The new bunch of first years had been shown the “important” things that they needed to know. As many as Dante could think of at the top of his head. It was good that they did not come in knowing everything, they had to learn for themselves after all. Or there would be not fun at the school, watching them learn. He still would find things he did not know in this place, and probably got laughed at by those who had the experience. But that was the process of learning, at least how Dante had seen it.
Though, as he coaxed the ribbons to hang from the corners of the room the thoughts of learning were behind him. With his wand he had decorated the common room rather well if, or so he thought. Blues and bronze tinted ribbon hung from the walls of the common room, and the couches had been arranged to make a bit more of a circle than normal. Allowing people to interact more the chairs had also been arranged to be closer than normal. To the left of the main entrance to the room sat a long table covered with a dark blue table cloth. It had cookies, chips, pretzels and other various snack food sitting on top.
At the far end of the table sat a large bowl of blue punch, it's contents a mystery flavor that Dante hoped his fellow Ravens would enjoy. With the food set, and now the decorations up he wondered where his fellow Prefect had gone. She was mainly the one who thought of the party for Ravenclaw after the Sorting Feast. There was still a bit of time before he had told everyone that they should make their way to the room though. Tianna had helped him set up everything, he just must have missed where she ran off to.
Games were also spread about the room, in the far corner Gobstones sat ready. Though Dante hoped they went unused, the smell was just horrible. On several end tables and even one folding table Dante had brought from home were the makings of other games. Wizarding Chess, an Exploding Snap deck, and a plain pack of cards for the less ambitious in the groups. He hoped those got use, he wanted the Ravenclaw house to get to know each other, be helpful and whatnot. It was a learning experience for Dante as well, his goal was to know a vast majority of his house by the end of the night. Those that decided to come to the party anyway. Everything is in place he thought to himself. Sure, it was no pool party from the years before, but it was enough to get everyone there. Pool parties would come later anyway.
So while he waited, the Ravenclaw Prefect grabbed a cup of the punch he had made and took a sip. He hummed at the fruit flavor as he found a center chair and sat down. In a pair of khaki pants and a pale blue button up shirt he relaxed back in the chair. Looking between the entrances to the room, wondering who would be the first to make an appearance.

Having started her sixth year, second as prefect for Ravenclaw, Tianne didn't really know what was expected of her this year. She had done rather well on her OWLs, so much so that even she, who was quite a critical person when it came to herself, was happy with her results. It enabled her to keep going in the track that she had wanted to follow, and that was excellent. The train trip to the school, and the sorting feast both provided entertainment for the girl, so much that she had forgotten her duties as prefect, and the annual party that was held in the common room.
How could she had forgotten something that was pretty important? Well, Tianne had a few things on her mind. But she had gotten there, in time to help her fellow prefect introduce those first years to the castle and house that was Ravenclaw. It seemed like forever since Tianne was a little kid, wandering the halls in awe, afraid to step a toe out of line, and truly be herself. But now, she was a pretty happy person, one that was still as excitable as the small eleven year olds that had been chosen for a wonderful opportunity and experience.
But again, the girl had somewhere to be when it was time for the party to kick off. She had promised to see Matty, to give her something that was fairly important, but also pretty private too. The details weren't important, but it was a note explaining everything that was going on in her life at that very moment, the ups, the downs, and the harsh realities. But she didn't stay to talk, no, Tianne was quick to go back to the common room, she had a party to attend to, after all!
Having already changed from her school robes to a pair of pale blue denim shorts, with a blue and grey checkered button up shirt. She had gone with the blue theme, and although her outfit was rather casual, she had just wanted to be comfortable with whatever she had chosen to wear. Entering the common room by the main entrance, Tianne grinned as she notice Dante, the other prefect, sitting drinking what Tianne suspected was the punch, the boy seemed rather relaxed. Which was probably the opposite of how Tianne was feeling, but she wasn't that keen on expressing those emotions.
"Sorry, I had to drop something off to... You know Matty Wentworth, right? Yeah, I had to give her something." Tianne said, rather hurriedly, hoping that the boy would have gotten everything that she had said. She took a seat by the boy, still grinning, as she too played the waiting game.

