"Drat, why'd today have to be so terrible?" Autumn sighed to herself. The amount of rain that was pelting down upon their school could have filled twelve oceans. With another sigh Autumn headed down to the common room. There might be someone down there at least. She pulled on a fluffy hoodie and walked towards the stairs, almost being knocked over by a pack of firsties. "Watch where you're going! You could kill someone!" Little kids, so annoying. As she bounded down the stairs she noticed the common room, like her bedroom was empty. Where is everyone? Did I miss something?, She thought as she looked around the room. She even checked under the sofas just to make sure no one was hiding under there. With a determined pout Autumn was going to find something to do here. She then flung herself onto the sofa, taking all of it up for herself. The only thing about this school that made he a little down was the fact that no electronics work here. If she was at home and it was raining she would have turned on the TV and started watching some marathon of some lame soap opera, but this wasn't home. Again her determined pout flashed on her face as she tried to figure something out to do. (Dante )

Ah the commons, finally a place to relax after such a busy day. Not a bad day by any means, in fact Dante felt rather productive, to the point he hummed as he walked into the room. It was going to be quiet time to study the new tattoo that had been on his hand for some time. He had already began staring at it when he walked through the final door to the common room. [105 5 110 9 100 6] had appeared, wonder what word it spelled...much less what it was trying to tell him he was hiding.
He looked up from his hand just in time to dodge a chair that had been moved since the last time he made his way through the commons. Tripping on the leg he made a recovery by throwing himself onto a couch. It was almost graceful the way it was done, and he looked around hoping that no one had seen it. Sure enough, a fellow Raven was laying on the couch. Autumn, he recognized her as a member of his house, and remembered hearing the name before, but did not know much else about the girl. He slumped back into the couch, taking a more relaxed position. Hoping to shrug off the near fall. “So, what brings you to these parts little lady?” Attempting his worst mid-western cowboy accent for no reason. Judging from her facial expression Dante assumed she wasn't exactly thrilled, so he had been trying to make the most out of the situation.

Autumn watched the boy enter the room. She'd seen him before, but never had spoken to him. He was starting at his hand. From her vantage point she could see something was on his hand. As he was walking into the room he almost walked into a chair. Autumn was about to warn him, but he looked up in time. Though, that didn't help him as he tripped on one of the legs.
She watched him turn his fall into a jump and he landed on another couch. As he noticed her she sat up, looking at him. She moved in to a crossed legged position, facing him. "What brings me here? No reason in particular. I looked at my watch and noticed I was still in bed. No one should be in bed this late in the day. So I decided to invade this couch." She grinned, this guy was fun. "Oh yeah, nice accent parter," She also tried her best cowboy accent. Which didn't sound all that good.

“Well I don't know about that, being in bed until now is quiet alright in my book.” Dante tried not to laugh at the girl's cowboy accent, letting out just a little chuckle. “After all, it's always morning for two hours after you wake up, no matter what time that is. If I wake up at four in the afternoon, I'd still wish you a good morning.” He bounced once on the couch, to test just how comfortable this one really was “It's Autumn right? I could have sworn that I heard it was your name. My name is Dante.” He looked around admiring just how vacant the common room was. “There really is not a whole lot to do around here is there? Nothing to entertain the bored aside from the chance company that make their way through.”
He turned to Autumn and sitting up on his couch, feet on the ground with his arms resting on his legs. But perhaps that is the best kind of company, a new friend rather than an old one. The unexpected plan rather than the same old routine.”
Where am I going with that? Dante thought to himself. Spouting out such statements was rather unlike the him, but it was said, he could only hope no response to that one would come back. Attempting to block anymore on the subject Dante attempted to change things around. “But enough of my ramblings...with the rain and the lack of anything to do around here, would you care to play a game? I have a checker board in my room. Though, I'm not that good at the game.” He gave a smile, a joke forming in his head as he talked. “And perhaps we can work on that western accent of yours while we play.”

She smiled at him. "Yes, it is Autumn, and it is very nice to meet you Dante. You and I share the same view on sleeping in. My mum would not agree. Anyone staying in bed after 10 am is lazy and will be hexed out of bed." Autumn nodded with a mock serious face. If you asked she she would swear she had a permenant hex mark on her butt. She looked around after he spoke about there being no one in the common room. "I was thinking for a while that everyone went somewhere I forgot where it was. But then I know my room mates would have woken me up. Even if they weren't trying. When they get out of bed you'd think they're at a rock concert they're so loud." She let out a little laugh, thinking about her human alarm clocks.
Autumn nodded as he brought up the game checkers. "I'd love to play. A nice warm game by the fire sounds like the perfect day for me." After she said this she started up towards the girls room. Before she stepped on the stairs she turned back around to Dante. "My mother just send me over some candy last night. I huge box. Would you like some. I'm pretty sure I can't eat it all by myself."

