Squealing with joy when her feet lifted off the ground, she was glad Drew set her right back after her dad walked in. After all, it wasn't a good idea to set him off when he'd been in such a great mood so far that day. That morning, he'd even been singing in the shower, which was different. Maybe it was just an act, to show he had faith in God's hands with his wife's condition, but any way it went, he seemed a lot happier.
"Afternoon," the older man tagged on gruffly once more. But his concern was over his wife, whether she was exhausted after watching over the boy, for who knew how long, and if she needed a rest or not. Quietly speaking in whispers with Meadow, Ib left one eye on the younger couple, while all other body language pointed to his wife's feelings.
"I wasn't expecting you today," Felicity giggled softly, adding a touch of pressure to Drew's hand. While they didn't always make plans to see one another, and she could usually expect him to be around, it was always a nice surprise when there'd been no definite plans made and he just happened to happen by and stop in.

With most of the man's attention on Mrs. Hjort, Drew felt safe focusing all of his on Felicity. It wasn't like he was going to kiss her right there in the kitchen (at least not with her parents right there), but he felt a little more at ease even though he knew her dad was still watching.
"I know," he answered with a wide grin. "I wanted to see you. Is that okay?" he asked, pulling his acceptance letter from his pocket and handing it over to her to see what she'd say about it.

"Of course it is silly," she grinned in answer. "It wouldn't be all right, however, if you didn't want to see me." And though she knew she had moments where she was so angry with him she didn't want to see him, in the end she also knew she would always want to see him, especially at the end of the day. And though her attention was on Drew, she could also see and hear the slight concern in her dad as he worried over her mum.
As Drew passed the letter off to her hands, she carefully took it, not entirely sure what it was. Gently shaking the letter out, she refused to let go of her boyfriend's hand as she absorbed the words and meaning in what he handed her.
Slowly, ever so slowly, her light brown eyes widened and pretty little mouth formed an "o" as her jaw dropped. The information was rather overwhelming, not entirely surprising, but all too exciting. Making a squealing noise, she screamed in delight as her body instantly turned toward his and her arms wrapped around his neck, clinging right onto him her feet lifted from the floor. She couldn't even finds words to express how she felt.

Drew's grin grew wider as she reacted exactly as he had been hoping she would. His arms went immediately around her waist, happy to carry her once again. He knew it wouldn't last too long with her mom and dad right there, but maybe at least Mrs. Hjort would understand the enthusiasm once he announced it to them.
"I got my acceptaqnce letter into the Academy," he told her parents, resisting the urge to happy dance while he was still holding her. He gave a sheepish smile to Mrs. Hjort, feeling a little guilty for not telling her after spending all afternoon with her, but he had really wanted to tell Felicity first.

It had finally come, and though Felicity hadn't been too worried about Drew not receiving the letter, she was happy and relieved it had finally been sent. It meant he could finally relax and not worry about not making it into the academy, though now he would be worried about getting through the academy, and she still had the utmost faith that he would be perfectly fine. He was extremely talented, and determined, as well as practiced. The Academy would be happy to have him, as he would be an asset, she was sure.
And how nice it felt to be in his arms, even if she could feel the glaring daggers of her father's looks boring right through her to Drew. Every time he put his arms around her, she felt like she was where she belonged, and this time was no exception.
"Congratulations, dear," Meadow added, after the slight shock of Felicity's shrieks. The older woman wasn't in the least bit put off that Andrew hadn't said a word to her, but she was excited for him, and immediately moved her husband to the side so she could give the younger man a congratulatory hug...once her daughter stopped clinging to him, of course. And in the few steps, she grabbed a hold of Ib's arm to force him to at least shake hands. Though he wouldn't understand until it was explained further, there was no reason not to be happy about this moment. At least the man could stop worrying that her daughter was with someone without a job for now.
The movements behind her made Felicity aware that they were being watched, and though she desired to kiss her boyfriend badly, she was well aware of the implications such a slight movement would bring. It would have to wait a bit longer. Releasing Drew, she stepped off to his side, standing right under his arm, hers around him while her mum shook her head gently at her daughter, but managed to get a hug in anyway. And Ib held his hand out awkwardly, still not sure what he was doing, nor why he was doing what he was.

