Brittany couldn't even bring her self to look up at him. Her eyes had beheld the overwhelming sadness that overtook Sora's face. They were transfixed on his features, knowing everything with just his simple response. It felt as if a boulder had just been thrown on top of her chest. Her breath caught and it took a moment for her mind to tell her body she needed to breath. Her cold hands felt numb wrapped around the rusty chains of the swing she sat on.
It was her fault. All her fault. Everything that had happened was a result of her poor decision-making. Brittany could have taken Sora with her, or at the very least talked to him about it in person. It had been reckless. She had been rude and even disrespectful. She had done this. What could they have been? There were so many possible scenarios that she had played out in her mind before. So many different paths they could have taken. The shadow of a man that she once knew stood before her. Sora didn't even look the same. His face seemed sunken in, dark circles laid under his eyes, the color of his beautiful jade eyes seemed paler even. She couldn't imagine what had caused all of these changes. What had he been through? Where had the man she knew gone? Was there any hope that he would return? All these questions and similar ones filled her head. None she had answers for.
Brittany had to drop her eyes in order to breathe again. Her heart pounded in her chest as his question hung in the air. She didn't have an answer for him, she didn't even know where she was going in her life. How could she decide what path the two of them should take? It was another question gone unanswered. One that had to be answered eventually though. What was he truly asking? More importantly, what did he truly want?
"I don't know," Brittany answered, frustrated by her own thoughts.
There was such pressure, as if she alone had to make the decision. The indecisive one. "What do you want me to say?" Brittany threw out her arms and let them drop, exasperated back to her sides. She looked back at him and continued, "I haven't seen you in a year. Before that we barely spoke. The last time I recall even speaking with you was when we ran into each other at the ice cream parlour. Do you even remember what year that was? I don't." The young women spoke quietly, keeping her tone from escalating up an octave.
"I just don't know what you want me to say..." Brittany fixed her gaze upon the gravel around her feet not daring to look at Sora once more.

Sora narrowed his eyes at Brittany for a mere millisecond before his face returned to the stoic features that it usually was in, "I don't need to remember the year to remember that particular conversation. Let's try not to dredge up bad memories..." he said quietly yet firmly. He remembered many things about that conversation. He remembered the chocolate ice cream spilt on his hand, how it was one of the hottest day in England that year, and how he confronted Brittany in Diagon Alley. Sora caused her to spill tears that day, something he did not want to remind himself.
He had long stitched up the wounds his heart had. It was definitely not pretty to look at but it functioned. Right now, it felt like it was going to burst at the seams. It was going to burst and explode. Sora wasn't sure if he would be able to stitch his heart again.
"I..." Sora started before he lost track of his thoughts. He sighed, looking at her as she stared at the gravel, "To be honest, I don't know what I want you to say either."
He turned around, slowly shoving his hands in his pockets, "It still hurts, you know. Each time I say that the wound had healed, I know I'm lying. Once second you were there, the next you were gone. It felt like I dreamt you up; like you weren't real."
Sora took a second to organize his wild thoughts. It felt like his thoughts were buzzing away in his head in a chaotic fashion that didn't look like it was possible to organize, "...We're in a confusing predicament. You hurt me, and I'm not so forgiving of that. I also know that I hurt you as well...and for that, I know I cannot apologize."
Sora suddenly turned and faced her once again. He crouched low till he was within eye level of Brittany. He gently brought his hand underneath the soft skin of her chin and slowly moved up, so she was looking at him,
"Do you remember the last thing I asked you in Diagon Alley all that time ago?" he asked as if he didn't know himself.
"I remember your answer," Sora whispered, noticing how close their faces were. He had forgotten how brown her eyes were. They had the color of chocolates, "Do you still...?"