Jason walked up form the great hall, He stopped to talk to some other students form other houses that he knew before making it to the entrance of the Ravenclaw house. He said the password but the statue that guarded the entrance did not move. Jason said the password again, and still it did not move. Jason started to get angry. "Look you over grown bolder if you don't open I'm gonna blast you into a pile of gravel" Jason said with a ticked off tone in his voice. The statue Finlay opened when Jason said the pass word for the third time. When Jason entered the statue made a swipe at him Jason dodged it and went to fight back until he spotted Dante and Tianne in the common room. He walked the rest of the way in and looked around "what the hell is going on here" he said with a grin

Pulling her legs up to sit cross legged, Tianne fidgeted in a plea to make herself more comfortable. Placing one leg over the other, Tianne grunted ever so slightly, although loud enough for her to blush. Sitting still for an approximate five seconds after that, in order to calm herself down, Tianne continued to make herself comfortable. Finally, after moving herself into a position with her legs tucked underneath her, Tianne glanced up at the table, as if trying to make the food come to her. She wasn't that keen on getting up after all of that, nor was she keen on eating all the food before anyone even got there.
Tapping her hand on her leg to the tune of the song that was currently eating her brain out from the inside, Tianne looked up just in time to see Jason arriving. She couldn't help but notice that he looked a little flustered, maybe the statue had given him grief or something.
"Hey!" She said, springing up into action, stuffing up all comfort that she had spent so long building. "We couldn't start the year without a party, could we?" Tianne grinned excitedly, looking over towards Dante, offering a wink. He really had done the majority of the work, and Tianne had basically disappeared afterward; Dante deserved the thanks for it all. "How was the rest of your holiday?" She asked Jason, turning her attention back to him.

Jason smiled as he looked around at the table of snacks and drinks. "O you know, blowing up childhood toys with fireworks, beating up little kids for there lunch money, you know the normal" He answer Tiannes question with a joking grin.
Jason got to the end of the table, a disappointed look came over his face. "I'll be right back" he said running up to the dorms. He came back down with 4 bottles of Butter Beer in his hands he jumped into the recliner by the fireplace and cracked open the bottle and took a sip."ahh still got it" He said with a small laugh. Jason looked at Tianne and Dante "you know the whole sneaking butter beer under Davenports nose"

"Mr. Williams, I suggest you rethink any think you think you've thought," Professor Davenport announced as she stepped through the portal. The stone gargoyle that had guarded the entry since before she had been a student let her by without the hassles he reserved for the students. The woman smirked appreciatively at the single perk her title now gave her.
The standard party that the prefects traditionally threw on the first night back seemed to be starting up, and while Becca had only planned to leave a few kitty treats out for the returning Ravencats, it seemed her timing had been perfect.
While usually wrapped up in her own thoughts, generally concerning the animals she cared for, there was probably a number of things that the Eagles could get under the woman's nose. Mr. William's timing had been unfortunate. Becca was neither surrounded by animals (of the non-human variety) nor had her nose in a book. She was quite aware of who was doing what in the room at that moment.
"And, I'm assuming the younger students have been seen to and will be joining us shortly?" she asked, looking at three of the oldest students in the house. She trusted the prefects to do their job, but had a suspicion that Mr. Williams would have no problem locking the first years in the broom cupboard for the evening.

Jason almost choked on the swig of butter beer he just took when Professor Davenport announced to rethink what he just said. He had a stunned look on his face as he quickly slipped the bottle behind his back. "rethink what" Jason said with a innocent look on his face. Jason hated being called Mr. Williams, but only two people got away with it with out saying anything, Davenport and Raynor.
Don't get him wrong Jason respected Davenport, but Jason's Jason, he cant help but cause a little bit of trouble. As for locking the first years into the broom coubord, unlike Drew Jason waited till they were settled in when he pulled pranks on them.

