." And she would pay for the charge, so it didn't really matter.

"Or, if I write out a note to my dad then you can send it off while I call?" he suggested, finding the slip of paper that held all of the phone numbers he needed but still hardly ever used. He knew he would never be allowed upstairs again, not after what happened the last time, and even if he was given permission, he would still suggest Felicity do it herself. He really didn't need to be kicked out of the house for good and banned from seeing her ever again. Plus, if she sent the owl while he made the call, they'd get both messages sent as once and that would be less time apart in his mind.
All he needed was a slip of paper and a pen. It probably wasn't the best way to tell his dad the good news, but there really wasn't much else he could do other than wait for his dad to finish his business.

"Of course," she answered with a large grin as she dug out a notebook and pen for him from a drawer. It wouldn't take long at all to send Harold with the letter and she might even be back in time to give him at least one more hug before her parents were done. Though, she doubted her dad would take much longer, especially if he heard creaks in the floor as she made her way upstairs.
Waiting for Drew to write what he needed to, she rocked back and forth on the balls of her feet in anticipation, hoping his family would have good words for him in return.

Hey Dad, I got my letter from the Ministry today. I'm at Felicity's about to call Mom and I hope we can celebrate tonight
-Drew He took the pad and pen and wrote off a quick note. Okay, so it wasn't really much, but he wasn't sure what to say and he figured his dad would still know how he was feeling about the acceptance. Folding the note once and writing his father's name on the outside, he handed it off to Felicity and took up the phone. Making sure to get one more look at her gorgeous eyes before she went upstairs to sent the message, he gave her a crooked smile and dialed the operator to make his call.

Grabbing the letter, the seventeen year old took off down the hall and up the stairs to send off the newly written letter. Harold was pretty good about finding those who he was in search of, but she wished Dustan could do it as he was quicker, but she figured it didn't really matter much as long as the letter made it to the proper person.
Entering the room where both owls lived, Felicity's brown eyes immediately landed on the gray animal and she quickly called him to her. Tying the letter with ease, she told him where he could find Mr. Thornton, though had little idea of the specific area as she'd never been in the Ministry building before, nor knew where it was located other than in Great Britain. Watching the creature fly off, she started on the path back to Drew, only to be stopped by both of her parents. Her dad giving her a suspicious look, wondering where Drew was if Felicity was right there. Obviously he was hiding upstairs...

As the operator picked up the line, Drew asked her to dial the number and reverse the charges. Going through a middle man nullified any and all concerns he had about calling his mom and now all he had to worry about was what his mom would say. She had been pretty clear about her feelings about him becoming an Auror, but he was hoping that her concerns were more centered around the standard mother issues instead of something more.
"Hello?" his mother's voice sounded on the other end as the operator made the connection.
"Mom?"
"Drew? Mijo. where are you? What's wrong?" she asked, already sounding worried already. Why else would he call unless it was an emergency?
"Mom! Nothing. I'm at Felicity's," he started, already feeling out of breath as that excitement over his news started building. "Hey, Mom! I got an owl from the Ministry today." He paused, letting the tension build for just a second before taking a deep breath and getting it out. "They accepted me. I'm supposed to report for the Academy on September first."
"Oh, my! Drew!" his mother cried out and he wasn't sure if she was happy or not until he heard her repeat the news to his sister. The sound of her voice said it all. She was not only pleased, she was bursting with pride. "We're coming back right now. We have to celebrate! Does your dad know? What did Aunt Abigail say? What did Felicity say?"
Drew was too busy being relieved by his mom's reaction to answer right away. What was even more pleasing was she had referred to his girlfriend by name instead of calling her "that girl."
"I just sent an owl to Dad. Felicity's really happy for me," he answered, not sure what Aunt Abigail had thought considering he had pretty much run out of the house with out really telling her. Still, he had a good idea that she knew ans what was more, that she was proud as well.

"Dad!" Felicity groaned annoyed by her father's assumptions. While he had good reason to believe what he did, she didn't think he had the right to just assume, without checking first, that she was lying about the whereabouts of her boyfriend. She'd been honest, saying he was still downstairs and that she'd gone up to send a letter on her own. Her mum insisted Felicity was honest, her dad refused to listen. "Drew's downstairs, using the phone. I told him he could, and should, call his mum about the good news and he asked me if I could send off a letter to his father for him while he used the phone. We both know he isn't allowed up here anymore."
"He shouldn't have been allowed up here to begin with," Ib started, glancing at his wife. He had been highly unimpressed by his wife's decision to allow the boy upstairs to begin with, just what had she been thinking when she knew the rule? No mixture of genders upstairs together.
"And I apologized for that then and since, Jacob," Meadow answered, as frustrated as the other two. "I doubt he's up here, so why don't we at least check downstairs before you decide to raise more anger than anything else?"

Drew spoke briefly with his sister and then with his mother again, verifying that they'd send him word once they got back in London. He wasn't exactly sure what they were going to do after that, but knew his parents would probably want to discuss things and possibly make reservations somewhere.
Telling his mother he loved her, he hung the phone back in its cradle and leaned against the counter, wondering what was taking Felicity so long. He had been sure she'd finish sending the owl before he would finish the phone call.

All the way down the stairs, Ib grumbled, and not to himself. He knew it was wrong to send Felicity off to a boarding school he knew nothing of, to allow her to have two dates her first break home, to allow her to continue seeing this boy she insisted she had feelings for that she really knew nothing of. Everything about this part of her life was wrong and no one could see it but him.
Stomping down the stairwell, he was sure he wouldn't find that kid in their hall at the telephone, he'd find him sneaking around the back stairs, down from visiting Felicity upstairs. Ib could easily see through this boy's intentions, the way he looked at his daughter, the way he changed his posture in her presence, that stupid-ass grin on his face. Everything about it was wrong, and what was more? He was more than certain he taught his daughter how to lie and they had done much more than she was fessing up to. After all, they were in a school together, where an eye couldn't be constantly kept on them, it was all too easy.
Following her dad down the stairs, she prayed Drew didn't leave the telephone yet, was still on it, but at least by it. All they needed was for her dad to think anything other than the truth when they hadn't done anything, not even a good kiss after her parents had left. Well, every kiss was good with him in her opinion, but it wasn't good enough for the news he had for her.
"See dad? Drew's right there, where I told you he was!" Felicity suddenly said, annoyed, flustered, angered. Why couldn't he just back off about Drew? Everyone else seemed to like him, other than Jacob and Cherry, but her mum liked him, and her sisters, and Harold, and Freddy even thought he was keen.

Drew stood up straighter when Mr. Hjort came in. He wasn't sure why, just that he didn't think he should be slouching against the man's countertops. He was a little confused by Felicity's assertions, not quite sure where else he would be expected to be. Though he had been in the Hjort house a number of times, he wasn't about to wander around by himself. Heck, he didn't even go to the bathroom without asking permission first.
He looked at Felicity who was starting to get upset, and then at her father who seemed to already be there. Smiling nervously, he looked at Felicity again and wondered what had happened that made her seem so annoyed. He didn't give much thought as to why her dad was angry. Drew had quickly discovered that the man was always angry whenever he came over.