Brittany felt a shiver run down her spine at his cold words about the day in Diagon Alley. She hadn't meant to provoke anything. His quiet tone was worse than yelling. With yelling, she could yell back. However, they were trying to handle the situation like adults. Even though Brittany felt like she could break down into tears at the drop of a hat. No, she refused to act like a little five year old girl. Refused.
As he moved on to speak of her leaving, she felt that boulder sitting on her chest once more. His words reaffirmed the damage that she had caused. Her reckless behavior had led them to this. And they didn't even know what this was! The young woman forced her self to control her breathing, coaching her lungs to work properly. To hear his confessions only added to her guilty feelings. She refused to let him see that though or else he would stop being so boldly honest with her. She deserved this crude honesty.
As he spoke of forgiveness, she highly doubted that could come for her. Brittany had done nothing to amend her actions. She didn't deserve his forgiveness. When Sora started talking about him hurting her, she was confused. Racking her brain, she tried to recall when exactly he had hurt her. If he had ever hurt her. She was 99.9% sure that he had done nothing wrong by her. For a gleaming moment, she thought she had the courage to look up and question what exactly he was talking about. That moment disappeared completely along with the rest of her thoughts as he came face to face with him.
It had been so long. So long since she had been this close to Sora. Brittany could feel the heat coming from his face and smell that all too familar scent that he carried with him. His hand was warm and comforting as he lifted her face up to look into her eyes. Their faces were so close. She could feel his breath cross her skin and for a moment was intoxicated by the closeness, the scent, the warmth.
Her racing mind came to a hault. It felt as if time had froze around them. There were so many things she wanted to say to him. So many apologies she wanted to make and times that she wanted to amend for. It was all too much to say in the amount of time before he began to speak again. Her train of thought came to a sudden and abrupt hault as he spoke.
The question he had asked her in Diagon Ally was a simple one. A question that she would most likely always have an answer to. It would be same answer. Every time.
"Yes," Brittany's eyes closed down hard for a fleeting moment then reopened to see Sora's once more. "I loved you then and still love you now. Just as I always will."

Sora couldn't help but smile as she told him that she still loved him. His heart continued to thump painfully against his chest, threatening once again to burst out from his ribcage. The realization that Brittany still loved him was something Sora couldn't believe. He had always thought that she fell out of love with him ages ago. Hearing the words coming out from her uplifted his spirits as his eyes now shone with a gleam that he had been missing for months.
He brought his right hand up and cupped her cheek, gently thumbing her soft skin. Merlin, she was beautiful. He wanted to tell her how he still loved her. How the past year of lack of personal contact with her had been his own personal hell. His mind had been a hazy mess for the past hour as her own lovely fragrance overpowered his head. His thoughts continued to wildly buzz around in his head as he tried to focus and reign in one specific thought process.
"I love you too," Sora said happily, his eyes revealing his soul. It had been such a long time since he recited those three words. To be honest, those words felt strangely alien to Sora now. He wanted to be able to say those words without them sounding weird to him. He silently made a promise to himself to repeat those words until it became second-nature to Sora and became less foreign to him. "I never fell out of love with you, Britt. I don't think it's possible for me to fall out of love with you..."
A sharp wind suddenly blew, causing a few strands of her hair to brush against his arm. They felt like the finest silk against his skin, warming and tickling him at the same time. He always wondered how females were able to make their hair so soft. Sora figured that it was some secret not shared to men.
"I don't want to be your friend," Sora started before finding out how that sounded. "I mean- I don't only want to be your friend, but I want to be your love again."
He moved ever so closer, feeling her warm, tingling breath against his face. Sora was so close now that, if he wanted to, he could count each individual eyelash upon her face.
"Will you still keep me in the morning?" he whispered idly, licking his lips tentatively. His eyes were hypnotized by the swell of her ruby red lips. With another look at her eyes, he threw caution to the wind.
He claimed her lips as his. He kissed her roughly, placing his hands against her back. He kissed her like how a man emerging from the Sahara would act if an icy cold glass of water was placed in front of him.

