Arianna stared down at the large pile of leaves, a grin on her face. She had only spent ten minutes pushing the brown and yellow foliage together until she was sure she it was big enough to jump into. The girl hadn't jumped in leaf piles in a looong time and it was just too much to resist today.
Tucking her wand away, Arianna took ten steps back from the heap, turned around, and prepared to take a running start, at the end of which she would jump, sending leaves everywhere.

Like a bolt from the blue, Drew ran in, took a flying leap and landed smack dab in the middle of the pile. The resulting explosion sent red and gold leaves high into the air. With a wide grin, he watched them float to the forest floor before looking over at Ari.
"Mind if I join?" he asked, grinning at her. He knew she'd probably be mad he had ruined her hard work, but he also knew it would be faster for the two of them to make a new pile.

"How did I know?" Arianna shook her head at the boy, though she was smiling from ear to ear. It was good to see him not moping about. "Make a pile and Drew will come."

Drew sat in the middle of the pile and just grinned at her. "I think I'm a leaf magnet," he answered. "So, are you jumping in too, or what?"

Not bothering to point out that Drew was still in the middle of her pile, Arianna took off at full speed. Merely two feet from the pile, she lept head-first, arms in front of her. Her plan was to tackle the boy, but it obviously wouldn't work if he decided to move.

Drew took on the tackle, pulling her down into the leaves as she leapt at him. Once she was down in the middle of the pile, he proceeded to shove the leaves on top of her in an attempt to bury her.

"No! I'm being buried alive!" Arianna squealed. Her arms flailed above her, pushing the leaves back off of as fast as Drew shoved them on top of her. Some of the foliage was sent into the air to flutter back down to the ground as they had only days before.

Drew worked faster at shoving the leaves on top. The more Ari threw them off, the more dilligent he was at getting them back on. It was becoming an even race when Drew finally gave a loud whoop and leapt back on the pile, landing next to Ari.

Pushing the leaves out of her face, Arianna sat up and turned to Drew, a wide smile on her face. Of course she had to reach out a hand a poke him in the side before tossing leaves onto him by the handful.

Drew cried out in protest at being poked, and scrambled away from her fingers, letting the leaves crunch around him as he made his escape. In retalition, he pushed handfuls of leaves back at her and laughed.

Giggling back, Arianna chucked another handful of the foliage before jumping at Drew, her fingers reaching for his ticklish spot.
"It's good to hear you laugh again," she commented, though not stopping in her quest for the boy's ribs.

Drew let her tackle him, but he pushed at her fingers to keep them away from his sides. He growled good naturedly at her but din't comment on what she had said.
He had to agree. It felt good to laugh again.

Again and again, Arianna's fingers darted from one side to the other, making their way past Drew's hands once or twice to poke him before being thrown off again. When she couldn't get much more than that, she resorted to dropping more leaves upon his face.
"You gonna fight back?" she teased, sticking her tongue out at him. "Huh, Shorty? Huh?"

"Shorty? Who you calling Shorty? I'll show you Shorty!" Drew answered her back, making a grab for her and flipping her on her back and away from him. He took the opportunity to throw as many leaves as he could on top of her again.

"Shorty, Shorty, Shorty!" Arianna squealed. She had attempted a sing-song voice, but was giggling too much to get it out properly. This time she didn't even bother to push the leaves away, but allowed the boy to bury her as he pleased.