Professor Davenport was often oblivious, but hardly stupid. She had been a Ravenclaw, after all. If Mr. Williams wanted to believe otherwise, it was going to bite him in the bum worse than sitting in a nest full of Doxies. She had heard exactly what he had said about sneaking things under her nose, and while she would freely admit that the possibility was probably quite large, she didn't appreciate her students lying to her face, especially over something as silly as a few butterbeers. Jason was hardly the first student to think that getting them up to the common room was a big accomplishment.
"Mr. Williams, I'd rather wait until classes have started before I take points away and assign detentions," she responded, peering over her glasses at the boy. "It would be a shame to put such a damper on the festivities, don't you agree?"

Jeremy had spent the last hour in the boy's dorm, moving all of his things over to Drew's old bunk. If anyone was to lay claim to it, it should be him being blood related and all. The move only took a few moments and after ignoring the fact that he could unpack his things, he crawled under the bed to investigate what his cousin had left behind. There wasn't much, but the third year decided that it was a pretty cool hiding place and he stayed there for a while, hearing the other boys come and go without knowing he was even there.
He was starting to get hungry again and knew that there was usually a stash of something downstairs. He wasn't sure if the House Elves would have cleared it out, but he knew the prefects were probably throwing some sort of party and there was bound to be food. Jeremy was confident he was not invited, but thought he could crash, sneak down to the gathering long enough to grab a bite and go.
He didn't get too far, stopping at the foot of the stairs when he heard Professor Davenport's voice. He liked the woman only because she had the animals, but he definitely didn't want to be part of any reason for her taking points. The big kids were probably about to get busted royally for having a party and he would claim innocence and let them take all the heat. He considered telling about all of the illegal things he saw under the beds in the boys' dorm, but decided to save that information for another day.

Jason grinned "Yeah sure we can go with that" Jason said laughing pulling the butter beer out from behind him and taking another swig of his butter beer. Jason did is share of trouble making and this year would be no different for him. Thank god she didn't know about the other things he had up in his dorm and hidden around the whole Ravenclaw house.
Jason smiled again when he caught a glimpse of Jeremy at the top of the stairs. Jason smiled "Taylor stop hiding in the racks and get down here and party with us" Jason said to the third year loudly. He never really talked to the boy much, but since Drew wasn't here to look after the kid, he figured he owed drew enough to look after his cousin.

It sounded like no one was going to get in trouble, which was probably a good thing. If he was going to get his hands on a snack, it would make sneaking in and out much easier if no one was on the defense.
Of course, he hadn't counted on being discovered and when one of the big, burly seventh years called out to him, Jeremy panicked. With a small squeak, he turned tail and scrambled back up to the dorm room where he planned to hide out until it was safe to come down again.

The party had begun around him, and for the most part Dante had let everything settle into place. He sat quietly in his chair, leaning back in it to appear more passive, to slip into the scenery for a moment. He watched Jason and Davenport have some interaction. A weak word for what was happening, but this was the start of a party, some fun. So if they could not get along at such a festive event, what hope did they have the rest of the year? It was that point that had Dante sure that there would be nothing negative happening between the two, it was his hope anyway.
He turned and smiled at Tianna, he was thankful that she was welcoming everyone who had come so far. She was outgoing enough for the both of them at this point, but he felt the need to say something. He had sat at the sideline long enough, and with Jeremy now in view Dante stood up from his chair and raised his hands. With one clap a large grin covered his face, he wanted to draw attention to himself for this one moment.
“Welcome everyone,” he picked up the volume of his voice, almost trying to sound like a ringmaster. He tried not to laugh at his own antics, “to the Ravenclaw Houseparty!” His arms moved in grand gestures from one side of the room to the other. He was making a complete fool of himself today, but he was completely fine with that for now. It was a party after all, and that meant he could be pretty crazy most of the time.
“Don't be shy, have some fun, eat some food, drink some punch” his arms signaled to the decks of cards, and tables of food and drink as he mentioned each. He then turned his attention to where Jeremy was before, only to find the figure was gone. Something must have scared him off, typical. Oh well his loss, Dante thought to himself. And with that, Dante took a few steps toward the other boy in the room. “Enjoy your summer Jason?” He had not known much about Jason, aside from the here and there, the common bumping into each other that comes with being in the same house for so many years.