The smile on Sora's face was a break from his recent character. Brittany saw a glimmer of the person he used to be. The happy, carefree boy that he used to be may still be in there, just hidden deep down. She wanted very badly to be able to bring that person back to the surface again. To make Sora's life better than it seemed to be was something she wanted to help with. However, what would that help need to be exactly she did not know. What could do such miraculous acts?
As his hand returned to her cheek, she couldn't help but lean into his palm. It was such a natural reaction to her, the welcoming gesture that he made. It was familiar yet something unfamiliar all the same. When he spoke once more, his words made a lump build up in her throat. Hearing that he had never stopped loving her made her mind race with what they had missed in each other's lives over the past year. What they had missed out on by being apart.
Sora's words showered over her and put her into a daze. Brittany knew there was nothing she could say, nothing that she had to say to that. It was all so sudden. The return of Sora, his feelings, the reminder of her own, and the truth finally being said. He wanted to be with her, not only friends with her but be together again. Could that happen? Was that even possible? She was a different person than she had been in Hogwarts. So was he.
His question made her stomach do a flip. Sora's face was considerably closer now and she knew what would happen next. She returned his kiss feverishly. Eyes closed, lips pressed tightly against his, and heart racing. Brittany was afraid that he would disappear. That the entire night was something she had daydreamed while in the back of the library. Her small hands finally left the cold chains and found the lines of his jaw.
It was irresistable. A small part of her knew that this wasn't making the situation better. It was only adding complications to their lives. That part was sqaushed down by an even larger part that had wanted to kiss him since she laid eyes on him while he was on stage.
Pulling back just centimeters away from his face she said, "I want to, I have wanted to do this for such a long time." Brittany sighed and all of her questions resurfaced to the top of her mind. She couldn't bring her self to say any of them though. Instead she settled with, "This is so familiar but unfamiliar at the same time."
Brittany had no idea what she was doing, her thoughts were jumbled up and everything was happening too fast for them to keep up.

Sora unwillingly pulled back when Brittany did, his head a nebulous cloud of confusion. He felt like his emotions took over him as his inner most took control. It felt like his instincts took over and all that was left was his inner snake. What the snake wanted for him was to take control of his feral nature and claim her once again as his only. Though Sora hated this feeling, he didn't deny it. Though it was true that he'd always loved her, he buried this love deep inside once they broke up. He always told himself that burying his love would help get through each day. Once his lips touched hers though, everything went to hell. His self control plummeted and his love for her burst through the ground like a bat out of hell.
"I know what you mean," Sora said, his forehead against hers as he fought to catch his breath. He wanted there to be as little space between them as possible. "We're so different now from our time at Hogwarts. We were kids back then who were still wet behind the ears. There are some things we would've handled differently if given the chance now."
His eyes drifted back to her lips as he recalled their sweet taste. Focus, he told himself. They had acted already, and now was the time for words. They needed to settle things straight before recklessly acting on their feelings again. They needed to clear the air of their past before they embarked on their future, either together or not.
"Do you think we can do this again?" he asked, his eyes focusing on hers. "Do you think we can put aside our past and do this again?"

Brittany's eyes took in Sora's face. The subtle changes that had taken place would have gone unnoticed by most people. She saw the edges of his mouth pulled up and the hope behind his green eyes. It made her happy that he was like this, it was more like him every moment. She couldn't stop her own expression from changing to that of a happier tone. The way he looked at her was as if she was the brightest star in the sky. It made her heart rate spike.
Sora's words were taken straight from her thoughts. He had spoken them before she had gotten the chance and she was a bit relieved by that. Their differences that had built up over the past few years since leaving Hogwarts were unknown. It was like being in foreign territory. The relationship, if one actually started, would be different from what it had been at school. She didn't know in what ways, but she knew that it would be.
The young woman was at a crossroads. There were fifteen million factors that weighed down on each side. Then, he asked her what she thought of the situation. She had barely had time to wrap her mind around the concept that he had kissed her and she had kissed him back. Now they were speaking of rekindling a relationship. And it was on her basically! What an overload.
"I...I just don't know," Brittany sighed defeated by her own battle raging inside her mind.
Retracting her hands from his face, she broke his laced fingers and returned his own hands to him. With that she pushed the swing out and walked a few steps away towards the rest of the playground. Brittany's feet crunched the gravel underneath her feet with each step. Every crunch interupted the arguing that was going back and forth in her mind. Then it occurred to her that Sora might not take that response very well.
Quickly she turned around and looked back at where Sora remained from a distance. It was easier to think while not being intoxicated by his smell, his eyes, his breath on her neck. Wow. The whole point of walking away was to stop thinking about that. Goodness. She needed to gain some more self control.
Brittany finally spoke again, "As much as I love the thought of being with you Sora I don't know if we can do this again. I have no idea what I am doing with my life, where I'm going. I am a freaking librarian for Merlin's sake! How much more lost could I be?" She dropped her face and sighed, knowing that she shouldn't be discussing her own problems.
"Do you know my favorite color? Ice cream flavor? Are you away a lot? Do you like quidditch still?" Brittany rattled off random questions that flew into her mind. Taking a breath she explained, "I'm sorry. I just...it's just....I don't even know." Wow. That explained so much. Powerful words there, Britt. Were those the only words she could say for goodness sake?