Felicity loosened her hold on him and Drew reluctantly did the same, knowing it was probably for the best since her folks were right there. As much as he really wanted to celbrate with a kiss, he knew it would have to wait.
Mrs. Hjort hugged him and he felt it was almost as good as getting a hug from his own mom. Of course, he wasn't exactly sure how his own mother would respond, having made her concerns about his carreer choice very clear. Drew would have to worry about it later. In the mean time, he shook Mr. Hjort's offered hand, smiling nervously as he worried the man might chuck him out of the house for his contact with Felicity.

The beaming smile on Felicity's adoring face as she gazed up at her love was all Ib needed to affirm that apparently this thing he was congratulating the boy over wasn't something he was going to like. It must have meant something that was good for them, or him, but in the end, in their thoughts, for them. And judging the feeling of unfamiliarity he had over what the boy was speaking of, it meant it was something not from his world.
The handshake went well enough, and Felicity could see her dad's forearm tense slightly as his grip formed around Drew's hand. It looked hearty enough, though it also looked like a bit of pressure was used on her dad's end of the shake. Maybe she was just making things up, but she thought her dad was squeezing just a tad harder than necessary. It didn't matter though, because Drew was finally able to say he was in and that meant he had a chance at getting a job in the career choice he had made a long time ago.
"You're going to have to tell Harold," Felicity announced, still grinning ecstatically. "He'll be so happy, and likely wanting to give a few tips," she giggled, doubting most of his muggle teachings would do too much in the magical areas of the world. But maybe. Besides, being in the law enforcement was respectable, and she couldn't remember her dad saying anything about law enforcement not being the kind she was allowed to be happy with when she was younger and he used to tell her what kind of a man she could marry. Drew was awfully close to fulfilling all the requirements.

As Mr. Hjort gripped his hand, Drew felt the extra pressure. It made him feel somewhat uncomfortable, not from any pain, but just from the obvious message it sent. Drew didn't need the reminder that he was an unwelcome guest in the man's house.
When her father dropped his hand, he rubbed it self-consciously, smilling back at Felicity as got caught up in her giddiness. "Yeah?" he answered, not even realizing until then that Harold might want to hear about it. "You think he'd really give me some pointers?" Sure, it was Muggle law enforcement, but Drew was positive that a lot of it would carry over. Bad guys were still bad guys.

"Absolutely," she nodded quickly. "He was quite interested in what you'd told him last year at camp and has been wondering what advice he could give from the point of view of someone in law enforcement. He just wasn't sure how well it would carry over so he's been thinking long and hard about it all, but once you tell him, I'm sure he'll start spitting information out like a leaking well."
Felicity's face was all lit up and her eyes sparkled at knowing the letter had finally come, and though he could tell, Ib was glad she hadn't reacted as she might normally. He hated to yell at her, didn't mind so much with the boy, but if she was the one starting it, he could only yell so much at the boy. The young lady's first instinct was usually to jump and hug and latch, but she'd used quite a bit of restraint, and he could tell.
"Ib?" Meadow started suddenly. "Would you mind taking a look at the fan in our room? I think something may be wrong with it and I've had it unplugged all day, and I know how you hate when it's terribly warm at night." Actually, she hadn't unplugged anything, but she thought it would be easy enough to sneak in a moment before him and unplug it to make her intentions look pure, but really she wanted to hand a moment to Felicity and Drew, since she wouldn't likely be allowed out that night.

