"Nice to meet you, Ivy." Baal was about to introduce himself when Drew did it for him. He wasn't exactly sure what to do, so he waited. He was good a that. He knew how to sit back and shut up and let others do the talking. Noticing the way Ivy was clutching Drew and Drew's slightly protective body language, Baal wondered if this was the snowglobe girlfriend.
"So, are you two..."

She gave Baal a small smile, "It's nice to meet you too, sir." He wasn't so bad, it seemed. Besides, she kind of liked how he looked different. It was kind of cute in a gnome-like way. She was also kind of glad that this man didn't know who she was. Maybe he could take her more seriously than other people who automatically dismissed Ivy as some dumb model.
Ivy blinked at Baal for a second, "Are we what..?" she said, not understanding his implications. She looked at Drew, to see if she was the only one out of the loop.

"No... no!" Drew cried out in wide-eyed protest, knowing exactly what Baal was driving at. His girlfriend was absolutely perfect while Ivy just thought she was. There was no way he'd ever get involved with a girl so full of herself that she probably kissed herself goodnight in the mirror.
"Ivy's just... uh... just a friend..." he said, thought that definitely wasn't the right word. Her younger sister Ash had been way better as a friend. Ivy had just been a pain in the ass, but he didn't think it was appropriate to introduce her as such.

Baal was surprised that Ivy didn't get it, or maybe she did and it was true and she was playing stupid because she didn't want to tell him. Then Drew answered so wholeheartedly. Baal had no reason not to believe him, but his hesitance about calling her his friend made him wonder. He decided to back off, though, because if they were together they obviously didn't want to tell him.
"Good book?" He indicated the book that Drew had been reading.

"We're not just friends!" Ivy whined, thinking they were much closer than that. "We go waaaaaay back!" She winked at Baal, hoping that he'd catch her drift that Drew and Ivy were pretty much best friends forever. He was like her Nicole Richie, except that Drew wasn't some b*tch who backstabbed people. Ivy was still holding Drew's hand, and snapped a waiter over, and ordered another sandwich since she ruined Drew's other one.
"So Baal-- what are you doing here? You smell different... like another country," she said, sniffing at him savagely. She always thought that China smelled like medicine, and the U.S. smelled like grease. He smelled like he came from somewhere tropical-- perhaps Ecuador?

Yup. Pain in the ass was definitely a better term for Ivy, but again, Drew wasn't about to call a lady something like that... even an obnoxious one like the girl sitting next to him.
She protested his terminology, which he thought had been overly generous and summoned the waiter like her own personal slave. "No, that's okay. Just another butterbeer please," Drew told the man, giving him an apologetic look. Snowflake was busy enjoying the fallen sandwich and Drew was happy to forgo his own lunch and hopefully make a quicker escape.
"Book... Yeah... good," Drew told Baal, showing the man the title and giving him a look that hopefully said he was welcome to ignore Ivy's lunatic ramblings. Was she actually smelling the guy? Even Drew's dog looked up, cocked her head, and gave the super model an odd sort of look. She had never seen humans do that before.

Baal thought it was a little bit strange that she was smelling him, but he shook it off. Everyone has their quirks.
"Well, I got back from Brazil recently, but I have showered since then. Maybe you're smelling the coffee. My friend gave me a whole bunch of locally grown beans while I was there. Nothing like South American coffee beans."

"Why were you in Brazil?" Ivy questioned earnestly. "I was in Brazil for a photoshoot-- did you go to Sao Paulo? There were so many good looking guys in that city. Hated the transportation however, had to wait for ages just to get a lousy taxi."
A bright idea popped into Ivy's head, "Drew! We should go traveling to find me a husband!" There was a part of her that thought that Drew would protest, but she had ways to make him go. She could probably knock him unconscious with her posse, and then stuff him in a trunk in which he couldn't apparate from. Yes, that was a good idea: kidnapping!
"Honestly, chivalry is dead. If I've learned anything from modeling it's this: men only want to get... you-know-what." she wiggled her eyebrows up and down. "Especially since I'm a model... everyone is so quick to judge me. Everyone just thinks I'm just a piece of meat. I've been wishing for some knight on a white horse to come and sweep me off my feet, but I doubt he'll ever come."
She looked down for a bit, feeling a tinge of sadness before taking a deep breath and looking at Drew. "This is why it's important for you to help me, Drew." She held his hand even tighter.

"No, I stayed more in the northwestern part of the country. I had to help out a fiend of mine who had some trouble with some animals living there. I told Drew about it, I believe."
It had been a really long story, and Baal didn't feel like telling it all again, especially when one of his two audience members had already heard the whole thing.
He found it really hard to keep a straight face during all of this talk of finding a "knight" and getting married and all of that. She couldn't have been thirty yet, and her "biological clock is ticking." But he managed not to laugh again.
"Did you say photoshoot?"

"Yeah, I don't think so," Drew answered Ivy under his breath. He had plenty of work to keep him around London and any time off was already spoken for. He really didn't have time to go on a wild goose... er, husband chase for Ivy. Besides, he didn't think his girlfriend would take too kindly to the idea of him going off to Brazil with a super model. They had nude beaches there...
Drew nodded as Baal mentioned the story, though Drew wouldn't have minded hearing it again. It had been pretty good and had taken up most of his letter to Felicity that night.

"Yes-- I'm a model..." Ivy said, whispering in case anyone heard her. A few people had already recognized her-- which wasn't a problem, but Ivy was trying to make an effort to lay low for a while. Her whole life she craved the attention and love that she was getting now, but all she wanted to do was have a private life where her dates didn't consist of running away from cameras and getting frustrated with the tabloids.
"So were you able to help out your friend?" Ivy had learned to ask questions about other people. Before she was so consumed in herself that she didn't care what other people did. However, she realized that other people were actually quite interesting.
She didn't hear Drew answer her plea, and in her mind she began to plan out their itinerary. They would start out in London and then maybe go to Greece... and then maybe Tokyo...

"A model, hmm?" Baal tried to keep his tone as low as Ivy's. She obviously didn't want publicity. He wondered what it would be like to have that kind of burden on your privacy. He would go insane. Not that he could ever be a model, anyway.
"Yes, I was. It took quite a bit of time, but we were able to solve the problem and get it all taken care of quite nicely. It did take a couple of months, though."

Drew smiled and gave a small chuckle to himself as he remembered the story, still finding that image of flame-throwing capybaras pretty funny. Of course, he wouldn't have thought it so funny if he had been smack in the middle of it. He also wasn't entirely convinced that Ivy would appreciate the story as much as he had.
He smirked a little as Ivy tried to be all secretive about her occupation. While he didn't think anyone should be hounded and hassled like she had just been, she didn't try too hard to be inconspicuous and low key. It was Ivy after all.
