Nic sighed. It wasn't that he didn't think it was hard it was just that if word got around back home that he went rock climbing he'll never live it down. It just wasn't something black folks did. "I think not."
{What? Was it the spelling? lol.}

"Come on! It's fun!" Arianna exclaimed, giving the boy and encouraging grin. She wouldn't force him to climb if he didn't want to, but maybe he would join if he saw how boring it was to stand at the bottom watching.
Turning back to the large rock, Arianna started her own climb, waiting until she couldn't reach the next hand-hold before holding her hand out for help.

Nicolae gave a small wave then stuck his hands in his pants. "No thanks. I think I'll find Allegra and see if she'll debate more with me. Or Keagan." Nicolae turned around and started to stroll by himself away.

Drew pulled Ari up and made sure she was settled on the ledge before answering Nic. "Suit yourself," he called down, "But you're missing a great view." He turned back to the rock already planning the next section of his climb.

Once she was standing on the ledge with Drew, Arianna turned and hollered down to the receding figure. Nic was, perhaps, the first boy she had ever met who didn't like to climb rocks and trees and other high things.
"You want to hang out later, then?" she questioned before he got too far.

Nic turned at Ari's voice. He took a few steps as he called out to her. "Yeah, that'd be cool." Then he turned back around to see what trouble he could get into.

"You still owe me a game!" Drew called out after the boy. He was kind of disappointed the Slytherin wasn't joining them, but he wasn't about to force the guy to climb up the rock.

"Meet you at the dinner table," Arianna hollared again, figuring that would be the easiest way to find each other. "We can figure out something to do then."
"You ready to continue?" she then asked Drew as she turned back to the rock and stared up to the top.

Drew had already taken hold of the next fisure and had pulled himself up enough to stick his foot on a small bump. A few more pull-ups and he was on a decent sized foot rest, ready to help Ari up after him.

"How do you always find the easiest way up?" Arianna asked as she pulled herself along the rocky surface. She didn't know if it was because of Drew's help or just being able to see the ledges and cracks he used that made the climb easier than it would have been should she have climbed on her own.
Pulling herself up as far as she could get, the girl reached her hand out again for some help and got herself up to where the boy now stood.

"Eagle eyes," Drew teased as he pulled her up and started making his move up the next section. He found a crack big ehough to slip into and used it to climb up the next section, bracing himself on the sides with his long legs.

Arianna shook her head at the joke. It was funny, but more on the stupid-funny side.
"I guess I'm just too impatient to look for a safe path up," Arianna commented, watching Drew again so she could know where all the good foot- and handholds were. She found it interesting that she could plan out a drawing or painting in her head from start to finish just fine, but dove right into most anything else before looking. Perhaps that was why she constantly found herself in trouble.

Drew answered her by offering his hand down to her once more. He had heared what she had said, but was more focused on his climbing than on answering her at the moment.

This time Arianna grabbed Drew's hand before she'd pulled herself more than a few feet up. If she'd been a bit taller she might've been able to make it by herself, but the ledges seemed to get further apart from each other the higher they got and she couldn't reach some of them without contorting her body in ways she didn't feel comfortable with.

Without a word, Drew made the nextleg of the climb. The rock wasn't big and it wasn't long before he could scramble up to the top. He lay on his stomach and grinned down at Ari, ready to pull her up again if needed.