"Okay!" Drew answered excitedly, thinking that any advice he could get would be helpful. Of course, there would be differences between Muggle and Magical ways, but Drew was sure the basic principles would still hold across the cultures. He was looking forward to picking Harold's brain and wondered when he'd get the chance to speak to the man.
After months of walking on eggshells, not really knowing what layh in his future, never sure what the reaction would be when he told people of his plans, it felt glorious to share the news with Felicity. Her excitement mirrored his own and he loved her even more than ever for it.
He wasn't even aware that Mrs. Hjort had spoken. He was lost in Felicity's bright brown eyes and restraining himself from kissing her when she looked so amazing.

Drew's excitement only fueled the blonde's and she squeezed his hand a little tighter. Though, she heard her mum talking to her dad and she prayed he'd let them stay in the kitchen, alone, for a moment at least. At the rate things were going, she'd wouldn't be able to properly ever celebrate with him until she was eighty years old, and by then he'd have found someone who could celebrate. And if they were to ever marry, and honeymoon, she was sure her dad would find a way to take a family vacation right along with them.
Ib gave a grunt, not ready to leave, but at his wife's urging, knowing she was just as uncomfortable with the heat, he followed, though kept glancing over his shoulder as she took him up the back stairs.
Light brown eyes on Drew, Felicity's focus remained on her parents as they traveled to the next floor, thanking her mum for everything at that moment.
"Congratulations," she announced again, this time stepping closer to Drew, her complete focus on his eyes, falling directly into them.

It was only when her parents moved to leave that Drew actually realized he was going to have a few moments alone with Felicity. He wasn't so concered about where they were going or why they were leaving, but wondered mostly about how long they'd be gone. He didn't think too much about it, prefering to focus instead on the girl next to him.
With her parents gone, she moved closer to him and as Drew felt her warmth against him, those good old butterflies started acting up again. Looking into her eyes, he felt that familiar giddiness and though he had often gazed into those deep pools of brown, it still made him as pleasantly nervous as it had that time under the tree two years ago. "Thanks," he said softly. "I wanted to tell you first before anyone else."

"Really?" she asked, slightly surprised. It made her feel special that he saved such good news for her, that he wanted to share it with her so badly that he was willing to wait for her to arrive home to announce such a thing to her. He'd done with his head boy badge, and now this. It was amazing. "I knew you'd get your letter. You're too good not to get one, and you've wanted to be one for so long, it wouldn't be right to turn you away, especially when you've worked so hard for it."
Grabbing at both his hands, Felicity laced her fingers with his, gently swinging them between their bodies. While she really, really, really wanted to congratulate him in a way she thought to be proper, she also wanted to be sure her dad really wasn't right at the top of the stairwell just waiting for them. She only needed to wait and hear the creak to know he'd gone into his room to be absolutely sure of it. And in the meanwhile, she was content to just look into his pretty blue eyes while time passed.

He thought it was awfully cute that she was surprised he had waited to tell her first. For him, it had been a no brainer and while he had really felt bad keeping it from Mrs. Hjort all afternoon (and his mom would probably be pretty mad he hadn't called her right away), he coulnd't imagine telling anyone else before he had told Felicity.
With her fingers interlocked with his, he could keep her close and just stare into those soft honey brown eyes. Just the way she was looking up at him, he could tell she was proud of him and that knowledge made him feel absolutely amazing. "So you going to be okay dating an Auror?" he asked, knowing he had a few years before he was official, but still, he liked the sound of it.

When he asked whether she'd be all right with his career and still being her boyfriend, she smiled. Felicity was sure he knew she'd be all right with whatever he chose, as long as it was what he wanted. If he was happy, then she'd be happy, and had told him often enough that very bit. As long as he still wanted to be with her and was happy, then she'd be the same. Not that she thought her life ran around him, but at the same time, he was an awfully big part of her little life, and held a big part of her heart too.
"I'd be all right dating a sewage worker, as long as that sewage worker was you," she answered softly. It didn't matter what he was, she'd still be in love with him. A moment earlier, she'd finally heard that little squeak in the floorboards, and so had no problem leaning in closer to let her lips touch his for a moment.
