[ Full Character Name: ] Professor Morey Jules
[ Character Gender: ] Males
[Character Age:] 42
[ Position: ] Divinations Professor at the School of Hogwarts Witchcraft and Wizardry
[ Country of Citizenship: ] Windsor, England
[ Wand: ] A Yew wand with a core of Veela hair. 8 inches long.
[ Blood type: ] Half-Blood
[ Physical Character Description: ]
Morey Jules is the type of wizard who would be incapable of blending into the Muggle world. Not due to immense dislike of Muggles, but rather, he simply cannot manage to understand their modes of fashion and dress. He would stick out like a sore thumb, or at the worst, appear to be a homeless person.
Most of the time, Morey finds comfort in mismatched shabby suit jackets and slacks. When it comes to fashion, he is particularly crippled, yet his style fits him to a T. As if it often believed, a individual's choice of clothing reflects the type of person beneath. Morey can hardly be considered wealthy, though he is not from he lower class either...despite how worn-out his clothes appear. A very beloved collection of hats, of Wizard and Muggle make alike, can be found among his more cherished possessions. Sometimes, he is even seen wearing these hats.
Chocolate brown hair, slightly tinted with auburn is often combed back neatly on his head. A style picked up from businessmen in the city that Morey found to be interesting. He shaves on a regular basis and keeps track of hygiene to the best of his ability...when he remembers. A pair of friendly, blue-grey eyes peer beneath his brow. He isn't considered to be terribly handsome, but he doesn't seem to care much about such concepts anyway. When you have a large nose, such notions disappear.
Jules isn't overtly tall, but rather of average height and build, with a bit of "cuddle-pudge" around the sides. For the most part, he is healthy, though he has been known to forget to eat meals, or becomes so engrossed into an activity, that he doesn't realize how many hours trickle by.
Another physical attribute is Morey's pet ferret, called Wednesday (named after his favorite day of the week). The ferret is extremely lethargic, and often seen draped around Morey's shoulders like a fur scarf.
[ Personality Character Description: ]
Probably the most notable characteristic about Morey Jules is his warm, friendly nature. Passive, forgetful, kind, a bit loopy but intelligent and alas, sometimes clueless. He strives on life, on the beauty of existence and nature. In many ways, he is naive. Unlike most adults, Morey has the ability to view the world from a child's perspective of innocent wonder...which is perhaps the reason he gets along well with children. In fact, Morey adores children and watching them evolve into young adults. The entire process of adolescence is fascinating to the professor, and he has dabbled a bit in psychology to better understand the workings of the young mind.
On the other hand, he finds it more difficult to relate to his co-workers and fellow adults. They often find him to be a clueless romantic and his cheerful disposition to be infuriating. Sarcasm and criticism tend to go over his head. Cruelty and hatred are so foreign to this gentleman, that he has a difficult time comprehending why anyone would be cruel to another person. Unfortunately, this also leads him to view the world through "rose colored glasses" despite having been alive during You-Know-Who's reign.
Morey is also somewhat cowardly. However, when forced to face opposition, especially if someone's life is in danger, he will take it upon himself to act. It would be better to kill or to disarm, then be responsible for an innocent victim's death. A part of him greatly fears death...as his father was killed during the Dark Lord's reign. In essence, he turned to divination in hopes to predict and therefore prevent the death of himself or others that he loves and cares about. At the time, he didn't know he had a gift for the sight, which later became evident...though he is hardly even aware of it.
He is also notably a fan of The Quibbler and is a recipient. At times, he has written articles for Xenophilius Lovegood's paper. Other hobbies include reading literature (Muggle authors included), playing chess, conversation, enjoying brandy or wine, and studying architecture.