Sora tried to hide his frown but couldn't help as it stood sadly upon his face. Her warmth left him as she pulled back and moved away from him. He suddenly felt the wind as the biting cold affect him. Her words hit him like a brick thrown off a twenty-story building. Sora knew that he was putting a lot on her plate by revealing his feelings to her after so long but he couldn't help but feel saddened and slightly annoyed at her.
He slowly moved away from her till the shadows of a nearby building covered his face. He felt a chain-linked fence against his back, only a few steps away from Brittany. He slowly slid down till he was sitting on a gravel floor, back still against the fence. He was reminded of his youth back in New York where he spent time in playgrounds similar to the one he was currently in. He remembered past friends who talked to him while he was in the same position against a fence.
"What happened to you, Brittany?" he asked quietly, ignoring her questions. He knew it was going to bite him in the ass by ignoring her questions but this needed to be said. He crossed his legs and sat indian-style, idly twiddling his thumbs as he stared across at Brittany, "When did you become such a...Ravenclaw?"
Once the words came out, Sora knew he was working himself into a frenzy. Once he started, it became really hard for him to stop. Sora quickly stood up and went towards Brittany, eyes cold as icicles,
"When did you start over analyzing things to the ground?" he asked, staring down at her. "What happened to the Brittany who was sorted into Gryffindor because she was so brave? What happened to that brave Gryffindor who wouldn't let a thing like 'being lost' get in the way of what she truly wanted."
Sora knew that his harsh words were probably going to push Brittany away from him even more but things were needed to be laid out on the ground for both to plainly see, "Where is that brave lioness that I fell in love with? The one that took chances and had fun?"
He was quiet for a moment, eyes cast upwards before returning back to her, "Where is that brave woman because...she isn't standing before me..."

Brittany was so glad that he had moved closer to her. That way she didn't have to move when she smacked him across the face. How dare he question her bravery, her courage! How dare he say such things to her! She had been trying to prevent another heartbreak for the both of them. She had been looking out for his heart. However, she was now being attacked. If she had known that she could beat him to her wand she would have reached for that first before the slapping. But this was more convinient at the time.
"I am brave enough to stand up to you," Brittany's voice seethed with anger as she growled the words at him quietly. "Who the hell do you think you are to insult me like you just did? It's my bloody life and I will live it the way I wish."
Her eyes narrowed and displayed the irate feelings that were jolting through her at that moment. Jaw clenched in order to not say something that she would regret, she tried to organize her thoughts so she could think clearly. Even though there were inappropriate words for a PG-13 site running across each thought every five seconds. She held her ground, knowing that her slap across the face had only invited more argument.
Sora knew exactly where to land his punches and had hit home. It was difficult to breathe for a moment. She felt as if she was a loaded gun waiting to fire as the anger consumed her. Well, she knew where to strike back. "You, on the other hand! You are more of a Slytherin everyday. Aren't you?" Brittany's words cut through the thick atmosphere surrounding them.
The young woman felt her stomach turn as a new thought crossed her mind. This was exactly what she had been talking about. The changes that had taken place with both of them. She knew she was different from when she was at Hogwarts. She had warned him. And he had noticed it, as she predicted he would. It was staring both of them in the face, and Sora had brought it on. Sora had made a perfect example of what she had been trying to explain. Or over-analyze. Whatever.

