[ Physical Character Description: ]
So the looks. Brandon knows he’s good-looking and he knows that he does use it to his advantage, but never in a million years would he admit it. His features really don’t do his personality justice. With the hard-core bad ass image he tries to portray, his body betrays him. Brandon’s got soft features, and even a boyish grin. His cheekbones are high and defined, but are really the only thing that sticks out. His skin is fairly dark in colour, which he gets from his father. Brandon’s body shape (and height; 5’11”) and most of his features he got from his father, except for his eyes. He’s got his mother’s chocolate brown eyes and his father’s disastrously curly and unforgiving hair.
Even though they were triplets, Brandon was still the smallest of the brothers. He wanted to be as strong as them (although he never could really because he didn’t know their strength was supernatural) and so Brandon worked out as much as he could to try and keep up with them. He’s still smaller than his two brothers, but Brandon is in really good shape; the kind of shape one would need to be in to play Quidditch which he loves to do.
Brandon doesn’t ever really dress down. His “casual” is a dress shirt and nice pants. Rarely does he just hang around in a t-shirt and jeans, but it does happen. He doesn’t really find his style all that different and he hates having to really dress up in a suit and tie. He was raised to look presentable at all times, so that and a cloak suits him just fine. His favourite colours are midnight blue and (naturally) black so his wardrobe consists mainly of these combinations.
[ Personality Character Description: ]
Broad shoulders, closed mind. Not exactly a traditional or orthodox way of describing someone, but it certainly suits Brandon best. Brandon has never really been one to accept others ideas, often shooting them down before he even hears them. He doesn’t like being wrong and he hates mistakes. The worst possible thing that someone can do to Brandon is point out a mistake he’s made. Not exactly the way to get on his “good” side. There is a good side to this boy it’s just incredibly difficult to see.
One thing about Brandon that people just can’t argue is his loyalty. Even when his brothers were turning into monsters, he was still loyal and still by their side. Never would he betray anyone in his family. Not anything big at least. The most betrayal Brandon has ever commited was not going to Hogwarts, which really wasn’t that big of a deal. Brandon was raised in a way that you can’t forget and he wouldn’t be able to betray a family member or an extremely close friend, even if he wanted to. While he puts up the proud, pure blood, better than everyone else guard, Brandon still does have a softer side that you might get to see, once you get to know him. He does have a conscience, and one that is incredibly aware of his actions because it kicks in an awful lot.
Rebellion. It wasn’t always a factor in Brandon’s personality, but as of late, teenage hormones have kicked in more (and not to mention the whole parents-convieniantly-forgot-to-mention-that-his-brothers-were-monsters thing) and has turned Brandon into a bit of a rebel. Although he would never really do anything major to betray his family, Brandon likes to break the rules and defy his parents as much as he can. He’s bitter about the fate of his brothers and still hasn’t forgiven his parents just yet. When he matures, he’ll realize that it was for the best that they were all kept in the dark, but right now Brandon’s angry about it.
Deep down, really, really, really deep down, Brandon can be nice. If he wants to. If by some miraculous chance you do get on Brandon’s good side, he can actually be a really nice and caring guy. He’s even got a sweet side to him and most people don’t believe him when he’s trying to be sincere. Once you get to know him and can get past the shield he feels he needs to put up, one can really start to like him. His loyalty is unquestionable, which is pretty much all he’s got going for him. That and his dashingly handsome looks. Not that he really cares about that or anything…
Brandon’s not really a big talker. He doesn’t like to talk about himself and he’s really hard to get to know. He doesn’t like letting his guard down and he doesn’t like letting people get close. Brandon’s got a bit of a trust issue now that his parents kept the truth from him for so long. As much as he’d like to, Brandon just doesn’t want to let people close, out of fear that they might learn about his family and judge them. The boy is very protective of his family and doesn’t want their reputation being ruined.
Despite his lack of vocals, when he does speak, Brandon is a charmer. He knows how to sweet talk and knows what people want to hear. He's particularly skilled at reading people and can often tell what they're thinking, or at least he can have a general idea. He was always good at reading his brothers, but perhaps that was because they were all each other really had. His family was rich, but the boys didn't have many friends except each other. The togetherness is another reason why Brandon is good at reading people, because he learned quickly how to read his family.
[ History: ]
The Blazon clan had been a widely known family for many centuries. Dating back to the early seasons of the fifth century, the once called Blazon family was a family of warriors, but also a family touched by a curse. At the beginning of the fifth century, Alexander Blazon, the beginning of a new Blazon clan, married a woman by the name of Isolde Embers, just in time for a plague to ravage his village. The Blazon family had been accused of witchcraft and so it only seemed fitting that it was this family who caused the plague, as if they had intended on taking over their village. In fear, the Blazons fled to another town, changing their name to Blaze in hope that it would hide their identity.
For centuries, the Blaze clan kept their identities secret, until another tragedy struck their village. On the night that three young Blaze boys were born in the safety of their small house, creatures of the night destroyed the town. One of the sons was bitten by a wolf; a wolf of a different breed. The other two sons remained untainted, living their lives as a pure blooded wizards. The werewolf son, Amos, soon became too strong to control. Not able to contain his savage ways, Amos Blaze was set out into the night to become the creature he was.
What was unknown to the rest of the family except the three boys was that no matter what the one had become, they were still a band of brothers. Intent on staying together to matter what, Amos, Jeremiah and the third wizard son, Michael made a pact, sharing the blood of one another. The ancient magic of the pact was so strong that even the boys didn’t know what they had done. The magic had backfired somehow and young Michael put a terrible curse on the rest of his bloodline, and the rest of the Blaze clan.