[ History: ]
Morey Jules was born May 31, 1965 to a Victor and Echo Jules. His father was a wizard of Muggle descent, while his mother was a pure blood. At the time, there was a big uproar about pure blooded wizards intermarrying with "mud-bloods" as they were called. Echo Dawson was a very strong young woman who was not a supporter of Voldemort. Therefore, she married whom she fell in love with...which happened to be Victor Jules. It was during the "Hippie" era of free love and peace, that Morey was brought into the world. He was a bright baby, though seemed easily distracted. They weren't certain if he would prove to be a squib or a wizard. As he grew, he displayed the wizarding ability...much to his parent's relief. Morey had a curious interest in faeries and the like, and would often go out in search of them. In the public schools, he was often considered to be deranged, as many of his school projects focused on magical creatures. Luckily, these were passed off as a very vivid imagination. The school would frequently call home to inform that parents about his strange interests and behaviors.
Even at this young of an age, he experienced very vivid dreams that often predicted future events...or events occurring at other places around the world. None of them were so imminently important that they had to be recorded, but his parents did make special note of it. Morey assumed everyone had these thoughts and dreams.
At the age of 11, he was sent to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, and was sorted into Ravenclaw. Despite his seemingly clueless disposition, Jules proved to be an incredibly intelligent young man who could memorize facts and information easily. He simply couldn't remember anything of practical purpose. During his school years Voldemort came to power. Morey had no real contact with Voldemort, though he suffered through some minor unpleasant experiences with Death Eaters. During his 3rd year, Victor was killed during a Death Eater attack. For a time, Morey became withdrawn. His father's death was a difficult set back, but he managed to recover. In later years, however, he avoids discussing what happened. There is a great deal of mystery behind the incident.
After school, he decided to pursue a career as a professor. Due to the qualifications and immense dedication necessary to reach such a level of expertise, Morey decided to give up on the notion of marriage. Echo was somewhat disappointed about this decision, but could also understand why her son would make it. For the most part, she supported him in everything...and perhaps spoiled him just a tad bit after her husband's death. He is her only child, after all.
For many years he studied abroad. There was a period of about five years where he was a professor in an American school. He has also traveled to Russia, China, South Africa, and South America to study the various styles of divination. He doesn't believe any particular method is absolutely correct. Rather, exploring all of them is best when determining which one works most potentially for an individual.
( I will add more as it comes to me. )
[ Pros and Cons : ]
There are many, in this day and age, who would not consider kindness to be a notable distinction. However, for Morey, it is possibly his strongest and most endearing quality. Although he has come to dislike some people, he will never pursue another living entity with vengeance or hate. Even those who are deserving of persecution could find solace and sanctuary with this Professor. He contains a cogent gift of seeing the best in everyone, as well as in every situation. He may, indeed, be a blind optimist, but he can always find a gentle way to inspire a smile.
Another is positive characteristic is his ability to persevere. When life had thrown him into chaos, he had always chose to struggle through. Granted, most cases were not life threatening, but a test of life doesn't need to produce the possibly outcome of death to be an experience of evolution. Many times, he has been able to aid others in finding ways to see through their darker times, whether it be a loss of a family member, a lost romantic partner or bad grades.
His final, distinguishable pro is considered to be his ability of empathetically connecting with others; humans, animals and plants as well as inanimate objects. Helping and learning are his goals in life. Although he is a rather experienced and knowledgeable man, his perspective will always be that of an eternal student. Morey lacks arrogance and conceit, and therefore can easily connect with the shyer students or faculty. Additionally, due to his childhood pain, he can also connect with people of darker moods...or so he believes. Usually, if he can't, he struggles to figure out why.
Cons:
Despite his usual good intentions, Morey can come off as a bumbling, absentminded imbecile...within the presence of students as well as faculty. This sometimes render him to a less respectable status among Professors as well as students who only judge him in moments of forgetfulness. What is worse, is that he's usually oblivious to this factor, not realizing that people make fun of him. While being able to see the best in people, he often blinds himself to their more sadistic nature.