Sora saw the slap coming from miles away. From the subtle movements of her shoulder, he could already tell what she was going to do. The only thing that surprised Sora was the fact that she slapped him. He half expected her to punch him. Though he saw the slap coming, he took it without hesitation. His head reeled from the surprising strength of her slap. He felt the sharp, tingling sensation upon his cheek, heat coming from the dull throb from the blow.
"You okay now? Did you get that out of your system?" he whispered dangerously low, turning his head back towards her. It took all of his mental strength to not rub his burning cheek. His manly pride would've shattered to a million pieces if he did. He would rather dance naked in front of Gringotts than to reveal that particular weakness.
"The hell do you mean I'm more like a Slytherin everyday?" Sora asked, eyes narrowed like slits. Her words were like knives jammed into his gut, twisting ever so slightly. "We haven't seen each other in a year, Brittany. You do not know what I'm like anymore. You have no idea who I am anymore."
Sora's eyes suddenly widened, realization coming from his last uttered sentence. They...were strangers now. What he knew about Brittany now was as much as he knew about the life of a random passerby. Life had changed for them both, and it seemed Sora was the only one who didn't want to face it.
"ARGH!" Sora cried into the night sky, turning around and punched the left side of the metal arch of the swing. Flesh met cold steel as the swing set shook roughly. Sora's body shook with emotion as he continued to pummel the arch. All his sadness, anger, and guilt emerged through each blow.
Feeling utterly defeated, Sora stopped his attack after a few seconds, his right hand shaking as blood began to drip onto the gravel. He ignored the pain as he fought to catch his breath.
"Why? Why must everything be so bloody hard." he finally whispered, staring down at the floor, his back still turned to Brittany. Droplets of blood continued to slowly fall.

"Yes." Brittany said defiantly as he questioned how she was after slapping him.
It was the truth. Slapping him had made her feel so much better. However, it made a part of her feel bad. She had slapped him hard enough to leave a red mark across his cheek for a good few minutes. That part of her wanted to reach out with the hand in question and caress his cheek in order to make up for being so rash. Luckily, the more sensible part of her brain controlled movements as well.
Keeping her composure in check, Brittany watched Sora take in what she had said. She knew she had hit dead on by the glowering look on his face. Taking in his narrowed eyes, she was only reaffirmed in her accusation of him becoming more Slytherin. At the moment he looked more like a snake than ever. The evil glare, murderous tone, and unhappy cadance. She wasn't scared in the least. He had nothing to fall back on. She had used logic and reason while he had stuck with the past.
As the reality of the situation slapped Sora in the face shortly after she had she couldn't help but feel a slight delight. His lovely way of talking in circles had led him right to the horse's mouth. Brittany almost burst out in dance. Victory was sweet. She liked being right way too much. The realization of what she had been trying to say settled over Sora's features. It was almost heartbreaking to see the determination melt away and become replaced with defeat.
All heartbreak evaporated quickly as Sora became violent. A slight annoyance took it's place as she shouted, "Sora!" As he continued to punch the metal frame that slight annoyance grew into a bigger one. She barely heard his last muttered words through her cloud of sheer irritation. He was being a moron. Senselessly beating a metal pole as if it were the source of all his problems in life. There was absolutely no sense in that. She could barely stand to look upon the scene he was making.
"For goodness sake! You are such a drama queen!" Frustration found it's outlet as he came to a close on the attack. His question was silly. Of course life was hard but he didn't have to go making it even harder. Now his hand was bleeding. Boys. "You okay now? Did you get that out of your system?" Brittany asked in a mocking tone from his earlier.
Brittany whipped out her wand and walked closer to him. Thrusting her hand out, palm up she waited for him to give her his bleeding fist. In the meantime she told him, "Life has to be hard. What would be the point of living if it wasn't? The problems, the arguments, the...stupid decisions make life entertaining. Cause those good moments, those happy moments wouldn't be worth having without the hardships."

