Standing at the middle sink, Arianna splashed another dose of cold water on her face before standing up straight and squinting at the girl staring back at her though the water dripping from her eye lashes. She looked pale in the moonlight. Paler than should be allowed with her usual golden-tinged skin. Arianna had good reason, though. Well, depending on how you looked at it.
Splashing her face once more, the girl turned off the water and reached for a towel to dry her face. One more glance at the pale girl in the mirror and she eased herself to the floor, huddling under the sink as she stared across the room at a beam of moonlight coming in from the window.

Ray wandered into the bathroom. The jug of water in her dorm was empty and she was dying for a drink. Not until she filled her cup and take a long drink did she notice the other Ravenclaw girl huddle under a sink. She stood there for a moment, it was an odd place to sit and in the middle of the night. She followed the girls eyes to the pale light coming in from the window then looked back at her and, in a voice just above a whisper, said, “Er…hello?”

Arianna jumped slightly when she heard the voice. She had not heard the girl come in and was surprised to see anyone standing not too far from here.
"Hi," the girl glanced up at Ray then took a sigh and leaned her chin back upon her knees, quite uninterested in anything else that might be going on in the bathroom.

Ray gave her an inquisitive look and crouched down by her so she was at the same level. She looked back at the moonlight, studied it for a moment. She saw nothing unusual to keep one fascinated by it, but maybe the fact it was normal, in this place, was quiet interesting. But she guessed the girl was more staring into nothingness and thinking than watching the rays of soft light. She looked back at the girl and said, “I’m Ray.” She titled her head to the side a little as she went on. “You look…occupied with your thoughts. What’s eaten at you?”

Arianna sniffed quietly. Her eyes darted quickly to the girl again and then back to the spot of moonlight. Arms wrapping tighter around her legs, Arianna rocked slightly forward than backward then stopped. Lifting a hand to her face, she swiped what could have been a tear or a lone drop of water.
"It...it's nothing," she claimed in a croaky sort of voice. It should've been nothing, anyway. Arianna doubted anyone else was having as much trouble about it as she was.

“Ah…come on. Anybody who sits under the sink in the middle of the night is not bothered by nothing.” She sat down and smiled kindly at the older student, she could tell she was upset, if not by the tear then by the way she was holding herself. “You can tell me, I promises I won’t laugh. Come on, it’s always better to get things off your chest than hold them in.” She was speaking in as soothing and kind a voice as she could as she rested her right hand on the girls shoulder in a comforting way.

Arianna sighed. She didn't know this girl and didn't feel like telling her anything. How in the world could Arianna get the girl to leave her be?
"I...I had a bad dream," Arianna finally muttered, giving Ray a half-truth. She lifted a hand and wiped at her face again, wishing anyone of her friends was here instead of this stranger trying to be a friend.

"Oh, well those aint never fun." She could tell the girl didn't want to talk to her. "Um...Do you want to tell me what’s it about?" She doubted she did. She began to pick at the cloth wound around her hand, something she always did when she was uncomfortable or nervous or bored or needed something to do with her hands, right now she was uncomfortable. “Un-Unless you don’t want to…that’s good to…I don’t even know your name so I can see why you might not…Er…do you need anything?”

"I need my mom. And my dad," Arianna replied, small tears trickling down her cheeks. She lifted her hand to wipe them away quickly. She didn't know what else she would need besides her parents' comfort. A hug, perhaps? But that seemed odd to ask for a hug from this girl. It seemed to odd to ask for anything from Ray.