“Candy? Sweet!” Dante too began to stand up from his couch and head toward his chest at the foot of his bed. He made his way to the game rather quickly. To both set down his backpack that had been weighing him down all day. He was anxious to start up the game and enjoy some candy. It was a very nice game board, stained wood that was both box and board. Gold locks holding the pieces to the board together it was an heirloom. The board itself was a mix of dark and red woods stained with gold trims between the squares. Even the pieces were handcrafted within it, solid ivory and obsidian checkers for the wooden board. It was used so few times that Dante thought it more important to be used for playing than how valuable the board might have been. It was after all a checker board, it was meant to be used, not meant to be kept up in some cabinet to be admired.
Still half running he made his way back to the common room. Setting the box on the table closest to the fire and pulling two exceptionally comfortable looking chairs over he began to open the box. He then began the tedious process of sorting out the various pieces. At least this wasn't a chess game, remembering where all of the royalty went was confusing. Looking up and expecting to see the reddish blonde walking back at any time. I wonder what kind of chocolate it is...

When Dante said he'd like some candy Autumn smiled and raced up the stairs to her room. Crashing through the door she found her trunk and opened it, reaching inside she grabbed a nice sized box. She opened it to find that all of the candy was still in the and noting was opened. With a quick grin she walked back down, candy held in front of her. A smirk found it's way onto her rosy lips. She set the candy down off the the side of them, in reach. There was everything. Chocolate Frogs, Pumpkin Pasties, Bertie Botts, everything.
She sat down across from Dante, her grin still there. Her eyes wandered from him to the Chess board. It was fully set up, everything was ready. With the hand closest to the candy box she grabbed a Chocolate Frog and opened it up. Inside was a Dumbledor card. She pocketed it, knowing she already had five Dumbledors already. With a bite of her frog she set the other half down. Her eyes went back to Dante. "So, which color goes first? I'm never quite sure."

Grabbing a Pumpkin Pasty and taking a large bite he pointed at Autumn. Dang, that candy was great. Perhaps he should have asked for some sugar rather than coffee in his last letter home. Quickly chewing so he could answer the question of first move he swallowed the candy. “As mother always taught, ladies first.” He took a second bite of the candy, letting this one melt a bit in his mouth before he even began to chew it. Wondering what Autumn's first move on the board would be. The first move always set the pace for the rest of the game. She could start off offensively, or perhaps defensively.
At any rate, with the fire crackling and the rain hitting the windows there was a great mild music to the entire situation. Not overbearing in the situation, but it gave a nice background. “So, what year were you again? And more importantly, got anything around here you enjoy? Playing Quidditch, going on jogs, playing an instrument, rockin' out to music?” Dante sat up in his chair a bit, trying to act like what he was about to say was very important. “Personally, I find knitting to be a great hobby here in the commons.”

Autumn nodded and moved one of her red peices forward on space. She knew it was a lame move, but the game had just started. No one knew where it could go from there. She was probably going to play defensively, her usual tactic. She just liked letting people breeze by her then trapping them in a corner. It seemed the most fun to Autumn.
She thought about Dante's second question, wanting to give a good answer, something not totally boring. "Uh, well. I have a boyfriend here now. He's a Huffle." Her smile appeared as she thought of Beau. She wondered what he was doing now. Most likely sleeping. "But other that be with him I like to read, hang outside, and of course knit." She gave him a devilish smile. "Your mum teach you to knit?"

There was no real strategy to Dante's form of checkers. His moves were often spur of the moment, but he liked to think that even so, he was pretty good. His second move and he still had not taken one red piece, how frustrating it was. But, such was the way the game worked. “A Huffle huh?” He scoffed a bit at the mention of the house, not in a way that he did not like them, he just hadn't meet very many Hufflepuffs.
“Mother couldn't knit herself out of” he paused to think, “a situation that would require knitting.” He finished off the candy he had. Trying to think of his next creative move on the checker board, but only seeing the flaw in his last move, and hoping the girl would pass over it. “Father was always the one who knit, and he was good at sewing too.” He smiled “so I could say I've learned from the best.”
He grabbed a second piece of candy and bit it in half. He would make this piece last a little longer. He had no intention of eating all the candy she had brought. Just a few pieces. The fire cracked as he waited for Autumn to make her move, it was peaceful enough around the commons today, not often they would be able to play checkers so carefree without interruptions of all sorts.
