Accepted! Welcome to Hogwarts!
[ Full Character Name: ]Katherine "Kitty" Smith
[ Character Gender: ] Female
[Character Age:]62
[ Position: ] Caretaker
[ Country of Citizenship: ] United Kingdom
[ Physical Character Description: ]Age does not set limits on the personality, but rather only on the body. Kitty is an older woman, with pizzazz. Age has taken a minor effect on her appearance, but nothing major. A few wrinkles have dug their way onto her rather pasty face. Her hair is naturally wavy, hence Kitty’s decision to keep it thus. The less hassle, the better, in other words.
Usually Mrs. Alibrandi will only have a very light layer of light-colored make-up, to cover any marks that come with her age. If she were forced to name one part of her body that she liked, her answer would simply be ‘Eyes.’ With good reason too. Her eyes are a shade of brilliant blue, which nearly shimmers when in the light. In contrast they seem to glow while in the dark, casting a faint glow.
She is your average height for older women, around five and half feet. Kitty isn’t fat, nor is she really skinny. She is slightly pudgy and has a good set of jowls. One will always find Kitty in some sort of dress or skirt. She is a tradionalist when it comes to clothing. The only jewelry she wears is a silver cross around her neck and her wedding ring. Her signature feature is that she is always walking with the support of a wooden cane. Does she need the cane? No. But she finds it a very lovely accessory.
[ Personality Character Description: ]Kitty is a very independent woman. She has no mind to let anybody tell her what to do, especially a man. The woman is quite the feminist. As the Matriarch of the family, Kitty demands a little bit of respect. She has lived this long and feels that she deserved a little bit of respect back.
Kitty is rather eccentric. She always was, even during her school years. She didn't turn with the rest of the world. She doesn’t expect the world to turn with her, either. She simply lives and lets live. It is not her place to change people. This hardly means that she doesn't voice her opinions, she does, in fact. She is quite an out-spoken person when it comes to her thoughts and beliefs.
But above all, Kitty is loyal. She tries her best to make a wonderful impression upon everybody. She tries to not feel ill towards anybody. In today's world, it is rather hard for a person not to feel ill towards others. With this said, she isn't always a ball of sunshine. She knows how she wants things and will do what she needs to get them done. The woman is hardly afraid to enforce the rules and use a little bit of discipline if needed.
[ History: ] Kitty Smith was born to mixed blood parents, both herbologists. Kitty had a relatively normal childhood with three brothers and a sister. She grew up watching her parents in the gardens or the greenhouses and developed a love of nature early in her life. When she was eleven, she was sent her letter of invitation to Hogwarts and was sorted into Hufflepuff House, her mother’s alma mater.
Kitty graduated from Hogwarts with outstanding and excellent grades. Her lowest N.E.W.T. was an above average in Divination, a course she was not particularly fond of anyway. The young woman wanted to go into the field of herbology. She continued her education via an apprenticeship with her former herbology professor. When she was finished with her apprenticeship, she moved to London to find a job involving her love of plants.
She did not find such a job in London. She was, however, offered the opportunity to travel around the world studying plants with a group of magical nuns from Hogsmeade. Kitty agreed and spent the next twenty years traveling the world with the nuns. She traveled to such places as Iceland, Holland, China, and Aruba studying the individual particularities of the native plants.
When the projected ended, Kitty returned to England searching for a job involving herbology. She did not find one at Hogwarts, finding her old professor dead and replaced with one of her former classmates. The woman did find a job teaching herbology at a small school in Ireland. She held this position until just recently, taking a retirement from teaching.
The woman desired to be closer to her home, England, and still be in contact with students while not teaching. A job opening at Hogwarts for Caretaker seemed to bit her in the fanny. She applied and was hired, thus beginning a new chapter in her life.
[ Special talents/knacks : ] Kitty has an amazing green thumb. She is also talented at knitting and baking. Magically, however, she is rather plain, aside from potions, which is good at.
[Writing/Role Playing Example:]
The birds were singing and the sun was beginning to rise above the trees of the Forbidden Forest. Inside the small hut that served as the office and sanctuary of the Ground’s Keeper, a magical photo of a Knight was yelling and waving his arms. “Madam! Madam! Do wake up! Madam! Madam!”
The occupant of the nice, soft bed shoved in the corner of the hut mumbled a few obscenities before sitting up in her yellow night gown and looking at the photo. “Yes, Edmund?” She said, half-awake and wiping the sleep dust out of her eyes.
“Madam Katherine. Good morning. The Headmistress has asked me to inform you that there is a very large and very nasty weasel running about the school yard. She has asked me to inform you of this menace with the hopes that you would…well… do whatever it is you do with things like this.” The Knight nodded and slipped his visor down, pulling it up quickly to speak once more. “Unless you have anything to say to her, I shall return to my slumbers. Godspeed, Madam.” The Knight slipped his visor down and in a few moments began to snore rather loudly.
“Well then…” Kitty said, zipping the zipper of a brown tweed skirt. She quickly buttoned up her tan, tweed sweater and put her brown witch’s hat atop her white hair. She then placed her wand in the pocket of her skirt and slipped on a pair of old brown boots, quickly fastening the clips.
The Ground’s Keeper set out with her wooden cane out in front. Hopefully she could scare the brute back into the Forest, where it most-certainly came from. The woman heard a high-pitched scream and quickly followed the noise until she spotted her prey. The weasel had chased a First Year girl up a tree.
Kitty smiled at the girl and nodded with a wink. She then neared the weasel. “There, there, dear.” She spoke in a soft British accent. “Back into the forest you go.” The animal growled and turned towards the Ground’s Keeper. “I would not advise getting snippy with me, you brute!” She said, pulling her wand from her pocket. The weasel leapt into the air with it’s teeth bared. Kitty pointed her wand and mumbled an incantation. With a flash of light, the weasel was frozen in the air, unable to move anything but it’s eyes.
“I warned you!” Kitty said, grabbing the animal and walking closer to the tree. “It’s all right, don’t worry, dear. He’ll be frozen for a good hour. I’ll take him back to his nest. He won’t be back.” Kitty quickly glanced at her wrist clock. “You’re missing breakfast, dear. Quick. Scoot back up to the castle. Have a peachy day!”
Kitty waved the girl on and looked down to the weasel. “Have you learned your lesson, kiddo? Good.” The woman set off towards the Forest, frozen weasel in one hand and her wand pointed out in the other. As she set off into the sea of trees, she started humming an old German tune that she learned while studying in the Rhineland
