Drew nodded in response, not able to trust his own voice at the moment. He kept his head down, tucked inot his arms, rocking slightly out of frustration and coldness, but didn't say anything.

"I wanted to tell you thank you," Arianna continued, rubbing her hand across Drew's back. "I probably would have just given up on the whole thing if you hadn't kept telling me that I just needed trying."

Drew nodded again, adding a long sniff to his response this time. Her hand on his back was comforting and he calmed down enough to finally regain his voice. "That's good... I'm glad..." he murmured.

Arianna smiled, though it didn't reach past her lips. She still wanted to know what Drew's mood was all about, but didn't know how get him to tell her without starting a fight. Yes, it would make it easier to know what she needed to do to make him feel better, but she doubted that would work if she got him mad at her first.
"You wanna go inside?" she finally decided to ask after she caught herself sniffling. "Maybe sneak down to the kitchens for a bit for some hot chocolate?"

Drew shrugged back. "I thought you were snowboarding," he answered, taking a swip across his nose again. He swallowed hard before continuing. "We can if you want. Are you done out here?"

"Yeah," Arianna replied with a nod. The desire to snowboard at left her quite a while ago. Sliding off the rock, she bent down to grab the shield as she spoke. "I think I'll wait until you're feeling better so you can join me."

He answered with a small nod. "But I only have the one snowboard," Drew answered quietly before wiping his face again and sliding off the rock after her. "We'd have to take turns or something."

"That'll be fine," Arianna reached out and grasped her hand around Drew's. Hefting the shield over her shoulder, she headed slowly towards the castle. "I'll probably need some time to catch my breath and let the pain in my behind settle down a bit before I go at it again."

Drew attempted a small smile as he let her lead him back to the castle. after a few yards hefinally tapped the shield with his free hand. "You want me to carry that for you?" he asked. He knew the best place to stash it so that they wouldn't get blamed for stealing it in the first place.

"Sure," Arianna paused so she could hand the shield over. It wasn't extremely heavy (after all, she'd been able to haul it outside and up the hill by herself), but a bit awkward for her to carry with it stretching more than half her height.
"You know what else sounds good besides hot chocolate right now?" she asked as they continued on. "S'mores. And telling stories by fire. Remember doing that your first year here? Or did we do it my first year?"

"I don't remember that..." Drew answered softly, taking the shield from her and slinging it over his back. "I remember doing it at camp though."

"Maybe that was it," Arianna nodded shortly, barely recalling their summer at camp. "That was fun. Well, except..." she rolled her eyes, but didn't elaborate further. She was sure Drew knew what she was talking about.

"Falling out of the tree and getting lost?" Drew finished, more of a question than a completion of her statement. "That wasn't so bad once I found you, was it?"
All of his other memories from camp were pretty decent: playing Kelpies with Charlie, campfire, climbing the big rock, watching the meteor shower.

That wasn't quite what Arianna had been thinking of, but getting found after her little walk in the forest had been quite a relief.
"Oh, I'm so glad you found me," she said, giving a short nod. "And thank you for staying with me that night my ankle was hurting so bad. I don't know if I would've gotten any sleep that night any other way."

"You were asleep before I woke you up," Drew reminded her, attempting a small smile. He was happy to find that it seemed to stick for the time being.