It wasn't right. This year, coming back without Snake at her side. Jax and Snake had broken up at the end of the previous year... but not by Jax's doing. Jax thought she had found someone who understood her... someone who knew her, and what she was going through, but as life sometimes did... Jax found that any woman that ever had any sort of relationship with her, was taken away. Her mother... any friends that Jax made who actually liked her company that were female... and now the only girl she could have ever had a real relationship with that wasn't one sided. The fifteen year old's heart had had enough... the only thing she had going for her now was quidditch and even that didn't look to hot at the moment.
Since Snake had left Hogwarts and gone back home, for what reason Jax could hardly remember, Jax hadn't told her father anything about the last year. Maybe almost dying from Dragon Pox was a good thing... it kept her at the school instead of telling her father how much of a freak she was for liking girls. Maybe it was a redemption of sorts... Jax could only wonder. Growing up sucked... that was just the punch-line of it all.
So then what? Jax left the girl's dorm, her hair a bit longer than the year before and her body a bit more trim. She'd gained an inch an a half, so instead of her five foot four figure, she was now a full five foot and a half inches tall. Ok, so it wasn't that much taller, but between that and the smaller curves that formed, Jax could have actually passed for a girl at this point... (as the writer snorts along with Jax.) But, not quite. She still wore her torn up jeans and baggy shirts that were much too big for her most of the time, however, that day, she came down the stairs in her jeans and a plain wifebeater tank top. Around her neck, the choker that Snake had given her the previous Christmas with the blue rabbit pendent. She couldn't deny that she had fallen head over heels for Snake... that's only what made it worse.
The party seemed to be going somewhere, though where per say, Jax didn't know. As she looked out though, she saw their Head of House and her face flushed a little. Jax didn't know why, but her stomach did a little flip at the sight of her every time. Shaking the thoughts away from her head, she looked around the room and Dante Vroom, their newest Prefect was waving his arms and being as all over the place as ever. No wonder he was all over the pitch during quidditch. Jax laughed to herself and shook her head.
Walking over to where Vroom had walked near Jason, Jax crossed her arms and smirked. "That's not the question you should be asking," she said with an attitude as if Dante didn't know what he was doing. "It should go something more like this. So, Jason... you signing up for the quidditch team try outs? We need a few decent players and you look like you have some of what it takes... course, I'd definitely need to see your broom work..." Jax snorted looking the guy up and down and rolling her eyes before looking up at Dante. "That's the way you gotta do it, Vroom."

The woman who was Head of House seemed oblivious of the others in the room. She took no notice of Mr. Taylor sneaking in and then out, and didn't even hear the discussion Miss Chaput was starting up. Having grabbed one of the butterbeers for herself, Professor Davenport had become engrossed in her surroundings, reminiscing over her own days as a student. Not much had changed in the Ravenclaw common room over the past 15 or so years and the familiarity was strange, but at the same time quite nice. She sipped on her drink with a serene expression on her face as she studied the never changing wall-paper.

Jason looked over at Dante and smiled "Yeah it wasn't bad, spent most of in in Seattle like I always do" He said, He took another swig of his butter beer "what a bout you how was your summer" Jason asked Dante back.
Jason turned to Jax and looked at her blankly for a moment the grinned, "Yeah Jax I'll get right on that" Jason said with a grin. Jason was not big on the whole flying thing, its not that he could not use a broom, it was more along the lines of Jason not really liking heights. He took another swig of his butter beer finishing off the bottle.