The dull throb in his hand continued to get steadily worse as he used his other hand to steady himself against the swings. Sora heard Brittany's comment about him being such a drama queen, which caused him to snort in silent laughter. It was unfortunately one of the drawbacks of being a Slytherin. Along with being cunning and having the will to succeed, Slytherins tended to have drama queen tendencies. It was also unfortunate that Reina had been in the same year as him. She was the queen of all the drama queens and some of it had rubbed off on Sora during the years.
"Yes," Sora replied, repeating the same word she said earlier. He simply stared at Brittany with unblinking eyes as she mocked him. There were times that she epitomized Gryffindor qualities and there were times where he felt that she was cunning enough to match him as a Slytherin any day.
As Brittany drew his wand, Sora drew his own wand out of reflex yet did not point it at her. Sora looked shocked, staring at the thin piece of wood in his hand. "Sorry," mumbled an embarrassed Sora, pocketing his wand once more. "Force of habit."
He watched as she offered her petite hand, looking at his bleeding fist. His pride yelled at him to push away her hand and stomach the pain. Sora was beyond caring though as he slowly lifted his bleeding hand and placed it on top of hers.
"Happy moments, eh?" Sora asked, looking at her with an inquisitive look. After he had released his anger upon the swing set, all he felt was a cold, tired feeling at the pit of his stomach. "I miss those."
"I know I'm sounding like a whiny brat right now but I feel like all I have gotten recently are hardships and wasted moments. I haven't felt anything but that." Sora sighed, flexing his still damaged hand.
"I...I want to be with you," Sora said, jade green eyes staring at her chocolate brown ones. "I don't care about us being strangers, I don't care about our past problems and arguments, and I don't care about our damaged hearts and feelings of being lost. I want us to be together."
"Brittany, be my happy moment again." Sora finally said, continuing to stare at her. "I know you feel confused about our situation right now. Your mind is telling you to think this through, to figure out what your feelings are...but what does your instincts tell you?"

No lie, Sora's reflex reaction to Brittany drawing her wand had scared her. It had taken her by surprise and her eyebrows had shot up in wonder at his motions. Of course she knew that he wasn't going to attack her but he had withdrew his wand so quickly that she didn't have time to even compute what exactly was going on. The real wonder was that he looked surprised at what he had done. The fact that it was a force of habit for him to react that way was what scared her. As he apologized she kept silent and only nodded to acknowledge him.
Brittany carefully held is bleeding hand in her own and looked it over. There were a few cuts on his fist but most of the heavy bleeding was over. With her lack of medical knowledge, she had no idea whether the bones were okay or not. It was a nasty site to look at though. She figured that if there was anything majorly wrong she was not the one who would be able to tell. So she settled into doing what she could. Her healing charms weren't top notch either so she cleaned the blood off and managed to produce a bandage around Sora's fist.
Once all fixed up she replied, "I don't know how bad that is so you might need someone that knows what they are doing to check that out for you."
Putting away her wand, she turned her full attention to what he was saying to her. The man gave a nice little speech. Brittany could feel her blood warm at the declarations he made. It was hard to maintain a level head once more. All she wanted to do was fall back into his arms. To be there for him and give him the happy moment that he had apparently been thinking about for a long while. It was getting harder to say no to him each time.
However, she knew that if she was going to agree to being with him it couldn't be instantaneous. She didn't want to jump back in, head first and smack herself on the concrete. They needed to take things one step at a time and not be irrational. The young woman knew that saying all of these things would not be what he wanted to hear again. Sora was asking for her instincts. Those dangerous things that often got you into trouble.
Her instincts at that particular moment were telling her to kiss him. To bury her face into his shoulder and let the embracing begin. The more she envisioned it, the more she enjoyed what she saw. Suddenly it was not only her instincts telling her these things. Brittany's wall was crumbling down and she was only half-heartedly trying to keep it up.
"To be with you," Brittany's words were soft and true.
She closed the gap between them and stood up close to him so that she could feel his warmth once more. Her small hands snaked their way around his abdomen and rested lightly on his back. On her tip toes, she reached up and put her cheek against his. In his ear she softly whispered, "I want this. You know I do." Pulling back so that she could look at him she continued, "I just want to make sure we do this right."

