December 31, 2008. 8:00 PM.Father Christmas! I'd like my broom to fly, 'Cause I want to be by my baby, tonight! Charlie had to avoid her cringe at the high note of that song. It was an old wizarding classic, vamped out in a modern tone by a fairly new and fairly famous band. It was as festive as she could imagine, without dishing out too much corniness. The encounter with a housemate in the owlery shined the lightbulb on Charlie when she realized that a party was in need. She couldn't get things done for Christmas, seeing as she had already been invited to a party, but she had hoped the New Year's Eve was an even better idea, throwing out the icky idea of a gift exchange for some food, drinks, and the countdown to 2009. All around the Slytherin commons, there was a common theme of silver. It played off nicely with their house colors and worked well with the holiday. The entire ceiling of the common room had lots of grey balloons, with long, silver streamers hanging from their base. So when anyone came in, it would seem like they were experiencing an odd, still rainfall of silver drops. Of course, nothing could work without the food. There were chips, salsas, dips, fruits, vegetables, pigs in blankets, marshmellows, assorted candies, meats and cheeses, hot cocoa, coffee, and her greatest touch... a fondue fountain. The fountain had two separate sides for chocolate and cheese. She could only imagine the hilarity of putting just about anything in there. And while she tried her best to be slick, she could only score sparking apple cider. But hey-- better than nothing, eh? At least everything was done to painstaking lengths. She had a few games here and there (including a ping pong set-- a gift from her Muggle world exploror brother), had set up her own radio in order to hear the countdown for when it would be time to strike it to midnight, and of course all the tunes they could possibly gather. Let the festivities begin! (what do you think? IT'S OPEN!)

Tallulah was extremely excited when she heard about a Slytherin party in their common room. She prepared tons of decorations once she heard the theme would be silver. She made streamers that flashed between the Slytherin colors (Green, silver, and the unofficial black), poppers that when the string was pulled fake snakes would pop out, and many other little things to play with. She had spent most of the days prior to this party making these little favors. All of this preparing and she forgot about what she would wear! Even though this was only a house party she wanted to look nice. She sent a letter home to her butler and he sent her a dress from her collection. The one he picked was a light green dress that tied around the waist. It also had frills of fabric that fell around the 'skirt' part. She also wore a pair of gray tights, enhancing the green dress nicely She had the perfect black Mary Jane high heels to go with it. She put her hair up into a messy bun, not wanting to deal with all of the fuss. As she finished her outfit she checked the mirror one more time, just to be sure everything looked nice. With a confident nod she grabbed all of the things she made and left her room. She took her time as she walked into the common room. When she got there she couldn't help but smile. The room looked perfect. With a slight squeal she walked in fully, looking around. As she looked around she noticed Charlie, the girl she met in the owlry. Armed with her box of surprises, her wand, and well herself she walked over to the older girl with a smile on her face. "This place looks amazing. You did a great job." Tallulah wasn't one to praise people but this girl did an amazing job. She set her box down on the table and started to pull the things she made out of it. With a sideways glance to the girl she stopped taking things out and turned to her fully. "I hope you don't mind...I made some decorations to put up." Tal gave a small smile and hoped the older girl liked what she made. DressShoes

It was New Year’s Eve, and the thought of a brand new year presenting itself to Connor had its appeals. He would be turning seventeen this year, and after the summer holidays he would be returning to Hogwarts as a seventh year. Times were good for the Slytherin Prefect despite the fact that he hadn’t been allowed to return home for Christmas as originally planned. He was still healthy and not sick like many of the other students at Hogwarts were and to Connor that was reason enough to celebrate.
He didn’t dress too fancily for the Slytherin party, deciding to look more casual than anything else with a pair of old jeans with a few holes in the knees and a black We the Kings shirt. Connor didn’t want to get dressed up for this, it would just be a bunch of friends hanging out. It was sad to say that Connor didn’t know many of the Slytherins. He knew who they were but he couldn’t recall the last time he has actually hung out with a house mate. This would be the night to fix something like that, and the sixth year was excited about the gathering that had been planned. Connor exited the guys dorms and entered the common room with a smile on his face as he looked around the room. It was nice, all decorated for the celebration.
Connor only noticed two people in the commons so far but was sure that things would pick up eventually. “ Hey. You guys did a fine job. “ He said, assuming that it was the two girls who had planned the event. It was nice, and the food looked great as well. “ Place looks good. Really cleans up nicely. “ He joked with a smile to the girls.

Now she had her perfect opportunity to mingle with some of her fellow house mates without it being too awkward or random. She had never had a chance to get to meet all of them and she guessed a part of her didn't really think it was anything to get excited over. What she was excited about was having a party. It was one thing to not be able to go home for the break, it was an entirely different thing if the reason involved half the population of Hogwarts having dragon pox. Herself included. With faintly green tinged skin, and pocks all over, Fyona marched down to the common room in a white, long sleeved shirt with a hood, a black skirt, grey knee-highs, and black shoes. The green in her skin and the grey knee-highs set off her eyes perfectly so no makeup necessary.
Upon entering the common room she already saw there were a few people gathered after peering around and through the silver streamers. "Hello everyone!" she greeted cheerily. "Nice job," she said looking around at the rest of the decor. Then she spotted the food table and wondered if it was okay to eat or if she should worry about infecting anyone.

Charlie had come to spot the three first party-goers. "Hey, good thing you guys made it," she said as she leaned on the table and crossed her arms. She didn't think too carefully on her outfit, choosing cleaner jeans paired with striped long sleeve blouse with a collar. With more and more things getting formal for her, she had to actually buy things like blouses and not her usual tee-shirts.
She had been surprised with Tallulah's effort, but welcomed it nonetheless. Before Connor and Fyona had come in, she had slowly nodded her head, seeing the advantage in it... "Uh... yeah, sure. Thanks for doin' that." Now they had instruments to ring in the new year. Why she never thought of that was beyond her.
" Y'Guys have anything you want, and if you have good music to put on, it can be done right here," she pointed to music player.
