"It's not fair, you know?" Arianna grunted as she pulled herself slowly up the rock face. She paused half-way up to take a breath and look around for another crevasse to grab onto. Before she could find one, though, Arianna's foot slipped. Her knee banged against the wall of stone, but she was able to keep herself from falling (with a little help, of course) and pull herself the rest of the way up.

"What's not fair?" he asked calmly, even when Ari slipped and nearly fell. He grabbed on to her tighter and hauled her up before she could do more damage to herself. Once seh was afely next to him, he took a seat on the rock and looked out over the fields.

"Being so short," Arianna replied. Dusting herself off, she sat down next to the boy and followed his gaze out to the fields. "I have to work harder to get to somethings. It's not ALWAYS bad, but there are times I wish I had a few more inches on me."

Drew shrugged back, not knowing how else to answer. Sure, being tall had it's advantages, but it had it's major disadvantages too. He was always expected to reach things for other people, stand in the back even if he got to a particualr spot first, and the worst was every guy with a short-man's complex trying to pick a fight with him just to prove something.

"Of course, I could always be a little shorter..." Arianna commented. She had been surprised when she had surpassed Raynor in height. It was only an inch or so, but still...she was taller. And she really couldn't complain about that.
"Thanks for helping me up," Arianna nudged Drew in the side. Not in his ticklish spot, of course. She didn't want him jumping and falling off the rock.

"Sure," Drew answered back as he banged his heels against the rock below him, beating out whatever song was playing through his head. "It's not like I'd just leave you hanging there, right?" he asked, grinning with the tease.

"Mmm....yes?" Arianna kept the teasing quality to her voice and stuck her tongue out at the boy. There were probably days he probably should leave her hanging, but she knew he never would. She gazed across the grounds again then dropped her gaze down to her lap and let out a small gasp.
"Oh, no!" Arianna's mouth dropped open suddenly when she noticed the hole she had gotten in her pants. Her fingers touched the bloody knee poking out of it, but that certainly wasn't what she was worried about. "These were my favourite pants!"

"Then you probably shouldn't have been climbing rocks in them," Drew asnwered, frowning at the hole, but not overly concerned. It was just a skinned knee and the pants could be fixed easily.

"I know," Arianna agreed, somewhat put off. She leaned in for a closer look. "I could patch it, though. Find some cool looking material and sew it on. Maybe....fairies or flowers or....flames. Which would you choose?"

Drew shrugged back. "I don't know... I'd probably just leave it with the rip." If it were his pants, fairies and flowers wouldnt' really go well. And flames weren't his style really either. "Or... just get some new pants I guess."

"But they're my favourite," Arianna reminded him. She sat back against the rock, her nose scrunched up. "I can't just buy a new pair."
Maybe she could just fix the hole with a quick charm. But then, Arianna wasn't one to do so when her clothes became torn or worn. She usually shoved any good pieces of material in a corner of her trunk, thinking she could make something else with them. New clothes, or some other art project. She wasn't ready to do so with these pants, though.

"Then don't..." Drew answered, not sure what she wanted him to do about it. In his mind, pants were just pants. If one pair got a rip in them you either lived with the hole or threw them out and got a new pair.

Arianna stuck her tongue out at Drew. He didn't get it, but that was okay. Arianna just felt a little more sentimental about these pants than she probabably should have.
"So what're we going to do now?" she asked, peering down at the ground far below.

Drew shrugged back. The whole point of the climb was the climb, not what you did once you got tot the top. He pulled an apple out of his pocket and offered it to her. "Sit here and look at the view?" he suggested.

"Sure," Arianna shrugged and took the offered apple. Before biting into it, though, she glanced at Drew's pocket.
"You've got another one in there for you, right?" she asked, almost positive that he did. If not, Arianna was willing the split hers in half so they could share.