As the centuries carried on, so did the tradition of the Blaze bloodline. For all eternity, when children are born into the Blaze family there were boys only. Triplets ran in the family, but it was exceptionally rare for the tradition to continue for more then one generation. The family seemed destined to be big, but the werewolf bloodlines were soon forgotten. It seemed as if it was simply an unfortunate accident, highly unlikely that it would happen again. However, many centuries later, the Blaze clan fell on hard times again. In the case of one Brandon Blaze, he was fortunate enough to stay unaffected and a wizard much like his father.
On the 17th of a cold December evening, Brandon and Theo Blaze were born to Aaron and Isabel Blaze. Theo was born first; 11:42 and next came Brandon at 11:50. As children, the two boys seemed to be the same on the outside, but on the inside, they were incredibly different. Brandon was raised as a proud pure-blood wizard, as was his brother. He was taught to hold his head high and be proud of his heritage, although he wasn't exactly quite sure what it was just yet. Still, he had a fairly normal childhood, never being denied anything he wanted and living in a ridiculously large mansion. Brandon never really had to do anything for himself but he had always been a bit rebellious and sometimes refused to let the house elves look after him. He was incredibly hardheaded and independent and never took “no” for an answer.
Things like flying broomsticks and magic potions created by his parents became normality for Brandon. Brandon and his brother appeared to be normal boys and were all interested in the Dark Arts. Rumours of his family history had been circulating after a visit from one of Brandon’s grandfather’s who was a bit off his rocker. He told the boys a story of the Blazon clan and the troubles they’d faced. For years as a child, Brandon tried digging through family archives; books upon books of family history and family trees in the library, searching for more information than what his grandfather had told him. Still, he found nothing. Until he came across one book at he assumed his father had meant to hide. On the topmost shelf of the bookcase in the very back of the vast family library, Brandon found a story, believing it was just a folktale of a clan called the Blazons. Story after story of werewolves and vampires did Brandon read, becoming more interested in the dark side of things until he was caught by his father. He was ordered never to go looking for that book again, but curiosity got the better of this young lad and he wasn't going to leave that book unfinished. Brandon tried many times to find it again, but he was never able to locate it. Little did he know that his questions would soon be answered, as his 11th birthday, the birthday he shared with his brothers, would answer everything.
On the 17th of December, 11 years after Brandon and his brother were born, they realize just how different they were. The boys had been out playing a game of hide and seek in the dark, just for the thrill. In the surrounding forest of their family, Theo went missing, while Brandon desperately searched for him. Stumbling out of the trees at 11:42, Theo had been bitten by a werewolf. Brandon hadn’t seen it happen, only what was happening afterwards. He watched his brother in pain as the insides of his body began to change their outsides and reveal the monster within. It was then that Brandon knew his life would change forever.
Having received a letter from Hogwarts (all the Blaze wizards had gone there of course, flying the proud green and silver of Salazar Slytherin), Brandon refused to go, not wanting to leave his brother. He had been raised to put family first, no matter what, but now everything was changing and taking him away from everything he knew. As a child, playing with his brother was an every day thing and now he was learning that he’d never see him again. The shock was, to say the least, a big one. However, when he realized the devastation his brothers had been causing because of their inability to control their natural urges, Brandon knew it was time to let go. He chose to attend a magical school, but refused to go to Hogwarts. He was angry at his parents for keeping him away from all this, and for taking his brother from him . Brandon knew he had to get back at them by breaking a tradition. Instead, Brandon attended Durmstrang Institute and became incredibly involves and intrigued by the Dark Arts. Unfortunately, even at a school like Durmstrang, a mind for the Dark Arts like Brandon had was unacceptable. No other magical schools wanted to take such a young man, except for one. The offer to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry was still open and reluctantly, Brandon decided he was going to have to call this place home.
[ Special talents/knacks : ]
The Dark Arts are pretty much Brandon’s forte. He’s fascinated by dark creatures, especially vampires and werewolves, now that he knows about his family. If he had the chance, Brandon would gladly turn himself into either of those if it meant he got to be with his brothers again, but it doesn’t seem as though that would happen anytime in the near future. His love for the Dark Arts is much greater than the urge to become a monster, so that’s what he focuses on more. In school, he achieves his highest grades in Defense Against the Dark Arts and Charms. He knows the Unforgivable Curses inside and out, but he’d never admit that to anyone either. Brandon is quite aware of the legal limitations and would never actually use the Unforgivables unless a family member was in peril.
[Role Playing Example:]
I’m surrounded by idiots, Brandon thought to himself, sitting in the courtyard of Durmstrang Institute. His cloak was wrapped and fastened tighten around his broad shoulder, sheltering him from the cold wind that had picked up. Watching a few younger students just to the left of him, Brandon Blaze rolled his eyes. The students were threatening to curse each other, although neither of the boys were making the first move. A circle of jeers and taunts had formed around the students, blocking Brandon’s view. For a moment he was fine, not wanting to see it anymore but curiosity got the better of him and the boy stood, walking silently over to the group.
A smug look appeared on Brandon’s face as he continued to watch the dramatic events unfolding in front of him. The two boys threatening each other couldn’t have been older than 12 and it appeared that neither of them could actually cast a curse properly. There was an opening in the crowd between Brandon and the boys, and Brandon’s wand poked its way through. Muttering a harmless curse, a flash of light protruded from the wand and soon both boys were clucking like chickens. A roar of laughter, Brandon in the lead, erupted from the gathered group and it began to disband, leaving Brandon standing there with the clucking students, feeling quite superior.
“Idiots,” he muttered to himself, turning on his heel and gliding away, “Total idiots.”