Another downfall to his personality is his refusal to accept reality. What occurred during Voldemort's time was immensely dark and evil...No one in the right mind would chose to relive that era. Since the Dark Lord is now dead, he assumes that there can't be another wizard of his evil nature. Instead of opening his eyes to the threats evident in the wizarding world, he chooses to pretend they don't exist...that is, until he is forced to accept them. This could lead to tragic results.
Finally, he lacks a back bone when it comes to intimate friendships. In childhood, he had been persuaded by close friends into cheeky adventures that ended them in detention. Although most people avoid growing too close to the Professor (due to his quirks and sometimes infuriating nature), he could easily be talked into doing certain things he wouldn't normally agree to...but only under the terms of friendship. This shows that he also trusts people to a fault, even those who might not deserve such trust.

Morey attended schooling at an Oxford extension specifically for Wizards and Witches. There he studied Divination, Psychology, the Environment and Literature. After several years of studies and additional fieldwork, he came away with the title of Professor.
His study abroad ventures lead him to various locales around the globe. He studied Shaman divination techniques cross-culturally, in places like Russia, the North American Arctic, South America, China and India. He strongly promotes the cross-cultural aspects of divination and its practice. He also served as a Professor of Divinations in the United States. He resigned from the job in hopes of obtaining the position of a professor in his own country.
[Writing/Role Playing Example:]
Green flecked orbs peered up from the leaf, touched golden as sunlight bleed through the thinner material. Morey peered at it intensely, twirling the leaf from angle to angle with mesmerized interest. He had always contained a mind fill of imaginative imagery that lead his thoughts upon a carousel ride within his psyche. This was an ordinary leaf, touched by a tree disease common in those parts of the United States. Morey, although concerned with the growing commonality of the disease, also discovered that there was an element of aesthetic beauty as well. Different shades of color, amidst different light patterns.
Hurried, clicking heals crossed the sidewalk. At first, he hadn't noticed them...or rather, had made note but found the foot fall lacking intrigue. I wonder how artists would attempt to duplicate this effect...
"Morey! Merlin's Beard!" The woman's voice caused the Professor to lift his head, blinking. Her lips were pulled into a disapproving frown. Instead of asking what was wrong with Merlin's beard, he simpled tipped his head to the side in an action of askance.
"...you look ridiculous." She murmured under her breath.
Now forgotten, the leaf tumbled from Morey's grip...drifting to the ground. Widening his eyes, the professor turned his attention toward the accused attire. "I don't see anything wrong here. This is the manner I always dress, Cheri."
"Precisely." A sigh escaped her lips. Obviously, this was a futile argument. "You might have tried to blend in more."
For the first time since he had paused to admire the leaf, Morey took his environment into observation. The streets were practically vacant, save for people on an afternoon stroll. Although he did illicit a few glances, they were of minor disdain.
"I really think you're over reacting." Despite the chide, a smile blossomed on his lips. "Did you come to see me off?"
Cheri looked toward the entrance of the airport. During his time in the States, she was the only colleague he had formed a tight, bonding friendship with. He was sorry to leave her, but it was high time that he was returning home. To England. Her red lips matched his brightened expression.
"I am rather excited! To fly...on a plane! Imagine." He shook his head in wonder. "I have heard, from Kirsten and Arnold that the flight attendees supply the riders with refreshments and food. Plus, they are given...tee-vees..." He exaggerated the pronunciation. "...for entertainment! Can you imagine, riding a broom with a tee-vee poised at the end?"
Cheri couldn't resist a chuckle. Plane flights were hardly a novelty to her. "Just remember, Morey. You are among Muggles. Muggle talk is best. I don't recommend making remarks about flying brooms while on board."
Professor Jules cast her a very curious stare. "...why in Merlin's beard would I mention flight by broom-sticks to a Muggle? That would be most foolish."
"...have a good flight, Morey. And promise to send owls. Please." She gave the British man a hug, before watching him marvel into the airport. A warning signal suggested she should attend to him, after all, he is absentminded when it comes to...life in general. Then again, he always found a way to make it through. Despite the odds. The man was full of dumb luck.