When Sora saw Brittany's reaction to his drawn wand, a sense of disgust against himself rose up in him like bile in his throat. He felt ashamed that he raised his own wand against her like that, that his job had molded and shaped him into something where a simple movement caused his reflex to take it in as a threat.
Sora's grimace lessened as he inquisitively watched her heal his damaged hand. A cool feeling engulfed his hand, a feeling similar to dipping one's hand in a cold running stream of water. Sora was never good at healing spells, always resulting in him abusing potions or simply bandaging himself up. Though nobody would mistake Brittany for a wiz healer, she was pretty good for a novice. He awkwardly flexed his newly bandaged hand. Sora had banged it up pretty hard and now it just felt sore.
"You're pretty decent with that healing spell," Sora said, continuing to stare at his hand before returning his eyes back towards Brittany. "With some work and help, you might become a decent healer. Keep that in mind if the librarian thing ever goes south."
Sora became silent once again. He wanted to keep talking in order to stave off the silence that was threatening to fill the void. He knew that he was putting a lot of weight on her shoulders by revealing his feelings. All he could do was hope Brittany would take him back.
His cheeks gained a rosy tint as Brittany finally broke the silence. Those four small words changed Sora's world. He couldn't help but smile as her small arms wrapped themselves upon his waist. Her flowery scent filled his nostrils as he was engulfed with dizzying euphoria. Even Sora knew that they were going to have to take things slow. They were not in Hogwarts anymore and were practically strangers. They had to get to know each other once again before they can get back into their relationship.
"Take all the time you need, love," Sora whispered back, planting a small, chaste kiss against her forehead. His lips lingered a second longer than it should have been. "I'll wait forever and a day if need be..."
With a small grin, Sora removed her arms from him and took a step away from her. Wiping his right hand on his pants, he offered it to her, grin still ever present.
"Hi, I'm Sora Blake. My favorite color is green, my favorite ice cream is Sensational Strawberry Splash, I'm sometimes away but can be a mere Apparition away, and I love playing chaser in Quidditch."
They were strangers, yes, but that could be easily fixed. He opened the door for Brittany and all she had to do was cross the threshold. She would cross it on her own terms, but Sora would wait. For her, he would wait an eternity.

Brittany was taken back by his statement that she might one day should consider healing. She had never even given that option a thought because it had never been something she had done often. It wasn't often that she performed healing charms but when she did she guessed that since nothing ever went awry that was a good sign. However, the whole healer thing seemed like a long shot with her. Then again, any career option was possible since she couldn't make a decision about it.
As her words registered with Sora, Brittany watched his mood brighten. His smile was contagious and she couldn't stop her heart from leaping as she saw it. He looked so truly happy to hear her say those words. She loved being able to do that. Being able to make him smile, to bring light and life to his face. It made her happy to do those little things for him.
His words were honest and she knew that he meant everything that he said. He had waited for her for years. Holding on to the memory of what they had been and what they could be. Sora had not let go of her and had kept some small piece of hope for a future with her hidden deep inside somewhere. Brittany had tried to push away those feelings. She had tried to move on and find other things, other people. There had been interests, but it had never developed, never turned into what Sora and her had. Sora had been more admirable than she had.
Brittany couldn't help but frown as he detached her hands from around him. Although she knew better of it, she wanted more than that little kiss on the forehead. Her arms hung limply at her side until Sora extended his hand out to her. She couldn't help but let a small chuckle escape her lips. He was going to take the 'getting to know each other again' literally. "This should be interesting..." Brittany thought as she reached out and shook his hand.
"Hello Sora, my name is Brittany Garland." The young woman tried to hold a straight face as she continued, "I like the smell of old books, my favorite flowers are white gardenias, and I can't make decisions to save my live."
Brittany gave him three simple little facts that she knew weren't the most important but made up who she was. With that she plopped down on the gravel that filled the playground and crossed her legs. Looking up expectantly, she waited for Sora to follow suit.
