Koren paced the room wich was barely recognizable. There were clothes everywhere. Dresses were strewn on Koren's bed, and pants were around her bed. Skirts draped the floor the led to the other four-poster beds, and blouses looked as if they were flung anywhere they could go. Koren trunk stood open and more clothes spilled from it. Her designer shoes also lay among the clothes in her trunk. Koren stopped pacing for a little while and thought, This is so annoying .

Michea was studying her flashcards as she made her way to her dorm room. They were very similar to the sort of flashcards she was used to, though the card stock was unlined and a little thicker than normal index cards. The main difference though is that you didn't have to flip them over. You just tapped them with anything, a wand, a finger another card and what was written changed sides. Her father had encouraged her to get them and Michea liked them for the novelty of it more than because she thought they were better than the non-magical version. Not having to flip the card over only shaved a few seconds off her study-time after all.
These flashcards were the ones she'd made for Potions. On one side was an ingredient, and the on the other a list of characteristics including what types of potions it was commonly used in, how it affected them and where to get the ingredient. Potions was turning out to be one of her more difficult classes, besides astronomy.
Just as she tapped the card to see if she'd remembered all the properties of beetle eyes, Michea tripped over a shoe. She stumbled a bit, but caught herself and her amazement at the state of the room completely swept away the irritated words she'd been about to say.
"What happened in here?" She asked Koren who was the only one of her roommates present.

Koren looked around at all the clothes and shoes laying about the room, "I can't find my shoes! I know I packed them, at least I told daddy I wanted them. he should have told my house elf, and she should have put them in here. Now I can't find them!"
Koren went back to her trunk and started flinging out more clothes over her shoulder. In a matter of minutes the room looked worse than before. After making a futile effort to look in her trunk she stopped and just sat on her bed."It's no use they're not in here." She scowled a bit. "Although they should be."
Koren stayed sitting on her bed trying to think of the next place where they could be. They have to be around here somewhere! Those are 200 dollar shoes!

Aghast at the very idea of spending two hundred dollars on a pair of shoes, Michea shook her head as she made her way carefully to her bed. If she had a pair of two hundred dollar shoes she wouldn't ever wear them, she'd be too afraid of getting them dirty or scuffed up. Something cost that much money, it didn't seem right wearing it on her feet. Michea hadn't grown up poor but her grandparents hadn't raised her to be frivolous with money either.
Michea shoved a couple of dresses and a shirt out of her way and sat down on her bed. She scanned the room, there were at least ten pairs of shoes in plain sight and another five individual shoes strewn about who's partners were probably in Koren's trunk or had been flung under the bed or something. There was definitely no lack of shoes for her fellow First Year to wear and Michea honestly couldn't believe Koren had trashed the room because of one certain pair. "What's wrong with the shoes you've got here?"

Koren answered the question quite matter-of-factly. "They don't match my outfit," she said spreading her arms to show her Christian Dior outfit. Koren dropped her arms and surveyed the room again trying to see if she could spot them. Sighing and giving up hope of finding them she got off the bed and began looking among them various clothing items for something else to wear.
She picked up a blue ruffle skirt and then threw it back down. Instead she picked up a green pair of slacks and then a white Bongo tank top. She looked at the items for a while and then pushed all the other clothes off her bed and laid the two items on top instead. Those are a possibility.
She began looking for a matching pair of shoes and carving a way the clothes in the process. Koren stopped and then looked over at Michea's shoes for inspiration. "You can borroe some of my shoes if you want. Don't take it as an insult. I was just taught that a lady should be we for anything, and therefore should look her best."
Koren really didn't mean anything buy it. Although, the delivery did come out sounding a little snooty.

Noticing where Koren's eyes had focused, Michea glanced down at her own shoes. They were New Balance sneakers, a little run-down, but certainly not ratty. Michea's shoe wardrobe consisted of the sneakers she was wearing, a newer pair, a pair of brown sandals for in case she needed to dress 'nice' and a pair of wool lined boots for when she had to outside in the snow. She considered all her bases covered with that selection.
"Thank you," she replied politely, despite the fact that she would never likely take the other girl up on her offer. "I'll keep that in mind."
She supposed she ought to get upset at the rather condescending way Koren had spoken and the disparaging implications of her roommate's words. It didn't really bother her though. Michea had begun to suspect that Koren couldn't help but sound 'higher-than-thou' when she spoke. Probably the girl's parents' fault, Michea decided.
"Here," she picked up the dresses and shirt from her bed and handed them to Koren. "I think this shirt'd look pretty good with those pants too." The shirt was obviously designer, as were all Koren's clothes as fare as Michea knew.

Koren walked over to Michea and took the dresses from her and the shirt. She carried the dresses back over to her trunk and dropped them in, but kept the shirt in hand. She placed it with the other shirt and on her bed and compared the two. The one Michea handed her was a white Gucci shirt that said "I always get what I want" in sparkle letters on the front. Beneath that was a devil smiley.
Koren smiled and her eyes lit up. "Hey you know it does! Thanks!" Koren lickwise began to change into the other outfit, heedless of the fact that she was stepping all over her other clothes. When she was done she picked up the clothes she just took off and placed them at the head of her bead.
Instead of picking up the rest of the clothes Koren then stretched out on her stomach on the bed facing Michea. Despite the fact that it wasn't very lady like to do such a thing Koren enjoyed it. Sometimes it was nice to throw out all her mothers tips out the window. "Either you must be really good or really bad in that subject," she said referring to the flash cards still in Michea's hand.

"I'm not really bad, but Potions isn't one of my best subjects. There're so many things that go into the potions and getting even step wrong can completely ruin them," Michea replied with a sigh. "I like the class, it's incredibly interesting, but keeping it all straight is a challenge. Not that I don't like challenges, but I like them best when I'm successful at them, you know?"
She set the flash cards down on the desk next to her bed and, after toeing her shoes off, pulled her legs up into a crosslegged position on her bed. "How are you with Potions?"

"I'm pretty much the same way. I could never remember when to put in which ingredient and all that. Only thing is, I don't really find it interesting. The subject I like best is herbology. Some people are surprised when I tell them this. Seeing as I try to act as lady like as I can. Digging in the dirt doesn't meet that criteria. What subject do you happen to excell at?"
Koren stopped and reached over bed into her trunk and dug around until she found a pack of Reeses. She returned back to original position and tore it open. "Want one?"

Her surprised delight at being offered one of her favorite muggle candies was evident in the wide smile that appeared on her face. "Yes, thank you," Michea accepted the peanutbutter cup. After removing the paper cup, she nibbled the outside edge.
"Well, I'm good at History, but my favorite class is Transfiguration," she said after swallowing the chocolate. "I just love the idea of changing one thing into something else." She grinned and popped the peanut butter center into her mouth.

Koren was impressed that Michea knew to take small bites, dainty bites, and not eat the chocolate in two turns. Koren began eating her reeses but was careful not to talk with her mouth full. "Transfiguration is fun and I agree, it is fun to turn one thing into another," she returned Michea's smile. I like her.
She sat up on her bed and sat indian style on the bed. As she finished eating her chocalate she placed the wrapper on her pillow. "So what do you do when you're not studying?"
