"Yeah," Drew assured her with a small laugh, pulling the second apple out once she had taken the first. With a loud crunch he bit into it. "Too bad we couldn't convince Nic to climb up," he said.

"You wouldn't have another apple for him, would you?" Arianna asked, as though it was the only thing worth climbing a cliff for. "It'd be sad if all three of us got up here and we had to eat in front of him. Poor Slytherin."

"Nope," Drew answered as he finished off the apple. He took aim and chucked it off the edge of the rock, throwing it as far as he could, trying to see how close he could get to the lake. "If he had come up, we would have shared or something I guess... or just gone without them."

"You think he's afraid of heights?" Arianna asked as she nibbled on her apple. She might have been half-way through her own before Drew chucked his at the lake. "Maybe that's why he didn't want to climb."

"I doubt it," Drew answered with a shrug. "he probably prefers to keep his feet on the solid ground is all." Nic's behavior about rock climbing had reminded him of some of the other kids back home. He thought it interesting that out of all of his black friends, only his buddy LaVal would hike or swim. He didn't know why it was. It just was.

Arianna shrugged and went back to chewing on her apple. She leaned back against the rock and let her legs swing back and forth against the stone below, creating a low TWACK TWACK every second. She was already getting a little ansty, though, and looking around for something else to climb.
